I actually like the initiative and the color choice, so i wanted to hear what everyone else thought.

I do have a question for you though.....what background image are you going to use to match your scheme?
Thanks. It isn't presented as anything official or final, but I wanted to get the send/receive/message input fields at least usable.

The background image is the one you see - a simple gradient. QT does gradients itself without the need for an image but I wanted to throw something up quickly without too much messing with code, as I speak C++ like a dog plays the xylophone...

I really don't think images as in pictures are a good idea here. Everyone has different tastes, and you need to be really careful about the image to stop it messing up usability across multiple forms and UI elements.

Always keep in mind that we will have a Fiat-BCR gateway that will confirm funds in either direction just as quickly as the blockchain.

I am liking the sound of this. Smiley

There is so much than could/can be done with a distributed banking platform, once the basics are nailed down. The world doesn't need another currency that much, but services for crypto-users... oh gawd is there a market there... and I'm not thinking about the usual cryptognat day trader types (although my bots love 'em) but about bringing something actually useful to Jo Public.

did you make the changes in Qt ? it's a compiled wallet ?

Yes, compiled and working.

The whole Qt needs a rework, not only colors and icons.

I completely agree, but I am amusing myself until someone who knows what they are doing comes along.  Smiley

Tidied up the overview page a bit and toolstripe now has mostly white icons for consistency:

Of course it's up to the dev to decide if he likes any of this. His, "Interesting!" was, ah,  very diplomatic...  Cheesy

I'd really like to see the Darksend box moved off the overview page into a tab of its own. (Sadly this lies beyond my current abilities. Sad)

I think Darksend is pretty peripheral to the point of Bitcredit, and shifting it would allow for an easier unjumblification of the recent transactions, which are currently a squished mess.

Any opinions?

Off to play with the splash screen next, as that's about the height of my talents.  Grin

Been fiddling a bit with the paint job. Send and Receive tabs will in future hopefully feature actually legible input fields!

Current battleship grey theme is a working compromise as half the UI elements are black and the other half white...  Roll Eyes  (And the lurid purple stripe was making me queasy... Grin). Couple of other little fixes in there too.

Will submit a pull request in the morning for at least the lineEdit legibility fixes.
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BITCREDIT | BANKNODES | P2P LENDING | CREDIT SYSTEM| MANDATORY UPDATE 5/4/15 on: April 15, 2015, 05:43:04 PM

":error while loading shared libraries: libboost_system.so.1.55.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"

Will try again but for now seems there be only 3 BN lol, easy setup would be helpful ...

I had the same error with boost1.55 so I reverted to 1.54 and the daemon started fine:
Code:
sudo apt-get remove libboost*

sudo apt-get purge libboost*

sudo apt-get install libboost1.54-all-dev

Once you get bitcreditd running on your VPS, remember to let it sync up fully before you try any masternode type stuff.

Now 4 BNs! Congrats to... alganonim?  There are a bunch more 250k lumps sitting in the rich list. Let's hope they are all technically clueless for another week or so, I need to build up some working capital.  Cheesy

How does InstantX guard against Blockchain Reorganization after a masternode has locked a transaction?

Reorg simply means that another chain is discovered with more proof-of-work than their own. That also means that all blocks in both chains have been approved by the system and do not contain conflicting transactions. In the case that an approved block does contain a conflicting transaction, the client will remove the block when the lock comes in. So there's no case in which you can switch to a chain with a conflict.

Thanks for explaining.
But does that mean the transaction locking overrides a previous block with an approved transaction if there is a conflict thus voiding the transactions or is it only delayed?

AFAIK, no. If a tx has been baked into the chain by the miners then the MN network will not be able to achieve a conflicting lock. Transaction locking only extends forward from the last mined block.

I have always thought that the obsession with deflation was misplaced. I understand the concept: in theory, people won't pay $10 today for something that will be $9.98 tomorrow.

But that's not true, is it? If it was, the electronics industry would be dead. That TV I just bought for $800 today will be $600 next year and $300 the year after that. That goes for every other piece of technology and gadgetry on the market. So I don't really buy the "deflation is death" thing.

The EU is like "OMG we have 0.5% deflation, quick, create more money." Do you really thing somebody is going to refrain from buying a 20,000 euro car because if they wait a whole year, they can get it for a hundred euros less? Not likely!
Harder to keep your debt-slaves in oppressed servitude if progress is being made and they are able to buy stuff cheaper.

I was and still am unsure of a deflationary economy, however, I read someone's point, that even in a deflationary economy, people will spend on things they need or want.  They need food, shelter, clothes, etc... but there are perceived needs, like a car, nicer clothes and shoes, hair cuts, etc... that people don't want to live without.  In the end, even so a currency might be deflationary, people will still purchase these things.  We have simply been taught to throw away cash on junk, spend it until you only have debts.  It will definitely be a completely different mind set to live in a deflationary economy, but it may also be a healthier one.

A currency can be deflationary and be used in parallel with other currencies that are inflationary. Just because one currency is -relatively- deflationary, doesn't mean that the economy goes to deflation.

The "bitcoin = deflationary = bad because deflationary economies don't work" argument is flawed because it is based on the assumption that national economies are based on bitcoin, when they aren't.

Even if bitcoin was the sole currency worldwide, the major problem would not be the currency, but the fiat debt scheme that needs to be "serviced" with interest - something that a finite money supply doesn't allow. The unserviceable levels of debt are a far bigger problem than the currency. Inflationary currencies just make debt more "viable" in order to perpetuate debt-slavery for nations and individuals. And this is not predicted to stop anytime soon.

Bravo! Smiley

A finite / deflationary currency should be irrelevant to the inflation or deflation in price of the goods that are traded in that currency.

People have been brainwashed by decades of central bank market rigging and money printing to believe that a deflationary currency is somehow evil. It is, but only to central bankers. Cheesy

There are many reasons for goods to become cheaper, some 'good,' some 'bad,' but it's time to unshackle your minds of the currency you use to buy those goods having anything to do with it. It does in the current kick-the-can banker-debt-farce, but it really should not matter.

'Service' 'industries' like banking and the whole financial sector are not and never will be creators of real growth, value or prosperity. They just suck money out of the economy at the expense of he rest of us.

Yeah you need about 2GB RAM to compile it, but the daemon uses very little when running, my VPS only has 512MB RAM and it's averaging just under 100MB used since I started the BN. I compiled at home and scp'd it to the VPS. And don't skip the strip! Unstripped bitcreditd is >100MB, stripped it's about 6MB.

Don't forget you'll need bitcredit-cli as well as bitcreditd, as all the RPC calls have been shifted out of bitcreditd for no good reason.  Grin

Bittrex wallet back in action!  Grin  Kiss

Finally  Cheesy

Maybe it's stupid question but, BCR wallet is not like others and I want to be sure, where to find receive address ?

Receive / Request Payment to ? tick (Reuse an existing receiving address) - why it's (not recommended)

And btw a lot of fields with black/dark background are unreadable until it clicked.

Under Receive tab, there should be at least the default address listed as 'no label' - highlight it and click the Show button on the bottom, you should get a pop-up with a bar code and a copy/pastable address.

Or go to the Debug window (2/3rds way down the vertical purple stripe thing below printer icon) > Console tab > and type 'listaddressgroupings' or 'getaccountaddress <label>' ...etc.

While you are at it, make a wallet backup now, and don't forget to also 'dumpprivkey <address>' for every funded address (issue 'walletpassphrase <passphrase> 30' first to unlock) - keep the privkeys it responds with safe - print, laminate, bury in garden, steganographically embed in something, tattoo on your crocodile's tonsils, etc.- and you will be able to recover your BCR in the event of alien zombie tentacle horror laptop eating invasion. You will thank me later.

And yes, the colour scheme is currently a mess...  Undecided

Is it possible for you guys (fabulous DASH devs) to create some automation in the creation/management/updating of masternodes? Make it so that you don't have to be a Linux savant to be a masternode owner? (I know that's an exaggeration but....)

It would be awesome if the majority of what we have to do as masternode owners could be done through the wallet.

There are definitely some things that Spreadcoin did better (or at least made much easier) in this regard. Starting a MN involved ticking a checkbox if you were happy running a hot MN, or ticking the checkbox and copy/pasting the generated key into your .conf file to run a cold MN. That was it.

Having said that, there are pros and cons either way. SPR doesn't need a static IP which makes for better MN decentralisation, but means more people are running MNs on shitty domestic connections. So far the DRK devs prefer the static IP approach which probably results in a more stable network, at the cost of more MN centralisation at Vultr/Amazon etc. This is greatly ameliorated by the necessity of compromising the vast majority of MNs to achieve any sort of successful attack however, and and MN centralisation risk pales in comparison to the continued awful mining centralisation.

Plus, there are ~2500 MNs out there, maybe only run by <500 individuals, but it really isn't that hard to do as it is. MNs get paid to provide a service, it isn't unreasonable to expect MN ops to actually have a clue what they are doing...  Smiley

Can the rest of the community provide some feedback as well?

Nitpicking here, but since you asked, I don't like the word 'proprietary' - in software terms that's usually taken to mean closed source and closed source = inherently untrustworthy.

Unique/innovative/revolutionary/open source... some other adjective?

Thank You all for this, I hope that bittrex' wallet maintenance will finally ends now and I could try to start up my first Bank Node Wink

Now when we have blockexplorer on cryptoid, is there any chance for something like this for Bank Nodes ?

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dash/masternodes.dws

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/crave/masternodes.dws

I'd like that

Chainz support thread for requests and issues is:

edit, from fairglu:

"Also two more questions: what is the PoW algo? and I see banknodes/masternodes mentioned, but could not find an API to list them. If you have one, I could enable the world map like for Dash & Crave explorers."

Maybe bitcreditscc is better placed to answer this, as I know bugger all about the PoW algo except it's called momentum I think, and AFAIK the RPC calls are the same as DRK for Masternode stuff but I don't know for sure as I haven't set up my BN yet due to the bittrex situation.

519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BITCREDIT | BANKNODES | P2P LENDING | CREDIT SYSTEM| MANDATORY UPDATE 5/4/15 on: April 14, 2015, 10:40:40 AM
to avoid disruptions, i am putting my nodes on the longest chain. All connection issues should be resolved when my vps nodes go up since they hardcoded in everyone's wallet.

I would have wanted to take more time to fix voting, since it is crucial that the decision making process be less centralized , but we need the network moving more right now.

I want to thank those that took charge in my absence and did their best to keep things going.

source code is up already, windows version incoming

Can someone please update the blockexplorer?  I believe we're synced and on the longest chain but have no way to verify.

Thanks
