loot loot_x4 14577.78 15988.83 37 9/24/2017 8:49:29 PM <- Ryzen 1700x 1.0.4.0 64bit after 2 hours+ mining (take a look at the CPU load)

Just bumped the genproclimit to 32, now im getting 32-35% CPU load again (and probably 20-25k HPS2) just check the leaderboard in a few hours.

YES, I did some tests with lower genproclimits too, but the hashrate/shares/CPU load drops by 30-40% when using anything lower than 32.

Waiting for Oliwer's genproclimit 11 test on the 32bit wallet  Grin

EDIT: 30 minutes after switching back to genproclimit 32-> HPS1: 24189.32 HPS2: 29913.39
On 1.0.3.8 32bit genproclimit 11 i got HPS 20k and HPS2 17-18k cpu usage around 35-40%
Now testing 1.0.4.0 on genproclimit 11...

1.0.4.0 64bit with genproclimit 32 - HPS 24k and HPS2 25k-ish with CPU load 32-37%. My HPS2 drops to 15k with SMT disabled btw. Did you disable it?

Thanks for the testing.  So in a nutshell you are saying the Ryzen will only use 35% of the processor no matter what proclimit is set, and both the 32 bit and 64 bit builds are essentially the same.

Ok, that sounds like a different problem than I had on the windows xeon 2 proc.  The xeon on 64 bit only used 50% of the proc, but on 32 bit I got it to use 90% of the proc and on the pool it solves roughly what the linux equiv box solves.

Additionally, non use of resources is a different problem than was discussed after f7000 went live.  The problem we looked at before was the hash rate drop on the servers compared to the laptops and the shares solved per HPS- while assuming the whole processor was being utilized.  This is more of an issue where the processor is not being utilized.

I think I will have time to take a look at making a test miner that holds a reference to two KJV bibles.

In the mean time, the other thing that no one has reported is what happens when you run two copies of BBP against two different datadirectories on the Ryzen?  If anyone can test that out and report back that would be immensely helpful also.  I think inblue was going to try that on a server at one point.

5003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay - New Coin Launch - Official Thread on: September 25, 2017, 02:50:41 AM
I've got plenty of BBP on the Testnet.  I'll start working on a few things in the next couple days.  One issue to consider on new is copyright.  So for now, I would suggest self contained help articles and the like should be the goal, with a bit of time to determine what exactly "fair use" can be held.  Also, since the block chain is immutable, some sort of vetting will be critical.

Sorry to be so quiet the last few days, been a rough week here.

Yeah, go ahead and find out how copyright will work, Im sure there must be a way to legally create news articles that are picked up by multiple stations.  For one we would encourage paraphrasing and original non copyrighted images.

As far as immutable, we will eventually have upvote/downvote, and we charge a fee for publishing.  If it ever becomes a problem we could potentially make an escrow requirement, and "spend" the escrow if someone posts something very negative (like walls of swear words as an article).

Hi dev and comunity, reading about this upvote/downvote feature got me thinking about the letter writing to orphans. Maybe we should prioritize integrating the process of letter writing and approving in the wallet itself? Currently it is only being done in the pool, and I think that people just never go to that section and are not even aware of this feature.
I am new to the project, so I haven't went through the code, but maybe writing letters could be implemented as a special kind of "news article" that will also go in the block chain and be voted on in the wallet itself (and then automatically sent if approved).

Even thou i like the new news article feature, frankly I think that we are kind of behind with the letter writing to the orphans we sponsor and we should probably think about how to make it easier for an average user to do it. Here, I am just giving and idea how we may reuse this new feature for this purpose. After all we are a charitable community in the first place.

All the best to fellow biblers.

Thanks for the ideas!  But the letters to the orphans dont belong in the chain, as they are temporary and potentially private in the future, and changing in format after sanctuaries go live, and require specific API integration to deliver, and require dynamic booleans depending on when they are sent to compassion, etc.

However the news is permanent and useful to be part of the chain.

(In addition, it takes hundreds of hours to code a feature in the QT wallet, as compared to tens of hours on the web site, so we have to architect each IT solution with respect to how many resources will be consumed vs the ROI).

Is the database on pool2 overwriting pool?

I mined some thousands on pool (created two workers id) and then created an account on pool2. same user (used another mail to pass registration mail error), new ids on pool2 were ok but ids created on pool failed with no error. Pool showed balance correctly and stats for two workers.

Currently I can only see the worker id created on pool2 on both pools, balance=0 on both pools. In leader board I can see the workers created initially on pool but not in stats or elsewhere. If I try to recreate the ids from pool I get no error and only ids created on pool2 listed.

Two account with same name but different data syncing badly?

The both of the web pools actually share the same database server; so you are technically not allowed to create a user on pool2 with the same username.

Just go ahead and use it, and tell me if you see anyting wrong with your HPS2.

Everything has been fine for a solid week now, looking good.

Alright so block chain news is being released now in its infancy in testnet
,  to test, please head over to this Testnet forum:

http://forum.biblepay.org/index.php?topic=14.msg83#msg83

Note that in the description there is also a wiki page I created that attempts to explain the feature.

That's pretty impressive!  The page is well written.  I would suggest that for an easy start, we use a few of the major documents (like Win and Linux install and the Whitepaper) as tests.  One question, are the articles editable?
Yeah, its kind of funny you mention that, as if we for example were to take one of Togos guides, like how to mine biblepay on linux for example, and make it a news article, then we end up with a TXID pointer with the capability to view the article from the wallet.  That means we inadvertently created a cool feature- like a built in Help Guide, or Wiki Reader.  We could actually make a table of contents in the wallet very easily and point to some of those Help Guides.  That would help users get started and give us more VAR.  Good idea.

As far as editing, here is the thing, while you are in the process of creating an article, you can edit and preview as many times as you want.  When you publish an article it becomes a Permanet part of the blockchain after you pay the fee.  So no there is no Edit capability yet.  However, if you are referring to the ability to make something better that is already published, we definitely can make an Edit option that basically sends a "D"elete command into the chain for a prior version, and an "A"dd.  Then we make the news weblist respect deleted or edited articles.  So yes, that sounds like a valuable thing also.  I could see a person wanting the ability to Improve someone elses guide for example.  Or, when static things change, say we are using Slimepay for example for our debit cards and we find the owner was arrested and we decide to go to another company, then we could actally edit the provider name in the guide.  Its nice because the fees go to help orphans- they go to the orphan foundation.

Guys, feel free to go to the other forum so we can start testing now.  I will be installing the "mod" soon that alows you to receive email updates when new posts are posted.

He is minning like this for about 2 weeks... he know what he is wiriting. He even post his results earlier...

Sorry but if you want to 'blabber' things you will be ignored.

Try to compliment the community in a positive way, and offer to volunteer for things in the future, otherwise you are probably in the wrong place.

Thanks for the explanation. So it basically favor mid side cpu? I will reduce the thread to see what will happen.

Only the shares count for the earning, am I right?

Also can I use one worker for two computers in the pool?
Yes, ironically we had a rocky start where the Ryzens and the Xeons were killing the small procs, and unintentionally, the mid-level CPUs seem to be winning now.  You can now point multiple CPUs to one workerID and the HashPerSec2 will reflect both.  Its probably better to start out keeping all workerids separate so you can see what you hashpersec2 reading starts out as.

10 year old 4cores better than a new 8core ryzen  Roll Eyes
I doubt it, ensure you were mining on both for a few hours and then post the HPS2 here from both test subjects.

The miner died again, This is the line emitted when it died with debug=true, nothing extra from the previous error.
Code:
*** Error in `./biblepayd': double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x00007fde0c000f60 ***

Thanks, I have an idea of one thing we can try.

So, blockchain news is almost ready to test in testnet, but its being held up by one issue with the QT HTML TextEdit feature:  we had to add a lot of code into biblepay-qt to support HTML images and ULs.  Ill have to release the QT5.0 Rich Text Edit manual to allow people to see the HTML markup supported - quite a wide array of markup is supported for the creation of a blockchain news article.

It will take some getting used to but will be relatively easy to create an article after you create one.  It would be nice to add rewards for articles in the future but for now we will most likely have it include your BBP receiving address so you can receive donations when people like the article.  Upvoting/downvoting and a list of articles will eventually come also, but for the first phase we will just have : Create an article, Preview an article, Publish the article into the chain, See an RPC list of articles in the chain, and View an article based on a TXID.  (What is missing is a GUI list of the articles, the upvote/downvote, and some type of reward mechanism).

Also this error pops up occasionally and the daemon shuts down during mining.

Code:
*** Error in `./biblepayd': double free or corruption (f
asttop): 0x00007f2e14000b50 ***

Does this only affect one mining thread or does it kill all the threads?  What OS, and biblepay version and bitness is it?

It kills all the threads. Linux 14.04, Biblepay version: 1.0.3.9c
Thanks, how many threads are you running?  Could you please set "debug=true" in the config, and see if it emits and more lines around the time it dies also?  And finally, I would suspect this started earlier after f7000 was released, do you have a guess as to what version this started dying for you?

Thanks.

PS If anyone is mining on linux and wants to help out could you run valgrind on the process for us?  In the mean time Ill still work on it with Nana.

One thing I've never completely understood is how sanctuaries will be implemented. When they are established, how exactly will selections be made on which nodes become Sanctuaries? Is it a matter of putting in a stake?

Yeah, like Togo shows, when you invest in a sanctuary, its sort of like renting a seat at the stock exchange.  As long as you hold the seat you receive the privilege of voting on governance issues and receiving a monthly reward (approx 10% of the cost of the seat comes back to you in revenue per month, roughly, depending on how many sanctuaries exist).  The escrow amount is still in the air, West is doing some simulations on that.  Its probably between 600,000 and 1 million BBP of escrow.  The escrow provides a useful service - to allow us to offer instantsend - that means coins can be sent from point a to point b instantly.
5016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay - New Coin Launch - Official Thread on: September 21, 2017, 10:23:56 PM
Awesome!

Im very new to all this cryptocurrency stuff, like 1-2 month new

I really like that this coin has a good cause
I also like that there is a high amount of coins over a long span of time, makes it a lot more fair to give everyone a chance to jump in.
And the governance/budget model from Dash is AWESOME.
You have also been very active Rob! (look forward to a Slack team building up)

====

But yeah I worry about the average person.
I think setting up a miner is a little too technical for most (having to deal with a config file / console commands).
and trading for BBP has too many steps and can be scary, also the average person is probably going to be very intimidated by limit orders.

But yeah Cryptocurrency in general has the issue of not being user friendly for the average person.

====

Currently I update the BiblePay reddit and twitter

https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/
https://twitter.com/BiblePay

And I wrote the mining guides for Windows and Linux
https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/comments/6umlqq/how_to_mine_biblepay_on_windows/  (1,600+ Views!)
https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/comments/6ummuj/how_to_mine_biblepay_on_linux/ (600+ Views!)
(I think I should probably put them on the wiki so everyone can edit and make them better)

====

I guess I could help out the Wiki now:  http://wiki.biblepay.org

I was also thinking of writing a guide on how to buy BiblePay coins

I haven't figured out how to market to non-crypto people, Ill keep thinking about it.
One of my friends has been marketing some on christian facebook groups.

Right now Ive been marketing BBP every now and then in cryptocurrency subreddits.
I want to spread the word so everyone has a chance to be part of this!

All in all, its cool that by owning coins, Im like a small part owner and Im motivated to see the value of those coins rise Smiley
I look forward to the future of BiblePay!

Hey, thanks a lot for helping with the Wiki page.  We are all grateful to have you here.

Well I think I can help out on those two concerns (Starting the miner and buy BBP).

I can add a feature that allows one click mining from the menu, that does a quick processor baseline test, auto adds the config info into biblepay.conf, saves the config and starts the miner, and allows autostart it on next start.

On buying BBP, I believe Yuri had explained (at one time) that you can buy USD on c-cex with a debit/credit card, and since a market exists that is very liquid for BTC/USD, you can technically buy into BTC in a fractional amount and then buy BBP.  Thats a pretty low bar if it works, although myself being in the US, and having a coinbase account I have never tried it.  Does anyone want to jump in and volunteer and tell us if you can do it, and if there is any limitation for a country like the US for example?

Thanks!

5017  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay - New Coin Launch - Official Thread on: September 21, 2017, 09:22:43 PM
@bible_pay youve been doing awesome work!

I was thinking about the average person yesterday,
I think we need an easy way to exchange fiat for BBP like Coinbase, not sure how easy or possible it is.

Right now to get BBP a user would have to create account on Coinbase, transfer money in, buy Bitcoin with market order,
Then set up account on C-CEX, transfer Bitcoin, then do limit order to buy BBP.
You too, and thanks again for the guides.  Hopefully we can get more volunteers like you soon to modify the main embarassing wiki page (wiki.biblepay.org) so we have a more professional presence.

Yeah, I hate to be pessimistic, but that usually takes a year.  The good news is I think we can do it.  I think in our case, we release Sanctuaries at Christmas, then go live with exchange #2 (hopefully bittrex or poloniex) next January, and next March while we start a PR campaign, we can then get to this idea.  I have a list of the top 5 crypto-debit card provider interfaces from another project I am sort of loosely part of.  These are real debit cards, like shakepay and bitwala.  I think once our market depth is more than 3BTC per day, then we can talk about integration.  Otherwise, its just a big joke to think we can ask someone like shakepay to integrate with us.  But I think we can get there once we have exchange #2 and people see price appreciation due to the shrinking coinbase involved with the sanctuaries.

5018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay - New Coin Launch - Official Thread on: September 21, 2017, 03:12:54 PM
So all, I am glad to see the pool is stable over the last 2 days.  It looks like splitting the load worked (knock on wood).

I just wanted to say Ive been busy in the background working on blockchain news.  So far we have the ability to create a news article from the RPC in testnet, but, the feature is still being worked from the GUI perspective.

Yesterday I did some analysis on the shares solved from two similar machines; one on linux one on windows, and although windows has an average HPS less than linux, it does appear windows solves more shares per reported hash.  Doing an in-depth test, I don't see any errors in the HPS counter however.  So that project is still ongoing.

Hi everyone,

Why my Hashes Per Second 45k but Hashes Per Second2 only 4.6k?

HPS2 takes time to build up.  Its based on how many shares your machine can solve in the current round.

was excited to review altcoin. interesting concept and noble goals... but technical execution, specifically pool seems dismal. good luck on your endeavor...
Hi Sunk,

What exactly are you concerned with technically regarding 'execution' and 'pool'?  From an unbiased perspective, the pool seems to be one magnitude ahead of every pool in existence (have you ever seen a pool with Orphan letter writing ability and document attachments and bounties)?  The wallet has advanced features that some of the top 50 wallets dont have also.

Is it possible you guessed?
