What a comeback by England, I thought they will lose the match earlier. Root and Denly put a significant effort and seems like they will win the match at the end.
If England wins, it will be 10th highest successful chase in test cricket history. Despite being worse situation of the pictch, it has now turned into flexible for them. Would be better if England wins, otherwise, Ashes will not be that much interested.

Ashwin's Record in SENA countries ( South Aftrica, England, New Zealand, Australia)
Wasn't aware of SENA  It's very much understable, very few spin bowlers can have outstanding performance in SENA countries. 300+ is not a good score especially when opposition have 2-3 days in hand.
Generally it's not a big score, England must have chased it easily. But considering the fact that pitch isn't helping the batsman at all, and within 4th day, pitch will be more worse, 300 is still a handy score. Australia will easily win with that. There's 31 successful chase (300 and above) in the history of test cricket. For England, it will not be easy to win. |

I don't know if it works because i'm not allowed to change my signature but on bbcode viewer looks ok and its only 710 characters.

If we honestly look at Ashwin's red ball career then he's a champion bowler in subcontinent but average in SENA countries. Having said that I was surprised too when I looked at today's playing XI, considering the fact that his record is very good in west Indies and if I am not wrong then he was the man of the series in his last tour.
Ashwin got 77 wickets from 893 overs against Australia while 60 wickets from 436 overs against West Indies. These are top 2 of his career in test. This shows how much successful he is against WI. Sunil Gavaskar as well talked about this issue of exclusion of Ashwin, even Sehwag criticized the decision. In the last series against WI, he got 9 wickets. In India, Ashwin got 234 wickets with an average of 22.69, in away matches, he got 108 wickets with an average of 31.40, he was successful in both home and away. I don't think his red ball career is in danger. He will be picked on the upcoming series certainly. Edit- Rahane is showing his class, he is one of the best batsman for team India after Pujara. Anyway, 5th gone now. Pant and Rahane is fighting, hopefully the score will be more or close to 300. I have a feeling that India is one bowler short in this match. Don't know if 4 bowlers can take 20 wickets or may be kohli will use hanuma vihari as a 5th bowler.
4 regular bowlers? This is really strange. I didn't notice, however Bihari will be the 5th but this is really a poor selection, why not a regular bowler. |

I trust Jadeja in case Rahul or Pant fail and even Ashwin can bat well but more I trust Jadeja as he can make quick runs which are needed currently. They need atleast a 150 partnership if they want to score 200+ runs.
Rahul is doing good job, seems to have a longer innings today. Unless this partnership go longer, the hope for big score is nearly zero. Jadeja can have some faster score but that will not be longer. Jadeja, with batting, is more suitable for one day and t20, for test, I don't think he is a good batsman. |

Just checked the score and already they are three wickets down? Virat also gone for 9, Pujara 2, Agarwal 9...Now only hope is Pant and Jadeja. Looks like the first innings will end for 150 runs or less today and we may see WI chasing them down too. WI did good choosing to field first.
Pant and Jadeja? If Rahane and KL Rahul got out, rest of the player will not be able to get 100 nore run to the score unless miracle happen. I don't know much about Hanuma Biahri though. |

England have won the toss and elected to bowl first which is an interesting decision. There is a rain delay which was forecast for the morning session which is most likely why Root decided to bowl first however if Australia can get through the first few hours it could become a good batting pitch as it looked a little dry and good to bat on.
This was clearly a great decision so far since Archer got Harris out very quickly and this does not bode well for Australia at the moment. Warner is taking his time, but the pressure will continue mounting on him if he doesn't begin accelerating. This was expected, I'm expecting an early collapse of Australian batsman in the first innings. Both rain and their batsman's performance are saying so. Warner and Khawaja must be played a long partnership to get a big. |

Australia will be depending a lot on their bowlers if the batsman can't score big totals for England to chase.
That will be the worst of all. Australian bowling line up isn't that much of strong if you consider both the team. England has some great bowlers in the current team. Without Smith and Warner getting off form, I can see a big lose for Australia. |

Without him Australia was poor even in last year, after his ban, in 2018, Australia won only one test in 2018, it was against India. In addition, 2018 was the worst year for Australia in test format in the last decade, probably in the last 2/3 decades. It's pretty clear how poor Australia team is without him. |
