5122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin bull market on: March 15, 2022, 03:52:25 PM
Call me simplistic but this is really how I operate and it seems to hold true for me: when the noise surrounding you is generally that of a positive, bullish outlook - then it's a bear market. And that's what people trying to convince and will the market into submission sounds like.

When it's all doom and gloom, and even the hardiest of traders are shaking their head -- watch out, the cream is about to rise to the top.

In that sense, you can't really expect the bull when it arrives, but you can kind of expect when it's not.

P.S. There are days I wonder why I spend so long trying to understand something. This almost turned into one of those days.
5123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's UEFA Champions League Football Preditor Pool Discussion thread on: March 15, 2022, 12:39:08 PM
I think both Ajax and Atletico were really unlucky last week not to walk away with the win, but that just means tonight's games should be really fun to watch. Both home teams are clear favourites, so that suits me a lot. Going to back Atletico to win, although to qualify at 25/10 is also pretty good odds if they decide to go back to their playbook and just play to annoy. Think I'll wait for some kind of price boost to see if we can't get it bumped to 3/1 and parlay that with a Chelsea clean sheet tomorrow?

5124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 15, 2022, 11:37:53 AM
Not that easy, Arsenal wants the Champions League spot, so this will be hard to get.
Looking at the best predicts for that game on Wednesday should be a full time draw.

Oh, for sure, this isn't an easy game. But I like whenever we play Arsenal as they play the way we like (positive football) and it's generally a high-scoring entertainment edition whenever we play. A draw's definitely the smart bet, but I can't help betting on Liverpool.

All the pressure its now in the Manchester City side.

In horse races they have a very certain phrase: " horse that reaches wins " i dont know if the traslate of this aphorism its good for the english tongue, but just in case, says that the horse that reaches the pointer ends up winning.

Can Liverpool finally catch the City and made true the horse aphorism?

To be fair, the result doesn't change very much and the pressure is equal on both teams -- Liverpool still need to win every game, including and especially the one against City in April. If we draw that one and win everything else, then we still need City to drop points in one more game. A Palace win would have allowed us to win everything AND draw the City game. So as it stands, mathematically, the leage's two leading horses each have destiny in their own hands, simply winning everything left to play for... so I guess your horse metaphor makes perfect sense in the case of both teams Wink
5125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 15, 2022, 10:09:31 AM
Zverev and Medvedev out, so glad I didn't back the latter (he put me off last GS) but man, Nadal must be licking his chops. My Tsitsi also out, so there goes my outright even earlier than expected. Wow.

Am I crazy here or all that was said was "Naomi, you suck"?
Again, I know it is mental problem and I can't even think how it must be tough for her but I can guarantee that all players heard worse during their careers. Good thing she is in tennis, every time I play or watch lower league football I learn new curses Smiley

If that's all that was said, well, then she really really needs some help, come back stronger, etc. Needs to work on that first before she ever comes back. But like we all agree here I think there is also an unspoken rule about not beating down on someone who can't take it. Eriksen getting hugged after fouling in football to me demonstrates this.

But yeah, good thing tennis because I was 9 playing football and I got a hell lot worse than that. And watching school and college sports too, it gets way out of hand especially with no good officiating.

5127  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin touched $43k, from $33k in two weeks on: March 15, 2022, 09:34:12 AM
From $33k up to $43k is the biggest increase since new ATH in november 2021, this proves that bitcoin investment can skyrocket and earn big profits even when the market looks like a negative trend, and I'm sure in 2022 there will be new ATH at least 3 times .

Still, remind me of how right you are if/when we get 3 ATHs over the next 9 months.

Really hard to see on how we are going to achieved that in the next 9 months unless billions of dollars are going to flow into the market, but where it will come? from the Russian oligarchs? I doubt it.

We might as well feel extremely bearish in 2022 and shoot down that idea of reaching ATH 3x this year, Lol. At least we won't get disappointed by going bearish.

I get the excitement about institutional money, and I suppose oligarchies fall right into that category, but yeah, I still think retail interest is underestimated and their time isn't over. We're still going to need major mainstream consumer utility and demand to push us over into six-figure territory, which I'm certain the next range of ATHs should advance into.
5128  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: The default Wasabi Wallet coordinator will start censoring "illegal" UTXOs on: March 15, 2022, 08:14:17 AM
Things like this should definitely be expected to come at some point if you think realistically. But yea — kinda earlier than expected, but at the same time I think we already saw mixers get pursued by the authorities so I guess I'm not THAT surprised.

Anyway, wish some devs would just fork the privacy coinjoin stuff and integrate it to Bitcoin Core; if it's possible, that is.

Yeah, I think you, I and anyone paying attention will probably have to expect the worst when it comes to mixers (and I'm sure you guys all know what I'm talking about), and we'd probably have to expect it sooner rather than later. The only hopeful thing I can see is that some mixers still operate a little less visibly than the likes of Wasabi. And, in acknowledgment of above discussions on commercial/profiteering interest, some still choose to operate with clearer goals that would not see them give in to regulator pressure without a fight.
5129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: March 14, 2022, 09:59:29 PM
Not pretty, not at all, and Palace, well, if they'd just been half as clinical in passing as City up front, they could have had a shot on goal or two more. Zaha was really bright at holding, but his final pass just really poor, you have to be a bit better on the counter -- first time I've really seen Mateta playing and he's a bit lanky but also a good holder, I'd say an upgrade on Benteke.

4 points ahead having played one game more. Liverpool must beat Arsenal on Wednesday or this will be a waste!
5130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 14, 2022, 04:25:56 PM
@Trofo
Yeah, actually I just put Petra's game tomorrow on an acca with Tsitsi to get 2 legs up on Champions League football. Don't know much about her but I picked the best-looking 2/1 player after what should be a morale-boosting victory to get the better of Samsonova (and she's beaten her not too long ago).

@Cnut237
She's too young, I think, yeah, physically as well and that's not at all a criticism from me, just a matter of physics. Really important consideration for the rigours of a tournament, match fitness and conditioning hasn't quite had the time to set in. I know I say it without any real basis but I really do think her fantasy run was fantastical and sporting miracle that I doubt we'll see again soon. I always say there's a need to protect young talents and realign expectations. For the future this one, but it must be great times to be watching British Sports.
5131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +81268 units on: March 14, 2022, 03:36:34 PM
^Yeah, I can't even hate the guy, but if only I could get my anti-magic to work like this all the time, say shit about Lewie, get a hattrick, say shit about Ronaldo, get a hattrick.

So, Palace odds have been edging higher ever since Saturday, when it opened for 9/1 and now 11/1, with Super Boost, it's irresistible for me. It's not the formation I feel they can win with and City's game against United if they even play 70% of that, it's all over. But still, Palace at home?

100 units at Sportsbet on Palace to WIN vs City @12.51. Other odds: 11.00
Units advantage: 151

Running advantage after 118 bets: +13013 (+151)
All-time cumulative: +81,419
Running units after 117 bets (14W|103L): +1428 (-100)
5132  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🎰 Sportsbet.io 🎰 "Soccer Blackjack" @ 21.00 odds on: March 14, 2022, 03:09:23 PM
Tsk, just missed placing bets on the Turkish sides, feel like there's something in there between the two. Mallorca at home are just about 7/1, given Real's stubborn streak, I wonder what that means for Blackjack. 25 busts since the last hit, though, but as I've missed a handful, I'm just about still in the black. I suppose I'll back a heavy corner count for Real to see where this takes us Wink
5133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 14, 2022, 02:05:17 PM
There is an easy game in paper for Manchester City tonight against Crystal Palace
~snip

there is no this kind of tactics in Premier, they all play every match as if it is really important for them
it is different in Italy or Spain, but I expect Crystal Palace to fight in this match (not that I expect that they will take point or something, but they will not make it easier for City to get points)

Well I'm hoping good old Vieira finds it in himself to pull off a double against City. It's not quite the same lineup against them though but that away smash and grab was legendary and played to City's weakness: aerial threats, setpiece wobbles, absolute physicality. We've discussed this is how you go against them and it works.

Pacey Zaha is featuring and as always, Palace are a threat whenever he's playing, and he loves going up against Jesus, but an unknown factor for me is Mateta instead of Benteke and Ayew, have to admit haven't watched him play much.

"Only" 10/1 on Palace, but I think it's worth it.

5134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: March 14, 2022, 12:00:35 PM
In fact, in this season, Dortmund shows less dependence on Haaland. It comes from both sides: Dortmund proactively do more adaption and preparation for their life without Haaland; Haaland has less matches and contributions for Dortmund because he has more injuries in this season.

Anyway Dortmund still have good and acceptable results in general and I think they are confident for their future without Haaland. I read news that again Manchester City are going to make another offer to Dortmund for Haaland.

That was enforced through injury though, and you have to say, they probably could have done with his scoring boots in the 6 weeks or so since. The season Bayern's wobbly they lose him for a while (crazy his stats are still so good even with all that off period).

Still, I'm not sure BVB's ever going to turn this corner. And oh, hope he doesn't end up warming benches like his buddy Sancho. Which is likely to happen if he joins one of them big English clubs with enough money to prise him loose.
5135  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think the effects of soaring prices and fiat depreciation is on BTC? on: March 14, 2022, 10:58:13 AM
All of those things (transport, groceries, rent, oil, etc etc) caused the fiat to be less valuable and that is correct. However since it became less valuable, people needed more of it to pay for their stuff. This resulted with nothing great for us, not bad but not great neither.

The point I keep saying from before. Think even in 2020 when economists were predicting a recession to rival or even outstrip the Great Depression, leading to all the talk about Bitcoin rising like a phoenix, I couldn't see it. Yes, it "rose" from the ashes of the great banking collapse a decade ago, but when bills go up and food becomes dearer, people are going to be selling their gold, Bitcoin, dig into their savings, cut down on DCA. Hungry mouths are loud. The first victims are regular Joes and their modest BTC holdings.
5136  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: The default Wasabi Wallet coordinator will start censoring "illegal" UTXOs on: March 14, 2022, 08:58:19 AM
So where is this censorship going to stop? Are they going to say we are no longer accepting users from country A, B, C, D? Or claim the government ordered them to censor a list of addresses?

Thinking realistically — it's not going to stop. And yea, I'm pretty sure it's either due to government intervention or that they're taking extra safety precautions because they expect the government to interfere. It totally sucks, but I really don't blame them for the decision.

It definitely had to come from somewhere, external pressure, etc. As long as the devs are known, and their tech (in this case CJ) is used for activity enforcement's come to know of, they're going to have to comply (or face some very unsavoury penalty to be sure).

MetaMask I expected, not Wasabi so soon but yeah, probably naive to think that they could have gone on without getting tapped. Sucks ass, but we're going to have to increase the threshold for our worse expectations.
5137  Other / Archival / Re: Bitcoin at $1 000 000 by 2030 on: March 14, 2022, 08:12:48 AM
Comforting to read and makes me all warm and fuzzy, have to accept that 8 years into the future will be difficult to comprehend (I've only been properly in Bitcoin for six years and it's already a lot to chew on) but that's 2 halvings down the line, and a whole lot of economic development yet to come.

I do agree digital gold should be the biggest chunk of use case, retail and otherwise, but not sure yet that seizure resistant asset would take that much of the cake. I thought the use case was pretty clear already during the JCPOA period and height of Syrian flight, but maybe I'm underestimating what states will attempt over the next 5 years when revenue needs become urgent.
5138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: March 14, 2022, 07:18:17 AM
Anyone actually expect Raducanu to drop out so early? I've never convinced myself to bet on her after her perfect GS, always felt that was a bit of a one-off (and I know saying this may very well bit me in the ass one day).

Re: Tsitsipas, he isnt on my radar anymore, I lost a lot of bets last year with him
and he seemed to struggle yesterday against Jack Sock, no disrespect to Sock.

Re: Osaka, I feel really sorry for her, that incident obviously affected her, she lost that
first set 0-6. She rightly so asked for that scum to be removed but it seems they
couldnt identify it. Its ok to cheer on you player, obviously at the right moments but
to heckle Osaka is not OK, that scum should have been made an example of.

A bit stubborn of me to stick with the Greek after consecutive letdowns too, expected him to overperform in AO but last month final appearance gives me hope he may yet surprise me, but yeah definitely downgrading my outrights on tennis for the time-being.

I get what Trofo's saying too, I get heckling is part of the game (same as I get that for some players they're abusive, whatever) but it's never cool to pick on someone who's obviously not in the right frame of mind. I'm happy to insult all my friends all day long too, but the moment I know they're not able to take it, or they're already down, I'm not touching them. Picking on the weak? That's playground bullying. If the guy didn't know it, he would have admitted to it by now.

But in the end, yeah, Osaka needs to return when she can deal with it. Part of growing up is facing down those bullies. I should know Wink

Well, Hash Clash had to end the way it did. Was really hopeful for a comeback once Saints halved the deficit just before half time, plus I had JWP to get on the scoresheet, in the end, I suppose one apiece is fair, at each other's home ground too.

Anyone able to catch Steve at Clubtalk? Long busy day for me away from my screen =) Getting ready for at least a half-time peek at the Gunners though!
5140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: March 13, 2022, 04:08:53 PM
Spurs has to be one of the most inconsistently good teams in the Premier League. One day they look like world beaters with their counter attacking style, and then other times they look like they'll just about roll over for anyone in the league. This was particularly highlighted with the game against Man City, they looked like every counter attack they could score, yet they play against Man Utd, which lets be honest despite the win aren't particularly good at the moment, and Spurs just look absolutely hopeless.

Chelsea also struggling against Newcastle, I made a bet for a 0-0 at half time as Chelsea has found it hard to break down teams at times, and I always see Newcastle as a first half team, but they usually lose it in the second.

Yeah, Ronaldo hattrick papered over what was essentially a vintage poor show from United, highlighted by the 2 goals directly from poor defensive play (Maguire's face when he does something dumb has almost become something to bet on now). But Spurs as well, really, haphazard passing, slow to get themselves in position... Chelsea super lucky to get that late goal.

Everton, though, dire, dire. Wolves reminded us their 4 goals was a fluke, back to the 1-0 wins, but I made a mistake of backing Villa again, Hammers had to win this at home, didn't they? Same can be said of Watford, but it was always going to be tight today with no clear favs in all the games.
