5161  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Is it Ghash.io ? on: April 17, 2014, 09:23:34 PM
I see Eleuthria on the transactions, isn't that Slush or Slush's Pool?
5162  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: too late to start mining or what? on: April 17, 2014, 08:26:46 PM
im new and im thinking of buying a butterfly rig from a friend for about $1500

it does 500gh/s and my electricity costs $0.0

i used a calculator and i would break even within 4 months.

but then i read about difficulties. seeing how the difficulty goes up about 1 billion every 10 days (or about 3 billion+ a month), should i even consider it or what?

im no expert but from this http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ it says ill go from $16 a day (may) to $11 a day (june) to maybe $9 a day (july) to about $7 a day in july and $6 in august. and by then i wouldn't even have broken even

am i doing this wrong or is this rig too old

also = should i go for litecoins instead and get 'gridseed' that does 5200 kh/s and get like ~$10 a day to break even within 7 months or no

You can get 800 GH/s for roughly that amount, 4 new Antminer S1s.

Stay away from Butterfly Labs products if you can, they're a stain to the mining community.
5163  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What would you mine with free electricity? on: April 17, 2014, 08:17:58 PM
Either 3 of those new Gridseed Blades or 10 Antminers S1s, maybe 2 of those Coincraft A1 1TH/s clones if you can get it around $2500 each.

If Gridseed Scrypt coins, if Ants or A1 then Bitcoin or SHA-256 coins.

I don't think we can be at the halfway point of Bitcoin's life, he/she's only turned 5 years old recently:

Somehow I think ole Bitcoin is going to outlive each and everyone of us.
5166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: April 17, 2014, 06:24:33 PM

In contrast to mass conventional wisdom, I believe that owning a single bitcoin will rapidly become impossible for the average person in a developed country. Prices have been increasing on average 10x per year, and according to a logistic model of bitcoin adoption that I maintain, that astounding rate of increase will continue year by year until the half way point of adoption, at which the rate of increase rapidly diminishes.

You're on slippery slope buddy

wut abt this guys?

Why you gotta post this?  Now, we're definitely going to zero now.   Cry

Nah, I don't buy it!  All this means is cheap Bitcoins to buy.  BUY BUY BUY!
5167  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/GH/s, miners from $2.97/GH/s on: April 17, 2014, 06:21:01 PM
It sounds like the X3 Hashboard Sample IS the prototype you guys are asking about.  Otherwise, how would they be testing for performance?  Performance of what with no chips?  It's the prototype.

I think they will be late, but we're not looking at five weeks.  Probably an extra week or two.  Which, time is money and they should come clean and tell us what the real prediction is on shipping, but I'm not canceling an order over it.  Waiting to hear what the compensation changes are going to be when they ship.

Interesting...okay, I could wait another week.  Refund would probably take forever through Minersource since I'm Batch 2(December).

Well, at least they continue to post updates here, could be worse.   Sad

Just a friendly tip using your new Ant, check Coinwarz from time to time.

Sometimes Bitcoin isn't the most profitable coin at the moment.  If you see say one of the Alts hang around the top, switch to that Alt coin pool for like a day or 2, then trade your mined alt coins to BTC on Cryptsy.

Sometimes it's mentally good to see hundreds or thousands of coins come in, instead of seeing only 0.01 or 0.02 payment a day.

After you've had your alt coin pool fill, switch back to BTCGuild, Eligius, or whatever your regular pool is.  That's kind of why there's 3 pools showing in the Antminer Miner Configuration.  Not just for pool redundancy, but easy pool switching.

My 2 millibits

Well looks like today is news day! Im excited to see if we have some real progress to getting these miners out!

Yes, we can all chant in unison "Prototype!"  "Prototype!"

If we don't see the word "working prototype" in today's update, we can all chant "Refund!"  "Refund!"
5172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: French ASIC miner company ehsminer.com on: April 17, 2014, 12:55:58 PM
Hi ChuckBuck,

We would not sell our prototype because FPGA technology is expensive and it will not be profitable compared to ASIC.
We will convert the FPGA to ASIC which will enable us to have a great power of Hash and  low energy consumption .
Once we have validated the correct operation of the prototype and signed the contract with our ASIC partner we will open the preorders to fund our futur Asic Scrypt Miner.
Note that we will limit pre-orders to ensure a good quality of service to our customers and to support the network.

Vregards
The founder

Hi EHSminer,

Could you answer approximately once prototype is ready:

1)Price per MH\s
2)MH\s per Watt
3)Watts at the wall
4)Standalone or Rackmountable
5)dB noise level
6)average temperature

Thanks,

Chuck
5173  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Miners DUMPING their ASICs on: April 17, 2014, 04:46:18 AM
Still, no one has answered where they are dumping their ASICs?

I don't think there is a mass dump but some people have posted on here that they have sold, so where did you sell?

I want buy second hand (cheap) ASICs and I'm completely unimpressed with what I'm seeing on ebay.

So EHS, this first miner shipping in June of this year is a FPGA Scrypt miner that'll basically fund your future 28nm Asic Scrypt miner?

Well, at least you're only asking 40% deposit on the pre-order, instead of the full robbery!   Roll Eyes

Eager to see the developments with this one...

5178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: April 16, 2014, 10:14:11 PM
use this wealth wisely, my friends, and for social and political rather than personal gains

+1

You know, at one time this classic thread would be bumped by old hands as a way to sarcastically deflate the manic enthusiasm during a bubble run up. But now, when we are already past the once unsurpassable milestones of $100 and $1000, and can reasonably project $10000+ in 2015, the awe and wonder expressed by the OP are taken more seriously.

And this is a good thing.

It's been a fascinating few years.

I'm just glad to be a part of this "bubble".   Smiley

Has it been 5 years already?  I can't wait to see what happens in the next 5.
5179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is how I felt when I made a bitcoin payment (illustration) on: April 16, 2014, 10:11:55 PM
The bitcoin miner illustration is inaccurate.
When you're mining, you're actually commanding millions of your minions to mine 24/7 with no breaks.

This illustration is probably reflective of mining circa 2009, the CPU days.   Cool

Let me know if you would like to have this image as well :

Have fun

That's how my wife looks at me whenever I mention buying more miners or Bitcoin.

The open hand symbolizes the slap she's about to apply to my face.
your wife doesnt like the money? Cheesy

Don't quite have enough of it to take advantage.  I'm late to the game.   Cry
