501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoins and making money on: August 14, 2017, 03:02:36 PM
Ok if i buy 100 dollars on bitcoin and in the next days the bitcoin price goes way way down, will i lose my bitcoin can i just leave the bitcoin there for a year and wait till it gets the highest price and sell it?

do you ever lose your bitcoin if they go to low or you can just leave them there forever till they go high o  price?

You don't understand how this works man. Okay for that 100$ you will get 0.02344 BTC at a current price. Now if BTC price drops you still still have that 0.02344. Let's say price is 3000$. You now have 70$. Let's say you wait 1 year and price of Bitcoin is 12,000$, you still have 0.02344 BTC but now it's worth 281$
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2017-08-14]If Not Bitcoin Cash, Could Bitcoin Kill Litecoin? on: August 14, 2017, 03:00:07 PM
Isn't Litecoin already dead ? I mean who use it other than people who mine it ? I never saw a shop or anyone online accepting litecoin payments
503  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Value on: August 14, 2017, 02:58:18 PM
Depends on what happens in november with segwit2x. If everything goes fine I expect 6000-7000$ at the end of the year. If not well fuck everyone hopes it won't get to that.
504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Question about claiming Bitcoincash on: August 14, 2017, 01:39:06 PM
i don't know how Jaxx works but if you have access to your private keys and if you really had any bitcoin balance in those keys before the 1st of August then yes you are the owner of same amount in bitcoin cash.

spending those bitcoins *after* August 1 doesn't change anything about how much BCH you own. it has replay protection which means your BCH won't be lost if you spend bitcoin or vice versa.

Thanks for the explanation as I am currently having the same issues as to claiming my BCH. But based on this explanation, it then means that even if I transfer my coin to a say blockchain.info wallet in other to empty the previous wallet by following the procedures posted by Theymos, am I still good to go or is there a threat whatsoever due to that since I will be importing my keys into Electron cash in other to claim the BCH.

If you send your btc to different wallet, and import private key into Electron Cash you are good. There is nothing that can happen to your BTC, if your private key gets leaked or smth like that only thing someone can steal is your BCH
505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Starting own mining farm? on: August 14, 2017, 12:26:35 PM

1. Do you just pay your electric bill as normal? obviously 10 miners = £££ per month in electric.

You will have to check that with company you are buying power from. In my country for example there are thee zones. Low, Medium and High consumption one, and each one have different power cost. If you try smth like that here you would end up in High consumption zone and you would buy at a greater rate.
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: i7 mining? on: August 14, 2017, 12:23:48 PM
It is hard to make profit with low ROI now. But if you do not want to let you mining rig's CPU idle. Then you can use it to mine some potential coins to keep, which you think the coin had future.

Any small coin you thinking about? I don't really know the CPU coins available.

You have to search it yourself. It's not like there is recommendation for coin. What your goal is to look trough some coins that can be mined with CPU, chose one that you think will have price increase in future and mine it, sell later for profit. Otherwise you won't be seeing much money.
507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New cryptocurrency vDinar needs miners to start on: August 14, 2017, 12:19:46 PM
No one forces anyone to spend their time or mining power. It's just one of the many opportunities to mine coins with non-professional equipment, even your usual CPU. In the full article you could have read that we're not providing changes to the algorithm, we will just spend our budget trying to slowly implement it in SerboCroatian speaking areas, where Bitcoin and other altcoins are still far away from being popular. You can follow the project or not, it's not like we're stopping you from mining popular coins. We have still no direct interest in this and we are doing it because of simple political ideas.

I understand what you are trying to say, but let me rephrase. You just copy pasted coin, changed name, and expect someone to mine because of political reasons ? If Bitcoin (the most popular crypto currency) is far from being popular why would some shitcoin be popular ? (That is the term for coins like your's)
508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After MultiBit what wallet should I use? on: August 13, 2017, 05:20:30 PM
I don't understand from your post if you are looking for bitcoin or bitcoin cash software ? Electrum is bitcoin wallet and Electron Cash is Bitcoin Cash wallet based on Electrum. So if you just want wallet for your btc download Electrum and add it to the list of exceptions on your antivirus, and if you want to claim your bitcoin cash yeah it's still not too late, for that use electron cash

I was wondering if there is a wallet that can hold both of it?

If you are looking for wallet like Electrum no. There are online wallets (or Exchanges) that let you hold both coins (if you have both coins now, they don't allow you to split coins at this moment, you have to do it manually)
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When to sell on: August 13, 2017, 05:00:00 PM
How do you decide when to sell? What tell you that the rise is over and there is about to be a drop? I keep selling too soon and while I'm not losing money, I could be doing way better. I'd appreciate any advice

There is no something that tells you when to do what. If there is wouldn't just everyone be rich ? If you hold specific coin you want to follow news, dev team etc... Price usually rise when something new comes up about the coin and someone invests. Also that is not the rule as anyone can invest at anytime and just increase the price. Price falls when investors sell, everyone this peak will be at different time, so price might be going up and then decrease 5-10% because of people that sell because they think it's the peak and repeat... To summarize no one knows what the price will be in future, and is the current price peak for some coin Smiley

vDinar does not bring any new algorythm improvements, yet it doesn't aim for an international use.

I don't understand why are you posting in the international section then ? If it's only for local use go post it in local section. I don't see the point in just copy/pasting litecoin code and renaming it to something else. Can you explain me why the fuck should anyone dedicate mining power towards this ?

512  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-08-11] HBO willing to pay hackers $250k bitcoin ransom on: August 13, 2017, 12:17:12 PM
This is straight bs. Why on earth would you (doesn't matter if you're an individual, or a multi million business) reward these pathethic beings for their illicit acts? This will further incentivize them to continue with what they are doing, because they know they get what they are looking for - money. Another thing is that when you end up paying, there is nothing that guarantees these hackers to literally remove everything they have afterwards. These people have no moral standards, and thus will have no problems spreading their information, or selling it to different parties. Accept your loss, and instead of rewarding a bunch of criminals, invest that money into proper security of the operating systems.

It's simple. I understand HBO. 250k $ is nothing to them and Game Of Thrones is currently the most popular show. Threy have proven that they really own the script and they leaked one episode. Also if hackers should decide to release ehat they got after payment, no company in future would ever pay them again.
Yes, it's easy for them to pay the hackers since they are the most watched series all over the world. But how about the reputation of bitcoin. This is a bad publicity for bitcoin. I've read also the hacked movie of Pirates of the Caribbean. This is very alarming since authories can't do anything to stop them. 150 countries being attacked by these hackers at the same time and no one get caught. And guess where to put their blame? Bitcoin

Yeah well you know who blames Bitcoin ? Pleple that don't even understand what Bitcoin is. I guess it's fine to say "HBO paid 250k cash to hackers" but it's not fine with btc because oh god btc is only used by criminals and it's pretty bad. I hate when people say smth like that. It just tells me a lot about their mindset.
513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US bitfinex users where are we headed on: August 12, 2017, 02:51:54 PM
Well as far as i know they required ID verification before in order to raise limits of your account. Idk what they require now but if it's smth like that VPN won't help you
514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Idea for alt-coin/asset - How to find developers / help? on: August 12, 2017, 02:27:45 PM
All you need is money. Don't expect anyone to work for percetage if profit or something like that. If you got money ready this forum (marketplace > services) is great place to find someone to help you
515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FILECOIN, biggest ico ever! on: August 12, 2017, 01:49:36 PM
It does look like it will have a huge price drop once it hits exchanges. The phrase "biggest ICO ever" just rings alarm bells with me these days.

Totally agree with you. Don't believe ICOs because you can use just your fingers to count the successful ones. Even after ICO ends this coin will probably be in development for years
516  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin mixing service on: August 12, 2017, 01:18:21 PM
Even is the Op doesn't want to steal your coins I doubt he has his own method of mixing the coins.
He most likely would use another mixer, collect an additional fee for himself and send the coins back.
The only and the biggest downside of this offer is that he might, or may not never return these bitcoins.
I can't in good conscience let you use this 'service'. Beware.
There is not really a method for mixig. All you need is a huge balance. But anyway doubt OP have that too. Be safe don't send your coins to untrusted sources.
517  Economy / Services / Re: Google Voice USA Phone Number for sell 1.5$ on: August 12, 2017, 01:15:24 PM
Hey, do you offer any warranty in case account number got revoked or something like that ? Also are you willing to give a vouch copy ?
518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I may have been dosed with malware on: August 12, 2017, 01:11:35 PM
Well since you don't know what kind of virus it is and antivirus is not finding anything there is no way to know for sure. What antivirus did you use ? If you want to be 100% sure reinstall system.
519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm trying to encourage more people to make nodes. What's missing? on: August 12, 2017, 12:54:36 PM
Well i think you answered your question in that post. Why would someone do that if there are no benefits ? You mentioned wallet sync etc, there is electrum wallet. Really there is no benefit for someone to allocate resources towards running node.
