5121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Up by 16% Post Halving on: May 21, 2020, 02:45:35 AM
We have seen some minor correction in the last 24 hours, might be attributed to the 50 BTC that has been moved. Anyhow, the point is that post-halving, we have this kind of momentum that's why we didn't see a dump right after. So it's very different scenario as compare to 2016 halving. And maybe some miners opted out because of profitability and cost. But I'm sure we can continue to grow in the next coming months and hit $10k and continue this mini bull run after halving.

5124  Economy / Scam Accusations / Be careful with this Bitcoin mixer on: May 19, 2020, 11:58:49 AM
Strange, when I used the keyword "bitcoin mixer", this is the website that ranks number 1 on Google

Code:
https://bitcoinmix.org/

Really weird to see a unknown bitcoin mixing on top of the page.

They have a thread in this community, The No.1 Bitcoin Mixer!. but it's dead already.

And looking closely:

Code:
https://bitcoinmix.org/js/main.js

Quote
Theme",animation:{open:"animated bounceInLeft",close:"animated bounceOutLeft",easing:"swing",speed:700}})}function generateAll(){setTimeout(function(){generate(randbtc+" BTC mixed, commission "+randprocent+" %")},rand),setTimeout(function(){generate(randbtc2+" BTC mixed, commission "+randprocent2+" %")},rand2),setTimeout(function(){generate(randbtc3+" BTC mixed, commission "+randprocent3+" %")},rand3),setTimeout(function(){generate(randbtc4+" BTC mixed, commission "+randprocent4+" %")},rand4),setTimeout(function(){generate(randbtc5+" BTC mixed, commission "+randprocent5+" %")},rand5),setTimeout(function(){generate(randbtc6+" BTC mixed, commission "+randprocent6+" %")},rand6),setTimeout(function(){generate(randbtc7+" BTC mixed, commission "+randprocent7+" %")},rand7),setTimeout(function(){generate(randbtc8+" BTC mixed, commission "+randprocent8+" %")},rand8),setTimeout(function(){generate(randbtc9+" BTC mixed, commission "+randprocent9+" %")},rand9),setTimeout(function(){generate(randbtc10+" BTC mixed, commission "+randprocent10+" %")},rand10)}var

Just some random numbers, which is obviously fake. So this is a warning for beginners or newbies who are exploring bitcoin services. Although, it has been blocked by EAL already, but any beginners or newbie can still fall for this trap.

If anyone wanted to see the a list of bitcoin mixing, I will refer you to this thread, 2020 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites.

5125  Economy / Speculation / Re: Some Interesting pump in BTC on: May 18, 2020, 04:55:18 PM
After the halving the price of BTC has increased now from the past few hours is this a bull effect??? I think big business fortunes are buying more BTC now because the entire global market has been crashed right now so they filling the bags by buying BTC and making it demand..
The market is really unpredictable. There are a lot of prediction that the price will experience some sort of dump, however, we didn't see it happening. Although there are reports that old mining rigs have been retired because it's no longer profitable. But we didn't see any effect on the price. Maybe hashrate has no correlation to the market price.

This crypto market is always been a twist, to be it seems like the price might reach $12k in couple of weeks. Guys share your thoughts.
Although, the price is increasing post-halving, 5 digit seems to be very hard to reach. Definitely $12k is doable, might take some time before you can finally reach it. The next coming months will be a big test, so see if we can reach it, otherwise an imminent down side to $8k-$9k.

Second site is identical to what I report few days ago -> Ledger Fake Site/s - Seed stealers!.

It is possible that it is the same person or someone is selling this way of earning money on the black market. I reported that site 4 days ago, but I can still access it via Firefox. Google phishing report is obviously like everything else in slow mode, and that goes to the hand of those who do things like this.

If you are talking about this website:

Code:
https://ledger.cl/

Yes, they are very similar, the look and the feel of the website, but when I check the domain name behind, they are different. But we all know how criminal works, so probably someone is selling the theme in dark market or other hackers forums that's why it keeps popping.

There are also fake Facebook pages just like the other thread that's posted.

--> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5245916.0

Does Ledger do take action with these fake sites and pages? they are having a hard time combatting these because there's a lot of it.
Yes, they have identified this as a problem and have post about it on their official blog.

https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035343054-Beware-of-phishing-attempts

They encourage users to report them ASAP and I'm sure that they are active pursuing those fake/phishing site. Education is the key here to at least not to be a victim of these cyber criminals.
5132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How would you view an ICO project if it was launched by an accredited lawyer? on: May 08, 2020, 11:30:29 PM
Hey there everyone,

Just a curious question on the perception differences between a regular ICO and one that was run by an accredited lawyer - would that make a difference to you as in investor?
Doesn't make any difference at all. But if it boils down to trust and credibility, of course 'lawyer' may sway them to invest, but it is not an assurance that they won't scam.

In the past, at the height of the ICO investment craze, I know that name dropping companies and "respected" individuals as advisors would almost be enough to convince investors who didn't know better.

Moreover, now there's a greater shift towards IEOs for scam prevention purposes with counter-party checks.

Just a curious question! Share your thoughts!
It's because it was really the hype, the peak of investors pouring their money and thinking that they can will make a lot of money. Investors mature in the next following years, so they are careful regardless of who are the people behind.

5133  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Halving about to make a major move? on: May 07, 2020, 11:29:45 PM
As only five days left from now will there be a major change in price?? Speculation across this forum are very positive and now we can see the price change every day as well.
Yes, everyone is very excited for the halving in couple of days and very bullish about it.

Comparing to previous month we have seen a massive change of 20% in price, will this story continue? With Halving just around the corner hopefully we will see the same increase like previous Halvings. Guys share your opinions..
As I have said, everyone is very positive pre halving, we might hit 5 digit soon at the price is having a good rally in the last 24 hours. The big mental barrier is about to be breach, so stay tune. The concern is what is going to happen after the halving. Either it's a dump or the price continue to go and peak at $12k-$15k.
5134  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is bullish longterm on: May 07, 2020, 11:03:09 PM
I have a feeling that people buying bitcoin just because of the halving are going to be a little disappointed.
In every investment, there will be always people that's going to be disappointed specially if it didn't met their expectations. And maybe they will be on a rude awakening once bitcoin goes on another all time high.

The market has a way of doing the entire opposite of what majority expects and this is because we refuse to answer of what happens when everyone buys the bottom.

I don't know why alot of people seem to worry so much about bitcoin investment, either the halving happens today or tomorrow, bitcoin is bullish on the longterm.

Do your own research and expect tge market to change its game.
Looking at yearly charts, definitely, bitcoin is very bullish long term. But there are investors who frustrated, sell their bitcoin and doesn't want to look at the bigger picture.
5135  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reason behind the Bitcoin price could reach $50,000 in 2020 on: May 07, 2020, 11:32:10 AM
For BTC to hit 50k we would need to see a market cap of  about one trillion.
More than 1 trillion is a good guestimate here.

Considering that the halvening price is in, I doubt that we will see another money coming in. Unless there is FOMO and institutional and retail investors and more fresh blood pump the market again.

Considering the trillions upon trillions being printed out of nothing it is hardly a stretch of imagination for BTC to have trillion market cap fairly soon.
Possible, but it might take years to get to a new all-time-high. We will see a lot of bumps along the way, similar to 2016-2017 bullish ride.
5136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MetaMask for Ethereum Crosses 1,000,000 User Milestone on: May 07, 2020, 10:56:52 AM
This is really an impressive number considering the level of competition in this space, but fact still remains that how many of this users are active users.  This is where really matters form a platform as big as this because using this platform is highly complicated for newbies.  I wish thedev team considers simplifying the platform for easy usage
It is already easy and even newbies can install it and learn how to used the apps.

I think the devs have simplified the platform already the problem is that newbies doesn't check everything before installing it and probably getting a fake apps on their machine. Yes, I would say that it is really impressive the way it grow in the last couple of years.

There will be competition no doubt and make or improving apps that will make us crypto enthusiast more comfortable, but still we need to be careful when downloading apps, just saying.
5137  Economy / Speculation / Re: New ATH after halving? on: May 07, 2020, 10:20:54 AM
Before 2016 halving, the price went up a total of 50% and this time, when btc is getting closed to the halving, we saw this sudden price pump. During 2016, there was a little uncertainty from China, while we have now the pandemic. What do you think? Will we see 10000 above within this week and new ATH soon?

The idea would indeed be to see a new ATH somewhere after the halving... at some point....

Yes, that's what halving supposed to do in the market, make bitcoin more demanding resulting in the price increase. It might takes years to do that, but the point is that eventually, at some point, we might see new all-time-high.

I think our goal is to get first to 5 five before the halving and see how it goes. Maybe weeks or months after, we will start to see the price grows and then new all time high after a couple of years.
5138  Economy / Gambling / Re: My urge to go to land base casino in this lock down and how I fight it. on: May 07, 2020, 07:38:56 AM
There are only many tips that other gamblers have shared here, maybe the OP wants to try to Yoga?

I know its sounds absurd really, but that's how I cope in this pandemic. I'm also addicted to playing in a traditional base casino as the ambience are very different and the same faces you met their. But since lockdown it is already close here.

So ever my mind think of gambling, I do watch Yoga videos in youtube to calm my mind. We don't know how long the lockdown, there are rumors here that it will be extend up to the end of the month. You have to keep not just your body, but your mind with positive things. Learn as well to appreciate everything around you.
