501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Risk only what you can afford to lose on: December 10, 2023, 10:14:18 AM
Let's talk about the king solution of keeping your Bitcoin safe, which to me is the airgapped hardware wallets but is it safe to say that they are 100% safe? I think the answer is no..

What and what is likely to go wrong with airgapped hardware wallets?

1. Cord connection: data can still be transmitted when connecting the hardware wallet to your PC.

2. SD Card: some comes with Sd card option for updating the hardware wallet, but I am not sure that using Sd card can always be safe either, I remember those days where I use to buy lots of Sd card because they have issues easily and also they get viruses easily. Old Symbian and Android users here?

3. QR Codes: honesty, QR codes are not readable by the eye, they comes with blocks like figures, there is no way to know what's written in that QR code anyway, there is no way to read it and know what kind of data is inside it.

4. You still have to rely on the company for future safetiness of the hardware wallet in terms of software updates, if someone hackers find a way to alter the upcoming update file you know what could happen.

The only healthy solution is to understand that there is no guarantee in crypto, risk only what you can afford to lose, even after every thing, something can still always go wrong.

You can limit the risk by choosing to not connect your hardware wallet to your PC or any PC for updates, use sdcards instead, but make sure you use a brand new Sdcard for your updates, once you use one for update today, store in a safe place simply for your hardware wallet updates only, do not use for saving files or downloading.

Do not scan QR code you find online, only scan when paying to another crypto wallet or you want to sell your BTC on an exchange, QR codes can come with malicious things too.

As for the software update from the companies, pray that nothing bad comes up from their side, I still strongly believe that they are the only thing that can easily messed up hardware wallet security.

Stay safe out there kings and happy holiday 🎅

502  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you regret also for ever knowing about gambling? on: December 09, 2023, 01:35:51 PM
I bet many people have this regrets right now and that's because they are in losses bigger than they have ever won from gambling, many have dreams and hopes on gambling as their sole provider or their means of changing their life but on their gambling journey for few years they have learned that such dream is not always possible for every gambler.

I honestly don't have any regrets, because in my family we hated gambling so much that it's a normal thing for children in the family to get warned especially about gambling, it's like the family taboo, I remember my father always telling us to never be a fan of gambling, because it's the easiest way to losing yourself.

While growing up I found out that they are warning us because of the possible manipulation that gambling has in one's life, it's easier to strongly believe only in gambling and shun everything else out of your life, until it destroys you, but if my old man is still alive today I will like to tell him that I found my own way with gambling, I gamble without it having any bad effect on me, because I choose to be a responsible gambler and anyone can do it too, if they aren't greedy.
503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What will you say within your limits to encourage responsible gambling? on: December 09, 2023, 12:11:54 PM
Every gamblers knows their limit and I don't want to call a number for anyone, the thing is many gamblers don't listen to the responsibility of becoming a gambler, they are too focused on how much they can win from a game with a certain amount, that's why they feel very bad when they lose money.

Been a responsible gambler is not about how many times you can win some money, its about continues gambling that have no negative impact on your life, business and your daily activities, and the only way to make this be this way is by avoiding using gambling as your main focus in life, engage in gambling if you have money to lose.

Gambling is a game where you decide on what a possible outcome might be, it's like trying to predict the future which makes you not in control of anything, so there for you need to risk only what you can afford to lose.
504  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would you pay $1M dollars worth of BTC or USDT for an El Salvadorian passport? on: December 09, 2023, 11:10:28 AM
Like seriously? Do you know many countries are better than this El Salvador? It's not a heaven paradise here on earth, I don't see any reason why anyone should do this, $1M dollars is a lot of money if I convert it into my local currency, I will live like a king in many countries that are better than El Salvador.

If it's possible to buy a Plot of land on Satoshis island I would probably do this, but I guess the lands on there are just for rent on time bases, I wish, hehe, mind you, in coming years if things go very well with Bitcoin and crypto I believe that few countries will fully embrace crypto just like El Salvador is doing right now.

If I have $1M dollars right now I would invest most of that into Bitcoin and wait for a pleasing cash out by 4th quarter of 2024, or when I see Bitcoin reach over 80k in value, good luck 🎲 .
505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and Behavioral Change!!! on: December 09, 2023, 10:14:47 AM
Do you know how easier to get angry when you lose? This is not always about betting your money, I know someone who always get into a bad mood when the football club he is supporting is losing a match or lose a match, and that's all for the love he has for the football club, now imagine the same person betting some money on such match?

That's why we need to be careful when we gamble, you are powerless when you are betting your money on a future event, anything is bound to happen, but how can you make sure that the pain won't be much if things aren't going your way? The solution is to use small amount of money only.

If you plan bet on a match with just $1 and you lose the game, what could happen to you? Your mood won't be ruined compare to losing $100 or $500, the smaller you risking on games the safer you will be, and also your behavior will still be normally intact.
506  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The message remains consistent from January to December on: December 07, 2023, 08:07:24 AM
The consistent message throughout the year, from January to December, persists: Get your coins off exchanges. Those who dismiss the harsh and unfortunate lessons of others may find themselves learning from their own expereince. We'll be here to say, "We warned you, but you didn't heed the advice." A recent incident involving a Twitter user, exemplifies this. He called out Binance after his account, holding over fifteen thousand USD, was inexplicably deleted. Despite the assistance of an alleged Binance support staff in restoring the account, the coins remained missing, and the account history vanished without a trace.
Again I say, safeguard your coins by removing them from exchanges. Do you ever trust that they will be safe there.

If you are wondering where to move your bitcoins to after taking them off exchanges, here is what Charles-Tim advises:

Quote
One of the safe way to securely hold bitcoin is the use of hardware wallet, because your bitcoin will be readily accessible for you to use unlike many other cold storage means. But you need to be careful and operate your hardware wallet with the app you will use to operate it with clean internet environment with no malware.

Hardware wallets like trezor and ledger nano are recommended, I will also recommend you to use electrum as the app you will use to operate the hardware wallet, you can download it from electrum.org.

But, irrespective of the wallet you are using, you need to operate the device in a clean internet environment in such a way the device used to operate it should contain no malware.
Clean internet environment my foot, do not go for any hardware wallet that needs the internet to transact, this is why I believe that Air-gapped devices are the best, I like hardware wallet that gives no more for PC connection, like no WIFI, no Bluetooth, no Cables, even if there is any new updates available for your hardware wallet, it's not safe to use a PC and cable because you can't know if the PC is already infected or not.

This is why I choose to go with few numbers of hardware wallet in crypto space, especially the ones that can self destruct when someone decides to tampared with them, choose your crypto hardware wallet wisely.
507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greed or risk on: December 06, 2023, 10:08:17 AM
A lack of  satisfaction and high expectations is what makes some gamblers to still continue playing after having a win that was supposed to be taken as the achievement of the day but they get unsatisfied with the amount bethinking that maybe if they could try another bet again it might get them lucky to win again but it most times ends in loss. For the fact that I was lucky to win ones or probably twice at a row doesn't make it certain that I might continue in the winning streaks. Sometimes that one win after many times of losses for the day is just fortune own way of smiling at us so we don't go back home completely emptied.
Yep, a gambler who gambles only to earn money from it barely gets satisfied with the winnings no matter how big the amount they've won is, they will always try to increase their winnings and in that pursuit, they lose what they've won if they aren't wise enough to stop at the right time and in most cases, greed takes over the mind of a gambler who is gambling just for the sake of profits and don't consider gambling a source of entertainment or a time killer for them.

People who are gambling for gains and have been losing constantly don't consider a win to be good enough if it's insignificant to cover all the losses they had to bear so far because they would want to recover their losses before they end the session but in most cases, they end up losing everything which will be the end of the session for them.
The main reason why majority of gamblers starts gambling from day one is to make money, and when they win only very little its very hard to be satisfied, someone close to me have once called a car dealer to buy a ride when the gambling match was still ongoing, and in the end he lost the money, imagine gambling doing such thing to you, I knew that people have high expectations from gambling that's why they are used to getting rammed by losses.

The lower your expectations from gambling, the better your results will be, and you will be able to control your greed too, people are too greedy, trying to turn $10 into a million dollars, they will add so many games on their ticket, hoping that all the games comes positive in the end, this habits ruins the mind and make someone lose hope on themselves.

It's not easy to get rich, make sure your way is fair enough, not some superstition way of living, when I gamble with $10 I don't dream to net even a thousand dollars, I have took $20 profit before and I stop gambling for the day, it's free extra $10 and it's a win for me.
508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard about financing a gambler? on: December 06, 2023, 09:07:37 AM
It is better for gamblers to never consider that path, as even if it may seem extremely easy to ask for a loan, gamble with it and if luck is on your side recover all the money you have lost, this rarely happens, and very often what we see instead is for that gambler to lose that money as well.

And this can push a person in a direction from which they may never recover, as instead of accepting their mistake and repay the loan, gamblers may be lured into asking another loan and try to recover their money this way, and once they finally realize the mistake they have made, they will notice their debts have grown to a point in which it is impossible for them to pay them regardless of what they do.

It would be irresponsible for a gambler to borrow money and promise to repay if he wins, that's out of this world condition, it should  something that a lender could expect he'll get as  a collateral, normally fixed property or vehicle. Gamblers who have that kind fo mindset in gambling would likely suffer the worst financial problem, and since no lender would just lend money without assurance, most likely the borrower would end up selling his properties just to be able to pay, while some even go homeless.
It's already a red flag, something not worth giving attention to, what is if he win? That should turn anyone off and only a stupid person will give them money because what if always have two sides, he can win money and he can also lose the money and losing the money will make it very hard for him to pay back.

My father, when he was alive, he used to say that lending money out to an addict either gambler or a alcohol-based is like intentionally throwing money away, such people are losers and they don't know how to pay back anything, he also used to say that addict gamblers have no shame, when they lose everything, they should have learn their lessons, but the keep going hard at it, meaning they are shameless people.

I wonder how he will feel if he is alive today and know that I am also gambling, but anyway, I choose to be a responsible gambler always, I have no expectations from gambling, and I only gamble to have small time fun, so far I win some money and I have also lost some, I am attentively awake on when it comes to risks involved with gambling.

If anyone have find their way to this forum then they have found solution to every crypto problems they have, trying to learn about about crypto? This forum is the answer, if you are still asking for anything at all, it means you aren't reading enough, use the search engine to filter for answers to your problem, it's very easy, when I was starting my crypto journey it was just me alone, those who know about the forum before me failed to teach me anything.

510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Money laundering in crypto casino on: December 06, 2023, 07:21:59 AM
Money laundering on casinos are very possible but it can never happen from the customers side, it will or benefit the casino owner if they are corrupt and also I believe it will be easier for them if they are running the casino offline.

I think the most common money laundering strategy involves the conversion of illegal money into physical casino chips, which are played with in different games before they cashed out as clean money, maybe even in form of a check.

This is why running a casino today is not that easy, you have to register the casino and get licensed, also you have to keep paying taxes, I don't use a casino that isn't regulated for this purposes, unregulated casinos are illegal casinos, they are not licensed and they don't pay taxes.
511  Economy / Gambling / Re: are bookies fortunejack.com & rollbit.com trustworthy with larger amounts ? on: December 05, 2023, 01:08:26 PM
All I can say is you need to gamble responsible, you won't have any problem using fortune jack or Rollbit, as they always have good reviews so far apart from those reviews from people who break some rules and want to make the platform look like the bad ones, so mate, avoid breaking rules, spend time on their ToS first if you are new to these platforms,  as there might be something you plan to do that isn't allowed on the platforms.

Ask yourself, are you a good person? And not involved in any illegal activities? What about your money? Coming from a clean source? No illegal funding? Can you go with KYC verification if you are been asked? Most people that have complains about these casinos are the problems themselves.

If you are sure of yourself you are free to proceed, somehow I kinda like Stake.com more when it comes to gambler who want to use a lot of money, I prefer telling people to use Stake instead, I've never use big money on gambling myself but if I have to it will be on Stake.
512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The worst slot provider ever? on: December 05, 2023, 12:03:46 PM
I do have a very long hard time winning anything from pragmatic, it's like winning is impossible with pragmatic and I need quitting, now I am using Play'N Go and Hacksaw, I still believe that Hacksaw gives me better result than many others but we all know that Slots game is all about luck, so most times I don't always get pleasant result but when it does come it feels very damn good.

At some point I always pity people that use a lot of money on gambling, if I have use money that's high when I was with Pragmatic I would have probably quit gambling thinking or asking myself what's there in gambling than this? But the trick is using small money that won't get you rekt for a long term play until you luck gets unlocked.

The best thing you can ever do to yourself as a gambler is the tolerance of using little amount of money everytime, if you win it's all good and if you lose it's still going to be fine, it costs you little to nothing, which is way way better than trying to aim for the big wins using significant amount of money.
513  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need your contribution and opinion on: December 05, 2023, 11:12:38 AM
If you are looking for something that you can hold unto like the real Gold, it's Bitcoin and that's why it's the most talked about, you have no worries if you invest money that you won't be needing in few weeks, it's a better asset to hold on to for the long term, like right now I am planning my retirement with Bitcoin.

You don't need to get 1 Bitcoin, I don't even have up to half of one but I am still on track accumulating as time goes by to get to 0.5 Bitcoin, many newbies like you look for other alternative assets because they believe that one Bitcoin is too costly, but they lack the knowledge that you can still get Bitcoin even if all you can afford every month is $200.

And the fact is in a year or two to this time, Bitcoin will be massive once again in terms of value, you will make good amount of profits either buying just $100 Bitcoin or $1000 Bitcoin, it doesn't matter which is which, just make sure you have some Bitcoin, because it's the only most trusted decentralized Digital asset that I know.
514  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sympathetic gamblers looses itself on: December 05, 2023, 10:37:09 AM
I have seen such before, a guy who was given some money to deposit in the bank account of his master decide to use it for gambling hoping that he will make money for himself and be able to complete the deposit in the bank account of his master, he lost it all and sat in the front floor of the casino, crying so hard that people start asking what when wrong, that's how I knew about everything, I end up not showing any pity for him because it's clear that he doesn't deserve any sympathy.

I am still surprise how people can be so expecting of gambling, like it's the perfect solution for their lack of money, how will gambling solve your problem honestly? You have not learn a skill in real life, you failed to learn anything that will help you, even if you can't get some degrees you should learn a skill and start making money first, this is the right way.

Gambling is not a solution even if you are consumed by heavy poverty, you will f yourself up even harder and you may probably lose your sense of integrity and principles, gambling is not a solution to financial problem, take it with a mind of spending time to do fun things.
515  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: X.com (Twitter) is approving phishing website ads, beware on: December 04, 2023, 01:20:14 PM
I always get tons of tweets like this, and the sender will tag my name to the tweets, the thing is I don't like freebies and I will never fall for some cheap trick, they will copy the original project tweet and using a malicious link on their retweet, if you try to claim those shit fake airdrops your wallet will be broken and they will steal all your assets.

Right from time twitter has been like this, even before Elon Musk took over the company, I always thought he will do better and defect this scammers but I was wrong, you are to protect yourself,  the fastest thing that get you killed is freebies, if you like free things you will fall into traps of anything, have some self worth and stand on the fact that nothing is really free.

Now that the next bull market is months far away you should know better that scammers will start having more energy to pull their stunts on people that love free things, imagine how devastated you will be if you lose everything when the bull market is very close.
516  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CASHOUT OR NOT???? on: December 04, 2023, 12:07:35 PM
Like seriously, you play with some money and you are fortunate to win some more money, like what the hell are you waiting for? Right now you should have taken your profits because if one of those two games go wrong you will lose all the money, like why are you been greedy right now? You don't work for that money, take this as fact or leave it, gambling money is like not breaking a sweat and making money, no skills or services got rendered from you.

Greed will likely take over if you don't feel satisfies with money you win in a gamble, many people don't really accept gambling as lucky, they always take it too far until they lose everything, if you really understand the mind behind gambling you will be one of the safest gambler alive, when people are losing fortune you will be smiling because you truly understand what gambling is all about.
517  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have You At Any Point In Time Blame Who Taught Or Led You To Gambling? on: December 04, 2023, 11:00:39 AM
I always wonder why I don't have anyone in my life teaching me something,  it's always like people sees me like a rare one, and they decide not to ever teach me anything even when they know that I am suffering, until one day I had to ask my father, and he told me that I am special, that whatever I try to get or learn will always work for me the way I want it, I never doubted my father and I just kept going harder.

No mentor, nothing, the first time I run a node I grab the hardware from a local church member who have no use to it then, but for me to gain the experience I got it done, it was same with mining Bitcoin and investing, I have always been the boss of myself.

The only tool I could consider to be a good teacher for me was using Google search engine, it was even how I found the forum too, as for gambling, no one introduce me to it, in fact no one introduce me to anything in crypto space and financial investments.
518  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Its A Gambling Joke But Reflects Bad Things About Gambling on: December 04, 2023, 09:33:20 AM
I don't know if you've encountered this joke before, I often see it in my feeds coming from Gambling groups where I am a member

Guy 1: Hey, I have a friend who gambles a lot, and he just bought a new bike.

Guy 2: Wow! Your friend must have been lucky in gambling.

Guy 1: No! He used to drive a car but because of gambling, he sold it, and now he just bought a new bike to get to work.

Guy 2:  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

The first time I read it I laughed a lot but if you dig deep or think about it you will realize that it reflects many gamblers who are losing a lot and they have to sell things that are important to them and find an alternative.

How about you do you have a gambling joke of your own or you've encountered that reflects the gambling experience of many, come share it here
When it gets to the level of you selling anything for gambling then you are a bad gambler, you need to change your strategy or you will keep back from grace to grass, I pray none of us to end up like this because of gambling, because it's just not worth it, I don't have a joke about gambling, it's something I choose to never take too serious because it's ways of making money is not even seriousness anyway, you turning $100 into $20,000 is like too good to be true, remember you aren't breaking any sweat.

This idea in my head never let me believe anything from gambling, to me it's just too easy and I expect the result to be not always good,  because if it's this easy to make money, everyone will quit their jobs and become a gambler instead, I choose to believe the right things and I choose to take gambling as a gambling, no hope and no dream, just do it when you have the extra money.

I can do crazy things for real assets like Gold and Bitcoin, I can sell my car to buy Bitcoin, I will still make a lot for doing this, because Bitcoin isn't depending on my own luck, it has it's utilities and value, no luck attached to investing unless you lack how to go about it.
519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling are mainly for rich and lucky mind. on: December 03, 2023, 01:03:54 PM
Gambling isn't for the rich only, I have seen few poor people that did very well with gambling, also even the rich people lose money to gambling too, it's not like the rich are always more luckier in gambling than the poor, I also don't recommend copying someone when gambling simply because they are full of luck at the moment, believe it that it won't always be the same.

Everybody is a lucky person and luck doesn't always come even if you need it right away, that's why you need to gamble with what you can afford to lose since you can't even know if luck is on your side today or not, so taking the smallest risk is the best you can do for yourself.

Many people gamble to make profit, that's a fact, but the chances is very small, it makes no sense to risk too much when it's 95% possible that you will lose the money, the chances of winning isn't worth it, this is why you must always risk what you can afford to lose.
520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are You Keeping Numbers Or You Allow The Machine To Pick Your Numbers To Bet on: December 03, 2023, 12:33:00 PM
Some people believe that every number is a lucky number, that's why they get married to a particular number hoping that someday they will win with the exact same number, I don't do lottery because of the impact it have vs just gambling, the idea of dreaming to because a billionaire with lottery ticket is scary for me, I don't want to start feeling like lottery ticket has a way.

Still if I ever feel like doing it I will just go it for fun, my advice is that you should avoid having hope in lottery, it's as same as gambling, you don't want to believe too much in these or else everything else won't matter to you anymore.

Once your focus is shift into gambling you will be giving it more of your time instead of focusing on your business or other good source of income that's not about getting lucky.
