5161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: mobo issues on: March 03, 2019, 04:24:59 AM
My solution was to upgrade to Jan bios in spite of warnings from the flashing software. YMMV
I've been seeing warnings from flashing BIOS updates and it's pretty normal especially if the current version is too outdated from the new.
That's why sometimes it's recommended to flash few upper versions at a time if the MoBo's BIOS was too old or the stock.

BTW, piggyback posting in an old thread is bad but... Congratulations on solving your own problem Cheesy
5162  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Are we ready to change the world? Chain'o'cracy on: March 03, 2019, 04:01:16 AM
So the citizens acquire their account via their encrypted data (names or Govt IDs) and stored in a centralized database controlled by the Government (I assume that it's displayed in public).
But that centralization alone defeats the idea of a decentralized voting system.

One idea is simply issue a private key and address pair to each citizen like an ID (which can be used for something else- on other "chains" aside from voting).
In "voting chain(s)" (each positions- Pres, VP, Senators, etc) the issued balance per chain can't be sent to other accounts (addresses) but only to the specific persons (the nominees); otherwise, the tx will be invalid.

That's just a simple thought process but I hope that you get the idea.
5163  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Do not use Coinbase on: March 02, 2019, 03:59:54 AM
I do not understand this: " Do not use Coinbase "

no offense, but this gets to be funny. Most people make KYC in exchanges where the owners of the exchanges are anonymous people, so now they are complaining about coinbase? why the hell people do not complain about the exchanges that the owners are anonymous and ask their customers to make KYC?
That's what I (kinda) said in this related thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5115442.0

People can tolerate KYC and entrust their funds to a centralized service that obviously shares their data to Gov'ts but become ultra sensitive on such recent actions.
Don't know if this "#DELETECOINBASE" thing is an organized slandering move by a group or real users protesting.

By the way, I'm not using Coinbase, ever.
5164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: GEOCACHE AFRICA 2018 UPDATE: Cache found!!!!!! on: March 02, 2019, 03:32:00 AM
I'm pretty sure that whoever found the cache will not share his story for privacy reasons.
Or by "other" means:

Cropped image from post#2:

I got a hunch that it was never found but the fund was moved because the private key is (barely) visible in the 2nd post's image (It is surprisingly high resolution in full size).
By looking at the original image, anyone (with 20/20 vision) can guess the possible characters of the private key (just like the "5" first character).
It will take time using manual trial and error and it does took over a year before the fund was spent.
5165  Economy / Exchanges / Re: #DeleteCoinbase - what is going on with Coinbase? on: March 02, 2019, 03:03:49 AM
-snip- On another hand yeah, it's pretty anonymous if you won't directly enter here with lights on your face and won't pay directly from your main wallet.
Uhm... AFAIK, ATM's CCTV cameras can see in the dark using infrared sensors (which why CCTV videos at night were black&whites).

Why is this an issue to them?
It's a centralized service which should abide by the law and protect its security, they are doing it for years and didn't even thought about the fact that it's been relatively the same all along, just acquired/partnered with something that will do their usual job independently.

People just need to learn that services that requires KYC/AML will always be informed about their crypto income and expenses that passed on it.
There are more option to buy and sell cryptos, coinbase is just one of them (just use it for "moderate" Buy or Sell).
5166  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Address to wallet matching. on: March 01, 2019, 03:41:24 AM
If i send bitcoins from my blockchain wallet to my coinbase wallet, is it possible to know that the coins came from a coinbase wallet by the bitcoin address?
Yes of course, I'm sure you've heard this before: "Bitcoin's transaction aren't anonymous but rather pseudo-anonymous[/i]."

Coinbase is a centralized wallet and exchange and can be easily analyzed using any blockchain analysis tool since they "consolidate" most of the inputs using multiple and different (deposit) addresses, using addresses' inputs together will link them to the same wallet used by any one of those addresses.
Although using that tool (link above) is as easy as checking a transaction/address in a blockexplorer, a normal internet guy might find it hard but not the authorities with sophisticated tools and agents, they can always find a way.

And in addition, your KYC data is always available for the Gov't and Coinbase to see and every deposit address you've generated will be marked as "yours".

Next time, post questions like this in the Bitcoin Technical Support board in order to get more accurate answers.
5167  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Help to Recover Blockchain.info Wallet on: March 01, 2019, 03:13:40 AM
-snip- OP
Is this data or file format like .json file? looks like old blockchain backup wallet can login directly with wallet from https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/import-wallet, but you still need password.
The only thing that appear in my mind is you must to brute force it, but its almost impossible to brute force it.
If it's a blockchain wallet I'm sure they don't have a .json file when you are creating account in blockchain.
Yes there is, the file's name is: wallet.aes.json (encrypted) or wallet.json (unencrypted) and if you opened it using any text editor, you'll see that "payload".
In OP's case based on the written contents of the file, it was encrypted thus...

@simonhiller You should know the passphrase in order to recover it.
5168  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I sent bitcoins to my Electrum Wallet and there is nothing. on: March 01, 2019, 02:40:51 AM
One more thing, i went into Blockchain Explorer to see if the transaction was fine, and i found that there are 2 different wallets with the same Code ( one for BTC and one for BCH)-- https://gyazo.com/6bd7dc649880d149b1784e53a719c27a

I clicked on the BCH one and there is nothing, and when I click on the BTC one, there are my bitcoins.
That's normal since both chains' "1" addresses are interchangeable (off-topic).
Based from the screenshot, the wallet address' balance seems "unspent" and indicates that you're quite safe since a fake Electrum's balance will be sent out within seconds after receiving any amount.

So everything looks fine but the btc's aren't still in my wallet : https://gyazo.com/027b6195f0d40be67843eea0003d047c  :   https://gyazo.com/c41e4b69aaf3b45fced5cd54b5bfdba7.
Could be one of these reasons:
  • Check if the wallet is connected to a server by looking at the lower right circle: red=Disconnected/Green=Connected
  • If the wallet is new, let it stay opened to download the block_header file in the background.
  • Click "View" then select "Show Addresses", an Addresses Tab should appear, click it and check if that address in the screenshot is there
5169  Economy / Economics / Re: Is anybody tracking lost bitcoins? on: March 01, 2019, 02:18:49 AM
-snip-
Was reallly shocked, but did not understand how that disappeared. No transaction was seen. This was the lost. Around $100 was hacked. from then on, i am bit safe activating 2FA authentication
Wait, what? What client was it?
If there's no transaction listed in the history or from blockexplorers when you entered your address(es), there's a chance that you're not hacked. Could be another wallet file or something else.

Even today, you can double check if you're really hacked or not by checking that particular wallet's addresses in any blockexplorer website,
try it.
5170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a site showing price of crypto compared to btc/$ value at specific day? on: February 28, 2019, 07:06:15 AM
For all the explanation you've provided to clarify the question, it is still as confusing as the OP.
But I can say that there's no such tool and if there's any, it will be unnecessary. Just select the correct pairs.

If you do not want to see a graph of Ethereum:USD without being "tainted" by Bitcoin's price,
do not select USD:BTC pair, instead select USD:ETH pair; do the same to USD:BTC.

Now, If you wanted to compare the two graphs,
Take a screenshot of the two graphs, edit the images and lower the transparency to about 50%, and place one on top of the other graph;
that way, you'll be able to see both USD equivalent prices (Although, you can just look at the separate charts).
5171  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [Unofficial] Coinpot.co - new microwallet on: February 28, 2019, 03:51:03 AM
-sniped long post- ALSO I WILL NOT BE SURPRISE IF SUDDENLY THE SITE WILL BE DOWN, AND YOU ALL GONNA LOST BITCOINS, LITECOINS, DOGECOINS,CASH AND DASH.
Nothing really surprising here, ad-revenue type faucets usually come and go in exception to those that have a scalable features.
But Coinpot falls to that category though, the bad thing is: they are allowing ads which are 90% Ponzi scam "generators", cloud mining and investments that will surely become an issue in the future; and the rest, the usual referral codes.

Personally, I never had any problem with the site in terms of Login, withdrawal and email support since I rarely visit the site and if ever, just checking on my referral revenue.

As for the Secret key, it was given by (or requested from) the Authenticator, not by Coinpot.
If it was Google Authenticator read this: Backup Codes, then this: Using a new phone to receive 2-Step Verification codes.
5172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Cryptocurrency cold storage wallets retrieveable after computer hard drive corru on: February 28, 2019, 02:38:23 AM
You still haven't told us what coin was it, you've mentioned that it was being delisted by Cryptopia so I assume that it isn't Bitcoin.
Before the hardware technicalities; if the wallet happen to have a backup method like Seed, Recovery phrase and others use it to recover the coins.

-snip- Using the device, his laptop recognized my hard drive but said corrupted drive unable to read.
That means that your HDD's PCB board is still intact (that isn't too important though); Could be the read/write pin, mechanical (spinning & control) parts which when replaced, your data will be safely recovered at the same cost of the coins  Undecided.
If it is the "Disk" itself (HDD Platter), chances are slim.

Suggestion: Forget it (for now) Recover or not, you'll likely spend more dollars than the dollar equivalent of the coins.
[Just keep the HDD safe in case the particular coin's price increased exponentially]

Also, i suggest you try moving the topic to Scam Accusations Board with all the details of your chats to get much better guidance there.
Don't you think that Scam Accusations board is a bit much for a non-answered support email?
This belongs to Service Discussion. (I just requested to move this topic)

@johnsix12 Coinpot doesn't have an official account or thread here in the forum, they have an "[Unofficial] Coinpot.co - new microwallet" thread though.
Try to post there to see if there's a Coinpot employee roaming here in the forum.

By the way, as I checked the improperly-used BBCodes in your post, I can tell that your Emails were not as "courteous" as you think and maybe that was the reason why Coinpot didn't reply.
Care to quote us a sample of your email?
5174  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Guide] Virustotal scan guideline to detect viruses, trojans, malwares, worms on: February 27, 2019, 04:00:15 AM
Checking a file directly from URL always results in "clean" results every time I tried.
However, after downloading the same file and using the "File" tab, some heuristics (especially, aggressive ones) may show positive results.

Thus, using the "URL" tab to download links directly may not be reliable, only for detecting if the website has bad/malicious scripts.
5175  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Using a BTC Mixing Service and Power Went Out on: February 27, 2019, 03:17:08 AM
Which specific Bitcoin Mixing service?
Most of the owners and developers have an account here on bitcointalk that you can contact.

Or post to their official threads, ex:

[Also, this should be moved to Service Discussion board.]
5176  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 2018 Crypto theft overview on: February 27, 2019, 03:04:29 AM
It was mentioned in the link it's 3.0.5 but the in the site the latest update is Latest release: Electrum-3.3.4 , so I should download the latest?
Yes, the latest or at least v3.3.3.
That link (Thread) was old and was there since the release of the vulnerable version, that's why the suggested version was outdated.

The latest release is 3.3.4 from electrum.org. Any other site (except Github.com/spesmilo/electrum) is fake as mentioned in the official site:
Do not download Electrum upgrades from any another source than electrum.org.
5177  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BTC Clicks dot com on: February 26, 2019, 03:17:53 PM
I'm 100% sure that the issue wasn't caused by the site's server, it's your browser or system/PC.
Capcha errors are not limited to that particular site, most errors and multiple capcha usually happen when you're claiming too often, keep on changing IP addresses (Like Tor/VPN) and connection speed issue.
Also, scan your PC because malwares and some viruses causes capcha errors too.

This belongs to the Service Discussion Board, don't worry a mod will move it for you or Move it yourself using the move button below (Lower-left corner).
5178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Need Help] Problem with 4+ RTX 2080 on: February 26, 2019, 04:05:11 AM
SPEC:
ASUS Zenith Extreme TR4
-snip-
[Windows 10]
*Newest drivers
4 cards seems to work (10 min test)
5 cards unstable (crash after few mins)

Maybe this note from the motherboard's specification can explain it:
1. The PCIE_X8/x4_4 slot shares bandwidth with U.2. In 4-Way configuration, if the PCIE_X8/x4_4 is used in x8 mode, U.2 port will be disabled.

Since it only has 4 PCI-e x16 slots, I assume that you've connected a riser to the PCI-e x8 slot.
Mining will surely use it in x8 mode and will disable the U.2 port which is used by your SSD (you haven't specified if you're using SSD though, do you?).

Non-working 4 Cards with Linux however is weird, that board was designed to work with 4 cards.
