5101  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: January 11, 2021, 12:18:50 PM
There's nothing wrong with that, Ibaka is paid well, so he needs to have good minutes and he is already a veteran therefore a coach would choose him than any other player with the same position. Zubac is good but he needs to improve, look at the line up of the Clippers, they all look veterans and that's the reason why they are winning.
I don't think that size of Ibaka contract have to do anything with the amount of time he is playing. After all, Ibaka has only 2y/19 million contract so its not like he is on supermax. Ibaka being starter has to do with the the fact that he is pretty solid at 3 pts shooting so he is able to stretch the floor and give more room to Kawhi and Paul George. At least that's how I understand this decision but as a fan of Zubac I don't have to like it Cheesy.

If you'll look into his statistics here https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/z/zubaciv01.html

You'll see that there's not much improvement, his playing time is still almost the same as the previous season, I think it's okay for him to take that rule, he is still young, he doesn't need to rush things and I can say he is not yet ready to be a starter, no offense but my honest observation only.
I am perfectly aware of the stats. But bare in mind that last season he was starter and had good chemistry with Kawhi while now he is part of the 2nd unit, which doesn't play good at all at the moment. For example, just look at Lou Williams numbers this season and compare it to previous one (he was good though in the last game vs Bulls), so no wonder that Zubac numbers ain't great either.
5102  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advice for beginner HODLers on: January 11, 2021, 09:54:50 AM

5) Download an app called "CoinGecko" if you want to track the price of BTC and other crypto. It's a nice addition but not essential

I would advise exact opposite of that if you are starting your hodling career. There is no need to have any sort of app on your phone if you plan to hold for longer period of time as it may only distract you from your goal and you might be tempted to panic sell once BTC starts dumping and these things will happen occasionally during your hodling career.

I joined the hodl club sometime in the late 2018/early 2019 and one of the first things I did was to remove Blockfolio app from my phone. I simply stopped worrying about current BTC price and fluctuations and focused on the long term goal, and that's the biggest advantage of being a hodler.

I put all my btc in coinbase, is it safe?
No. Not your keys, not your bitcoin.
5103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: January 11, 2021, 09:28:12 AM
Warriors won again in a thrilling game.

I like how they mature, they can come back anytime and win games.
Congratulations to them, for another win.
Most important thing for Warriors is that they managed to win the game despite Curry having a horrendous game. You won't see shim shooting 2-16 and Warriors wining anyway too often. They showed some good team basketball, with 7 players being in double digits.

Gotta vent a bit in regard to my countrymen Zubac and his situation in Clippers. After Doc Rivers got replaced with Tyronn Lue and Montrezl Harrell left them for Lakers, I kinda expected that this will be his year and that he will finally get some decent minutes but unfortunately I was wrong. Once again he is 2nd option behind Ibaka, who is obviously  better defensive player, but Zubac is young, can score and is a great rim protector. He should have been treated as a future of Clippers and not some rotation player.
5104  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: January 11, 2021, 08:48:06 AM

Isto stvar rade i u mojoj kampanji.

5105  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk ranking difficulty on: January 11, 2021, 08:37:03 AM
I also don't see why it's so important to rank up, it's not like you're getting free BTC with every upgrade.
That's basically what you get with each rank upgrade via signature campaign. Higher the rank, better the chances of getting into BTC signature campaign and better the money.

From a numerical point of view though, there don’t seem to be that many people capable of reaching an in-between rank such as that of Full Member, which only requires 120 Activity, alongside 100 Merits, the latter being the most difficult.
And then you have some people creating topics in Meta asking for increasing ranking up requirements, and are usually basing that on their own ability to rank up without looking at bigger picture. In reality, someone who is new to  cryptocurrencies and forums in general won't have an easy task to rank up the forum ladder, and the numbers you presented are backing that up.
5106  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: January 11, 2021, 07:34:32 AM

5108  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Fake Atomic wallet on: January 11, 2021, 06:59:52 AM
One more fake wallet appeared on Google Play, and this time it's Atomic. I honestly never used that one, but since it's often used by scammers I guess it is pretty popular among android users. App was released last week but it's already full of fake reviews. I contacted Atomic via Telegram, asking them to report the fake app directly and share the warning for their users, but somehow I doubt that they will do the latter.

Please report the app, it will only take a minute of your time as it  might save someone, and remember to always download the apps directly from developers website!

5109  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bit coin crashing ? $3,000 by noon today on: January 10, 2021, 08:40:39 PM
Is this the start of free fall ? I dont see bitcoin loosing so much in one day ever before . I'm so glad I cashed out on Friday.
You must be joking, right? BTC went down few thousands and you immediately think that it's going to 3,000. With that kind of attitude I am surprised that you managed to hodl bitcoin for a few years.

Sure, big correction will happe sooner or later, as always, but I don't think that we are there yet. And even if that happens, it will be a chance to accumulate more and BTC will come stronger than before.

5112  Economy / Scam Accusations / List of fake wallets on Google Play, 3 active at the moment! on: January 10, 2021, 09:48:49 AM
Since almost every popular crypto wallet has its fake version on Google Play, I decided to make this list in order to make it easier for everyone to report them, going with the logic that if more of us report the fake app Google might react faster and remove them, making less people loose money.

This list will be constantly updated so please report all cases in which app is still available on Google Play. I plan to check current status very often, so in case you see wallet status is marked as "active" please report them. It will only take a minute of your time and it might save someone from making a huge mistake. To make reporting easier I also provided direct link to the app, just please make sure not to download the app.

Important: Always download apps directly from developers website!

5113  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] 10 fake wallets on Google Play - please report them on: January 10, 2021, 08:50:42 AM
It also happens on iOS which apparently have stringent policies on which apps gets to app store and which not.
I don't know whether its true or not but I read somewhere that Apple is manually checking each and every new app that is submitted while Google checks only certain percentage so its no wonder that Google Play is full of fake wallets.

I am not an iOS user so out of curiosity I took my wife's iPad to see how many fake wallets can I found on Apple store. I checked Blockhain, BRD, Atomic, Jaxx, Mycelium, mew, Exodus, Coinomi and found zero fake wallets using their name. The only suspicious thing I found is one Trust wallet that could be fake. Big difference compared to Google Play where there are at least 12 (@Dave1 reported yesterday two more fake Jaxx) fake wallets at the moment. When you combine Google's less thorough screening process and more users, you get that discrepancy between Android and iOS platforms.

It's time for Google to step up the game, it's not like they can't afford more manpower to tackle that issue.
5114  Economy / Reputation / Re: [LIST] ANN threads that are using bumping services on: January 10, 2021, 07:08:04 AM
The ANN thread owner did do bumping services but it not mostly done by the Vitor Services cause some project owner do it by themselves, I an saying this cause I have seen a lot of fiveer users who offers services in selling forum account which I think they can easily buy and pump the ANN themselves, either way, it could the work of Vito but they are not always behind it.
Well of course they are not the only ones that are offering bumping, I know that there are many of them offering services via Fiverr, but somehow I doubt those have access to Newbie accounts made in 2011. When you look at these cases long enough you start noticing some patterns.  As I said, it looks like them but I can't be 100% sure that they are behind Upwork bumping but in the end it doesn't matter much who exactly is doing that.

The 'workbit' thread is likely connected to the guys with malware wallets/fake miners, i mean it has to be one of theirs, all of the evidence leads to them.
It's either them, or maybe they have the same account supplier. Someone had to think in advance and make all those accounts back in the early bitcointalk days and probably is selling them in bulk. Looks to me like they have unlimited amount of those old accounts as no matter how many of them get banned, new ones are constantly popping up.

But I think you are onto something here with Workbit-malware wallets connection  as I see Workbit ANN has been reported yesterday to have malware link so hopefully it gets deleted soon.

One more thread has been added to the list

[ANN] BUMO - Public Blockchain for Ubiquitous Value Transfer
Thread was created yestrday and almost immediately newbies started their work. Accounts used are also active on several other threads that are already on the list like Baex, Base Protocol, Investro, Totem etc.
5115  Other / Meta / Re: Shouldn't this be treated as an obvious plagiarism case? on: January 09, 2021, 04:32:41 PM
A recent story about using someone else's photos
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1926895.msg55511429#msg55511429

That case is not similar to the one I reported. From what I could see, @icopress didn't explicitly claimed anywhere that those photos were made by him and no one reasonable would assume that just because he shared some photos, while @bitcoinermat did exactly that and not only once, but he wrote in several posts confirming that claim. And why? To farm some merit.

That's why I wanted the opinion of the forum staff as the way I see it what @bitcoinermat did was textbook example of plagiarism and it shouldn't be allowed.

Even if you don't call it plagiarism, are we going to let people get away with spam by letting people post images and pretend they drew them? Might as well start scraping content from popular crypto artists and make threads out of them.
Since there was no clarification of the rule and @bitcoinermatt is still not banned and my report is unhandled I guess plagiarism rule doesn't apply to images even in obvious cases like this.
5116  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] 10 fake wallets on Google Play - please report them on: January 09, 2021, 04:11:00 PM
A simple and easy tip to find fake and real wallets on play store is "Look at the number of downloads and reviews".

Less number of downloads cannot be considered as complete fake app but 99% of the time it will be a one so this can be easy for screening even by a real complete newbie.
True, but every once in a while someone will make that mistake, download the wrong and loose the money. The fact that we see so many fake apps is indication that this tactic works and people falling for it.

Being Google clearly slower than desired to act in these cases, often requiring the public to perform multiple reports before they take a look into the matter, I wonder if wallet developers shouldn’t take it upon themselves to dedicate 5 minutes per day (perhaps a couple of times per day) to detect and report wallets that are trying to scam-clone their wallets.
I reported fake wallets directly to developers several times and I didn't notice those reported apps disappearing any faster. What certainly  didn't help is their reluctance to warn their users through social media channels that there is a fake app. I am sure that would help remove those apps faster than it is now as it usually take several weeks before Google reacts.

Ideally, the store could device a mechanism to fast track the revision of these petitions when made by older publisher accounts, against accounts that have published recent content.
+1
Google is allegedly manually checking certain amount of apps so what I think they should so is manually check every app submitted by new account without prior history. That way number of those fake app would be reduced greatly. It's not like they can't afford the manpower to do that, but I guess they don't care much as they covered their ass with TOS.
5117  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning] 10 fake wallets on Google Play - please report them on: January 09, 2021, 08:59:29 AM
Playstores should not be use for app download, visiting the app download official site is necessary because fake ones can mistakenly be downloaded from playstores, google playstore most especially.
More experienced users are perfectly aware of that, but those are not scammers target audience. They aim at beginners&average uses who are using Google Store for years and in huge majority of cases they won't change that habit when downloading the crypto wallet app for the first time. In their head Google Store is perfectly safe since they probably didn't  have any issues before while getting some irrelevant apps so why change the practice now?

Another issue is common misconception that Google is responsible for money lost due fake apps and that you can sue them if that happens ( I recently came across several users on one other forum who thought that's the case) while in reality they covered that in TOS stating that "Google is not responsible for and does not endorse any Content made available through Google Play that originates from a source other than Google."
5118  Economy / Scam Accusations / [Warning] 10 fake wallets on Google Play - please report them on: January 09, 2021, 08:32:15 AM
As we all know, Google Play is full of fake wallets so I decided to check the most popular ones to see how many of those can I find. Can't say I'm surprised to see so many fake wallets currently available and I honestly don't understand why Google won't start manually checking each and every wallet that appears on their platform, especially if it's made by the unknown developer that doesn't have any reputation.

Just a reminder to always download the wallets directly from developers website as Google simply can't be trusted in that regard and please take  few minutes of your time to report fake wallets below. The more of us report them, better the chances they get removed.

Hello Rikafip,

I think that [ANN] Workbit - Freelance platform belong to be in the list of using bumping service.

Topic is self-moderated, lots of old Newbie and Jr.Member accounts that started to post on January 4-5. They post only in this exact topic and create a conversation between each other. I've made a simple post with hint that might help project to improve, but it seems on purpose it was either ignored or got no reaction.
You are absolutely right, they indeed hired bumping service and by the looks of it, they hired most popular one, Vitor Services. All accounts are at least few years, some are even from 2011 (I still wonder how they have so many accounts from that early bitcointalk period) and they are currently active only in Workbit announcement thread. Standard Vitor Services M.O.

Workbit thread has been added to the list, making it 90th entry since I started eight months ago, and that's just those were identified and reported here, who knows how many more are still undetected.
5120  Economy / Reputation / Re: [LIST] ANN threads that are using bumping services on: January 08, 2021, 10:39:10 AM
All shady comments from their thread have been deleted.
And the new ones keep appearing. I just don't understand why mods simply didn't delete/locked the thread as it is a a clear violation of bitcointalk rules, my report is still unhandled.

Specifically, you are not allowed to give people any incentive to post insubstantial posts in your threads. You can't offer to pay people who post their addresses, usernames, etc. You can do giveaways off-site and link to the giveaway page in a thread, but you can't give people any bonus for replying to your thread.

Similar threads are already restricted to Games and Rounds in the non-altcoin sections, but the giveaway-related post volume is so high in the altcoin sections that I've decided to just ban them entirely here.

Now I also noticed that they received an unnatural amount of positive feedback in the "Trust" section within a few days. In my opinion, leaving a positive "trust" is also one of the requirements in some airdrop or campaign they are running:
Yeah it is obviously connected to airdrop as same accounts that left comments on the thread also left positive trust feedbacks. If you check their website, you won't find that among the requirements so I guess they have at least that much brain not to ask for that openly but rather "under the table".
