5181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent events should make everyone withdraw all their coins to their own wallets on: February 28, 2022, 11:25:19 AM
For the innocent people in Ukraine bitcoin can certainly be a safe haven right now. Much easier to take it all with you and much easier to cross a border with when compared to fiat. And no possibility of a bank run leaving you with nothing provided you are holding your own coins. And for the innocent people in Russia who don't want any part of Putin's insane war but are being affected by all the sanctions regardless, it also allows them to avoid a bank run as well as offering some stability against the ruble, which is devaluing rapidly and will likely continue to do so. However, again, this is dependent on them holding their own coins, as I fully expect crypto exchanges to start having to comply with international sanctions as well and therefore freeze accounts of Russian citizens.

I remember how nice it was for a lot of Turkish people too, arbitrarily blocked by banking networks in their own country, when they found the "freedom" and "access" of guys like Transferwise and then later Revolute. Wise (as it's now called) then started their own arbitrary blocking, Revolut did the same to some degree of scandal, so I'm definitely sure a lot of people learnt that Bitcoin was the only safe way to protect their own money.

So yes, Russian exchanges -- and any exchange in the region for that matter -- will soon have to comply. If not with the international networks, then with their own (perhaps even more arbitrary) central bank. It'll be worse than bank runs.

So it did go all the way to the end, LFC_Bitcoin and to be completely frank, I was thinking we were the poorer lineup for PKs... no Mane, no Firmino, but our defenders did well, close shaves as Kepa did get close to saving but hey so did Kelleher! Worked out well, Klopp kept his faith in the men that brought us to the final, and Kelleher especially will feel this trophy has his name all over it.

Any cup's a good cup and I do miss seeing Hendo do his lift dance.

@Steve: I asked a while back for a quadruple special and forgive my arrogance but any chance there will still be a late special to take? Liverpool aren't the favourites by any means in either of the prizes left, but I rather think the role of underdog suits them well.

And I'm with Trofo on proposed changes, not new, but yeah, I'd love to be able to see the stuff I bet on first, and the stuff I don't hidden or at least not in view. The best crypto sportsbook in the world needs to keep extending its lead Wink

5183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Binance donates $10 million to support Ukraine on: February 27, 2022, 06:37:55 PM
Binance Charity, despite all I've said in the negative about them, are at least not sitting on their hands doing nothing.

Russian people do not want war.
Ukranian people do not want war.
People from Belarus do not want war.
Therefore at the end of the day we have to understand that it's the sick political situation that makes everything worse for people that they end up in a horrible situation. I had to run from Ukraine 3 days back from Ivano frankivsk and stand on the border for hours before they let me in with my 2 cats. What Russia is doing is horrible. All my savings, my house that I rent everything is now gone. I do hope people continue to make sure gracious donations because Ukraine does need it. NATO is not going to help and WW3 can be there any moment, I literally do not know what's going to happen now.

I don't think there's a single regular person on this forum or living the realities of life who does. I hope you are safe. And it's a frivolous question but have you not been saving in Bitcoin? No need to answer, I just put it out there.

No one is out of the woods yet over there, and those of us who can, should support whomever needs help from there. Russian or Ukrainian or Belarussian, it is awful people are caught up in this and forced to wear a label.

5184  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ FOOTBALL: EFL Carabao Cup 2021/22 Season (English Football League) on: February 27, 2022, 05:35:18 PM
I wasn't expecting 0-0 even though that was the likeliest outcome at HT on the bookie odds. Hard for me to be objective as a Reds supporter but had we switched our forwards and been given the same chances, I daresay we'd be 2-nil up.

Keita is a little frustrating for me, and I feel like we need to harry them a little bit more. Good news is we do have options and I trust Klopp's tactics more than Tuchel's.

As long as we keep forcing the corners we should be fine. Chalobah seems a slight chink to be exploited, and they seem shaky defending corners.

Game on, I guess.
5185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Recent events should make everyone withdraw all their coins to their own wallets on: February 27, 2022, 04:30:54 PM
It's really sad to be reminded of that -- the pride and nationalism and patriotism one tends to feel like just being born in a random place in the world, does not ever grant you the privilege of saying: "my government will never do that". It's still so surreal to think Canada and then Russia taking the stage, both doing what most of their countrypeople would bet a million times their respective countries would never do.

I've already seen and read -- without evidence of course -- of people already running and leaving everything behind. If anyone has been lucky enough to store some of their wealth in Bitcoin in an effort to preserve it, well done. But indeed, take custody of your Bitcoin. Sole custody. And it's simpler (and easier) than you think.

Ask anyone active with merits if you're lost.

Villareal drive me crazy. When I say they can get 3 goals, they can't. Then when I back them again they score 5. It's pretty annoying to "go brave" and predict a high scoring match and then still get the same points for when they go and score 5. Then again, also brave to predict 1-0 and then see it all fall away with 2 goals in 10 mins huh.

Sevilla on track it seems even with those key players missing huh. Are we ready to acknowledge they have a chance? I'm moving over to you know which game =D
5187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +80817 units on: February 27, 2022, 01:47:11 PM
Not able to retrieve slips as on mobile right now but my balance is low and I want Liverpool to win badly, and I am sure many fringe players like Kelleher also want some silverware. Trophies are good.

So a big bet is absolutely required at 3/1 odds. Can even squeeze out more if you use price boosts. I have to accept lower odds too as no access ha.

So 500 units at Fairlay on Liverpool to WIN vs Chelsea @3.01. Other odds 3.15

Units advantage: -70

Will resume and add calculations later.
5188  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price stay above $40000? on: February 27, 2022, 01:03:27 PM
Doubts about a deeper decline due to the war are plausible reasons why people panic to sell. I don't know if those living in Russia or Ukraine felt comfortable holding bitcoins during the conflict, but it seems the war has influenced them to sell their bitcoin (some or all).

This isn't even the first time people consider what happens to holders and investors in times of conflict and physical uncertainty and I think the idea that people hold more to preserve it from capture is a bit out of evidenced behaviour.

The only thing keeping Bitcoin stashed is those transporting wealth. That is safer and much more discrete than Hiding gold and precious stones to transport alongside flight. Do not even need to physically carry anyhing if you secure private keys to be retrieved later.

Otherwise, considering myself, and am sure what most people do in crisis, I would liquidate for emergency expenses. Travel, fees, bribes, whatever. Crisis is a selling requirement.
5189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 27, 2022, 12:02:14 PM
3.5 handicap - I am taking only when betting on favorites, never against favorites. If I want to go against favorite, much better option is that underdog takes one set

4.5 handicap - heavily dependent on who goes first, try to avoid it completely since it will often get decided on coin toss

5.5 handicap and higher - sweet spot to bet on underdog, this one passes with one break per set no matter who goes first

Basically never take middle handicap @1.85, take one that pays @1.6 and you will pass much more often. This brings to my only problem with Sporstbet and them offering only middle handicap. Going to write about it in their thread once more Smiley

Makes a lot of sense to me, and yeah, Sportsbet problem is this is all you got, and because it looks like a good bet for an acca, I had no hesitation taking it, but I'll bear this in mind (if I don't distract myself with correct scores which is my downfall especially if huge price boosts are available) to take one barely above the min 1.5 required, or to take your sweet spot underdog 5.5.

5190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: The volume of exchanges on crypto exchanges explodes in Ukraine on: February 27, 2022, 10:50:23 AM
Only in the last 3 hours? Would have expected it to be steadily going up while the troops were building up. Though I guess if an exchange like Luno is tripling in volume, I'd expect more people who know how to use Bitcoin wallets would have been shoring it up weeks ago.

I wonder what's been happening with Ukraine's supposed stash? Current regime is supposedly awash.
5191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 27, 2022, 10:19:54 AM
Trofo, morvillz, Welsh, I don't normally call out for any conspiracies either but that Rodrigo handball. I initially thought they got away with it, but when ref called for VAR I thought, ah great, finally. Now he can't possibly not give it. And then, according to my stream, foreign language, but I guess everyone says "offside", that was the reason given (PL clarified no offside), and the ref gave a freekick at that point too... so I don't know how anything makes sense because pre-VAR, post-VAR, no VAR, that's a penalty all day for me. Lucky bastards.

Premier League explanation: Premier League clarify that the VAR team didn't think there was conclusive evidence that the ball hit Rodri more in the red area of the arm than the green.

Anyway, moving on. It's not going to matter. United meet City and I've also found this tie to be highly profitable, given how bookies put odds out on form. United love to win THAT rivalry, and it's a beautiful 10/1 price right now. If you like the draw, it's even 5/1. And even if they lose THAT it doesn't matter cause we'll meet them in April and remind them to stop trying to draw all our games haha.

@leea St Totteringham's day. You guys should get your act together and find a different celebration in this period against the Gooners.

Anyone knows why Chelsea vs Leicester postponed?
Because Chelsea plays League Cup final against Liverpool today. I expected you as big red supporter to know that Smiley
Same reason why Liverpool - Arsenal is postponed as well.

Come on Pamoldar, you've been slipping up a lot I've been noticing. Stop fooling around and support your team proper =p You can pay penance by betting big on Liverpool today. 3/1++ it doesn't get much better.

it is actually third in a row for Nadal, since comeback, since he won Melbourne prior to Australian Open, it is not a major tournament, but counts eventually
not typical for Nadal, but he lost gem, when he served for match in second set, and had generally many, two lost service gems in second set, but Norrie looked too tired to play

Norrie now has to defend Indian Wells title, which will be very hard, considering all other players, but he is in good form, obviously

Damn man, 3 titles -- minor and major, they all count -- in 2022 and we're not even in March yet. And not so long ago him memed in crutches and I thought wow, it was supposed to be Fedex to drop off first, Nadal beat him to it.

Then we get served with this. Federer to get inspired and mount a quick recovery?

Youngest and oldest champion. What a legend.
5193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: February 26, 2022, 07:13:07 PM
Great, Lampard can apply a fairly tight and disciplined gameplay for Everton even though I previously thought that Manchester City could lead from half time. It's not about ball possession or overall stats, but leading to win by a goal but Everton so far are still playing pretty tight and that makes it difficult for Manchester City to score. Indeed, I do not expect Everton to lose because they are very close to the relegation zone and if this match ends in a draw then surely Liverpool will be closer to Manchester City as the leader of the table.

And then it takes some mistake from Everton to give City the lead they don't really deserve (depends on your assessment but they actually just haven't been incisive and just putting balls into the box without really creating any great moves).

If only Everton took the lead from their great chance in the first half, not sure who it was who missed from close range -- Rodri is getting a VAR review now for handball so I'm hoping haha.

Please, gods of VAR. Edit: offside damn haha.

Amen morvillz, amen. But hey, not that I regret doing things the way I am this season, but I would definitely have been backing the Milans to lose a lot, as well as Juventus, though as I seldom pick draws, I guess I'd still not be hitting as much. Juventus are minutes away from ensuring we don't all lose for another dumb draw but hey, maybe me posting this jinxes everything eh?
5195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +80817 units on: February 26, 2022, 05:02:04 PM
Ouf yeah, Watford ended up drawing but United play like crap if Fernandes is off form huh.

I don't know if you sow, but I called you out in a tennis thread with nice bet for you the other day. Vesely to win 2:0 against Djokovic. There were odds over 20, I got 26 with super boost.

No way, I didn't see THAT! I do get notifications but I probably should trim it down as I actually get around 20 every time I check, so it's easy to miss. 26/1, that is worthy of a post here and I'd have for sure followed -- unlike today following you only halfway (your 5.5 handicap was exactly what was needed but I did less).

I said before a couple of times, you're the only tennis guys I'd follow on this forum (and certain European football!). Well done man.
5196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: February 26, 2022, 04:53:18 PM
I said yesterday that I will skip the final but I placed +5.5 handicap on Vesely in the end.

Great calls so far my man, and it led me to have to take this as well -- making it my weird first leg in the you-know-which-sportsbook-gives-free-insurance-on-5-legs daily I'm taking today. I only take +3.5 handicap though, and had to smack myself now as it's already dead, so quick resolution too, I guess we were wrong about the adrenaline pumping him up. Not that I was watching but the loss was pretty tame by the standards he set.
5197  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +80817 units on: February 26, 2022, 02:18:52 PM
I know I said always bet against City if it's over 10/1 odds, but well, there are also times we should bet against United. I hate both Manchester teams so it's always a joy to throw money away at them (sobs). But United I dare say are a different proposition -- they're creaky and are liable to let in a goal first, which brings me to the awesome Stake special where if Watford score first OR any time in the first 15 minutes, you win your ML bet.

So, while you can get almost 10/1 at Sportsbet on an outright, I believe Stakes's offer is more valuable at a lower payout.

100 units at Stake on Watford to WIN, score first, or score by 15' @7.80. No odds comparison, but Sportsbet has 9.86 on Watford win.
Bet ID: betId=89c6e9b6-c68a-450b-aa91-e3a8fd2c7eeb

Then of course, Citeh, the obligatory bet.
100 units at Fairlay on Everton to WIN vs City @12.52. Other odds: 10.40

Units advantage: 212

Running advantage after 115 bets: +12709 (+212)
All-time cumulative: +81,115
Running units after 113 bets (14W|99L): +2328 (-100)
5198  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: February 26, 2022, 02:01:17 PM
Spurs 3 goals up by half time, I thought this would be a massacre especially when Leeds got themselves carded all over the place soon after restart. Looks like they might nick a goal if they keep on trying, but they're desperately short of quality finishers this team... one easy-ish shot on target to show for all their industry.

Even though it benefits us for Everton to win, I can never bet in their favour, so I've gone for a Manchester City win, without conceding, and is a part of a larger accumulator which at the moment seems to be going well. I'm actually hoping Everton get regelated, as that would really rile them up. I wouldn't want them to stay down though, as I enjoy the derby matches we have with them. Its just Everton around two years ago when they started spending a lot on players thought they were now the kings of Merseyside, so it'll be nice for them to have a dose of reality. Obviously, they've already had that by losing so much, but I think I would enjoy them getting regelated just this one time.

Spoken like a true Red. I have to admit, I bet against City regardless of the opposition, and the odds in double-digits just makes me think even less.

Prediction wise, though, the only time I've ever gone against them is when Liverpool play -- usually to my detriment in this pool as it's been draws more than wins IIRC except during the 2019 period where Klopp hadn't learnt to put his brakes on yet.

I definitely would love to see them get relegated too, actually, spending all that money, and that that super stadium they're so proud of. I actually do remember thinking when Ancellotti was there the city would probably enjoy a lot of European football but well, they never managed to climb the rungs I thought they needed to fall off.

Leeds - Tottenham game is nearly beginning. Tottenham are the favourite team to win of course but it is still doubtful at the same time. Because I don't know if I can trust Tottenham about winning this game after losing four of their last five league games. They can't be trusted in this situation as a result. But I really want them to win this game and gather strength. Leeds are one of the poorest teams by their results these days. Their last result was a 6-0 loss against Liverpool. I hope Tottenham manage to win.

Leeds are running themselves into the ground. Love them to bits and their fans clearly do, amd players all playing for Bielsa but he has to wisen up and manage games and personnel better if he wants them to sustain any charge an entire season.

Down to an early goal already and immediately they have to score two to get a chance. But yeah, Conte is also running out of ideas so this game is still anyone's.

Hey Stake people. Bet on your own girlfriend today Watford. United absolute favourites as they should be in every game anyway, Elanga the guy saving their asses, but Hornets got their own Denis to count on.

As long as he scores first for the Hornets, or in the first 15 minutes, we are all golden, right?

Waiting to see if Sarr also makes the lineup, but my money is in. Easy!
