5121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Palit GTX 1070 dual exceeds the limit that I see from MSIafterburner? on: March 13, 2019, 02:28:23 AM
Software-wise, any temperature controller doesn't actually control the temperature.
It tweaks the processes to match the max temperature setting, like slow-down the GPU-core when the temp gets too hot and normalize it if it's far from the set value.

Hardware-wise, it may have been reaching above the maximum value because of the fan, hardware issues and external temperature (or location in the room).
For example: after reaching the maximum temp it's already beyond 61%+, MSI Afterburner reduced the processes to minimum to reduce the temp but the room is too hot, core have temp issues and the fan can't efficiently cool the GPU; making it reach up to 70%.

I assume that the other rigs aren't 1070s.
5122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Help!] How to receive bitcoins (I am a beginner!) on: March 13, 2019, 02:01:06 AM
This whole donation thing smells fishy.
But anyways, try pamodlar's suggestion but install android version of electrum instead if your PC doesn't have a webcam.

In the wallet creation process (import prv keys/addresses).
When prompted to input private keys, use the "camera icon" just below the input box and scan the QR code.
After a successful scamscan, if the output starts with "1, 3 or bc1" it's an address and the donator is a scammer;
if it starts with "5, K or L" that's a private key, create a new wallet and sweep it instead so others wont be able to spend it (fingers crossed that it's a private key).
5123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transactions on: March 12, 2019, 08:58:47 AM
So what exactly the problem with OP?
Eh, you just rephrased the first sentence of the third paragraph of my previous post Huh
Read the OP?: It is being displayed as "0/3 confirmation" in blockchain(dot)com's wallet and based on his replies, he has no idea that it was spent years ago.

As the quoted part says, he should contact the CS why is his old and spent tx are being displayed like "that". (for clarification).
Who knows, they might have spent it since they still have the control of the SEEDs and private keys, but that's quite unrealistic.

Additional questions were asked because he might be a a victim of a scam where the scammer offers a loaded fake/tempered/watch-only wallet backups or he's using a fake website URL (just some possibilities);
there could be other things that might have happened, but the problem isn't Bitcoin.
5124  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 2 more exchanges down on: March 12, 2019, 04:01:58 AM
Just one "key member" got arrested and the whole exchange got a serious issue, and based from the article, not even totally crypto-related;
if it is an exchange from my country, chances that one or two members have a questionable background is high.
Guess it's time to move some of my coins out of the local exchange where it is sitting...

Hey OP, are those suspended exchanges "famous" in their local population?
Because I haven't heard of any suspended exchange (international-media/news), guess, it's just another scammy exchange that you can find right here in this board.
5125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transactions on: March 12, 2019, 03:19:03 AM
Weird, those transactions were "mined" a long time ago.

For example (the 1st and second txs):
Also, the address 15NgSxPvHToDCUYPrAbK3tiWhyE5czQ9Lf was last used in April 2018.

If based from the Bitcoin's network, there's no problem with the transactions (as a matter of fact, the inputs were already spent).
It's either a problem with blockchain.info (now ".com") or the wallet account/backup itself (assuming that it's an old backup).

You should contact blockchain.com's CS since they are the one who are partially in control of your funds there.
For the latter, are you the one who've created this wallet or was it sold/given to you by someone?
5126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unconfirmed transactions on: March 12, 2019, 01:31:45 AM
Which "Blockchain wallet"?
Can you tell us the full name because it looks like it's an issue with that particular service to me because transaction will not be stuck in a limbo for months.

There's no security issue with sharing TxID or Addresses, just privacy.
If you do not want to share it, at least provide more accurate info.

By the way, if it is Blockchain.info, the push Tx is only for broadcasting signed raw transactions, not an accelerator.
5127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Miners:- Unable Over Constantinople HardFork on: March 11, 2019, 10:28:07 AM
-snip-
Not sure if you really understood your linked source or not because there was no "1. Higher energy consumption to the mining" mentioned there.
But you got me, I've clicked the link and read the whole article just to find "more details"... Σ( ̄□ ̄||)
5128  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitpay Card ATM Withdrawals Suspended - Possibly Permanently on: March 11, 2019, 04:14:58 AM
Banks started push back big time. We noticed this too. The only way is to move as much as we can to crypto. They understand it's over for them. Especially because government is supporting blockchain use. -snip-
You're that guy/company who sells Mining equipment to Ebay, right?

Maybe a problem with Visa? Old news but if that's the case, you're not wrong.
In my country, some Exchange cash-out options for fiat have been withdrawn and one particular bank cash-out option has more downtime than usual since this issue started.

So I guess that this isn't limited to Bitpay or Paypal (in TeslaWatt's case, anything crypto related was marked as "high-risk" by PP).
5129  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Wicotiz Mastercard- To good to be true??? on: March 11, 2019, 03:44:32 AM
A MasterCard "without ID required"....
Too good to be true, if it is legit, it will be forced to subject to KYC/AML requirement anytime soon.
And you mentioned about reviews from freenom domain sites which can be mass-produced by the same team, it's already telling that this is a fraudulent marketing strategy by an unknown team.

Additionally, I've check the website's code, it's filled with "comments" and "enclosed in comment elements" which could mean that the site might be purchased from an easy to use "template" for "multiple quick-to-make" purposes.
Plus, hiding the domain's Registrant Contact info, really?

What I mean is: it's not too professional as you think (for a "Banking" company).
They should at least start an [ANN] or support thread here for clarification.
5130  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum long term viability on: March 11, 2019, 03:09:51 AM
[1] Pardon my lack of technical knowledge, but wouldn't bitcoin core be able to import any HD wallet seed generated by Electrum?

[2] Seems like as long as bitcoin is around there will be some way of accessing your wallet.  [3] Worst case scenario you'll have to archive the last version of Electrum if the dev team gives up on it.
  • [1] No, Electrum does use BIP39 word list but it doesn't generate the SEED the same way as standard BIP39 wallets; thus, it's not compatible.
  • [2] Yes, there are tools that can be used to extract the Mater Private key or List of Private keys of Electrum's SEED like HCP's simple "hacked" version of iancoleman.io.
Or if he picked the Paper Wallet as cold storage, it doesn't matter which wallet he's planning to use in the future as long long as it supports Sweep or Import Private key.
  • [3] If ever, I will be useful for natively exporting the keys but can't be used to send out since if the development and support had ended, "good" servers might vanish as well (but that's a far-fetched scenario).
5131  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum long term viability on: March 10, 2019, 04:45:07 AM
-snip-
Uh, mostly correct but as pooya said, public key isn't the same as the address.
I've only added "+(optional Public key)" because most paper wallets have a public key included but in reality, you only need the address' private key to spend it.
It's up to you to include it.

Next, you don't need to connect the "freshly installed xubuntu PC" to the internet to confirm the bitcoin balance.
If you really need to see it "received" to electrum, just create a new "watch-only wallet" to an online machine by either importing the whole wallet's Master Public key or your picked address.

By connecting the source wallet to the net, it can't be called a "cold storage" anymore.
Just really-really make sure that the private key and the address are the correct pair.
5132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Is there an app that allows you to create checksum adherent vanity addresses? on: March 10, 2019, 03:38:33 AM
Guys, I think he needs a valid address generator (even without the private key) that's why he mentioned "burner address" and "with checksum" since you can't simply create a random address.

By using Vanitygen or any optimized address generator to create "1StackBitcoinEater" (17 words, excluding "1") prefix,
it will take billions of years even with the latest GPU.

-I'll edit this if I happen to find one-
5133  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum long term viability on: March 10, 2019, 02:53:59 AM
-snip-

So what is the answer if you want to invest in bitcoins and forget about them for a couple of years without having to worry about security and updating wallets?
Paper wallets? Huh
@tezza123 Paper wallet: All you have to do is to pick one Private key and address pair from any offline-generated wallet or generate it yourself using tools/math, then discard the SEED if you picked the wallet method.
Stamp the PrvKey+Address+(optional Public key) to a durable material and keep it safe.

All you have to do to fund it is to send the Bitcoins to that address (you can monitor the balance by typing the address to any online blockexplorer).

Quote from: tezza123
When I want to buy more bitcoin would i be best to send to the same public key provided by electrum or use one of the others it provided?
Sending more than one BTC transaction to your offline storage won't pose a risk to your privacy since it wont be used for a long time or displayed online. Unless you're planning to use it frequently.
Reusing address will be an issue for a "Hot wallet" with a few "public" addresses.
5134  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins - this is the end? on: March 10, 2019, 02:33:58 AM
Edit: now you have the response, and now it's clear, "your friend" is the one who's caused you the problem. It is highly abnormal that both you and he became active again at the same time and he marked you as fraudulent. Definitely can't blame LBC for the freeze now with this info come to light. Good luck recovering.
That's what I said yesterday, even before OP's reply about the response.
@agagam don't your have any other method of communication to that friend of yours?
He himself forfeiting the flag is more easier than rummaging through old documents.
5135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Is Now Mining (BTM), over 50% of hashrate, new undisclosed ASIC on: March 09, 2019, 03:53:59 AM
-snip-
bytom was surpose to be an asic only coin but gpus attacked bytom and made those early asics obsolete.
I think I found out why is was advertised as an ASIC-only coin: Google search-> Bytom partnered with Bitmain.

Uh, in that case, GPU miners are the "bad guys" in Bytom and Bitmain's eyes.
GPU miners totally wrecked the partner in crime's scamplan Cheesy

Disclaimer: there are no strong evidence that Bitmain is secretly mining coin using their unreleased powerful ASICs.
5136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on android phone on: March 09, 2019, 03:39:15 AM
I’m a complete beginner with this , does anyone have any tips for apps to mine bitcoin through android phones? I read various stories on doing this, some not so great but thought I’d give it a try
By stories, I bet you've heard of "Browser-based mining" and "Mobile miners",
but any of these aren't really "mining" per definition.

If you're too enthusiastic to try it, here's some info:
  • You can actually earn a few satoshi (uBTC) by visiting faucets that offer "Mining" using your browser (though, almost all known faucets removed this feature).
  • Or try one of the most famous "mobile mining" gimmick ever created to earn a few centavo-value ETN (Electroneum);
I don't want to link to avoid advertisement, just google search the keywords (I bet that this is the one that you've heard over the internet).
5137  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins - this is the end? on: March 09, 2019, 03:12:58 AM
-snip- the partner I have traded is known for me, we have contact outside Localbitcoins, however he is offline for weeks.
-snip-
Hey this statement is more useful than you think.
It seems like the problem was (accidentally?) brought by the Seller (Your trade partner for those particular trades),
If you can ask him to contact support regarding these transactions, you might solve the issue without contacting the customer support yourself.

And for Christ's sake, it's not "that" long since the last reply, I know a few exchange support where it always took weeks for the CS to respond.
But it's pretty obvious that the one you've contacted doesn't really know what he's doing (advised to use the chat to a suspended account  Roll Eyes).
5138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Unknown BTC transactions go IN and OUT of my wallet on: March 09, 2019, 01:55:03 AM
-snip- I started to think as well that I don't actually own my key.   Yikes ...not ideal.
-snip-
Based from this, I'm stating to think that you have been scammed or only know less than quarter about "being your own bank" or , aka. in control of the bitcoin wallet or owning the private key(s).
Because, if you do own the private key(s), at least you should be certain that you're the one who've created the wallet (file) and not imported from somewhere/someone else.
FYI, it's normal for a "watch-only" wallet to successfully receive coins, the problem is spending the inputs.

The scenario in the OP will not happen by any chance if those addresses weren't used by someone else or imported by yourself.
It highly unlikely that your address had a collision to an exchange's address (impossibility in a universal scale).

Please tell us what wallet is it and how it was created.
5139  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum private key on: March 08, 2019, 04:00:11 AM
Make sure that you're offline when displaying your Private keys (in case of a malware/virus infection), then follow this:

  • Just click "Wallet" menu, select "Private Keys", and click "Export".
  • Type in your Passphrase and all of your addresses' private keys will be displayed (you can also dump it as CVS or json if you want)

If the wallet name at the top (title bar) displays "watch-only", the private key menu will be unclickable.
5140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Is Now Mining (BTM), over 50% of hashrate, new undisclosed ASIC on: March 08, 2019, 03:13:22 AM
I love how people just constantly ascribe bad intentions to NORMAL HARDWARE TESTS.
I don't know why people think that using the hardware for more than a week/month until it's shipping day is normal hardware tests.

At the same time, that "hardware test" already "killed" the majority of the GPU miners of that particular coin.
Talk about greed.

Another GPU mineable (and profitable) token out of game  Cry
It's not totally a token (Ethereum contract), it's a coin (has its own blockchain).
