How does this project use a blaockchain?
The blockchain is used to track all the mining and transactions similar to other cryptocoins. Please read the OP for more on the GeoCoin specs. The current block reward is 1 GEO per block. |

You will need to do your research for your mining hardware to find the right settings, a lot of testing may be required to find the balance. Glad you got a new miner working  |

Yeah, I tried using it.... but for some reason, my .bat file is not loading. You just download the GPU miner from GitHub and create a new TXT file, then import the information it states on SuperNova and change the user.miner and then password. Right? Then change the TXT file for a BAT file and run. But whenever I run the file, it does not run. It just opens for a split second and automatically closes. Instead of using a bat file you can use command line to run the individual commands. Then you should receive any error messages that occur without the window closing. Hope it helps figure out which command is not working properly. Here's what I've been using, note it says -k qubitcoin, see if that helps setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100 setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1 sgminer -k qubitcoin -o stratum+tcp://geo.suprnova.cc:6009 -u Weblogin.WorkerName -p WorkerPassword -I 16 -g 4 -w 128 --difficulty-multiplier 256 |

So what is the limit for GeoCoins? What is the total amount of GeoCoins that can be available?
I believe once all 5,000,000 blocks are mined there will be a total supply of 6,833,000 GEO |

Definitely a lot of excitement here in the thread recently. I agree with chocobo that the current block reward is set to 1. There was no massive dilution of GEO over night, we simply got a new block explorer setup which now provides the accurate market cap information. The specs determine the block reward and those settings have not been changes since inception of this coin. They started off at 10 GEO per block and have been reduced over time to 1, as opposed to halving the block reward like Bitcoin does. Hope that helps clear up some confusion.

???Something wrong with the sync like 2 months ago.
The bittrex wallet shows "The last block update occurred 719 minutes ago.".
My geocoin-qt wallet had waited for new block more than 11 hours too.
Below is the node list in my geocoin.conf file:

This is a great coin for geocachers, and a geocaching app that can go mainstream in the Geocaching community is important. This is all happening thanks to the hard work from the dev. Geocoin can REALLY stand apart from othercoins if some sort of FINTECH feature was also involved. Im not sure what that would entail. Just a thought. It would also attract a lot more investors. Maybe help get that article in FORBES.
Yea, sir Richard Branson will read that article and buy all geocoins by one click, lol. He likes invest in crypto. Need only 165 BTC(~less than half of $ million) to do that, not so much. Having a GeoCoin/GeoCashing app has always been part of my plan, my focus in the near term is to get the new MapBox interface up and running. I agree the app would definitely draw more people and attention to the community and maybe even land us a publication. Richard Branson would also need all GeoCoin community members to have weak hands in order to suck them all in, haha. |

Should be around 3,050,000 right? Yes that is correct, I calculate the current amount at 3,047,792
There is a massive community of active geocachers worldwide and the number of geocaches is up in the millions. According to geocaching.com, the community includes over 800 thousand active geocachers and 2.8 million geocaches worldwide. https://www.geocaching.com/press/faq.aspx
