501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Should PandaCoin (PND) add PoS? on: April 21, 2014, 08:27:26 PM
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=131940.0

This for example was fixed in the kernel of peercoin by using entropy from the PoW blocks.

You can read more about the fundamental problems here: http://blog.ethereum.org/2014/01/15/slasher-a-punitive-proof-of-stake-algorithm/

Interesting. Thanks for bringing this up.

Doing a hybrid of both protocols is indeed possible but harder to execute. I'll be taking a look at how blackcoin accomplished being pure PoS.
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Should PandaCoin (PND) add PoS? on: April 21, 2014, 07:15:21 PM
I dont get your answer, you are talking about adopting to PoS, so you clearly must have a wise plan to fix all the issues that it introduces?

Most of the stuff has been talked over and over again here, and noone found a good solution so far, what peercoin does seems to be the best solution right now.

Would you mind pointing out which issue(s) you're referring to? I'm guessing you're talking about malicious stakeholders?
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Should PandaCoin (PND) add PoS? on: April 21, 2014, 07:07:46 PM
And what is your plan to get rid of the pure PoS vulnerabilities?

Adopting it would be one thing. Fixing longstanding code another.

Lots of interest lately!
The value is growing steadily, and there are new investors everyday.

Good thing I mined with the multipool when the price was low  Cool

could you explain whats going on with multipool - maybe a link

The multipool is at http://multi.pandapool.info.

A description on how to get started is to be found on the page.
505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Should PandaCoin (PND) add PoS? on: April 21, 2014, 05:14:07 PM
PoS please.

Is it possible to reduce the maximum number of coins? The initial total supply (100 trillion) PnD is just way to much. That's one reason why the price suddenly plummeted and has almost no chance of a comeback.

Thanks for the feedback.

The current cap is at 100 billion. Personally I wouldn't be fond of changing that aspect but since we will be working on a better reward structure in the future, we might consider it.

Hmm, interesting PANDA alive too it seems now?

PandaCoin (PANDA)/Litecoin
@Mintpal
LAST PRICE
0.00000012  24 HR HIGH
0.00000012  24 HR LOW
0.00000005  24 HR VOLUME
114.784 LTC

I'm really interested in how this thing will turn out now seeing as the dev team seemingly has left the scene.

Should it get people working on it with a proper mindset then good for them.

PoS would be great
do you have to keep wallet unlocked to generate blocks?
i mean PoS would keep network secure, but what about our wallets?

The wallet would need to be unlocked.

or you could respond to what i said.. it's up to you lol
lazy much ? hahaa

Only fair since your comment was more than half-assed, but as you wish.

it's a classic routine we have seen lots in the last year.. a method of refresh coins to compete with the P&D's

Why do you call this type evolution and progress a "refresh"? Again, it's only something we consider besides merged-mining. We are presenting it as an option and would like to determine how it would perform in the future.

in turn under mine the old coin

See above. Should we take this path we won't abandon anything.

PND is one of the better performing altcoins right now.

If you have nothing productive to add, please consider leaving this thread.

why are people changing the rules in the middle of the game ?

Honestly you guys see the PoS hype train and think that going pure PoS will save your coins.

Next thing you know, you guys will make the PoS pay out 100% per year, but not before loading up on PND.

pretty sleezy if you ask me.

Please read:

Nothing has been changed yet. This thread exists to determine the opinion of the people currently involved with the coin. You know, those who are planning beyond the quick buck that most miners on this board are trying to make.

Honestly you guys see the PoS hype train and think that going pure PoS will save your coins.

Presenting an option doesn't mean it's a definite solution.

pretty sleezy if you ask me.

Clearly you're not aware about the current state of this coin or what it stands for.

Please refrain from posting senseless assumptions without doing your research first.

I've updated the poll (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=572462) with a few more infos and an option for merged mining with DOGE.

For this purpose I had to reset the current votes, so sorry about that.

Previous results:

Pnd price starting to rise, great work on the multipool

yes indeed.... slow but steady rise it seems... compliments!

So is PND going POS any time soon or will it stay the way it is now? Wink

There's still indecision about using either PoS or merged mining with DOGE. Let me update that poll real quick.

Hey we now have a new Pandacoin faucet! Thanks to altcoinfaucet a wonderful faucet service  Smiley
our altcoinfaucet Pandacoin Info page: http://pandacoin.altcoinfaucet.net/info/

So here we go:

URL: http://pandacoin.altcoinfaucet.net/
Stats: http://pandacoin.altcoinfaucet.net/stats/
PND donation: PEbgX7nzt8hdLhv5GWstBX3PpnZgYSpTg9   Please donate some PND here to keep the faucet functioning

per altcoinfaucet
The chain still needs to sync, so that the donations to the faucet might
not show up instantly.
Once there are some coins in the faucet, I'll announce it on twitter.

Thank you. Added to the OP.

today i opened my wallet after some time and it stayed frozen at "2 weeks behind" .
So i downloaded last update and its not syncing and still frozen at "2 week behind". and in my wallet is this :

"warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes need to upgrade"

can someone help me?

It might be that you're on the wrong blockchain. Try these steps:

  • Stop the application
  • Go to %appdata%\PandaCoin
  • Remove every file in there EXCEPT wallet.dat
  • Start the application

For my part, I'm developing a service exclusive to PND, which you can find here: 1dash.net

It's a user defined dashboard. What this means is that, instead of having data thrown at you, you choose what data you want to see, and the layout with which you want to see them. It's designed with ease of use in mind, you can just drag&drop and resize your panels whichever way you like.
1# Update!

This is a functionality update. PND voting for features has been added. This is huge because this was the last big thing I wanted to add before beta, and because
1# IS NOW OFFICIALLY A PND EXCLUSIVE SERVICE

You can vote for features by clicking "Roadmap" from the top-right menus. Then click the "Fund" button, you'll see an address. Send any amount of money you want to fund the features you want, but keep in mind that the features with most funding will get implemented first.
Every feature will be assigned an unique address

Please keep in mind that this feature is kinda rough for now, I'd like to optimize some things, but It should work.
There is a problem with the PND daemon, and in case it crashes you won't be able to generate an address for donation. It's kinda improbable, tho. Anyway don't worry as no PND will be lost in any case.

(oh, and remember that 1# isn't quite in beta yet, so there WILL be bugs)

Feel free to comment, post bugs etc., but most of all
Have fun!

Thanks for the update.

question: how did you compile it ?

https://github.com/IParn/limecoin/blob/master/doc/release-process.md

did you use the V3 code source ?

I was using the latest commit from github so I'm guessing it's the correct version.
517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.6 HARDFORK MANDATORY UPDATE on: April 18, 2014, 12:17:50 PM
So many coins have multipool, can we also make a multipool to mine other coin to exchange BTC, and then buy dogecoin actively?

Is it a good idea?

Check out http://multi.pandapool.info (supports DOGE).

No idea why there's no mac client for this coin so I compiled one.

Beta wallet had a trojan. People who downloaded the beta version kindly scan your computers and encrypt all your wallets.

I downloaded the rar, but never extracted it. Should I be okay if I just delete it?

Only running the executable would have been hurtful. Deleting it should be fine.
520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Should PandaCoin (PND) add PoS? on: April 17, 2014, 05:53:26 PM
Not to over complicate but just to brainstorm, what about a hybrid solution.
keep some POW traditional mining (could be merge mine with Dogecoin) along with new POS too?
 Grin

This would be too much of a hassle. It is easier to just go full PoS if anything.
