5162  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: TheBitMint - Buy Bitcoins With PayPal on: July 02, 2012, 12:35:45 PM
Being unverified doesn't matter. He's not 18 he can't do any business on paypal at all. Read their user agreement. People are suprised he's a child with no ID come on, why are you defedning this kid. He has made no effort at all to repay anyone. Paypal agrees that this is fraud as well. I'm getting the money back through a lawyer -redacted- doesn't seemed concerned with this situation.
Just chill out man. Give the person a chance to sort out things before going the extreme route. Do not forget that he's a minor, and hence getting police/lawyers involved will definitely slow or stop things for both of you. Getting the money back through a lawyer would be the last thing you could do now and filing a suit on a minor isn't the brightest thing you could do. Paypal will not agree that he is pulling a fraud on you as you're on the receiving end of the money, not him. The worse thing Paypal would do is returning the money to him, and he can pay you guys easily back via other methods. Paypal will not 'eat' the money up if he has violated the rules - they're legally obligated to return the money to the source.

TheBitMan, I remember telling you that dealing in Paypal will get you burned when you started your service a couple months ago. Now that the situation has escalated to here, the last bad thing you could do is to become defensive like:

I never said I wasn't going to pay you guys back. I am waiting for paypals response.
On another note If any of you contact me in anyway other than by this forum, my paypal email or my sites email I will call the police and tell the them you are stalking me.

If anything goes wrong on your end (running away, calling the police and telling they're stalking etc), and someone pulls the plug on you by contacting the lawyer/police, this case will leave a black mark on your records indefinitely. You're required to state your previous court cases and so when you're applying for an university and job. So please sit down, relax and sort this trouble out methodologically. BurtW has offered precious advice - ask him politely via PM/post if you meet with any further problems. Be brave, sit down and have a talk with your parents too - they can bail you out quite easily if they would talk to Paypal on your behalf. Use your real ssn, and give any information that would verify your account with them.

And no, I've got a fully verified PayPal account when I was still 15 years old with multiple four digit transactions each month without a hitch - so if you are willing there is no excuses to not verify yourself. I grew up outside the States though, and my local PayPal does not require me to enter a birthday date to verify yourself. Linking to a valid CC and bank account was sufficient.

Wait a couple of hours more by taking a look at the Currency Exchange section. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0)
Then make a post there once you're out newbie-jail.

Thank you, its my fault for not researching this method thoroughly. It just sucks buying 30$ worth on linden dollars when I could care less about the actual game. lol
No problems. Next time try Bitinstant or this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=90192.0

5170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Theres still a cost for ASIC mining. on: July 02, 2012, 11:23:28 AM
Just grab a router and install DDWRT on it. Then use that router to control your ASICS.

5172  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I really need some desperate help so please read. SLL on: July 02, 2012, 11:21:30 AM
I don't get it. Just sell your SLL at virwox if you want to convert to bitcoins.

I think they won't let you sell SLL for Bitcoin for 30 days if you don't have a trusted/aged Second Life account.
Oh, okay. I never played that game so I don't know this.  Embarrassed

sc00bysnax, try editing your post to say : (WTS) SLL for BTC
It's hard to comprehend that block of words.

@Mods whitelisting people: Don't forget about the Business thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=20292.0

I just processed it, but it was pretty far behind since I haven't had a chance to do that for a week.

By the way, thanks for doing this! It's nice having other people process these besides me, especially because, as you know, it's hard for me to do that right now.
Didn't knew that thread also serves as a whitelisting request list; I'll check that thread too when I check this thread.  Grin

requesting an early whitelist

email was compromised and have urgent business with a member that i need to communicate with asap

thanks

Just send a PM to that member.

Saw that.

5177  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's the best manufacturer for the 5830? on: July 02, 2012, 05:46:47 AM
So I'm looking to buy the 5830 for just Bitcoin mining and I'm just wondering who's the best manufacturer?
I see a lot of the 5830's in the marketplace are by Sapphire.
This is for single GPU mining by the way, I don't plan on running crossfire.

I liked the sapphire xtreme 5830 as it had over voltage control but with only a certain warranty not sure wha it was.
Sapphire's RMA process is a total joke.  It's awful.
I don't know about this - my sapphire cards usually come back from rma in 3 weeks or less.

5180  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how often is pay per share price changed? on: July 02, 2012, 04:55:16 AM
whenever difficulty changes

How often does the difficulty change?

does mhash only determine the amount of shares processed? or does it make it harder to process shares

How often does the difficulty change?
Every 2016 blocks.

Not really comprehending what's your second question, sorry.
MHash determines the average time to find a share, higher the MHash, lower the average time.
