501  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You can not win if you do not risk on: January 30, 2024, 03:37:15 PM
Staking money on a 50/50 chance of winning or losing it all is already a risk. However gamblers are advised to stake wisely and responsibly. This is to say a gambler should not stake more than he can afford to lose frequently, all in the name of risk taking. This is due to the fact that such risks can bring great losses as much as they can become a potential jackpot.
As a gambler, risking is something that actually happens every time you stake for a game that doesn't mean a gamler should make stakes way above their budget because of the potential jackpot they may hit. As wining in most gambling games still has a percentage dedicated to luck and unfortunately luck can't be on your side 100% of the time. So it is safer to risk what you can afford to lose.
502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying with Bitcoin. on: January 30, 2024, 02:50:52 PM
Is it ok for you to purchase items with Bitcoin? If yes or no, please state your reasons so we can all learn from it.

Why do you think Bitcoin was created in the first place?
If not for the fact that Bitcoin has gained stability and adoption rate exponentially over the years that it can now be used as a perfect asset, it was initially meant by the creator SATOSHI as a peer to peer currency without the government as a third party.
Another thing that makes people use Bitcoin as an asset than a P2P currency aside from the returns is because of the fact that fees can sometimes be uneconomical due to congestions in the mempool otherwise, Bitcoin is a perfect P2P currency.
503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is bitcoin linked to the main owner? on: January 30, 2024, 02:34:17 PM
Aside from the fact that the Bitcoin Blockchain is a decentralized public ledger, Jimmy already let his guard down by being  careless with his privacy. The tracking was way too easy due to the fact that he had already given away his kyc information to an Exchange. Tracking with his IP address alone would have been more tasky for the FEDs but he make it easier since his KYC information was readily available with an exchange. Probably if he had used a mixer the entire process might have played out differently.

505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you preffer your dealer talkative or not? on: January 30, 2024, 03:05:48 AM

Yeah sometimes I just like both ways when I play gamble and feel bored Im totally fine if the dealer is talkative or not. and like you have said before sometimes it makes the game more fun and seems interactive even tho only the dealer that talk and we are not. Besides that usually, I choose the house game blackjack against a computer when I'm not feeling good and find the peace and quiet.

At the end of the day, talkative dealer or not is a personal opinion and there will always be a live card game with talkative dealer or not. So yeah everything will back to our personal.
Yes some persons may believe a non talkative dealer is not being fair or has something to hide even when he actually doesn't. Some other persons like the dealer talkative because some dealers are really good at bringing up nice conversations that would keep up the fun spirit instead of making the game look idle and boring.
For some persons talkative dealers can even be a source of motivation to them when they make losses the joke of talks can console them indirectly which will even allow for a smoother game.
506  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which wallets support 32 word seed phrases on: January 29, 2024, 10:18:49 PM
You can do that on Electrum when you create a wallet there is an option to add custom words of your choice.
However most seed phrases like other users mentioned are usually 12, 18 , or 24 words. However most wallets usually make use of 12 as a default number of words for the seed phrase when you create a wallet.
I recommend you make use of electrum if you want to add your custom words as electrum is safe and open source.
Don't forget to keep your keys safe.
507  Other / Meta / Re: Should bitcointalk ban promotion of other forums? on: January 29, 2024, 04:20:42 PM
Banning is not necessary so long you are not promoting a scam project. From my experience on the forum, even when some user are scammers or promote scam projects , they are not banned most times but rather they are given multiple tags by forum members including DT members.
That is why you should check trust feedbacks of members with reference before dealing with them.
Stick to the unofficial official Bitcoin talk rules and I believe you are good to go.
508  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [PROBLEM] transaction hash not found on: January 29, 2024, 04:11:49 PM
In addition, my advice to you is not to play too much with your seed by entering it into different wallets if there is no need for it. By doing such things, you only expose yourself to the risk of entering a seed into a fake wallet or of the device being infected with malware at some point. Find a wallet that suits you and stick to it - and if you want to try a new wallet, simply install it and create a new seed for that wallet.

This was exactly what I did after I resolved the issues I formated my device and reinstalled my initial wallet software I am familiar with. I definitely can't risk exposing my seed phrase as it is not a wise decision to access your wallet too frequently with your seed phrase just like you mentioned.

I would say 11sat/byte is extremely low even  for the current mempool state. For instance, currently, mempool.space is purging  all transactions with fee less than 21.5 sat/vB.

I think it is always a wise approach  to check this value and set up the fee above it before sending any transaction.
Yes that's very true I normally check the Mempool before I make transactions and of recent I make use of the Mempool Observer Topic by stompix before I make my transactions. I was kind of carried away when I made that transaction. Anyways every mistake is a chance to learn something new. Now I can help someone if he eventually gets into a problem similar to mine.
Thanks to everyone here for your collective assistance.
509  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [PROBLEM] transaction hash not found on: January 29, 2024, 01:17:03 PM
I am kind of confused because the balance reduced again the hash is still not on the Blockchain and mycelium wallet is still displaying sending transaction. I don't know what to do.

Like it was said before your transaction might still be in other node’s mempool or worse still the mycelium wallet is automatically rebroadcasting your transactions and that’s why you seeing it that way and the node they rebroadcast it with has a larger mempool size.

Import your seed phrase into electrum wallet look for server which is shown in the image below, switch between servers and when you see that particular transaction as local then you right click it to delete (although it is not actually deleted from the node that has it) then you make a new transaction with that particular funds make sure you use that particular UTXOs by using the coin control feature.

The logic here is that you’re double spending that transaction, a node that has it already but has full RBF enabled will removed the old one and the one that has it and not full RBF enabled will still keep the old one and reject the new one. But since the fee of the new one is higher there is high chance that it would get confirmed faster than the old one and then invalidate the old one on other nodes.

Please reply if this as been fixed

Thanks alot for the effort.
I was able to fix the issue yesterday. I finally got to know that the fee I used was way too low about 11sat/byte like what was wrong with me?. Anyways the problem was mycelium node was constantly rebroadcasting it even when the network purged it out. So I had to use my seed to access the wallet through blue wallet then I was able to stop the transaction and move the funds without stress but with a better fee.

RickDeckard I am kind of confused because the balance reduced again the hash is still not on the Blockchain and mycelium wallet is still displaying sending transaction. I don't know what to do.
512  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [PROBLEM] transaction hash not found on: January 28, 2024, 08:32:42 PM
Here is the hash;
c46b6954418e9e09a837dbaa153eddb6619ae413c43c5f83db2d894a92941b8d
Transaction is still not on the mempool
Could you check if you are connectable on the software where you sent your transaction from? If you used Electrum to broadcast it, the bottom right circle on the main graphical interface should be green.
I didn't use electrum to make the broadcast.
Anyways I just noticed something weird. The transaction seems to have dropped because my balance on my wallet just increased to its initial value before I made the transaction. However my wallet is still displays ( sending transaction). ?
513  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [PROBLEM] transaction hash not found on: January 28, 2024, 08:08:45 PM
If not for privacy sake it will be better you put the transaction ID here. On this my guess is the node of that particular explorer doesn’t have your transaction probably because they purge it out due to low fee or best your transaction wasn’t propagated well. If you’re still seeing it as unconfirmed on the blue wallet maybe that node you’re connected to still has it though. If you have access to the electrum wallet you can switch the server and be able to broadcast the transaction again.

Try blockchair explorer maybe mempool.space doesn’t have your transaction yet
Like Zagaru said, providing the transaction ID would let us be able to analyze your specific situation (or the receiver bitcoin address), if you feel ok with that. Are you sure that your transaction ended up being broadcasted?

Here is the hash;
c46b6954418e9e09a837dbaa153eddb6619ae413c43c5f83db2d894a92941b8d
Transaction is still not on the mempool
514  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [PROBLEM] transaction hash not found on: January 28, 2024, 06:31:32 PM
~
I really don't know what move to make or what the problem is exactly.

And? Did you manage to find your transaction hash on the mempool and resolve the issue? I see that you were active on the forum very recently, but you did not update this thread about your problem.  I just wanted to check if you were able to figure out the issue by now.

I tried every Mempool on 1miau's thread for Blockchain explorers and all still returned a message saying hash not found.
Something tells me my fees were way too small and really don't know what to do or if I should just wait maybe it would probably drop.
515  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Report Spammers, Spambots and AI Posts Here. on: January 28, 2024, 06:26:11 PM
Thanks to Igebotz for creating this thread. Our local board has been facing a problem of too much spam posts making it difficult to spot important posts with quality.
I can see the thread is beginning to gain importance as Hatchy has done a nice job of also spotting most of these spammers.
I will say Naija board is in despirate need of a moderator and an off topic child board to properly sort these shit posters. I want to believe that the flooding of this board with shit posts is what is making reputable members kindof distant from it.

Me sef go do my own part to gegely report shit posts if I see anyone.
516  Bitcoin / Wallet software / [PROBLEM SOLVED] transaction hash not found on: January 28, 2024, 01:47:15 PM
I am having a bit of an issue here.
I created an Electrum wallet and I later imported the wallet to blue wallet using the seed phrase. After that I tried moving some funds from my wallet across and it seemed to have been broadcasted.
Though the fees I used was low, I tried checking the transaction status on the mempool using the hash but It kept returning an error message saying hash doesn't exist.
I really don't know what move to make or what the problem is exactly.
517  Other / Meta / [SAD] activity on: January 27, 2024, 07:53:53 PM
Don't know if I'm being too emotional here but I think my activity's stuck when it's just 2 left for me to achieve my senior member rank. Anyone here has an experience of what makes mine stuck  Cry ?
I tried reading through the forum about merits and activity and it seems activity is supposed to add up every 14 days so does this mean I have to wait for 2weeks 🥺
518  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is top bitcoin competitor? on: January 27, 2024, 02:21:55 PM

Lol, what? You're going to tell me that there is zero chance that by 303 000 AD when we first exist the Milky Way there is another coin surpassing Bitcoin?
Zero chance?

I get your point but what I meant is that Bitcoin is a Cryptocurrency and of course it's possible some other coin surpasses it in the future but the chances of something like that happening is so thin it's currently negligible and seems impossible. What makes most coins grow is mainly adoption so if some other coin can gain more adoption by Bitcoin, it could probably surpass it but the chances of that happening is just too thin.
Besides that it would be a loss on the side of whales so they probably won't let that happen.
519  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is top bitcoin competitor? on: January 27, 2024, 01:48:27 PM
Firstly the story that a coin in the future will surpass Bitcoin someday is actually a myth.
Bitcoin is the first and best crypto currency having the ability to act as both a P2P currency for transactions, and a suitable asset.
Not all governments of different countries have embraced Bitcoin probably because they are scared they can't control it because of its decentralized nature and obviously the decentralized nature of Bitcoin is something is part of what makes it special. However a majority if not all will adopt Bitcoin in the future.
520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There is nothing like it since the past 12 years on: January 27, 2024, 01:41:12 PM
Firstly I want to congratulate you on your achievements over the past 12 years. Anytime I come across Early adopters like you it make me wish I was an adopter too in the earliest time.
I must say you seem to be a very disciplined person from your write up because it takes a hell lot of discipline for someone to be able to hodl without a source of income. I bet if you didn't have some assistance from parents you may not have been able to. Because it seems very illogical to be hungry and claiming to hodl Bitcoin.
