5141  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Exaggerating portfolio returns on: October 16, 2019, 02:30:42 PM
130% over 3 months id say is fairly normal for day trading.

You could list the potential some of your trades would have had if you'd used leverage.

If you suggest that you've set a long at 430 with an sl of 400 and tp of 500 for example, why wouldn't you have used 2x leverage if it were avaliable?

Most traders suggest their raw figures and then add a figure at the end to show what they could've done by using leverage.

5143  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I cant access ti my acompt on: October 16, 2019, 06:35:50 AM

There's no other "belchem" user aside from that newbie account either.
But in BPIP (https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=Belchem), it said below that you had 52 posts but not deleted by mods.

Better move this in Meta and ask the mods what happened.

I don't think data is saved for user deleted posts.

You could go to bitcointalk.org/?action=drafts to see if you can recover any but you'll probably just have to start posting again and strengthen your password/ensure you're using https (check for the padlock logo) when you access the forum.
5144  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: October 15, 2019, 05:10:10 PM
Both sites are now up and running (as far as I can tell).
5145  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: bitcoin mining tax breaks on: October 14, 2019, 03:06:43 PM
Likensteamtyme said, it depends a lot on where you are and as to what you can write off. You might be able to get a vat exception on mining equipment in certain places too...

In addition to what ateamtyme said also, it's probably best to try to pay for electricity on a daily/weekly basis just in case there are huge fluctuations in the currency you're mining. You can either hold profits in the currency or hold it in fiat (converting daily/weekly) but make sure you're prepared for bills if there's a huge dip...
5146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [OCT 2019] Fees are low, use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: October 14, 2019, 02:47:42 PM
I sent a 2 Sat per byte transaction a couple of days ago that seemed to confirm in the next block!

Fees are definitely very favourable atm... Don't miss your opportunity to consolidate.
5147  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: The next release of Electrum will support Lightning payments on: October 14, 2019, 02:44:26 PM
I think they've been working on trying to support the lightning network for at least half a year so it's great to see they've got something going there!

Does it need the server to run (have you checked the merged source yet) or will they host the nodes from the electrum client software?
5148  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Transaction time of Bitcoin on: October 10, 2019, 11:48:04 AM
Anything is changeable with bitcoin provided the miners vote on it and reach a consensus.

Altcoins are often used to solve this problem as they're a lot cheaper to send or you can use the lightning: networkhttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_Network

Transactions then confirm within a second (or it gets dropped).
5149  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: New IRS 'guidance' on: October 09, 2019, 07:54:32 PM
Aren't dividends handled differently in the US also? (a hf has to come under dividends doesnt it)?

And yeah the UK one makes a lot more sense, report it once you've sold it and won't buyback again...

The term "fair" does seem a bit obscure though. Probably to protect against forks like bcg that started off being worth 0.
5150  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchange coin 'pooling' on: October 09, 2019, 04:12:27 PM
Local bitcoins gives you the users name. Whether this is their name or not, they've verified it somehow and it's not exactly your problem. (unless you're the one that did the kyc).
5151  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk.org collectible coin ideas & vote on: October 08, 2019, 10:40:35 PM

And if anyone wants to make this project reality don't hesitate to get in contact with me. I've already contacted the main 3 manufacturers listed on this thread, but have also asked for some help off the more prominent users in the collectible section to suggest alternatives. I'm not expecting a reply from a few of them due to inactivity, and not all of them if any will be interested in making custom coins. I'm really hoping I find someone on the forum to do this rather than an external manufacturer, and it seems the votes agree with that view.

Denarium might be a good person to contact. They seem pretty active and the have a contact link on their site (I'm happy to do this if you don't want to).

Funded coins are definitely better than ones that aren't and a supply of 300 to 1000 is probably best also.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I was thinking that a bitcointalk plaque could be made (at an expense of say $200) out of brass or pewter and given to a user for a certain number of merits (like the YouTube plaques) when we more commonly see people with 10000 merit it would be quite a nice way to go I think.

5152  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Asset diversification for wealth protection. on: October 08, 2019, 06:27:25 PM

These are the large farming holdings eating you alive in 3..2...1...

The only way farming will yield highly is if you use it to grow your own crops and the land was cheap to start with.

You're at least not spending money on food so you can save a bit. If the land is fertile enough you shoul be able to keep the land working via rotations of the 4 crop groups.

Planting trees and carefully pruning them will also yield quite well. Although milling grains here seems to produce a much higher profit than actually growing them afaik.

I'm looking at investing into second world country economies at the moment if anyone has any advice on that, they should be much more growing than the first world markets and I plan on leaving my investments for many years...
5153  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Exchange coin 'pooling' on: October 07, 2019, 08:57:22 PM
For most if not all exchanges.

1. You get a personal deposit address
2. Anything sent to this address is then transferred to offline keys for the exchange.

When you want to wirhdraw:

They have an address loaded with a certain amount of coins, can be anywhere from a few btc to a few hundred. This is what you receive so its pooled inputs from everyone else who deposited previously. Exchanges don't expect you to pull out the same as what you put in also and the amount you get out will be below your wallet balance as they'll take up to 0.001 in fees (unleas it's coinbase who I'm told don't take a fee).
5154  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is there a problem caused by Brexit? on: October 07, 2019, 06:46:37 PM
You didn't try deposit via coinbase did you? And you did it via sending a bank transfer?

The only thing I can think of is that you exceeded your maximum daily limit. If your bank don't allow deposits, move... You can switch in 7 days here and everything should be switched across with the switch guarentee...

The other banks can't pull out from serving someone they don't know. I deposited by card recently and everything went smoothly

I can't tell you how to divide funds, but instead of trying to take special care of the sizes,
i think ure talking about  donateing etc. , but i just asked how much funds has to be left on chipmixer that the amount are not predictable

I thought you were both talking about the split function on chipmixer... Donation works as well though but say you deposit 1.024BTC and you split it down to 8x0.128 chiips and went to withdraw them for 8 months (as an example) withdrawing one chip a month after redeeming it's voucher code then that'll do better for increasing your privacy that splitting into 2 0.512 chips and withdrawing immediately. However, don't go over the top with it and 0.128 might be doing that (and don't withdraw them all to the same address either).

(changing the sizes of the chips you redeem will be better for privacy too rather than redeeming a load of chips of one size)
5156  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is there such a thing as a 2 of 3 phone wallet. (or any x of y for mobile) on: October 05, 2019, 06:03:19 PM
You can also do with this Electrum.

You can only do this with android as there isn't an ios version of electrum but it works pretty well.

I used to do a 2 of 3 multisig with my laptop and phone (laptop had xprv1,xprv2,xpub3 and phone had xpub1,xprv2,xprv3) and it worked pretty well (I did it that way because I had a usb stick with xprv1,xpub2,xprv3 just in case that was made using a separate computer/os). You just generate the transaction on one device and scan it from the others once it's been signed by that device.
5157  Other / Meta / Re: My messages is stuck on [1] on: October 05, 2019, 05:58:24 PM
It was the "my messages [1]" thing.

Theymos sent me a pm later that day and something had been fixed (I'd previously deleted cache and everything that wasn't bookmarks, history or cookies).

I can't really switch browsers as there's already a lot of compatibility issues with firefox compared with chrome, maybe I'll use brave at some point but for now I'm happy with firefox still.
5158  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is there a problem caused by Brexit? on: October 04, 2019, 08:54:02 PM
Do you get an email when it's refereed? If so and the email is from coinbase it was reversed by them... You're better off contacting their support if so.
5159  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: October 04, 2019, 04:19:01 PM
Yeah it's still not working. I'm on a hauwei p20 pro with android version 8.1.0.
5160  Other / Meta / My messages is stuck on [1] on: October 04, 2019, 02:47:46 PM
I tried deleting browser cache, I don't really want to delete anything else and I'm on Firefox for android.

It's doing the same on chrome too, is this one of the many smf bugs?
