Altcoins is a short term investment. It may goes up its price but its not long term. When it goes up, after that the price will go down and will never be go up again. While bitcoin is a long term investment. When the price or value goes down, it may be goes up again not as the same of altcoins. That is my observation of the difference between altcoin and bitcoin.
I don't agree. See Ethereum, Dash and Monero. Prices are rise in long term. I thing there are many altcoins with more benefits than bitcoin. What distinguish bitcoin from others is just its popularity as it's the first cryptocurrency. Most of the people when know bitcoin at first and then know other coins.
