This thread is very helpful.  Also I am willing to securely store peoples bitcoins for a small fee so they don't have to worry about wallet security.

I lol'ed.
5025  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOW TO CREATE A BITCOIN EXCHANGER? on: July 11, 2012, 01:23:11 PM
Most exchange sites have their own proprietary code so there's no source code except from the bitcoind interfacing stuff. Which system are you good at? Ruby on Rails or?
5026  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Odd figures, results and shares on: July 11, 2012, 12:37:51 PM
OK, I'm brand new to the idea of bitcoin, but I understand roughly how it works. I do however, have a slight problem with GUIMiner.
(I will move this topic as soon as the restrictions are removed)

When I utilise my GPU, (ATI Radeon 4800) I get an average of about 820 mhash/s, but I have 15 shares after running it overnight. The results appear fairly decent on bitcoin.cz, I have no problem.
However, when I tried my CPU (Intel Celeron E1200 @ 1.6 Ghz (don't laugh I know it's shit)) I get the same average, but no shares, no profit, nada, nothing. Affinity is to both cores, ran overnight, on a seperate account, as per. Is that something I should worry about? I have three more PC's that are waiting for miner installation and long-term mining sessions, all with the same specs, but it's not going to be worth it if I make 1 BC a day.

System:
Win7 Ultimate
3 GB Ram
Celeron e1200 @ 1.6ghz
ATI Radeon 4800 PCI
FoxConn 45CMX-K

My CPU Revision oddly appears as 15.15 when all the other models I've seen are named 15.13, I think I have a line test model or something like that, otherwise, It's a pretty decent, but standard PC.

Connection:
Latency: 73<>190 ms
Bandwidth: 3.1<>7.2 mbps (mobile broadband)
Between modem + PC: 12.9Mbps (ave)

For starters, there is no card like 'ATI Radeon 4800'. You're either using one of them:
Code:
Radeon™ HD 4830
Radeon™ HD 4850
Radeon™ HD 4870
Radeon™ HD 4890

And next, no 4 series card would do remotely 200 mh/s , yet alone 820 mh/s. The 15 shares being accepted is speaking things, a 800 mh/s rig would do 15 shares in approximately 20 seconds. Read: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison for the speeds you're going to expect.

Even if you're running core i7 extreme edition, you'll only do like 8-10 mh/s and rack up the electricity bill without a significant amount of bitcoins generated. No CPU is good for bitcoin mining anymore.
5027  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not Mining? How Come? on: July 11, 2012, 07:59:47 AM
"lmao a penny a week"

Isint the bitcoins distributed in a pool?
Yes of sorts, but you're going to get minimum/no shares at all with an integrated card. Get one of ATI's cards.

In my case, the address in my siggy also reinforces my identity through here and bitcoin-otc as I've registered it as my address there too. On the situation that someone is not sure I am who I claim during a bitcoin trade, I can tell the person to just send the coins to my siggy address.
Not to mention the tips I get anonymously sometimes.  Wink

5031  Economy / Lending / Re: Seeking $4000 USD Loan on: July 11, 2012, 02:59:03 AM
Hey all,

I'm in a bad (keeping in mind everything is relative) situation. I need/want a car. This one, preferably.

Most of my money is in BTC, which I think is only going to rise from here out, so taking out a BTC loan then converting to fiat would be a foolish and destructive move.

I have the BTC funds to cover this loan at the current exchange rate, so assuming the BTC price goes up there is absolutely no way for me to be unable to repay the loan. I also have some BTC income (Mining operations and trading), and an awesome job. (awesome != high paying, necessarily)

I have a good deal of rep here, so I figured I'd ask before going elsewhere. I'd really appreciate if someone could simply lend me the money, but that probably won't happen, so I'd be looking for something like a 3% APR.

I don't plan on keeping this for more than a year, but if BTC just keeps rising, it might be in my best interest to.

Thanks,
Garrett
Getting your first car? Gee, I wish I've started driving with one of those great beasts.  Cheesy
Getting back on topic, you'll need to find Patrick or someone that's willing to deal with a USD loan and is in the States. Wiring the money to you would easily eat through the 3% APR. (that's why I love Bitcoin)
5032  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Minimum CPU requirements for dual 5870 on: July 11, 2012, 02:53:37 AM
I have been mining a single 5870, and now I have decided to go dual 5870s.

I have a certified crossfire 750 watt power supply
Motherboard with 2 PCI Express x16 slots

I expected to get 2x the performance 325 Mhash/s x 2 = 750 Mhash/s ( aprox )

But it turns out my rate was only 425 Mhash/s. Load was running around 5, so I am assuming my CPU is too slow to push both cards to the expected rate of 750 Mhash/s.

What is the minimum cpu required to get 750 Mhash/s from dual 5870 using crossfire ?

What's your miner? CGminer or GUIMiner? The CPU is kind of out the equation here, as I've successfully run 5970's with a paltry AMD Sempron single core.

Hey Al. He said you had to be a full member in the original post so no newbies or junior members.

Well, Al's address points to a well known member here - so it would be safe to state that it's him.  Wink

On topic, I would like to play too but I'm too far away from my wallet now.  Undecided
(I remember one snowball game in the gambling subsection that functioned like this, but it ended pretty fast  Wink)

I was confused for a second until I realized you were probably speaking about the IP address and not the Bitcoin address, albeit that's the only one I've ever used for all my purchases that required Bitcoin.

~Al the Alpaca~ (almost got four hours in on this forum--does that count?)
I meant the Bitcoin address.  Wink

Hello, I am some what new to this.

I need a list of items I need to get a Rig up and running. I know the rig is not going to be cheap , but that is life right?

If anyone can provide a list of components.

Yes, I know I need a computer that will have a PSU, Processor and RAM, Fans and all that... but  I want to Mine Coins with X6500 Custom FPGA Miner and I don't really know how to use it. HELP ME!
First, state your budget. Then take a look at here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison
The computer itself doesn't need to be high powered at all, you just need a lot of PCIE ports if you want to run a GPU rig, and a shitty CPU will do. RAM and etc is out from the equation. A powerful PSU is needed, though.
If you want to run a FPGA /ASIC rig, the only thing you need to consider is the FPGA/ASIC itself. Just hook it up to a spare USB at a computer will do.
