5161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Do any casinos offer cryptocurrency staking? on: August 06, 2021, 01:02:52 AM
You can stake your bitcoins at freebitco.in.

Any amount bigger than 30k sats gets paid daily from the annual rate of %4

IMHO, that's really a great deal if you get it on a daily basis.
Yes, since casino bankroll investments aren't worth anymore I think freebitcoin.in's one is the best option for now. In my opinion 4% yearly is pretty interesting, because dividends are being paid in bitcoin, what assures extra safety as you don't need to convert your money into an unknown altcoin which can crash without recovery chances anytime. Moreover I doubt there are better traditional investment for fiat with minimum investment of 12$ (proportional to 30,000 satoshis). There is also the possibility of increasing this yearly percentage by holding FUN tokens inside the platform. For investors looking for a low risk investment in crypto universe that is a very good opportunity.
5162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where to seek help if you need; concerned with gambling addiction. on: August 05, 2021, 10:43:25 PM
Ive seen most people here say that its just easy to quit without needing other people but when they are on the situation then for sure they cant guarantee that they could get rid of gambling addiction. This is something that you cant really be sure that you would able to solve gambling addiction on your own without the help of others specially if the said addiction is already severe. You can definitely ask help from your loved ones
but there are people who are really ashamed on asking out some help from their loved ones but we dont really have any option because they are the only ones who could help next would be
professional help if it turns out not to be that effective.
The initiative must comes from the addicted individual, otherwise it will be a big waste of time and money. The family, relatives, friends or doctors can't force someone to stop gambling. Only the gambler can take the decision and only then ask for his loved ones' help. There are cases of addicted people who were sent to rehabilitation for long periods, but without any positive effect, since it was the family which was forcing this situation and not the addicted person who wanted to go by himself. Family can help by incentivizing the gambler to seek for help, but if it doesn't happen it's not their fault at all.
5163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: has anyone here in profit after gambling ??? on: August 05, 2021, 08:32:54 PM
Exact numbers are hard to be found, but the percentage of winners must be between 3% and 5% of the total number of gamblers and their winnings are most probably due to jackpots, big wins they have hit once in life. Nowadays, with the trend around crypto gambling, many people claim to be profitable gamblers, especially the youngs, but it's important to notice to be a profitable gambler means to win on long run, what takes several years and not just few bets.

I've seen some statistics from 2020 about UK's gamblers where almost 30% of them claimed to be winning more than losing, but this percentage decreased as the age of participants increased. What means the confidence young gamblers have about their winnings decrease as they grow older, as they finally hit the long term.
5164  Economy / Economics / Re: Libertarians built a Bitcoin economy in a small town, feds shut it down on: August 05, 2021, 07:17:00 PM
One of the strongest points presented by the police was that libertarians were exchanging with a drugs dealer aware about who the man was, since he was an undercover agent and exposed it later.

What kind drug? Paracetamol, ibuprofen, cocaine, etc? I actually think the government can decide to allow/ban certain man-drugs... but natural herbal drug shouldn't be... It's doesn't make sense to ban them.  They can however have laws against their abuse.
You can't tell a Christian not to eat/use a particular herb whereas they are permitted to eat it by their laws.
Natural herbs have healing properties that shouldn't be wasted, but it doesn't mean they should be used in innapropriate ways. Anyway, the main issue presented here isn't the drugs usage itself, but the coop relationship that was established between the called libertarians and the potential drugs dealer who approached the community.
If that was really the case, the police was just doing their legit job and the community members victimizing themselves. I believe there are no excuses to maintain a relationship with a drugs dealer since this kind of people is involved in the most atrocious acts against civilized society.
5165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online gambling becomes popular on: August 05, 2021, 06:38:35 PM
We're all free and we have choice if they want to get on those physical casinos, no one will stop them until the government is not okay for the opening the physical casinos
Sure, everyone has the right to go to physical casinos. But don't forget to consider the current situation. If the Covid spread increases quickly in the area, it is better to stay at home temporarily. There is already an alternative way to gamble or play casinos, it is online gambling. Why don't play on online gambling sites? I think it is a wise decision and should be done by all people. This way also supports the government to stop Covid spread and secure everyone from the infection.

Dont risk your life for now even if you are vaccinated the chance of spreading the virus to others is indeed so consider playing Online for now and after the covid19 is gone then we can enjoy physical playing again.
Online gambling guarantees two main advantages: you don't get infected by coronavirus and you can use your crypto currency to play. Unfortunatelly physical casinos don't accept crypto currency yet, being only possible for crypto adopters to play at online platforms. That is not an issue though, because there are many decent platforms to try which surpass land based casinos in some aspects, especially if the gambler is an enthusiast of promotions and giveaways. Furthermore, it's clear online platforms like Stake offer a wide range of betting sports and categories which will be hardly found at a physical casino.
5166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies price and their effect on gambling industry on: August 05, 2021, 05:31:28 PM
For casinos I think it's somehow dangerous to keep their funds in stablecoins or dollars, because if crypto market skyrockets suddenly, they will lose a lot of money by converting their funds into bitcoin in order to let their customers withdraw their balances, what happens really frequently when bitcoin is rising.
It looks safer to just keep every deposited amount by players in its original currency, and only exchange liquid profit to another currencies such as stablecoins. So if a gambler deposits 1 BTC, that 1 BTC will remain held by the casino until the gambler orders a withdrawl or until the gambler loses that money playing. This way Bitcoin can hit 1000$ or 1,000,000$ that the casino won't have any issues in paying the gambler back, if needed.
5167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Uruguayan Lawmaker Proposes Bill to Treat Crypto as Legal Tender on: August 05, 2021, 03:59:32 PM
I think nothing of that was needed. It just creates more difficulties for who wants to invest and work with crypto currency. So far, crypto universe has been a great place to be because it is accessible and easy to be introduced, especially due to not being legal tender. Look how absurd is that proposal of being necessary to have the government's permission to start mining crypto currency.
Those who have been here since the beginning should be proud of being part of such a wonderful age of crypto currency. Because now things are just going to get worse and worse with growing governmental influence and regulations that don't respect the individuals and their appeal for less bureaucracy.

I don't understand. The proposal was to remove obstacles and not to create them. If Bitcoin is recognized as a legal tender, then it will make the lives of cryptocurrency users much more easier. They don't need to pay capital gains tax on profits from Bitcoin, since it will be considered as a currency (rather than an asset). Making payments with Bitcoin will get easier, if it is recognized as legal tender. On the other hand, in countries such as the United States, it is extremely difficult to deal with cryptocurrency. Since it is recognized as an asset, every transaction needs to be reported in the income tax return, with all the details. It can be really tedious.
The governments want to make people believe regulations will make crypto currency users' lives easier, but it's just propaganda. I can't say for now if there will be less taxes if bitcoin was considered currency instead of asset by authorities, because less taxes is never the goal of governments. They always find a gap to introduce something new that you must pay, justifying it is for your own good.
For bitcoin, neutral/gray area was the best moment in history, when people could deal with it without any complications and government's intromission like the ones blatantly seen in USA right now. And I believe the difficulties faced in USA aren't due to the lack of regulations, but the introduction of abusive ones.

Since it was created, bitcoin has been working fine as currency or investment, and even in case of criminal activities people behind these acts could be tracked without any current regulations, so why to change something that was doing well already?

5169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Increasing acceptance level - Cryptocurrency on: August 04, 2021, 09:11:22 PM
That is a very good signal for crypto currency. Sectors of society like this are the ones which we need to see adopting crypto, because they are highly demanded by the common citizens in a daily basis.

With the popularization of internet access everywhere, scenes like this one are going to be become a lot more common from now on. But I believe P2P transactions are still a daydream. If crypto payment method is going to be highly adopted, it's probably going to be done through a third party platform that may work as a crypto bank or something like this, so the transactions can be done instantly without paying expensive fees.
5170  Economy / Economics / Re: Libertarians built a Bitcoin economy in a small town, feds shut it down on: August 04, 2021, 07:49:58 PM
It's hard to take a side on this situation, because we don't really know if it's pure power abusing from authorities or if the source of the money used by the members of this community was really result of shady activities. One of the strongest points presented by the police was that libertarians were exchanging with a drugs dealer aware about who the man was, since he was an undercover agent and exposed it later.
Sadly these news seem very hidden from the traditional media vehicles. I would like to see it more in evidence by popular sources of information, in a way more people could see and understand this situation better.
5171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What hatred do people have for Bitcoin? on: August 04, 2021, 06:58:04 PM
Probably these people are hurted because they have lost the early days of bitcoin when it was cheap as 1$. Since they didn't make profit from bitcoin and always badmouthed the crypto currency, all they can do for now is to hope it dies. Pay attention and you will see people like this mostly appear at commentary sections of several sites and forums spreading negativity when we are facing a crash, dump, dip in the market.
But once bitcoin starts recovering, they just fade out until they smell a new opportunity to blame bitcoin again.
5172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it wise to invest in nft art work? on: August 04, 2021, 03:50:35 PM
In my opinion it's not a good investment because as you said, it's overvalued. I prefer to invest in practical things that actually have a real function in life, so the value of the item can be easily explained and understood. Digital art pieces in NFT format opens large margins to pure speculation, what is very dangerous for investors.
What makes a masterpiece a real masterpiece is its originality and uniqueness which so far I haven't found in virtual art works. Modern artists appeal to common elements of the daily life to represent their works and sell it for thousands or millions of dollars. It doesn't make sense at all if you exclude the money laundering possibility.
5173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin an Investment or Payment form? Has it lost its purpose? on: August 04, 2021, 12:06:35 AM
Bitcoin isn't strong as currency because most businesses don't accept it as payment and not because transactions take too long to get confirmed. There are many things I could pay with bitcoin and wait several hours or even days to have my transactions confirmed without any problems, but unfortunatelly I just can't. So I have to exchange my money into fiat first in order to use it, what is very pointless since I could be using that money in bitcoin. I believe if more services adopted bitcoin as payment we would see an exponential increasement in btc usage as currency.

However it's important to highlight I'm not talking about any kind of services. It must be daily high demanded services and businesses by common people, not some fancy or excentric brands.
5174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Police Destroy 1,069 Bitcoin Miners With Steamroller In Malaysia on: August 03, 2021, 10:41:28 PM
I ask myself if Malaysia would also destroy bitcoin hardwares in case of seizing funds from criminals dealing with the crypto currency in that country. Because if they did it with mining equipment, it's not unlikely they would do the same with bitcoin itself. As I see it was done as propaganda against bitcoin, to impress the local population to stay away from activities which involve crypto currency, like mining. When a government destroys something (books, guns, piracy content or crypto mining equipments) it's because they want the population to fear that specific thing they are burning or destryoing, so people will stay away from that.
5175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motivated by "breaking the code" on: August 02, 2021, 08:37:30 PM
~snip~
I personally do not play slots, but do you think that is why people like slot machines? Short of breaking their code?
Probably this neighbor didn't have knowledge about informatic, programming and house edge so he thought he could overcome the machine. It's a common thought among older people to think like this, because they have no idea how these machines work exactly or how they reach to the final result. I've seen people believing they could win if they click the button in a way or another, or even following a sequence of customized bets, as if it could trigger a bug in the system and reward them prizes constantly. Actually, a bug isn't impossible, but I doubt the bar/casino owner would let the machine there for too long if it was the case.
^ Actually the thing that comes up in their mind is not about the entertainment anymore, they think that there is one strategy that will increase their odds of winning for specific machines. Because they think that putting any amount still the same either it is on the maximum or in the minimum, there could be a possibility that you will lose. This theory they believe in is that the more you risk the more you can win, so probably in that way they can beat the machine but I don't know if they can actually break the code which is impossible. But on my own, just stick to your budget and move on once you had a loss.
It's impossible or near to impossible to break the code and even if it would happen there are many employees around following gamblers' progress in real time. If a machine is bugged, they will fastly shut it down and call a technician to repair the issue before someone else can start playing on this machine again.

On the other hand I know some people who are customers of a casino or another and they have a favorite machine to play during a specific period of the day when attending to these houses, because they suppose during that time the machine gives more rewards. Well, I'm sure something like that is possible in programming, but I'm not sure if it really happens in casinos.

Some might even say a determined machine likes them very much, so it's going to reward them more often. But this is already too much to be taken into consideration. Cheesy
5176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Idea of Bitcoin As A Religion on: August 02, 2021, 06:37:24 PM
To worship material elements is heresy. These people are putting money beyond God, what is a serious mistake. The correct is to be thankful to God for the money (bitcoin) they are having the opportunity to earn and grow along the years. Without any doubts it's a great gift to be an early bitcoin adopter and I believe if something like this happens in someone's life it's because God really blessed them or is trying to teach something through it.
But there is a big difference between being thankful for bitcoin or trusting its potential and being a bitcoin believer (in a religious sense).

It reminds that story of the golden calf found in The Bible, which started being worshiped by the israelites when Moses went up to the mount to receive the Ten Commandments. Since he took some time to come back, his people in despair lost hope, patience and started worshiping the golden calf, just like these people worhip Bitcoin now. Ironically bitcoin is sometimes presented as or within a bull, just like the calf statue during the biblical times.
5177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Women in Gambling on: August 02, 2021, 03:38:30 PM
I believe women participation in gambling industry is probably the same of men. I see both genders very involved in gambling. Women and specially old ladies love slots machines, cards, lottery and bingo games.
It's easy to conclude that just by going to a land based casino or by watching some movies which display gambling scenes.
5178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we already in meme coins mania? on: August 02, 2021, 04:07:43 AM
Meme coin mania is a indicator of how people are inconsequential with their money. Instead of investing in something worthful they play with their money putting it in coins which don't have any real value, just for kidding. It looks like they don't worry about their money at all. Unfortunatelly many investors who can't waste money follow these hypes and end losing funds they couldn't afford to lose.
In my opinion this kind of investment should be avoided, since it is just an upgraded version of old ponzi schemes.
5179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could crypto replace government? on: August 02, 2021, 02:18:08 AM
Could such a system of government work?
Probably not, because most people aren't able to take the decisions you mentioned. There are complex subjects governments face daily and there are specialized people to solve these subjects and keep the country working. If you put the common citizens to solve technical subjects through voting it is not going to work, because these people have no idea how things really work or should be done.
Also, a smart contract system like that would kill any secret intelligence service the country has, because everything would be public. Furthermore, a country like this would be really vulnerable to foreigner sabotage/influence. Extremist systems aren't a good idea and an extreme democracy is equally bad or even worse than a tyranny.
5180  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and happiness. on: August 01, 2021, 08:00:55 PM
Money imposes limits or open doors in your life depending on how you have disponible. So it's a fact it will influence on your mood and I believe to tell the opposite is a lie. Everyone wants to dispose of an enough amount of money to fullfil their goals and achieve their dreams and if they aren't able to do it, a feeling of failure will take control of them, influencing the mood.
Of course there are also some people who can't get enough of money. The more they have the more they want without limits, being always in a bad mood, because nothing can satisfy them. That is an extreme behavior that shouldn't be misunderstood by the common financial difficulties and their effects on mood faced by most people in the world.
