5141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Computer mining is costly nowadays. Does anyone use mobile phones to mine? on: December 10, 2021, 08:10:12 AM
TL/DR Summary:
 - You CANNOT meaningfully mine bitcoin with your PC or laptop no matter how powerful it is.
 - You CANNOT meaningfully mine bitcoin with your tablet or phone no matter how powerful it is.
 - Mining apps for your phone or tablet that claim to mine bitcoin are almost certainly scams.
 - You CANNOT find software here to mine bitcoin with your PC by itself.
 - You MIGHT be able to do one of the above with altcoins, but such discussion goes into the altcoin mining section.
 - You CANNOT find or post software here to mine on other peoples' PC without their permission.

Next time you should start with reading more, really.
5142  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there an online version of a Bitcoin ATM? on: December 10, 2021, 07:53:22 AM
I was going through the links and this hit me...auch!!!!!!

Quote
The official wallet provider for Bitcoin is Blockchain.info

Woah. I was expecting them be a tad more professional...

They don't have fixed fees, they hide them behind the exchange rate.
So if you want to buy:
150$ you get 1 BTC ~ 52083.33 USD , while right now the price is $ 47563.

There was a topic not long ago comparing OTC services with actual exchanges and the result was clear: this kind of service is OK only for small amounts of money, since exchanges have quite expensive withdrawal fees. I guess that various services have various fees and requirements too. Clearly it's not cheap. OP mentioned ATM and those aren't cheap either. Having them hidden in the exchange rate, on one hand, can at least mean that they're all in one place and it's easier to calculate (the loss/premium caused by the fees).
5143  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there an online version of a Bitcoin ATM? on: December 09, 2021, 08:43:17 PM
What I mean by this is that with a Bitcoin ATM you simply pay fiat and receive Bitcoin into your own address directly.

Maybe what you are searching for is Changelly.
I didn't use their services, I don't know their fees, but they are selling BTC for debit card or bank transfer, for example: https://support.changelly.com/en/support/solutions/articles/14000094026-how-to-buy-my-first-bitcoin-
From what I see, their second step is asking for your bitcoin wallet: https://payments.changelly.com/
5144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Hash rate returned to its All-time high on: December 09, 2021, 06:23:14 PM
I don't know about the price if it becomes an uptrend but since the hashrate is increasing more supply is coming.

If I understood it right, you seem to be expecting miners receive more bitcoin because of the hash rate increase.
While there will be an ~8% increase caused by the faster blocks, that will last only 2 more days, until the next difficulty adjustment.
So overall medium - long term effect on the price should be upwards.

If I've done similar math as you did, the downwards trend should be there only on short/very short term (and I would not be certain about that either, since we already had the drop).
5145  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Telefoane crypto on: December 09, 2021, 06:14:35 PM

5146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it legal to do BitcoinTalk Accounts - Buy Sell Trade ? on: December 09, 2021, 02:11:42 PM
Selling Bitcointalk accounts should be prohibited.Even I don't know why people are trying to buy Bitcointalk accounts from scammer.
Because now its very easy to rank up any account by posting useful and by helping others.
Don't go for trading Bitcointalk accounts at all.

Prohibiting account sales won't stop that. One would just use a different platform for selling the same accounts. And then why invest time and energy in prohibiting/banning that?
I find the current state of things just fine: allowed, but discouraged.
5147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 - what is your bet? on: December 09, 2021, 01:09:44 PM
I really wonder if Russell is a material for a champion. We know that in Williams he had somehow "lost years" and there is a possibility that un Mercedes he will show what he can do. There must be a reason why they invested in him. BUT - many may depends on his role. Bottas was just a shadow for a Hamilton, "the great champion", is Russell going to be shadow as well? I do not know. Maybe depends if he is going to be a team mate of champion or not.

There are too many things unknown. It depends how good next year's car will be, especially since the care will be different starting next year. It depends whether Lewis will "make room" for George and how long until Lewis will retire. It's way too hard to say anything for now.
It was interesting how Mercedes managed to fuck up badly the race George could have been winning. Or maybe it was intentional so a tiny number of people don't see how much better their car was compared to the others'?
5148  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Ledger Card Honeypot on: December 09, 2021, 11:44:14 AM
Is this a perfect honeypot or what?

Not necessarily. There are quite a number of working crypto card businesses, so basically Ledger has missed the start by a great margin.
At this point it will depend greatly on convenience and fees. Then we can see if it can become a honeypot or just another business attempt made by Ledger to earn more money (more or less similar with them selling Cryptosteel products).
5149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 - what is your bet? on: December 09, 2021, 10:18:40 AM
Actually with the changes expected for next year, I feel like the other teams and the younger drivers will start claiming more and more wins and the Hamilton vs Verstappen era will end. So this may be one of the few chances left for Max.
Max Verstappen is only 24 years old.  So if something extraordinary does not happen, then his era could continue for more than one year.  It seems to me that Lewis is gradually leaving the stage, and he is 10 years older than Max.  The reaction is not what it was before.  This is an objective aging process, there is no getting away from it.

Max will not leave, indeed; I didn't say he would. But Lando, Carlos, George are just a few of those who, if the car performances will become closer to each other, will make it super hard for Max to stay on top.
I find Max rather unlucky to be ... somewhere between the relevant generations. Of course, I can easily be wrong too...
Asa rau imi pare ca n-am prins loc in Setul 1... I snoozed and I "loozed" (ca sa rimeze).

Hihi!

Dap, e o idee foarte buna. Asa voi face.

5152  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [Taproot] Taproot is live on Trezor! 🥕 on: December 09, 2021, 09:05:50 AM
Something is wrong with that link that you shared in OP. Clicking on it doesn't take me to the article and I have tried it with multiple browsers. Maybe because it's not "https://". Anyways, try to replace it with this one which works > https://blog.trezor.io/trezor-suite-and-firmware-updates-december-2021-d1e74c3ea283.

It's because of the extra www in OP's link. If one removes the www part and leaves it as blog.trezor.io, like you've also posted the link, it works.

It may worth mentioning that there's also already another topic centralizing the wallets that have implemented Taproot: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5371499.0

On one hand I agree with mk4's "wen new forum software?"
On another hand I am afraid that if it comes, I may not like it this much.

Still, the world has changed a lot since this forum software was made, many people would like to use it more from mobile devices, and I hope that we can agree that the current forum software is unfriendly at best (and whoever doesn't agree, I invite him answer from mobile to a post with nested quotes).

So, sorry, but I don't agree with OP.
5154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 - what is your bet? on: December 09, 2021, 08:41:54 AM
As I said in another F1 thread, I am disgusted by both, I no longer care which of the two wins.

Now, this is the first year RedBull had a car close enough to Mercedes' performance. Their car was even better than Mercedes for a while.
But the latest change - in Sao Paulo - made by Mercedes was unexpectedly powerful. Now their car is again significantly faster than the RedBull.
Some tell stories about the more talented pilot and mind games. No. One can be 10 times more talented than the rest; if the car is just a tad slower he doesn't stand a chance.

So the first chance goes to Lewis, and he may win unless Mercedes' overconfidence makes them do mistakes or RBR and Max do something greatly unexpected.

I am not sure if Max is ready to be a champion (as a person). Definitely I think he will be Number One in the future, but probably not this year.

Actually with the changes expected for next year, I feel like the other teams and the younger drivers will start claiming more and more wins and the Hamilton vs Verstappen era will end. So this may be one of the few chances left for Max.
5155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whats wrong with btc on: December 08, 2021, 07:29:41 PM
Bitcoin is speculative asset and market movement indicator and it should do what it should.
If it dont get the job done its not needed.
Simple way i say it.

Actually bitcoin doesn't have to do anything.
And the white paper didn't tell anything about speculative asset. Are you sure you've read it?

The fact you expect something from it... that's basically your problem.
5156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whats wrong with btc on: December 08, 2021, 07:20:46 PM
4h ago you made a thread basically complaining about the price fluctuations. Now you are complaining that the price doesn't move much...

You can learn patience and enjoy the ride or you can... basically do this:

5157  Local / Română (Romanian) / Re: Declarare bani on: December 08, 2021, 04:02:51 PM
Pai cum calculeaza ei ca ai iesit in castig in acest caz? Care e castigul? Unul... numeric?

5158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HELP: Hacked Wallet on: December 08, 2021, 03:52:08 PM
NeuroticFish, if you would take the time to read the previous comments, it is stated that a hardware wallet could not be used with the sites I was on and the processes I was doing. For example, to set up/purchase STRONGBLOCK NODES, you MUST use a Metamask Wallet. This is why the MM wallet was introduced into the process of me purchasing nodes and as well as attempting to stake coins on Wonderland.

Well, this calls then for a complete new wallet, unrelated to the HW. But now you know that, I guess.

And again, please refrain from your condescending comments to me and others that make this mistake. The loss of the money is hard enough. If you can't exercise any more self control than that, please don't even comment.

I'm sorry for your loss. But actually that's why I am so angry and harsh too. You can skip the harsh part and just take note of the useful part. Most probably you'll find that you know most of those things, but.. let's make sure you do... I mean that the mistake you've done is the result of missing some steps in understanding the hardware wallets and I don't know which one.
As said, you cannot do much more than learn all you can from the expensive lesson. From your last post I am sure you'll be more careful in the future, so yeah, whenever you're not sure, ask.
5159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Situation with btc and usecase lets think now on: December 08, 2021, 03:25:17 PM
And can fall down even further so the person who i transfered btc are in loss ?

It depends on what the seller chooses to do.
He can keep the bitcoin, hence taking the risk. Bitcoin may be 60k today, 40k tomorrow and 100k one week later. At this point, because of the nature of bitcoin, the seller kinda becomes investor.
But he can also simply sell the bitcoin for fiat or stable coin. And then he didn't lose (nor gained) anything (keep in mind that for Visa/Mastercard processing the seller/shop has to pay a fee, hence it may still not be unprofitable to accept bitcoin)

Also it's expected that at some point in the future the price volatility will decrease greatly (the price will be more stable).
5160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: HELP: Hacked Wallet on: December 08, 2021, 03:15:56 PM
When I downloaded the Metamask Chrome extension it asked me for my seed phrase. Since I'd never downloaded it on my computer before, I figured it was legitimate and that it was trying to authenticate my account. I really think this is where I messed up.

OMG... if you give the seed to any legitimate-looking request, what you think is the use of the hardware wallet, really?!

OK, so since your wallet is now empty, please start with resetting the wallet to a completely new seed, write that down for backup and ever use it again only when your hardware wallet will ever stop working.
Keep the new seed safe (offline!) and remove the old seed from all the places you've stored it (so you don't get confused in 5 years which one was the correct seed).

And from now on, anything you want to do with crypto, do through the hardware wallet. If Metamask cannot handle the hardware wallet, use MEW with the hardware wallet.

And, sorry if it sounds harsh, but learn to ask here when you are not sure before doing something stupid, not after doing that.

My apologies, I didn't know that multiple posts were not allowed. I was simply trying to respond to some of the users that commented.

You can answer to one post, press enter twice for some spacing, scroll down, insert the next quote and answer to the next user.
The problem is not the number of answers, it's the fact they're spread into many consecutive posts.
