EY is auctioning off 24,518 bitcoin, worth up to $A16 million, next month, in an Australian first.

EY transactions partner Adam Nikitins says undisclosed vendor has asked the company to sell the bitcoin, confiscated last year under proceeds of crime laws.

EY plans to sell the bitcoin in 12 lots via a 48-hour sealed bid auction between June 20 and 21 and expects to get more than $1 million for each lot.

Bidders will be able to submit bids on 11 lots of 2,000 bitcoin and one lot of approximately 2,518 bitcoin.

503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Amidst bitcoin boom, Russia plans its own cryptocurrency on: May 28, 2016, 04:10:52 PM
Russian media recently revealed plans to create a national cryptocurrency to be used alongside the ruble. The Federal Financial Monitoring Service's (Rosfinmonitoring), released the plan to TV stations and newspapers across the country.

Deputy Director of Rosfinmonitoring, Pavel Livadny, hopes that the new currency will be more convenient for Russians, and reduce the costs related to financial transactions. At the same time, there are plans to ban all other cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin.

Rosfinmonitoring mentioned that they have already begun talks with major stakeholders in the future cryptocurrency; The Finance Ministry and the Central Bank. In stark contrast to Bitcoin, the plan for the Russian cryptocurrency explicitly says that it will have a central issuer in control over the currency's supply.

505  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bank or Bitcoin Wallet? on: May 28, 2016, 09:14:40 AM
Most of us have both. Unfortunately we can't have only Bitcoin Wallet to serve all our needs nowadays. I know some people are having fun trying to live using a Bitcoin Wallet only and I also know that some of them succeed but if you have a family to care about that's impossible now.

at this momenth we need both of them, because we can't use bitcoin for each transaction, not all people know and use bitcoin.
now im use bitcoin as investment or payment processor if my relation accept it
506  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-05-28] Paper Points Up Flaws in Venture Fund Based on Virtual Money on: May 28, 2016, 09:10:37 AM
A group of computer scientists released a paper on Friday describing a number of security vulnerabilities in a novel cryptocurrency crowdfunding project that has raised more than $100 million.

The authors of the paper argue that the money that has been put into the project, known as the Decentralized Autonomous Organization, could be frozen or stolen by attackers as a result of flaws in the way that the venture, known as the D.A.O., was set up. The money is all in a digital currency called Ether, which is a newer alternative to Bitcoin and exists entirely online.

The threats emerged on the eve of the organization’s move from fund-raising to operational mode, in which it will evaluate proposals to fund experimental digital projects

510  Bitcoin / Press / [2016-05-28] Is a Blockchain a Blockchain if it Isn’t? on: May 28, 2016, 07:35:23 AM
Anyone who has heard of Bitcoin knows that it is built on a mechanism called The Blockchain. Most of us who follow the topic are also aware that Bitcoin and the blockchain were unveiled—together—in a whitepaper by a mysterious developer, under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto.

That was eight years ago. Bitcoin is still the granddaddy of all blockchain-based networks, and most of the others deal with alternate payment coins of one type or another. Since Bitcoin is king, the others are collectively referred to as ‘Altcoins’.

But the blockchain can power so much more than coins and payments. And so—as you might expect—investors are paying lots of attention to blockchain startups or blockchain integration into existing services. Not just for payments, but for everything under the sun.

Think of Bitcoin as a product and the blockchain as a clever network architecture that enables Bitcoin and a great many future products and institutions to do more things—or to do these things better, cheaper, more robust and more blockchain-01secure than products and institutions built upon legacy architectures.

515  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ Cloudmining 101 (ponzi risk assessment) ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁ on: May 28, 2016, 03:44:12 AM
-skip-

can you make the list of "real cloud mining" and now still running his service ?
because im not see any list of it.

i think it's can make some bitcoiner interesting to use it.
516  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it better to save money or invest it? on: May 28, 2016, 03:30:55 AM
I honestly think its better to save the bitcoin these days because it has a good future a head and the halving is also coming this year.
Its now better to invest with the future a head.

Saving money in bitcoin will take care of both the things, it will also save your money and it will also take care of your investment for the future.

Exactly and that can be the best investment for future if everything goes fine with bitcoin in coming months or years I am investing majority of my money in bitcoin at this stage.
Right now, we just need to trust bitcoins and it will providing us benefits in the future as it succeed. As you can see now it steadily increasing and expect a substantial increase after the halving. Buying bitcoins at current price now is already a savings and investment.

block halving make bitcoin more strong, the reduce of bitcoin reward will make miner get lower than now, and it's make the cost to produce bitcoin rising and sure the price will be rise too.

519  Economy / Economics / Re: I'm not gonna sell any coin. on: May 28, 2016, 02:22:14 AM
wait until its high to sell... um when is high???...

520  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: earn 0.5 btc on: May 28, 2016, 02:18:12 AM
you need necessary skills and knowledge to trade and invest.

Yeah that's right that is how you can 0.5 btc and that is the most possible way of earning it, because with faucets you can earn with that amount.
And also for signature campaign, it will take a long time for you earn that amount.
Learn to trade and invest have a good strategy and plan.

agree with you invest and trade give you more chance to earn 0,5BTC in 1week maybe in 1day too.
but you need capital to start it, i recomended use capital from bitcointalk sign campaign, or from faucet or from giveaway.
after you have good skill you can start with bigger capital.
