ACOIN is currently a $44,000 marketcap coin... putting it pretty far down the list. However, it's hashrate is one of the highest around at #6. It's higher than ETH, LTC, DOGE, DASH, and many other reputable larger marketcap coins. Why would ACOIN have so much mining interest? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would imagine the miners know something that we don't. They wouldn't just waste money mining a coin that they can't sell at a good price right? If I had to make a bet, I think someone is expecting these coins to be way more valuable in the near future. Even if the coin got to just a $1,000,000 marketcap which is very small compared to the other coins with the same hashrate, you're looking at x20 your investment or more at the current price. Diamond in the rough? I think so. Let me know what you think about this coins situation. Here is a live list of the coins sorted by hashrate: http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency?sort=hashrate&dir=descCan't even find it on any exchanges, where's it at?

Time to stock up on Sia whenever it's weak. Keep in mind they do like zero marketing.
Why is that though? They need to get out there promoting it.

Do I sell now or do I ride out the weekend?

Yea true, my ideal scenario is BTC tanks and everyone enters into ETH, making me rich

The question is, how will it affect the price?
It will go up if the victim buys XBT to pay the ransom. It will go down later if the ransomers convert it to fiat. That's dead funny, I hope all your reserves dump! :-p

I didn't mean affecting the price now, I mean if authorities start putting pressure on crypto i.e. pushing for regulation on it so that they can get a tighter grip.

Just a thought.
The NHS in the United Kingdom has been brought to a standstill today after a ransomware attack decimated their networks. There are hundreds of thousands of sick people not getting emergency treatment during this frenzy and government cyber agencies are getting involved trying to fix and trace the attack.
Now we all know that this isn't anything to do with crypto, it's just some fucking idiots playing around with their low-end criminal lives and unfortunately their ransomware encryption virus has accidentally found itself on the network of one of Britain's largest state institutions. It's a dire situation and if they get caught they'll be fucked.
However, once it all blows over and gets fixed I reckon the authorities might start asking questions of how and why criminals can get access to payment-acceptance systems that are pretty much untraceable. This will put the spotlight on Bitcoin/crypto-currencies and their links to the underworld.
The question is, how will it affect the price?
|
|
|
Course people will care. Wait and see what will happen now. The British government will be seething about this, and about the fact that criminals on the web can demand untraceable funds. This isn't your standard small-to-medium sized business getting attacked, the NHS is arguably Britain's largest institution, there are hundreds of thousands of people not getting emergency treatment because of this standstill.
After it is all fixed watch how the authorities will start asking questions of BTC, the attention will cause the price to plummet!

Ok so when is the big ass pump?
What's the lottery number to win 100 million? We all want to know when will things happen, but we can't. We can guess what will happen, not when. So you don't lose anything by buying 0.1 BTC which may end up being as 1 BTC, or more if you want more risk/reward. Just hold it and we'll see. I know that. I was merely probing the OP.
