That is a dramatic picture!(Of course you show that to anyone not in cryptos ...) Nonsense, the LTC->DRK trend has almost no influence on the price of Darkcoin. Only 393$ was traded in the last 24 hours on Mintpal between DRK and LTC, which is about 0.14% of all the trading. Chart may look interesting but what really matters is the volume. |

Look we have no problem complying, but 95% of those pools just had to update to the latest version of NOMP (the solution was provided for them) we have to write it custom. We would pay the 20%, and work it in to our formula-- but like I said instructions were not clear, even after we scrubbed through this thread and the darkcointalk one. This is coming from my engineers who spent like the better part of yesterday looking in to trying write in compliance.

Well, we don't run an off the shelf solution, so to create a proper implementation, would take quiet some time, all to make 20% less coin. DRK womps.
I fail to see how the loss of a multipool is going to damage the DRK ecosystem. All it does is limit the options of your miners. It doesn't limit anything for my miners, at -20% DRK is not a profitable coin to mine at all-- on top of that we would have to invest dev time in to what is largely not a very profitable coin. Like I said, we will just be removing it from our rotation, as it does not make sense to mine-- not to mention the DEVs did not make it easy for pools with any clear instructions on what even needs to be automated. Just github links to a bunch of patches for off the shelf solutions--- 0 help really. Thanks for stopping by and for the view from the other side. Yes, the instructions could have been better. A theory on the recent price drop. Hoping to open a discussion. I'm a DRK holder, bought in when cheap (but nowhere near MN levels) and have been mining steadily.
From a miner's point of view DRK looks like a circle-jerk between master node holders. You get the impression that DRK exists so that people can run MNs, which exist so DRK can work and pay the MNs...
Some quick math:
A MN is about a $7000 investment if you bought in while low recently.
Upkeep costs are negligible.
It pays about 1DRK/day.
You can get 100% of your investment back quickly and easily if you want out.
NET RESULT: .00014 DRK/$/day.
My miner cost $2500.
After upkeep costs (and I have the cheapest power in the US) I get about .1DRK/day on a good day. Less than half that on a bad one.
If I got out I might get 50-70% return selling my used hardware by dealing with flakes on ebay and craigslist for a month.
NET RESULT: .00004 DRK/$/day.
Mining is over 3 times less efficient. Unless that ratio starts to change, miners will drop off to the point that the coin is in danger due to low hash rate.
The impression is of the rich just getting richer and the little laborers getting sweatshop pay, and it's a huge turn off.
not sure what you have for a miner, but perhaps you should try my multipool. www.xpool.caCheers! I do not see a problem here. Your investment into miner is much lower and safer than investment into crypto currency. I invested remaining 500 drk into masternode a week ago and I lost about 40% of my investment whereas you did not. Hence, it makes sense to reward the risk takers. If you think the ratio is not fair and the miner is not generating enough income just get rid of the miner, simple as that. |

Its a such a shame they lock down the branding thread on the darkcointalk site. it's the one place non technical people and artists could make cool and substantial contributions. But no. It's just the same dudes stroking eachother. Yep, have some ideas as well - could you at least pass this one to the dev team? Currently, the numbers on the edge of the logo show what is likely a probably nonsensical repetitive pattern: 01101110 01101110 01101110 01101110 01101110 01101110 01101110 01101110. Btw, this is 8 times letter "n" in ASCII Well, WHY not changing it into something that makes sense? Just had my mn set up by Yidakee / Ghostplayer and it went great, he has done everything remotely. Can really recommend his help enough. The node is working flawlessly, waiting for the first payment to come  |
