5181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decrypt .key old multibit wallet on: December 02, 2021, 10:13:14 AM
Make a copy of the key file and open it with a text editor (notepad?)

In the file ignore the lines that start with #.
If you have at least one line that looks like
Kxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 2021-12-02T11:28:19Z
or
Lxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 2021-12-02T11:28:19Z
(obviously another chars instead of x) then you're good, you can import the private key into Electrum.
Please don't post it anywhere online.

If the file looks different, i.e. it starts with U2F, then it's encrypted and you need to remember your password (and if you don't remember it then you have a problem).
If it's not password protected, you can import it into Electrum as P2PKH:Kxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

(Make sure you've got Electrum from electrum.org and verified it too.)
5182  Other / Meta / Re: Censoring? Removed post? on: December 02, 2021, 10:00:48 AM
Today I see my post is completely gone, but I also did not receive any kind of message. Was this post removed by the mods?

From what I know, there's no PM on removal of topics. Only for posts.
Also from what I understand, the service can be used for stealing, hence may be seen as an illegal tool. And illegal stuff is against the rules, this would be my take for the reason of deletion.
5183  Local / Minerit / Re: Timp estimativ minat Bitcoin on: December 02, 2021, 09:18:29 AM

5184  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Electrum and windows not seeing coldcard on: December 02, 2021, 09:13:24 AM
It worked to use the coldcard ''wireless'' option.

Thank you for the feedback.
And obviously, I'm glad it has worked out Smiley
5185  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need a Coinbase Wallet, as well as the Coinbase account? on: December 01, 2021, 09:34:41 PM
NeuroticFish, thanks for that link.
That explains the process almost as clearly as You just did, but still...
When ORIGINATING / CREATING a non-custodial wallet (for the intended Offline machine),
that machine MUST go momentarily online for that creation process.  Correct?
Or am I still missing something?

Aahhh...  I just read the reply from Jerome...
With Electrum, I can create my own 12-word-seed-phrase (or any other text?).
Now, THERE's the answer for paranoids like me.
Nobody except ME will initially see that source seed-phrase.

Am I clear, now?    Roll Eyes

At creation, a new random seed is generated. Basically a random set* of 12 words from this list is picked: https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt
It's not your own list of words, but you can add custom words though to it if you want.
It's ... random. For generating random numbers (or lists) a computer doesn't need to go online.

* actually a checksum is also made (and Electrum adds its own version info too) so at least the last word may not be exactly random, still the explanation can be seen as a simplification, not too far from reality.
5186  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bonus of over 1000 Euros stuck behind wager wall, fml on: December 01, 2021, 09:11:53 PM
I am sorry for making myself unclear.

I did not request any funds to withdraw that, I just stated that unless someone helped me with this, I would be unable to withdraw this.

Well, the part "Unless a kind person was to give me the money to claim the wager" can be understood that way.
While you are right - we are in gambling section and not in lending - I would not be surprised if some fellow gambler is "interested" in taking the risk, and it would not be advised since it can end bad for both of you (money is a sensitive thing, especially when something goes wrong).

So point was only to help - both you and any potential gambler-lender - in getting things right.

You don't have to apologize (btw, I also didn't say that you are scammer - I'd need proof for that -; what I said was this can be seen like that). Language is an imperfect way to transmit information. My advice is to not accept any help here. As other said discuss with the support there about what you need to do to get to withdraw those funds, research to make 100% sure it's not a scam site, and if it's indeed a prize there to grab easily, get a loan and grab it. Good luck!
5187  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do I need a Coinbase Wallet, as well as the Coinbase account? on: December 01, 2021, 08:53:00 PM
When originating a non-custodial wallet (that will be forever offline / cold / air-gapped),
I MUST go online to Receive the seed-phrase in the first place,
and that seed-phrase is sent to me along with the wallet number.  Correct?

A cold wallet NEVER has to go online. You said it. then why would you still go online with it for whatever reason?
You've missed something.

When a wallet is created, a HD wallet, a random seed is generated for it and the private keys and addresses are generated based on that forever. No need for anything online.
If you want to properly use a cold wallet, you need a companion watch only wallet on another device, online.
The link between the two is made through master public key.

The online wallet has all the info to create transactions, but cannot sign them because no private keys available.
The unsigned transactions are transferred to the cold wallet, you sign them there, transfer back to the online wallet and broadcast them.

As you see, the cold wallet remains offline. Its only use is to sign transactions. It won't have up-to-date balance info, for example. But the watch only, online wallet, will have the correct balance and that's good enough.

5188  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bonus of over 1000 Euros stuck behind wager wall, fml on: December 01, 2021, 08:42:13 PM
OP, this kind of posts look more like attempt to scam, really. I mean, you didn't say clearly what are the rules for the claim and basically you want all the risk to stay in lender's hands, which is not normal.
If you truly believe you can get that bonus, I am sure that you will find proper collateral and lend the needed amount of money - whether on Bitcointalk, from pawn shop or, why not, from family or friends.
5189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin seen as 'Risk On' Asset instead of Gold's 'Risk Off' Status? on: December 01, 2021, 08:31:09 PM
Is it because Gold has a much bigger market cap than bitcoin meaning it cant be manipulated by a whale pumping gold price like 10% in a day?

Bitcoin's 10% a day is not done solely by a whale. Or at least I don't think so, not at current prices and volumes. But it is related to the fact the market is not properly regulated and:
* whales can manipulate it. Not at 10%, but still.
* inside trading may be more a rule than an exception
* huge margin trading is allowed
* many traders are too young/inexperienced

All these can have a cascading effect of whatever the whale does. It's not guaranteed though.
It's not that gold price cannot be manipulated. But the potential effects are not that big.
5190  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to stop making mistakes by fear??? on: December 01, 2021, 08:20:16 PM
I want to know how to make avoid stupid trading mistakes by fear.

If you plan to indeed trade, maybe let some bots do the job after you know how to fine tune them.

Or, just leave trading and HODL. Trading is not for everybody, you know. For me, some years ago, one simple way to ensure that fear won't make me sell early was the paper wallet: until you get to the point you'd sweep the paper wallet you may get to your senses, understand why you made the paper wallet, and stop doing the stupid thing. But this works only when HODLing.
5191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin seen as 'Risk On' Asset instead of Gold's 'Risk Off' Status? on: December 01, 2021, 07:55:42 PM
So if Bitcoin is store of value like gold and does the same as Gold then why isn't it classed as Risk Off status like Gold?

Gold price changes very slowly, the changes are very small.
On the other hand Bitcoin has days with 10% price change... easily.

The result is that you can lose in years with gold less than in one day with Bitcoin.
Just imagine those who bought Bitcoin in the winter of 2017/2018 at over 15k and sold in 2019 4x cheaper...
Yes, on very long term, or if you know when to buy and when to sell, Bitcoin is a great investment. Ah, you need strong hearth too for certain changes in the price.
...While gold just changes a little bit now and then.

All in all I find the risk status pretty much OK for now. I am certain that in some more years (and I hope they won't be many), Bitcoin will also become "risk off".
5192  Economy / Services / Re: [OPEN]Bounty pool - Royse777 [Monthly payment in BTC] on: December 01, 2021, 01:26:47 PM
After long few months, we will have a payment :-D

Thanks for the update.
I've noticed Yura with missing info here, but I also noticed that you were less active on the forum, hence most probably busy IRL (I hope that all is well), so I didn't panic Grin
5193  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What's the main point of mining bitcoin if value goes up? on: December 01, 2021, 01:21:11 PM
I started mining two years ago through my web sites which we sell JAC Products and also Mobile Phone. I love mining in my user's equipments.  Wink I started My job from ACTOBIT

Unless your users consent to mine for you, what you do is most probably illegal. So have your fun until somebody will sue you.
5194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jack Dorsey far less decentralized exchange (tbDEX) on: December 01, 2021, 12:56:57 PM
Jack can not build up a decentralized exchange or be part of core team and still want to keep centralized power in Twitter. People will look at his position in Twitter and are doubtful of his statement about new projects he is involving with.

This decision to departure from CEO position is smart

Interesting thinking. I like it, it's a very good point.
Of course, it's risky too, since if Twitter will now be more restrictive against users/freedom of speech/hot topics, o will start getting less successful, it will also be seen as a problem of @jack, even if it's maybe indirectly so.

He is very ambitious and want to explorer new things technically.

The new directions may also need closer attention and more of his time until they get on the right track, and that's not only from profit point of view, also their public image has to be good and this may mean good decisions and close look on the teams and their (general line of) work.
5195  Economy / Services / Re: [Hiring] Graphics Designer Monthly Basis on: December 01, 2021, 12:47:12 PM
Please write to me or post down below about your experiences and your desired salary.

Also whoever tries to get the job, make sure some funds are escrowed.
No offense, but some tend to be too "hungry" and not careful enough to avoid any possible surprises, hence this should be mentioned because you don't have yet a reputation on this forum.
Actually if you mention escrow you may even have better chance to get easier and better applicants. Good luck!
5196  Economy / Speculation / Re: TA shows potential bullish breakout - if history repeats on: December 01, 2021, 12:41:44 PM
People react to news right away not with a large delay specially when we are talking about a 24/7 market like bitcoin. If they were to react to COVID news and other markets dumping they would have already showed some kind of reaction already.
Meanwhile price is currently $57k and doesn't seem interested in going down.

There was a flash dump yesterday, quickly going from over 59k to 56.6k, but the magnitude was small (flash dump for ants).
I find it interesting that it didn't go significantly up or down. And instead the news about the Canadian ETF have come. Again, with no effect on the price.
All in all, I think that Ratimov has nailed it:

More like your great desire to see a breakout in this picture than a real breakout signal. That is to say, wishful thinking.
5197  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Multi bit on: December 01, 2021, 12:30:26 PM
I think that the easiest way is what o_e_l_e_o said: if you managed to obtain the correct addresses, just import the corresponding private keys and you're good for start. You'd need only the private keys for the addresses you have funds on.

And if it's indeed such big money there, you should consider buying a hardware wallet and sending your coins to addresses generated by the hardware wallet.
5198  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S can't connect on: December 01, 2021, 12:22:12 PM
Any tips on what I can do to resolve the problem?

1. From what I know, Nano X connects through Bluetooth. Nano S through data cable. If you have used different cable for connecting Nano S to the hub, please use the same that have been working with the other ports.
2. If an USB port (or hub) gave error it won't recognize the same device in the same place. I also use an USB hub and sometimes I get failures and if so, sometimes it works by plugging the Nano S to another port of the hub, sometimes I need to unplug the whole hub and plug it back.
3. If you get it working, make sure that before unplugging it, use the Eject USB feature to give it less chances for future USB errors.
5199  Economy / Speculation / Re: TA shows potential bullish breakout - if history repeats on: November 30, 2021, 11:41:41 PM
The markets had a bad days due to fear of COVID (Dow falls 652 points on Fed chief Powell's tapering comments and Omicron variant concerns)
I don't know what will happen next:
1. it may be that people will sell bitcoin too and keep the money for whatever comes
2. it may be that people will invest into Bitcoin the money they've got from stocks, since the economy is expected to have problems, but they still want to earn

Of course, 1 means bearish market, and 2 bullish. Sometimes bitcoin acts like it would be coupled with stocks, sometimes it does the opposite, or neither. (I said acts like, since they are not coupled).

Gazeta?
