501  Economy / Economics / Re: Is some certain lifestyle a waste of money and time ? on: April 08, 2023, 09:59:18 PM
Definitely yes. If you come to spend even above your means, that is clearly a waste of money and you will eventually go broke after days and weeks of overspending. And I believe your friends are actually doing it, it’s like there’s no tomorrow the moment they start drinking. My only advice is set a limit for yourself and never imitate what your friends are doing. Most especially if you have a family to feed, you should not be spending much on drinking but focus on the needs of your family.
502  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 07, 2023, 03:40:57 AM
And it looks like the Dallas Mavericks will win their game against the Kings. As they have a good lead now, and they are hitting their 3's and Christian Wood in a big help. Luka and Irving too has a nice game to boot.

However, the NOP are leading against the Grizzlies in a surprised twist of even. The Pelicans force a OT, and if I'm not mistaken, if they win this games, the Mavs are out of the playoff (correct me if I'm wrong).
Now they have 38 wins tied with OKC Thunder. They still have a chance to enter the play-in tournament if they can lock in all the games with a win.
They don't want a tiebreaker to happen because the record against OKC is 2-1 in favor of the Thunder. I just wish they always play this hard on both ends of the floor.

Ok, yeah they are tied with the OKC Thunder right now, but OKC has a game tonight against the Jazz and so far they are leading already and I might say that their chances to win are very high.

And if they win, the obviously, they could be in the better position against the Mavs, and even if they ended up with the same W/L column, as you have said OKC has the tie breaker because of the strength of 2-1 win they have against the Mavs.

They are not tied anymore as they won the game against the Jazz. They had a good second half and controlled the game, which is why they were able to win by double digits. Now, there is only one game left for OKC, and that is against Memphis, which they also need to win.

Dallas is still not out, though, because if they win their last two games and OKC loses to Memphis, Dallas will be in the play-in. So, we have to follow these two teams and see which one will succeed.
503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 07, 2023, 01:56:19 AM

For me, predicting the winner of the first game of this series is so hard because like I have said before that this is a 50-50 series and either team could become a champion so I'll just wait for the result and bet on game2 as the loser will surely adjust and have the high chance of winning game2.

That's right, it may be a good strategy to bet on the team that lost in game 1, and then double down if they still lose in game 2. For sure, no team in this series will have an advantage of 3-0. This series will likely be a close one in my opinion, and it could potentially go to game 7 as the crowd loves to support Ginebra, and maybe they will take the game in the Philippine Arena again.

Ginebra should always be in the finals, as only this team makes the business profitable. You can tell that people are not interested in watching the game without Ginebra. So, I would not be surprised if they also get some favor from the refs. The thing is, they are already a good team and at the same time still getting the favor, which is a sure win for this team.

And yes, it's a great strategy to do some double bets because in the PBA, anything is possible.

And since this is the finals, there will be no more sweeps. That's a guarantee
504  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 3) on: April 06, 2023, 11:26:13 AM
The thing with Casimero though is that we are not used to see such trash talking from a Filipino and maybe this what made him specially for us. Yeah, he can back it up, but if he wants to become a champion again, he need to win and knock Nghitumbwa out and again, send the message that he is going after whoever the champion is.
That's his style, and it's okay to see a boxer with that kind of trash-talking style. As you mentioned, he can back up his statements, which is one of the reasons why he is an exciting fighter to watch. Winning this fight shouldn't be difficult for Casimero, as his opponent is ranked low and not a well-known fighter. So, we can expect him to win. I'm more concerned about his future fights, especially his championship fight.
505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Terrence Crawford vs Errol Spence - June 17 on: April 06, 2023, 10:48:01 AM
Of the three votes in the poll, including mine, all of us picked Terrence Crawford. I guess most of us here favor Crawford to beat Spence because he is the more exciting fighter, and we believe that if the information about the fight is accurate, then Spence might suffer his first defeat.

Based on the previously listed odds, which are not confirmed but as I recall, Crawford was listed as the favorite to win.
506  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 06, 2023, 02:14:21 AM
So who do you guys think deserves the MVP for the year? I've been hearing a lot about Joel Embiid on sports outlets like ESPN and my local Chicago sports radio station.  I know that he's been right in the race with Jokic over the past couple years and there's been a lot made about how Embiid should have maybe won one of those.  I also saw Doc Rivers "aggressively" proclaiming that there's nothing left to discuss, Embiid is the clear cut MVP already.

Congrats to anyone who bet on this..it seems he's got it all but locked up.

I think Luka Doncic has had the most impressive season from an individual player standpoint. However, his team is fighting to make the playoffs now and they’re losing at the wrong time. That’s why everyone thinks it’s between Embiid and Joker. Embiid has missed more games this season than any MVP ever has, so if that is a major consideration then I think Joker will get it.

Nikola Jokic should get it. If it's value for the team then there's no doubt he is one of the valuable players in the league and the team. Joel Embiid too, but as you said, he missed a lot of game.
Next season, they will be applying the rule about how many games a player should be present and played to be able to receive an award, good thinking by the NBA to lessen those players that are not playing back to back games. Or, they could apply another rule on how many minutes a player should reach per season to establish a spot in one award.

The revised rules are excellent as they encourage players to participate in all available games if possible. Load management does not benefit anyone, particularly the fans who eagerly book tickets to see their favorite players, only to have them sit on the bench. With the new rules, load management should be eliminated.
507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 06, 2023, 01:06:27 AM

Gin kings have all the upper hands here. If they will really push personally, they can also sweep TNT, just saying.

That seems a bit harsh. I don't think it's likely that Ginebra will sweep TNT, as they are a competitive team with players like Jason Castro and a good import. Additionally, Mikey Williams is always capable of providing a spark for the team. It will be an exciting and competitive series for sure.
508  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Nghitumbwa (May 3) on: April 05, 2023, 11:46:13 AM
We might hear more about it after the fight against Nghitumbwa, else, if there's none to come out meaning to say that he might just use that route to promote his fight and to bring audience attentions.

All he needs to do for now is to win this fight via TKO or KO if he could because he hasn't been getting real good fights since he fought Guillermo Rigondeaux and he is delayed too much because of some disqualifications before the fight. Thankfully he got the win in his last fight after a review by the Korea Boxing Member Commission if not, then his career is not looking good at the moment. He needs this kind of exposure and does his thing again to catch the fans' attention and somehow will get his chance to be Inoue's next opponent.
If Casimero's opponent is prepared to withstand his power punches, we may see a KO victory. However, we should not underestimate his opponent, despite being relatively unknown. He has a high KO percentage, which is sure to present a tough challenge for Casimero. So if Casimero wins this fight, it will significantly boost his career as his ranking will improve. This would open up the possibility of a championship fight for him in the near future.
509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: April 05, 2023, 11:16:22 AM
The Warriors are looking formidable as the playoffs draw near. If they continue to win their upcoming games, they will secure a playoff spot in the top 6. Even without home court advantage in the first round, their road record shouldn't be an issue in a best-of-seven series, especially with Wiggins expected to play in the playoffs.

By the way, does anyone here believe that the Warriors will win back-to-back? I believe the championship odds now is currently at +1100
510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: April 04, 2023, 01:14:42 PM
Inoue is unlikely to move down to bantamweight again, creating a great opportunity for anyone to become a champion in this division.

Agreed, Inoue is unlikely to return to the bantamweight division as he has already dominated it and become an undisputed champion. With his exceptional boxing skills, he is more likely to achieve greater success in a higher division, where there is also more money to be made. Inoue is still pushing his limits and has a long career ahead of him. His focus should be on winning every fight and following in the footsteps of legends like Pacquiao, who has achieved both success and wealth through their boxing careers.
I don't know why the issue of him going down in weight in bantamweight has surface, even if he losses to Fulton, he should stick to super bantamweight as his body can't make it to 118 lbs and it will just cause him more problems in his health if he decided to go down again.

So I do agree that if he really wanted to become another legend like Manny, he should be moving up in weight and chasing those belts. However, personally, I don't see him moving further, maybe 126 lbs in the future, but that's going to be very hard unless his body will still continue to grow or he just add more pounds, but it's different if you can't bring you power to the new weight class that he is targeting.
It's premature to make a judgement on his capabilities just yet. Let him win first in the new division, and we will eventually see if he can move up without losing his power. We had doubts about Manny before, but he proved us wrong by not only carrying his power but also dominating bigger opponents, which led him to become the only 8th division champion.
511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: April 04, 2023, 01:37:47 AM
Is there anyone here who is interested in running a series betting? With plenty of time before game 1, it would be a good idea to start betting now. If you're interested in betting with me, I'm confident that the Ginebra Gin Kings will win this series. Although TNT is a good team, RHJ has been eager to play with Brownlee and believes they can beat the defending champions.
512  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Nonito Donaire vs Alejandro Santiago for WBC bantamweight title on: April 04, 2023, 01:11:52 AM
What's the purpose of that? In my opinion, that's not a smart idea. If Moloney really feels that he is a champion, he should be willing to fight anyone who wants to challenge him. He is younger than Donaire, so he may have an advantage. Besides, Donaire is not unbeatable as he suffered a bad defeat against Inoue in their last fight.

We need to wait for the outcome of this fight first, and if Donaire does become a champion again, maybe Moloney will change his mind.

It's not just Moloney I guess but there are other reasons why their camp backed out on that fight, maybe boxing politics again.

Besides, Moloney is not being challenged by Donaire but the fight was ordered being him the rank 1 and Donaire the rank 2 by the WBC.

Moving forward, if they will win their respective fights, they will possibly meet up in a unification fight.
Let's hope for a favorable outcome in both of their fights. Donaire is determined to prove himself to his fans and dominate against Moloney. If he wins a unification fight, it would be a significant achievement and could potentially make him an undisputed champion.

Inoue is unlikely to move down to bantamweight again, creating a great opportunity for anyone to become a champion in this division.
513  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie: If trading isn't working for you, buy and hold. on: April 03, 2023, 07:01:44 PM

Note: The end point is to making profit, so why not focus on the area  that could easily work out for you irrespective of the time it takes instead of following the crowd to a numerous lose end.

For some people the end is not just making profit but making large profits and holding alone doesn’t seems to quench there thirst for it. From your example someone that has actually bought $1K worth of bitcoin at 17k in January will have gain more than $600 profit now at current price of $28k, which is not a bad profit. But some traders actually gain, some gain at least 10% of that amount every week and that has worked for them.

Many people came into bitcoin with the narrative of getting rich quick and holding doesn’t guarantee that in a short period of time. Although holding is more secure but there’s nothing bad in trading if you have the fund to risk and also are ready to learn. But for others waiting for just signal from others without assurance of how accurate it could be then it is better to stick to holding
Well, you can actually make a good profit from buying and hodling, as long as you’re patient enough to hold for longer months and years. However, if you can also exert more effort to learn and develop skills in trading, then why not? After all, trading is way more profitable than hodling alone, and you can expect huge income if you are good at it. But as they always said, not everyone is capable to trade. Some are just good at the start, but they eventually end up quitting and just settle on hodling alone.
514  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk and the fall of Twitter on: April 03, 2023, 01:23:16 PM
Well said, my friend, you actually said my mind. Elon Musk thought it was business as usual thinking he can venture into anything and get it done better. Well, the Twitter purchase has put him on the wrong note, even the Tesla shares dropped so significantly. You see, if someone is touching almost everything and such things become successful, they see themselves as one demigod.

But not in all cases, social media is a different space entirely, especially when you are doing things that are anti-social media itself. He thought he can monetize everything better, but it boomerangs.
Sadly, not everything is done with money and business. Yes, Elon Musk has got everything when it comes to money and intelligence, but he is a big failure when it comes to humanity. Well, if he has been being selfless and compassionate in the first place, he would have succeeded his new owned business in the name of Twitter, but i guess his being anti-social media have made negative effect on the business and now its near to its downfall. I just hope that Elon Musk will still manage his other businesses to skyrocket again just like before he bought Twitter.
515  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Not about to give up hope. on: April 03, 2023, 11:37:22 AM
Definitely, if you encounter some setbacks from your crypto journey, quitting or giving up your hope is not the best remedy. In the first place, you should be aware that trading or investing is not all about winning streaks, expect that there are unforeseen setbacks that will eventually happen along the process. That is why never lost your hopes and stay having positive mindset. Remember that a winner never quits, and a quitter never wins. So if you fail, then rise up and move forward. Though the crypto journey might be uncertain, but with positive mentality, you will eventually unleash your potentials to succeed.

518  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Early Profit can be misleading. on: April 02, 2023, 08:54:43 PM
Should newbie traders be only concerned about making profit? I do not think so.

I feel that every newbie trader should first be concerned about fully understanding trading regardless of if they make profit or not at the beginning of their trading life. A newbie trader who enjoys profits mostly during his early life as a trader may be misled to begin to think that he has cracked the code to trading and will continue making profits. Newbie traders who experience some kind of losses at the early stage of their life but still continue in trading know better how trading can be, and because of the early experience that they have had, they are at a position of becoming much better traders than those that enjoyed easy profit at the beginning which can be misleading. What do you think, let us discuss?
It will only be misleading if he opt to believe that trading is all about wins and profits. But if he’s an open minded trader and he knows that trading has its fair share of losing and winning, then I don’t think he will be misled. At some point, a trader might start his trade a successful one and that is very possible since he might be preparing for long in trading. Or he can start with a loss knowing his experience is not enough. But whatever it is, I don’t think our first trading results will matter, because what should matter is how we can be more able to maximize our profits and lessen the risk of losing in trading.
519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What have you got rid of to accumulate Bitcoin on: April 02, 2023, 07:45:56 PM
As much as we might want to take part in the blessings of Bitcoin, we should take it gently and be sensible about it. You should not be so desperate to sell anything in your way simply because you want to buy Bitcoin. Landed property is an asset as well, I might only consider selling about 20% of it if I so much desire to invest more in the coin.

Thankfully, no need for that as I've been in the investment environment for many years before Bitcoin, so it has been calming me. And when I know about the coin, I just moved some money there without selling any property.

I've also been sending spare money regularly to own more of it, but under ease.
You should also know OP that there’s no late in bitcoin, so always take your time to prepare for your investment, but never be desperate enough to sell your property just because you firmly believe that bitcoin will triple your profits in the future. Yes, that could be your strategy too, but I should say it’s a very risky strategy, and you might lose them both in the future unknowingly the moment you’ll start taking wrong decisions in your investment.
520  Economy / Economics / Re: Should you save, when you are wealthy? on: April 01, 2023, 10:44:57 PM
Everyone who wants to create a fortune has a long way to go, first we need to learn how to earn, save and then learn how to make money work for us. Someone creates a business for this, someone is looking for investments, but the essence remains the same, we earn, save and increase our capital.

I'm wondering how long we'll need to do the savings? Who has already reached any significant level, are you still saving, or you can afford to live without any financial restrictions?

I have just started taking steps towards achieving my well-being and it is still very difficult for me to understand how I can achieve my goal and become a wealthy person. The thought that I will have to save for a long time now seems difficult, will it not tire me, will I be able to go this way. I already have some bitcoin and I like the feeling that I own something of value. When I manage to save some money, I buy again, but this is not permanent because I do not have a permanent job. Sometimes I want to buy new sneakers, and I decide to buy or postpone, sometimes I doubt if I'm doing the right thing, maybe I should provide myself with everything I need and save only what remains, if left.

Probably now I am thinking that I would not like to save all the time, I would like to reach the level at which I would be a wealthy person and I would not have to worry about money, but I have no idea when I can achieve this.
You will never achieve your goal and become wealthy without forcing yourself to save in the first place. You should know that even the wealthy men in the world are still going on a budget and are still saving at the end of the day. So how much more for a beginner like you when in fact you don't even have a permanent and stable job that can sustain your life. That's why as much as you can, learn to save. You can still buy what you want or need but never spend above your means, otherwise you will become broke in the end. And always save first before you spend, that is if you want to benefit in the future.
