501  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Premier League 2023/2024 Discussion Thread ⚽ on: January 29, 2024, 11:08:11 AM
Anyway I believe Manchester United is not going to improve in a quick time and they have a lot of problems to solve.

The first issue they must address is Onana. If you have a bad goalkeeper, you will continue to get awful outcomes. This happened to Chelsea this season with Sanchez, and since he was injured, Petrovic has restored trust in the backline, and the squad is keeping a lot of clean sheets and winning games again.

Klopp must be relieved to hear Salah's injury not being a serious one. His expected return date is the end of the month. Another great news for Klopp is that Egypt were eliminated by D.R. Congo last night so Salah won't go back to AFCON after his recovery.  Smiley

Lol. Salah was hoping for his side to be eliminated so that he could return to Liverpool without the media hounding him. I won't be surprised if he starts against Chelsea in midweek.
502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Know when to stop on: January 29, 2024, 10:18:55 AM
I don't think that anyone can have that sense of satisfaction as you call it when they lose, they will be pained and this is more reason why some people would want to revenge to gain their money back.

Well, revenge gambling creates more problems than it solves if at all it solves any problem except you win, that cannot be guaranteed. Even though this response is geared towards recouping from the loss immediately, it is irrational and minacious because it will add to the loss instead of helping the gambler recover. I think this is triggered by anger and greed so self-control is very important if we must know when to stop.
503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is addiction bad only when it is a problem? on: January 29, 2024, 09:41:18 AM
Like you rightly said, there's no positivity in gambling addiction and that's we can't just justify it and advice people to allow themselves get addicted to gambling for any reason of whatsoever.

There is an exception to this. Getting addicted has helped in a way. I know of a man who lost his family in a ghastly motor accident, he became frustrated by the loss and before this time he was a gambler but not addicted. This tragedy made him gamble a lot to cope with this loss and he became addicted since he gambled frequently than usual. He is always gambling and he is beginning to cope. Maybe there are similar cases too which have made gambling a coping mechanism. If gambling serves as a coping mechanism can we still say there is no positivity in gambling? in my thinking, no.
504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the definition of a Gambler? Do you consider yourself as a Gambler? on: January 29, 2024, 08:08:59 AM
It doesn't matter to me when someone tells me that I am a gambler because I admit that I am someone who often comes to gambling to bet on gambling and I cannot forbid anyone from calling me a gambler.

Why will someone who gambles be even bothered that he is called a gambler? Is the person not a gambler? If you pick an offense when called a gambler try to remain anonymous or quit gambling. Well, if you remain anonymous you are still a gambler. A gambler is a gambler. I am happy gambling and calling me a gambler doesn`t piss me. Yeah! that`s what I do. If you think gambling is bad and you don`t want people to associate you with it, stop it. Gambling is legal in my country so I am not going against the State law gambling. Put me on TV, tell the world that I am a gambler, and if there is an award, call my line I will be ready to pick it up lol.
505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are every activities/competitions with stake known to be gambling? on: January 29, 2024, 07:55:50 AM
When you stake something with an expectation for a return, it is gambling. The return is not guaranteed and that is why gambling is a risk. The risk notwithstanding, people still engage in gambling because of the reward. If you are lucky, you win and get financial liberation and if you are not, you lose and sadly, the odds are always high that you will lose but people keep trying. Two persons can engage in the same activity and one is considered a gambler and the other not. The reason is one has placed money to stand a chance of increasing the money whereas the other is only participating in the activity for pleasure. For instance, some people watch soccer because money was placed on the game and some others watch simply because they enjoy watching soccer games. So, what comes to mind when the word gambling is mentioned is stake and reward.

506  Other / Off-topic / Re: Having a regular/steady income is important as a gambler. on: January 29, 2024, 07:37:32 AM
Having a steady and regular income is very important as a gambler because it would enable you to scrap out money you should use for gambling, feeding, taking care of yourself and family and other miscellaneous.

Since gambling involves using money to get money, it is important to be an earner before gambling besides it is not good to rely so much on gambling to survive due to the uncertain nature of it. But then when we consider this from another angle, I would say that all gamblers have a source where income is generated and that is why they can even gamble in the first place. A person without funds cannot gamble. I know times I couldn`t gamble because I had no funds. So, to gamble you must earn.

On second thought, having a regular and steady income doesn`t make a gambler disciplined. The more funds at his disposal the more reckless he becomes when he is addicted. An addicted gambler can neglect his family and even his mental health since his concern is always channelled to gambling.

Having a steady income does not guarantee that you will have possibility of winning while gambling.

So correct. It doesn`t even prevent a gambler from getting into problems as an addicted gambler. Winning comes from luck and is not dependent on the income of the gambler. A gambler with a lesser income might record more wins than a gambler with a steady income. It`s a case of luck.
507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think women will make better gamblers by their nature? on: January 28, 2024, 11:33:44 PM
Sex doesn`t determine winning in gambling. Everyone faces the same thing when gambling. Whether man or woman you need luck to win. Gambling is not likened to a company that has a preference for women and employs only women to work in the company. It is a game of uncertainty and so, sex doesn`t make it any easier or difficult. It is the same for both male and female gamblers.
508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Use your winning responsibly on: January 28, 2024, 11:11:24 PM
When winning big in gambling, it is important to invest that money properly, because there is a lot of risk involved, so anything can happen at any time. So a large part of the money won from gambling should be invested which will give good returns in future.

I support your opinion. Winning in gambling can become a nightmare if it is not invested. Some people won the lottery but broke after a while due to a lack of investment and an increase in their staking power. The fact that gambling is a game of probability is enough to remind us why we shouldn`t hesitate to invest or buy something of desire when we win. Desist from the urge to save because savings can be tampered with and used for gambling.
509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Possible measures to stop online gambling addiction. on: January 28, 2024, 10:44:31 PM
Increasing offline activities maybe become effective in preventing us from gambling online.

I agree with this. Getting so busy with offline activities will create distractions for the gambler that can aid in reducing online gambling. This can be effective because soon it will be made clear to the gambler that he can be happy without gambling.

However, this must also be ensured that when he is alone, with no friends to talk, he can use his time to sleeping. As soon as he wakes up, he has to stay away from gadgets again. If he want to open his gadget, use it for other things that don't trigger the desire to gamble.

This sounds more like a riddle to me than a solution lol! Does it mean he should always sleep when he has no one around? How long will he continue to sleep to prevent gambling? Maybe you are ignorant of the mind of a gambler. Sleep doesn`t prevent anything. This is just like telling someone to take alcohol to get over something. As soon as his eyes are clear he will remember the thing which means the problem wasn`t solved. In my opinion, the gambler should permanently deactivate all his online accounts, unfollow all gambling-related pages and groups in his social media handles, and start participating in other activities not gambling-related but entertaining.
510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling game is not good and everyone should stay away from it on: January 28, 2024, 06:38:24 PM
Gambling is not bad in itself. People partake in gambling for different reasons and it is these reasons which account for the the good or bad in gambling. Humans engage in different activities like swimming, camping, pool, racing etc just for entertainment and so it is for some gamblers. Considering that gambling is fun for some persons, it become an important activity which makes the gambler stay happy. In my thinking, the only aspect of gambling which is bad is addiction. Addiction accounts for the reason why people hold the opinion that it is bad. But then, show me a gambler who gambles for fun or what he can afford to loss and I will show you a person who is happy gambling.
511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any fun in losing while gambling on: January 28, 2024, 05:40:40 PM
Yes, it is normal to experience loss and lose money, but what is unnatural is that many people still cannot accept their defeat and still want to gamble to recover their losses. That would increase their losses even more, and they would not know when to recover their losses. It doesn't feel good to experience loss, but if we can realize that this is a consequence that we have to accept when gambling, we can accept it well. We also won't gamble any longer because we know there is a possibility of experiencing more losses.

I think that not gambling any longer is not a solution. For instance, if I sell my laptop and use the money to gamble and then lose it, if I stop gambling, does it take away the fact that my laptop was sold and used for gambling? Of course not. The problem remains with the gambler whether he stops or not. If he stops, he must seek another alternative, either selling another property to replace his laptop if the laptop is so important to him or borrowing money. If he borrows money, he becomes a debtor and must seek a way to pay it back. On the other hand, if he continues gambling maybe he will win. But then, instead of advocating that a gambler shouldn`t gamble anymore because of the possibility of experiencing more loss, it will be more profitable for the gambler to set a limitation and stick to it.
512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2 years old kids alone at home for hours, while the father goes gambling on: January 28, 2024, 05:20:48 PM
A gambler can only commit such reckless wrong doing when he is mentally disordered by severe gambling addiction.

In my opinion, an addicted gambler is mentally disordered. Gambling addiction always manifests in problematic behavior and when a behavior is considered problematic, it is against the prescribed way of living in society. An addicted gambler is likened to a drug addict and so compulsive gambling can affect the brain and this can hinder rationality in the gambler`s thinking. An addicted gambler would find it difficult to know the dangers of his behavior to himself and others. He is only concerned about gambling and so loses consciousness about what is happening around him. This is the manifestation of a mentally disordered person.
513  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What strategies do you adopt that can help to make millions in sport betting on: January 28, 2024, 03:43:04 PM
Only luck can make a gambler win millions. No strategy works 100%. As gamblers, we always try out new things with the hope to win big but none of these strategies has been proven 100% and that is why we are yet to win millions. If we interview people who won millions from gambling to find out the strategy they used, all of them will say that it was luck because before placing the bet they didn`t foresee winning. This is different from reading so well for an examination and having confidence that you will pass the examination due to your level of preparedness for the examination. In gambling, it is different. You can never know the outcome.

I remember when I won $5200 on football betting, a friend called in and said I should show him my strategy. My response was that gambling is a game of luck, I have recorded more losses and if it is a case of strategy I should be winning every day. He said, well, I should always PM him whenever I make predictions. He stopped playing my games when I didn't win for a week lol.

The above notwithstanding, some strategies can be adopted to minimize loss. Bet only on weekends because there are so many games in the market during weekends. In addition, stake only of few games (2-3) with an amount you can afford to lose because nothing is certain in gambling.
514  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Prove me wrong: Gambling is both more relaxing and entertaining than trading! on: January 28, 2024, 03:18:56 PM
Since I am into both stock trading and football betting, I can agree that gambling has an entertainment value when compared to stock trading. I have no fun in stock trading. I have been into sports betting for 6 years and I can say that even when I lose, I am still entertained since I watch most of the games I staked on without considering how much I have staked. I always try to watch the games and stay happy. This is something you don't get in stock trading.

I have been into trading for 12 years now and successful for 7 years. It is always painful losing money because the only reason I trade is to make money. I have always preoccupied my mind with when the market might open the next day. Sometimes, when I make a profit, I am still not happy because I would have profited more if I had waited a day to liquidate.
515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who among you here is gambling at work? on: January 28, 2024, 02:42:39 PM
In some countries betting is so commonplace that you might end up having better coworker relationships if you bet together!

Gamblers easily get along with other gamblers since they can easily share their experiences and strategies on how to be a successful bettor. For instance, during weekends, I and my friend analyze games together with the hope that we will win since we are both into sports betting. This has increased our bond over time. Any of us who wins sponsors the dinner night. This can be the same with colleagues who gamble. Sometimes at work they talk about their different bets, either win or lose and this can create camaraderie among them but that doesn`t justify gambling at work since the implication surpasses building friendships with co-gamblers at work.

Some jobs are so demanding that gambling while working can create stress and this can hinder the performance of the worker. The worker will show signs of laziness because he will spend more time completing a task than usual since part of the time was used for gambling. If the worker handles finance in the workplace, it becomes tempting to use the company`s funds to gamble.
516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can gambling addiction lead to domestic violence? on: January 28, 2024, 02:02:33 PM
Yes, I think that it can show domestic violence because from continuously losing games, the beast in some men may emerge to hurt their spouse. But please note that. On the other hand, this isn’t the case for everyone because some men can lose a lot of games due to their addiction and when they are home with their wife, they just lay down, sad and depressed.

If someone hits their partner, it’s in them already, the gambling just revealed the truth. GAMBLING ADDICTION IS NO EXCUSE FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

I agree with your submission. Whether a gambler exhibits domestic violence or not, is predicated on the fact that individuals are different and so behave differently. Naturally, some gamblers have anger issues and the anger can easily be triggered if such a gambler is addicted because there will always be a transfer of aggression whenever he loses. No doubt, GAMBLING ADDICTION IS NO EXCUSE FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE as you have noted, but then, we shouldn`t pay deaf ears to the fact that some addicted gamblers have depicted characters which show domestic violence. Hence, it is my opinion that gambling addiction can trigger domestic violence.
517  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When I'm emotional, I LOSS! on: January 28, 2024, 01:37:51 PM
We should always keep in mind to never let our emotions take over or to let our emotions play for us because negative consequences will be more likely disregarded. Accept that there will be times you are losing. If you're pissed of what happened on your day, avoid playing. Your emotion will just be diverted to gambling and will just create another problem on your end. Take a pause and engage to other activities that will ease your mind and will kill your time. You'd be more pissed of almost everything once you suffered from huge loss instead of calming down.

This is easier said than done. For compulsive gamblers do you think it is easy to control emotions? Gambling apart, is the control of emotion so easy? How do you feel about getting heartbreak or losing a very close friend? Losing in gambling can generate similar or the same feeling if you are addicted. We can say that gamblers should control their feeling but how can it be made manifest? Is it even easy for a gambler who lost funds meant for payment of bills to control his emotions and pretend that nothing happened? Only a person who gambles with what he can afford to lose can control emotions or a person who gambles for entertainment. Any other category of gamblers will find it so difficult to control emotions.

Gambling with emotions is so bad. You will gamble with all your funds before gaining consciousness. It is clear to the gambler that he is gambling out of anger and frustration but cannot stop since he is on a journey to recoup his losses. This I call a journey without a roadmap, you will fall back to nothing. All gamblers know that some days can be bad for gambling and it is better to avoid those days than try to control emotions when you are already losing heavily. It is better to prevent such a scenario. Emotional gambling can push you into losing all your money and then begging for food. Thus, a gambler should be moderate with his stake because that can aid emotional control.
518  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 28, 2024, 01:05:37 PM
However Leverkusen feel confident about him to stay at least for another season. They say Xabi Alonso has already started to build the squad for next season. Maybe things can really go on like they expect but I can't be sure of that. He played for Liverpool for years as well so Liverpool must have a special place in his heart.
So true but it's not giving guarantee if he will be a good coach too. Yet this is still my speculation but we shall wait for another update to come regarding the candidates to become liverpool's coach. The management needs to reconsider a lot of names. It's caused by liverpool shall not be randomly picking the new coach.
It will be a disaster if liverpool will get someone like graham potter to be a new coach for the club.

Xabi Alonso appears to be the most interesting possibility right now, but isn't it too early to manage a big club like Liverpool under such pressure? Steven Gerard He had the best season with the Rangers, and everyone thought he was ready, but when he eventually moved to a more intense league, he couldn't handle it. Xabi is enjoying a terrific season, no question, but it is too early in his career to move to a big team.

Graham Potter isn't wholly horrible; he's still the second manager with the highest win percentage as Chelsea manager since Tuchel was fired; he has experience, but he wasn't given enough power to get top players at Chelsea to work for him. The Liverpool team has
519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 28, 2024, 12:53:40 PM
I just remembered that Liverpool have 2 matches that will be quite difficult in the EPL, namely against Chelsea and Arsenal. Maybe against Chelsea won't be so difficult. But against Arsenal might be a serious challenge for Liverpool. Because Arteta's team cannot be underestimated. Since last season they have continued to try to win the title and compete with Man City. In the FA Cup Liverpool can beat Arsenal. But in the EPL I don't think it will be as easy as in the FA Cup.

Liverpool hasn't beaten Chelsea in their last seven meetings, and this is undoubtedly the most tough match for them, unless you haven't been following Liverpool - Chelsea H2H.

Chelsea are picking up form quite well and hasn't lost in their last 8 games in all competition.

I think Benzema is doing the right thing by thinking of leaving Saudi Arabia at the earliest opportunity. The criticism towards his performance there must have crossed the line that it led him to delete his Instagram account.  Sad

Benzema is one of the great centre-forwards I have ever seen and it would be lovely to watch him in Europe again if possible. But a return to Real Madrid doesn't look possible. If we watch him playing for a powerful European team again then I think he will start showing a much better performance than now. He is 36 years old but I would like to remind that it was only two years ago when he won a Ballon d'Or.  Smiley

The Saudi Arabia journey did not go as planned, and Benz is not the only one on his way out; Herderson left for Ajax barely six months after signing with the Saudi club. Some players are already considering to return to European football due to the level of competition and, I believe, the awful weather. Those who actually care about the game are returning to Europe.

Real Madrid has never taken back any of its legends before. Ancelloti stated that it is up to the club to decide, but he does not see the possibility of Benz returning to Real Madrid, as he is already off the hook. A loan to one of the English clubs seems to the only way out for him unless he cut down his wages.
