What is your forum name? Did you make any posts outside of your local section? I'm guessing this was the problem but if you post your name others can weigh in but it's usually quite apparent why the ban was justified.

Proxybanned. It's still banned until you pay the fee (or get whitelisted).
5044  Other / Meta / Re: Would you like to see ChangeTip working here and in forums generally? on: March 11, 2015, 07:21:20 PM
I'm sure it can. Someone above mentioned getting it in a PM, though maybe a small/unobtrusive little note under the post would be best.
5045  Other / Meta / Re: cannot ad me avater picture on: March 11, 2015, 07:19:14 PM
Replying to questions in Meta that have already been answered directly above is a quick way to get your account a temp ban. Also, op is just a troll.
5046  Other / Meta / Re: Proxy and a new account on: March 11, 2015, 07:17:28 PM
OP doesn't even need a proxy if he wants to make constructive posts with an account he bought, as having 2 accounts is not against forum rules. (Unless you have an account banned on your IP, then this is considered ban evasion.)

Maybe he doesn't want them associated with each other.

signing up via tor will get your account banned so you will have to pay a fee to get it unlocked.

Signing up via tor won't get your account banned.

It will. Try it and find out.
5047  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: March 11, 2015, 07:14:38 PM
No. He's talking about something else. You can get 14 activity ponts max per period and it doesn't matter when or how fast you make them. You only have to make one post in the period and you can collect the rest of the 13 points later or straight away.

So when will I reach next status hilariousandco

On the 31st providing you post in the next period which starts on the 17th and then again on the 31st. You'll then be a Member.

That reduction is real. That newbie account who posted it in this thread earlier is probably Marko indeed. Look at this guys:

I doubt he's going to evade his ban this way when he's not got long left till it expires. He probably just gave that info out on irc or wherever else he's communicating info to people.

I think tonight's games will be a great watch but shame I can only pick one so it's going to have to be Cheslea. I'm backing them at 2-1 but I think it'll be close and could see another draw.
5050  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Research into opinions on Bitcoin on: March 11, 2015, 04:06:53 PM
Hi everybody -

I'm a new user on this Board and I'm looking for people's opinions on using Bitcoin. Are you a user? Or just an enthusiast? Hoping to complete a study on the topic and look for people's opinions (whether or not they are Bitcoin users currently) on the matter.

Well seeing as you're on a bitcoin forum I'm guessing the answer to both those questions is going to be both yes.
5051  Other / New forum software / Re: Signature changes on: March 11, 2015, 04:05:19 PM
I do see what you're getting at in that less pay=more spam as people try to make up for it, but more spam would just make them easier to catch. As it is, the signature campaigns just get the most garish ads they can find, throw money at it, and ignore spammers because they know people don't really have a choice. If people have the ability to turn off the ads, then they would have to work smarter. Have ads that are pleasing and not too distracting, have good posters in their campaign, and to not go overboard with how many users you have with it, and have a good rapport with the users of the forum (if you see the same ad 20x in a row on the same page you are much more likely to block it, especially if it's loud and annoying).

Have you thought about signature advert designs having to be approved by the admin's first? Maybe too colourful/garish ones are not allowed? Personally I don't mind most of them and think they look ok except maybe the multicoloured rainbow ones that are obviously designed to just be eye-catching but I think a well-designed/professional-looking one is actually more effective than those.
5052  Other / Meta / Re: Proxy and a new account on: March 11, 2015, 03:59:32 PM
if you don't spam useless posts, and don't reiterate posts, you are fine

also many new account are registering with tor...

But that's not really what he's asking. In fact, this isn't what he wants because signing up via tor will get your account banned so you will have to pay a fee to get it unlocked. Op, you won't get your account banned for using a proxy unless you sign up on one and that particular connection has already been blacklisted (but purchasing one and using a proxy will be fine). Also, the account you purchase could have previous bans attached to it though and that could increase the likelihood of you getting banned if you make poor quality posts so take that into consideration.
5053  Other / Meta / Re: Bought an account , and received a negative reputation a month later on: March 02, 2015, 10:14:38 PM
Ume was banned for shitposting. The recent thread by dumbum asking about a ban for unsubstantial posts + sig ad is him.
5054  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Payment Portal? on: March 02, 2015, 10:07:58 PM
Cryptothrift is an eBay-like market if that's of interest.
5055  Other / Meta / Re: Bought an account , and received a negative reputation a month later on: March 02, 2015, 09:12:19 PM
Ume was banned earlier for a couple of weeks. So is he an alt of tacoman71?
5056  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are there any people making a living on Bitcointalk? on: March 02, 2015, 09:07:15 PM
I forgot about paid trolls, though they're kind of a conspiracy theory around here. I haven't seen any concrete evidence of them being paid but I don't doubt it hasn't gone on before. I don't imagine they get paid much though and most trolls are just doing what trolls do and trolling for free or for other business interests they have.
5057  Economy / Marketplace / Re: How are altcoins collateral on: March 02, 2015, 08:50:56 PM
Most people won't give loans out to people who are suspected of going to gamble with it and quite rightly as you're almost certain to lose it, though I don't doubt some people take loans out under a different story and then gamble with it anyway.
5058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Let Anyone Tell You Satoshi's Identity is NOT Important on: February 15, 2015, 10:11:48 AM
I would guess that in the event that satoshi were to return that theymos would probably not reset his password via email but would unlock his account and change the password to one of his choice

satoshi is a special case anyway, but I'm sure he likely still knows his password so would just have to prove it's his account in the first place by signing an address to get it unlocked.
5059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Poll: How often do you check the price of bitcoin. Please VOTE on: February 15, 2015, 10:06:19 AM
I think everyone gradually tapers off how often they check the price after they've been here a while.

With me it's quiet the opposite Smiley
It only gets worse.

Do you actively trade? Maybe that's why. I find with long-term hodlers they usually don't care that much about the daily price.
5060  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-02-13] CD: Bitcoin Payments Still Power 5% of Porn.com Sales on: February 15, 2015, 09:29:33 AM
You could make that argument about tv/films and music though. You can easily just get them for free as well, but I agree it does seem silly paying for porn, but maybe you have to pay for some specific niche stuff (though not sure porn.com caters to that).
