5161  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW / Josh Garza discussion. Paycoin XPY CoinStand Mineral. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: May 08, 2015, 08:43:57 AM
The best option anyone dealing or not dealing with Paycoin is completely distance themselves from Homero Josh Garza and anything he s been involved in. I mean anything, forums, companies, anything. Until this guy s locked down.

Anyone know if there are going to be any more ANT s5 PACMIC?

Or if there will be any ant s6 PACMIC when those units start shipping?

More interested if there will be any more ant 5 PACMIC for now as I imagine the s6 is end of summer...

I see no reason why not. These contracts are immensely profitable for them. As soon as they pay you out, they have the miner for them.

I've purchased the smallest pack from cryptsy's new cloudmining service. What's unique about it is that it lets you allocate your hashing power from contracts up to 5 pools per contract worker and you can even point hashrate at external pools.

To be honest, the hash pointed at outside pools is extremely unstable but I'm impressed just by the fact that this system works. For now, I'm only mining in mintsy's pool and waiting from a response from their support.

The hash rate displayed at the website isn't all that stable either but it's not unrealistically low either, if pointing has at external pools worked better I'd be perfectly satisfied.

What about the price? Last time I checked, ROI was almost impossible. Has that changed?

17 USD with a coupon (MINEMINTSY) I used for 100 Gh/s. With the recent offer the hash rate (supposedly) receives a 150% bonus but it's pretty unstable at the moment. I think that mintsy has been around for quite some time, yet the website is still incomplete. The FAQ page just says 'COMING SOON' right now. I'm confident that things will improve a lot since this is just getting started though.

Wait, $1.7 per 10 GHS? That s pretty competitive. What about fees and the period of the contract?
5164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [TEK] TEKcoin Hi-PoS hybrid pos/pow no premine/ipo/ico on: May 08, 2015, 06:25:34 AM
I used to have just one block, but thought I saw somewhere that it was better to break them up , so now I have 25 blocks of 5k but if it is better to just stake every other month, I don't see any advantage to staking everyday like I do with NET

Every other month?

But if you have a block which is 60 days old, don't you lose the coins which you would get if you would stake at 30 days?

For example, you have 1000 TEK, after 30 days you stake at 10% and you get 1100 coins to stake the next month.

If you stake every other month, in 60 days you ll still have that original 1000 TEK block to stake.

I invest in BTCJam but it's very low paying, it depends on the listing.

...and very risky. Loans without collateral are a very dangerous stuff.
5166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is PoS the future of Bitcoin mining? on: May 08, 2015, 03:50:54 AM
I hear constantly about how miners would not agree to fork and introduce PoS. What miners? If we continue this road, in 2 years we ll have 4-5 big farms in the world mining 95% of BTC while the rest ll be cover while hobbyists who mine at a loss, simply for the sake of good old times.

We try to avoid centralization but without any serious improvement, we are heading towards it.

Even if there will be 4-5 big farms, I doubt that it will be own by 1 single person , perhaps it could be a joint of several companies or people so it is not truly a centralization. Obviously switching into POS is not helping at all because it might destroy the value of bitcoin . There is some improvement but alot is disagree with it like the 20mb block fork

Having BTC rely on 4-5 big farms is much more dangerous then BTC fork. Remember Amhash? I do not see any other way we can maintain decentralization in the future.
5167  Economy / Securities / Re: Anything sustainable worth of investing? on: May 08, 2015, 03:47:39 AM
It is very difficult to find good place to invest bitcoins online...Maybe bitcoin casinos, like just-dice,satoshi-dice,diggit.io...Maybe buying domain names for bitcoins, and then flipping them?

Buying domains for BTC s not really BTC investment. You just use BTC to do so.

Your re wrong, there are several profitable BTC ventures.

Just for your information: I have modelled the payouts and income from Bitcoin Cloud Services. They are now probably paying out more BTC to their users than they receive as income from new users. For the period from Apr 23 to May 5 they probably lost approx. 25 BTC each day.

Draw your own conclusions...

What if they had got 25+BTC before April 23?

I used my model to calculate that as well. In the past they made (huge) profits. This is the first time they are losing Bitcoin for a period of time.

It is very likely that Bitcoin Cloud Mining is a Ponzi scheme. As such they will probably not want to run on a loss for a long period of time. If they continue to lose money, I would expect them to shut down the operation in the next couple of weeks.

Heh. We ll see how good are your forecasts. For the sake of people who invested there, I home your are wrong.

They lost 60-70 BTC/day in the last two days. Thus, they might try to make a new offer to boost their sales one last time. After that the Ponzi will collapse. Unfortunately, there is no hope in this case.

I made some investigations and came to the same conclusion like wintermute. look here: http://imgur.com/vloNN4K

And Wintermute is right about the last try to boost their income. They offer "ONLY THIS WEEK" 2 years contracts for the price of 1 year - look here: https://www.bitcoincloudservices.com/

Let us see how good are you two in doom forecasting. According to you, Bitcoincloudservices dies in about 2 weeks, right?

One of these days I might actually sign up for Scrypt.cc lol. Wonder how long it'll take them to turn into a ponzi when I do so. Just my streak of bad luck with cloud mining I guess Wink

Haha, I can feel you inner struggle. Smiley))

Over a year online and paying on time every single day.

what about instead of pure pos, a hybrid like pow/pos? It is still not free from problems but, at least it won't take the whole mining activity out of the question

Yes, that is what I had in mind. Keeping PoW and adding PoS.

I'm kinda newbie, so really need a quick answer, cex.io is legit or not?

Trading and buying BTC, yes they re legit. They do not offer cloud mining anymore.

Not quite. They still offer cloud mining but it's suspended by default (due to no profitability). Afaik you can still unlock it and mine at loss if, for whatever reason, you wanted to.

On other subject, mintsy.co is in beta (pre-enrolled users only though), I wonder how would they score.

Minsty.co is the most expensive cloud mining I ve seen so far. There s no way anyone can ROI on that ATM.

Hashnest is a nice choice, Bit-x s a bit pricier but still a nice alternative. Another option is to switch to poof of stake coins, it s similar to mining but no cloud operations needed, no electricity costs. My favorite proof of stake coin is DMD Diamond, 50% annual interest.
5175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: i got a strange payment today, i dunno what from. on: May 07, 2015, 05:06:26 AM
New form of marketing. They send you dust and they you go and search for the source of that dust. Very cheap and effective.
5176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is PoS the future of Bitcoin mining? on: May 07, 2015, 04:51:30 AM
uhhhh.....no.

There are several reasons why this would be problematic
and I don't think that would solve the blockchain size
issue anyway.

I m not trying to solve the issue. These are two separate issues. I m trying to discuss a way how BTC can evolve in the future. I remember Charles Lee saying LTC does not need any gimmicks and it s fine as it is. IT IS NOT, look at the price now. These fancy gimmick attract people and increase profitability. IMO, BTC needs to bring in new stuff in the future, look at the banks and other money transmitters, they introduce new offers constantly. In order to remain profitable and interesting for new users, the product needs to improve and innovate, constantly.

We have not had anything new since day 1.

I do not want to see BTC becoming number 2, ever. Having largest acceptance s not going to work forever.
5177  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Top Cloud Miners Compared by Profitability on: May 07, 2015, 04:33:04 AM
Could you explain the returns numbers for HashNest PACMIC. Their website estimates 22% APR return. Your chart says that it's more like 1% daily. That's a huge difference. What accounts for this discrepancy?

PACMiC pays 1.056% daily.  It continues to pay 1.056% daily until you reach an estimated 105.6% of your original investment at which point the contract is closed.

If you choose to activate the "auto buy" function, as long a new PACMiC contracts are available, your contract value will increase by 1.056% daily.

My original PACMiC is currently worth 1.52810084 BTC, so if I turn off "auto buy" today, I will be paid 1.056% daily until I reach an estimated 105.6% of 1.52810084 BTC ending the contract with an estimated gross payout of 1.61367448704 BTC.

Unfortunately, these re out of stock. How often do they come in stock?

The last time they ran out, it took about a week for them to generate new contracts.

Do you have any idea how are they able to provide this profitability? In essence, this is mining without fees?
5178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is PoS the future of Bitcoin mining? on: May 07, 2015, 04:25:00 AM
Hey there guys,

I see a lot of people and BTC devs talk about the size of BTC blockchain as one of the main issues to be solved in the future. What about adding PoS to BTC so it becomes both PoW and PoS coin?

Since mining difficulty is going to go up more and more, only large miners with access to cheap electricity and a lot of capital will stay in the game.

With PoS, even small miners would be able to stay in the game and benefit from holding BTC. I agree, holding BTC does not help crypto adoption and does not bring new retailers but it might bring back profitability into the game which is one of the main reasons people would accept and invest into Bitcoin.

I m not talking about high PoS, something moderate 3% a year, max.

I ve personally invested into a lot of PoW and PoS coins, DMD Diamond is my favorite, and I would like to see BTC getting some shiny new traits as well. After all, in tech world, it is all about constant innovation.

Truth that patience.. I bought .02 BTC of TEK a few months back just sold em for .2 BTC! And I still have a couple thousand invested  Grin Grin Grin

Wish I would've bought more.. lol..

I started with 4000 TEK last year now they are over 100k TEK I couldn't be happier. Well i could if the stake goes back to 40%.

The price just went up 100% compared to about a month ago. Nice.  Grin

PoS does seem to go to about 10% now.

Our company has a long term vision for Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and building profitable & sustainable services on top of them. This is the core idea behind our company. A "complete ecosystem" approach.

Lots of projects are attempts at get-rich-quick, we are not one of those. We have steady revenue growth for 3 years now.

More information can be found from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=999928.0

Details pls. How does your payouts system works, I suppose dividends. How often, based on what, pls give us a short overview.

Thx
