501  Economy / Economics / Re: Lost Bitcoins on: September 13, 2012, 02:59:58 PM
Is it possible that sometime in the future there may be a way crack private keys of lost coins?

If you can crack lost coins and be profitable, then you'd also be able to crack anyone's coins.

"Ashley Shavers updated her cover photo.
Friday, September 7 at 8:40am"

Yep, looks like the two of them are probably on a beach somewhere outside the jurisdiction of the US...

There would be so much less demand for cash if you couldn't break the law with it. Value would absolutely crater.

The government still needs a way to pay for their off the books "contractors" too. If they weren't actually corrupt, they would have probably banned possession of over a certain amount of cash by now. After all, why do you need cash if you're a law abiding citizen?

"Trendon Shavers jailed for securities fraud" is probably the September announcement that Bitcoin *really* needs in order to bring stability to it.

Yeah, a real boom to the bitcoin community when uncle sam takes interest in it.

Don't get upset, you're talking to an agorist anarcho-capitalist here.

I'm just saying that once it's recognized as something of value in their legal system, it would bring in a lot more users...and thus stability. Whether you would use the government to go after him or not, knowing that you could legally go after a scammer like this is going to make people take it seriously.

Paper currency has serial numbers.  That data isn't collected so it is of little use currently

The other day, I had the thought that if I was the Federal Reserve, I would have high speed scanners and a computer system that tracked the movement of the money coming in and going out. We know that bills are checked for wear and damage before they're placed back into circulation. Completely feasible, and I wouldn't doubt if they were already doing it.

This leads to a new (?) name, Francisco Jimenez:

Suddenly, I remembered this quote:

"17:55 <@pirateat40> Trendon Shavers is a DBA, just to be fair.
17:57 <@pirateat40> I just use his name, he doesn't even speak english."

Lol, date?

508  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trendon Shavers - Family Contact made on: September 13, 2012, 06:28:40 AM
Even though we have his address, I think that we should drag as many family members into this as possible to make them all aware of the scale of this fraud in order to add as much social pressure as possible, as it doesn't cost anything.

Depends if they're looking for hush money.

They all looked like lawyers representing the plaintiff to me.
510  Economy / Services / Re: Would you invest in an illegal business on: September 13, 2012, 06:21:18 AM
are we all not investing in tax evasion using bitcoin?

I think technically it would only be tax evasion if you made a profit and turned those BTC into fiat.
511  Economy / Services / Re: Would you invest in an illegal business on: September 13, 2012, 05:38:22 AM
Poll conclusion: we should all be put in prison.

I've heard that the average American breaks three laws a day.
512  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trendon Shavers/Pirate ~ New Info on: September 13, 2012, 05:36:21 AM
So now the question is does Trendon have money to pay people at this point or has it been lost to Zeek?

I see a few possible situations as of today:

1) He's got a lawyer. And if he has any money, you're going to have to sue him to get it.
2) It had nothing to do with Zeek Rewards or any other Ponzi-pass through, and he's already absconded with everyone's funds months ago. The apartment is just a ruse with a VPN routing device connected through residential internet service.
3) He got caught by the Feds and has turned states evidence on his clients and investors.
513  Economy / Services / Re: Would you invest in an illegal business on: September 13, 2012, 05:29:21 AM
Legal businesses can never provide as high a profit margin as the black market, even if it's just as simple as evading taxation. So if you demand huge returns, it's the only way to go.

Whoops. It only takes one mistake...lol.

I'm glad you have the balls to release that information instead of giving the lame excuse of "privacy"

I value privacy.  My sharing of this was with much reluctance.

Don't let MNW hear you say that. He'll write a nasty magazine article about you.

"Bitcoins might not be so anonymous when you decide to run off with people's money"

Can't wait to read it.

I understand that it's a good thing that people aren't normally willing to share such info. Situations like this are an exception in my moral rulebook, though.

I am sure this is a current or recent address. This is Ashley Shavers's address on Whitepages, and is also an address listed under GPUMAX registration.

2305 S Custer Rd, Apt 1507
McKinney, TX 75070-6222

I shipped two orders of Casascius Coins to this address in January and February 2012.

Whoops. It only takes one mistake...lol.

I'm glad you have the balls to release that information instead of convincing yourself that "privacy" trumps justice.

“He named highway patrol cops by name. we have been exposing them all. we have been physically trying to wake the masses and start this party before they do. they start it, its game over from the start. he was armed, that is true. he was very fucking scared, and wasn’t leaving home without one. he was going to meet the troopers. there was no warrant, yet the news says there is, so meh. they called him there to meet and shoot him, and they did.”
519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lockhead Martin Job Posting - "Knowledge of ... Bitcoin" on: September 12, 2012, 05:55:45 AM
Lockheed is setting up a Silk Road for their heroin trade in Afghanistan.

lol, I wouldn't be suprised

I wouldn't be surprised if SR is run by a US government agency. 10% of every transaction adds up, and soon you own a majority of the BTC in existence (with a goal to keep those coins out of circulation). Easy way to kill it, if you're willing to wait for a slow death.
520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lockhead Martin Job Posting - "Knowledge of ... Bitcoin" on: September 12, 2012, 05:52:27 AM
They see bitcoin as possible terrorist money.

Possible? That's how they're planning to attack it. I'd even put BTC on that bet.

It's gonna be fun when they "find" a MtGox account linked to a Dwolla account linked to someone who knows someone affiliated with "Al Queda"...lol.
