501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Anti-XTers Are Harming Bitcoin on: August 22, 2015, 06:43:53 AM
This is you:

MOOOOOMMMMMMMM  they won't let us take over bitcoin!!! MoooaoaAAAAAAAM

What this lacks in logic it makes up for some how by being uncannily accurate. Now that you mention it, that is exactly what the OP sounds like
502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Anti-XTers Are Harming Bitcoin on: August 22, 2015, 06:36:55 AM
Dear XTers,

Instead of assuming that you all use the poor logic that is presented in the OP I will give you the benefit of the doubt. I don't presume to know what all XTers think but I do know that there are some very logical reason to avoid using XT.

Any discussion in favor of the XT protocol avoids talking about 2 things, firstly that it's alleged purpose is not the only thing that's being introduced, and second that Satoshi himself has weighed in on the argument in favor of the "Anti-Xters"

Although the alleged purpose of the change is to allow for bigger block sizes the introduction of IP filtering by default without warning is the antithesis of a trustless protocol because if requires us to trust that the list of IP's being filtered is fair and just, ie trust.

Although I would not try to present Satoshi's negativity as a logical argument his reasoning is logical and in light of his historical relevance to the protocol deserves to be heard, not ignored or talked about as an "unhelpful" email has some of the XT religious types have done.

Here is a link to Satoshi's public comments about XT dated August 15 2015

https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-dev/2015-August/010238.html

This trap was not unexpected though, and our capture and subjugation is, at this stage, optional

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHFSvttMg6E&t=3m3s

Unless the message is signed, it is not Satoshi. Or at least, we cannot be sure that it is satoshi and therefore it is open to doubt and cannot be trusted the words of satoshi. Satoshi as spoken in the past and signed the message so we can be sure it is from him. Why did he not do it this time when it is so important? The only conclusion can be that the message was not satoshi but a clever anti-xter who was pretending to be satoshi.

Also, if you do not like XT, then you should working on supporting consensus for increasing the block size on Core. I am all for increasing the block size on core and throwing XT in the garbage. But until there is a better alternative, I support XT as the best current solution. You anti-XTers who do nothing but your spend your energy fighting against XT could be more productive by spending that same energy on finding an BETTER SOLUTION THAN XT, and implementing that solution. All your fighting against XT does nothing. Help us arrive at consensus to increase the block size on Core and you will do more to destroy XT than anything else could I guarantee you that.

I note that the arguments here against me are

1 - Not signed = not satoshi

--- Possible but that hardly makes the post irrelevant or inevitably an "Anti-XTer"

2 - I (along with every other "Anti-XTer") do nothing but spend my energy fighting against XT

--- Again possible, but hardly necessary when angry people make fools of themselves in support of XT they are doing a better job of turning people off XT than I ever could, also I did go out and see the sun today.

3 - My fighting against XT doesn't help us arrive at consensus to increase the block size.

--- Basically arguing with me about a subject I didn't mention so as to avoid any discussion of the trustless protocol or ip issues that I raised.

Thanks for quoting me, happy to see these links posted again.

504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin tax in future on: August 18, 2014, 11:25:01 AM
While it is true that Bitcoin could appreciate to the point where 0.001 bitcoin/month was a good rate of pay it would not be likely that you would be paid using bitcoin for the exact reason you mention. The answer though is rather simple. The solution to the fungibility of bitcoin is in the blockchain technology which makes trading 1 Satoshi for 100 Doge coins (or 25 as the case may be) a transparent and simple way of sending the value of one Satoshi without the fees required of the bitcoin blockchain. By using an alternative blockchain to send 1 Satoshi the fees required are easily minimised. Competition among competing blockchain a will give us a plethora of choices by the time bitcoin reaches these kind of values. I agree, no such thing as a dumb question
505  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Generator? on: July 15, 2014, 08:05:14 AM
The funniest thing about these "bitcoin generators" is how easy it is to find out they are a scam so it's hard for me to sympathize with anyone who falls for this. Just do a Google search of the link before you download it and you'll find out just how ludicrous the scam is, often targeting teenagers etc, Bitcoin is just the tip of the iceberg here.
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ByteCoin Update (Bounties!) 21st of April 2014 on: June 20, 2014, 08:42:56 AM

We have also added ByteCoin  and now has it's own page on http://coinwik.org a wikipedia listing all the alt coins to help you quickly find facts and links about your favorite coin.

http://coinwik.org/ByteCoin

If you know of other facts and links that can be added to the page, please feel free to update the page.

Wow, thanks for listing us in there Smiley

Ahmed_bodi, sorry to here about your mismatch issue, if you can update us to that latest client WITHOUT the merged mining, perhaps you can work on that later?

Best of luck to everyone holding onto these coins Smiley

Also https://bytecoin.org/news.php.

Bytecoin has been active for a while.
thats not the real bytecoin. Thats the CN based one

Which came first?

well from personal belief the SHA256 (this one) came first. However the CN Based one claims on their website that they came first and also that its very widely used however until about 2 months ago no one had heard of it here

regardless of who was first, (upon investigation is seems quite likely that we were second, even if we were more widely known in the bitcointalk forum) it seems that it is US who are trying to revive a coin that needs all the help it can get. If ahmed_bodi is able to fix us a new client AND get merged mining to work than I think we could rename the coin BodiBytes, or at least have a discussion about what miners would go for. keeping in mind that we will need to convince a majority of miners to update to the new client for it to be successful, I only have a few gigahashes, not enough to make much of a difference, but I'll do my best when the time comes

Also https://bytecoin.org/news.php.

Bytecoin has been active for a while.

As has been mentioned before, bytecoin.org is actually a different coin. If you wish to help ahmed_bodi in working on the sha256 bitcoin clone then we may have to consider renaming it. But let's worry about that when we are closer to having some news on the new client. Thanks again ahmed_bodi and the crypto repair crew for working on this.
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ByteCoin Update (Bounties!) 21st of April 2014 on: May 25, 2014, 05:15:38 AM
Merged mining brings in security. With security comes people willing to bring features. With features comes a real use. and with a real use comes VALUE! Cheesy

Thanks ahmed_bodi, nice to see your still working on this
510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Possible POS attack weaknesses on: April 01, 2014, 10:20:15 AM
I'm just interested to hear a general discussion of POS attack weaknesses. My specific concern is, is it possible for someone to generate "interest" by somehow pretending to have coins in their wallet when in fact their wallet is empty. What protects coins from this kind of attack and how to they prove they have POS?

Thanks for the suggestion, sounds like a good idea Smiley They are currently taking donations in Dogecoin so I get the impression it will be added soon

I read an artical today about the argument with the bitcoin team and 2 companys that wanted the 80bits with the op_return because they could store more data for the system......the solution was just use a pointer to a differant blockchain that stored more data....

a data blockchain for the bitcoin blockchain.......

would make for good PR for bytecoin....and increase the value....

and the name Bytecoin fits that purpose

Fascinating, glad to see ahmed_bodi commenting on this thread still. I'm doing my best to keep my OP up to date if/when there is any news. Thanks for your input guys

514  Economy / Service Discussion / Who are the Trolls on BTC-E? on: March 23, 2014, 08:09:14 AM
I'm contesting that the answer to this question is yes. I'm glad to say I have long since removed all my coins from BTC-E, I'm sad to say that the disregard for free and open discussion on BTC-E has completely destroyed any natural trolls from forming, a new super troll called the BTC-E moderator has been born.

The "troll box" is still full of trolls, but not the ones we remember from last year. These days the trolls are the Moderators who talk among themselves and ban anyone who doesn't like it. Today Paulgr, Serraz and MoosaNYC are all glad handing one another while demonizing Blackmambamedia for mentioning meatspin. I don't know what it is and I don't really care, but just the fact that this discussion took place makes me more interested in meatspin and less impressed with the level of hypocrisy that has been allowed to incubate on this exchange.

here's the "discussion" note the presence of 3 moderators and the repeated posts every few seconds (, spam like "ROFL", something no one else is allowed to do).

It's like the mods are making "filler" so that no one notices that all the people with something interesting to say have been banned. All it's doing is making the site look stupid.

(PS. I now know what meatspin is and I am better educated thanks to Blackmambamedia. If you don't find meatspin funny maybe you will find this video condemning homosexuals more your style)

1) Yes, I have approximately 17 stored in hardware wallets I personally hold as well as numerous others that's I keep on exchanges.

2) December 2011

3) Yes

4) Yes, however I don't believe the dumping is related to the technology

5) I'm more interested in mining unique coins, actually I'm offering a number of 0.1 BTC bounties for developers to help me with my own ideas for a unique coin.

6) Of course, although I don't really measure things in Fiat, risking 0.002 BTC on a new coin is something I've done countless times already, and I have no regrets.

7) N/A

8 ) The current "alt coin universe" has lots of imagination put into the marketing, but not much imagination put into the code. I'd like to see more coins that can be used for alternative purposes, like SiaCoin. SiaCoin is still in development but aims to be a coin to allow users to pay for cloud storage of large files or to sell their storage space to other users of SiaCoin. You can't find more info here.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhZXj48tUao

Also I would like to develop my own coin that has PoS as the main way of generating coins, and a supply limited only by time, and not by a specific number of coins.

The grammar in question 6 makes the question difficult to answer if you would consider $10 for entertainment, but not for one of the other values, or vice versa. Grammatical ambiguity aside I understood the gist of the question and hopefully you still like my answers. Grammar Nazi's often shoot themselves in the foot anyway

9) I would like consider my "way above average" answer could lead to an unexpected opportunity. I do understand that this may just be the Dunning Kruger effect though. Despite my belief that my answer is "way above average", it's the belief of others that will decide. Objectivity is what others see Wink

10) Setting a clear goal to make over $10,000,000 USD in the next 5 to 8 years sounds good, but I'd rather set my goals in BTC as I don't think $10,000,000 USD will be able to buy toilet paper in 8 years time Smiley I'll aim for 10,000 BTC and expect it will be worth more by the time I get there.

I'm not sure I fully understand what I've been a part of here, but I'm excited to find out. The future is bright  Cheesy

from the 13/3/2014

Well Today I've removed ALL my coins from btc-e and here's why I recommend all my friends do the same.

I knew poor communication was a reflection of poor management at Mt Gox 2 years ago, and can happily say that for at least the last 12 months I've been warning my friends NOT to use that exchange.

During that time I've been recommending AND using btc-e. Sadly btc-e has gotten to the point where the communication of those representing btc-e has gotten to the most ridiculous levels and as of about 3 months ago I stopped recommending them, and today, I pulled the last of my funds from this exchange.

Today I witnessed double standards of the most outrages proportions. A moderator that bans people for swearing says. "my anus hurts" and then continues to blatantly abuse his privilege of being able to avoid the time restriction placed on everyone else to spam the room with his bored suggestion that he ban himself because he's so bored. I don't know how they've managed to reduce the discussion to a moderators and ass lickers love fest in just over 12 months but the incompetence on a communication front for the exchange is staggering.

I removed all my bitcoins except 0.1 thinking that would be enough so that I could still chat there. (I did plan to say goodbye.) When I tried to say goodbye I got a message saying I needed $47 to chat... well I could have converted the last 0.1 bitcoins to $57 but i just thought bugger it. I would have trusted them with 0.1btc... at least it might have been worth something when I come back in 3 years... but I don't really expect btc-e to be there anyway...

Thanks for the coins btc-e, the last too years has been fun. When you introduce moderators who actually know what's going on at the exchange and can at least discuss efforts to prove solvency and other issues more important than fart jokes, I may be back. Bye and good luck y'all (this was to be my goodbye message, saying it on bitcointalk will have to suffice.)

For more history on bans and why I believe this reflects badly on the exchange you can see the other thread I started on the topic here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=488677.msg5384526#msg5384526

I mean, you can disable the chat (:

Yes you can ignore stupid people, but only newbies trust stupid people with their money

edit 13/3/2014

Moderators on btc-e kill trading talk when it suits them but then say stuff like this

moderator: "There is still a week until LTC is on Huobi. It won't hold these prices all this time. There will be a drop."

This kind of discussion from someone who appears to newbies to be working for the exchange is incredibly unprofessional. I'm glad I've got every last cent out of that exchange.
520  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Stupid reasons for getting banned on BTC-E!!! what's yours? on: March 02, 2014, 04:58:38 AM
OF COURSE BTC-E will gox you some day, wtf don't be so naive. They are running this shit totally anonymous. People these days......

Being anonymous does not automatically make you untrustworthy, and it IS possible to prove solvency while remaining anonymous thanks to cryptography. I don't think it is necessary for btc-e to share their personal details to be trustworthy, but I do agree that they are bound to Gox people in the future if people continue to trust them blindly just because they have been trustworthy in the past. I would also add that bringing these suggestions up on btc-e is bound to get someone banned. Sadly the mods are very poor representatives for btc-e and are not at all interesting in solving the trust or PR issues.
