And what the OP feels must have been felt by almost all true gamblers if we are not careful and don't see or learn from mistakes then we will receive more losses.
and it is undeniable that the desire to pursue previous defeats will certainly exist and moments of victory and even successive wins, and this is where we will be tested and tempted or ambitious to continue playing and hope to continue to win, which is actually a trap that will bring misery or lose everything .
and stop when emotions are rising or stop when your position wins several times and don't be provoked by emotions that make you waste your winnings.

In my opinion, the desire to win back previous losses is more of an excuse than the real reason why the gambler continues to play. Because at a certain point it becomes obvious that the total amount of losses already significantly exceeds the money that the player can allocate to himself for the game and there is no chance to recoup, and the best option to stop the game is to stop playing. But this does not stop anyone and they continue to "try to win back."
522  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can change of environment have an effect on gambling addiction. on: July 07, 2022, 12:03:24 PM
You will agree with me that society and the environment can have a great influence on the lifestyle of every individual, you often can find yourself doing, or being involved in that activity that almost everyone is involved with in that your locale as a result of influence. Now considering someone who is a gambling addict, is there any possibility of him/her becoming better if they are relocated to another environment or society where people around are not involved in gambling?

Can someone still develop the habit of gambling and become an addict even though no one around gambles?

I have heard that for real drug addicts who have ended their addiction with the help of specialists/clinics, the main problem is returning to the former environment - this dramatically increases the likelihood that they will again get addicted to drugs. I think with gambling a similar picture. But the environment is not the most important factor that can outweigh all the others, so even if your environment is completely healthy, you can still become a gambling addict.
523  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [CHESS] FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2022 on: July 07, 2022, 11:36:27 AM
So this year's candidates, Nepo actually won again and he will be facing Magnus for the 2nd time! What are your thoughts on this?

I see that on the chess community, a lot of people are upset that Nepo won. Maybe this is due to the fact that they wanted to see a new opponent facing Magnus since Nepo got destroyed last year after he crumbled from his loss on Game 6 of their match on 2020 WCC. Do you guys think that Magnus will participate in this year's candidates despite him telling not to?

Magnus is still avoiding answering the question of whether he will defend the title, so it is unclear who Nepomniachtchi will play against. As far as I understand this issue should be resolved by the end of July.
As for the results of the tournament, in my opinion, the biggest disappointment among the public was the defeat of Nakamura in the last round, which allowed Ding Liren to take second place and qualify for the championship match if Magnus refuses. Nakamura is extremely popular both on the internet and just in chess, so this event was a big pain for many.
524  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 (September 17) on: July 07, 2022, 10:54:22 AM
There are super athletes who can't really shut their mouth even if they losses, like Canelo, he said that he did enough to win in the Bivol fight. But we all witnessed that he was outgun by the young and taller opponent giving him his second lost in his career. And same here, Canelo is talking hard against GGG, of course they are rivals and this is their 3rd fight. But if GGG won, will Canelo not talk about this defeat and says that he should have won it? We will see, too much at stake in this fight.

Maybe Canello is somehow compelled to talk about the fight with Bivol in this way because the result of this fight completely destroyed his "legacy/greatness" that he carefully built over the years (avoiding risky fights). Everyone saw that he was much weaker than Bivol, but Canelo can't admit it. As for the Golovkin fight, there's a lot at stake only if Canelo loses - it would be the end of his career. But if Canelo wins, it won't mean anything because Golovkin is no longer at the age to be considered a serious opponent among the tops.
Steam.

527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Take This 2 Minutes Nine Step Quiz To Access Yourself In Gambling on: July 06, 2022, 03:02:10 PM
Have you assessed yourself on what kind of gamblers are you, this quiz which is a 2-minute nine-step quiz that will assess you on what kind of gamblers are you after you take the risk to be sure to answer the poll so the community will know how many of us here are Non-Problem Gambler, Moderate-Risk Gambler or High-Risk Gambler.

Quote
This self-assessment is based on the Canadian Problem Gambling Index. The higher your score, the greater the risk that your gambling is a problem.
Self Assessment Quiz

Thank you for the link to the survey, but it seemed to me as idiotic as possible. Here is my result:

Quote
Moderate-Risk Gambler
If you scored in this range, you may already be experiencing some problems related to your gambling, like feelings of guilt or regret. Take some time to consider how much you’re spending, and be aware of how often you’re playing. If you feel like you want to make a change, or just want more information, there is help available.

I turned out to be a "Moderate-Risk Gambler" because I answered questions two and seven, "Sometimes." These are the questions:

Quote
2When you think of the past 12 months, how often…
Have you needed to gamble with larger amounts of money to get the same feeling of excitement?
7When you think of the past 12 months, how often…
Have you felt guilty about the way you gamble, or what happens when you gamble?

The fact is that larger bets give more emotions, and the same bet amount is addictive and boring (this is about the second question).
There is nothing wrong with thinking about whether it is right to spend money on gambling in general and feeling guilty about it (it's about the seventh question), when I buy ice cream, I also think about it and feel guilty (diet and all that) but this does not mean that I have problems with being overweight - on the contrary, I try to avoid them as I am a conscious person.
528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inherited gambling on: July 06, 2022, 02:30:42 PM
I think, in general, it's harder for people to stop their addiction when it's genetic. Most of the time, they will always come back to what makes them happy or what makes them feel fulfilled or something. It will be hard to overcome that, but that's just how you will know how strong the person is with willpower.

Comparing them to someone who has just gotten into the habit it's doing it is challenging. I think there's no significant difference.

I think that there is a fundamental difference - in one case, you can correct the habit (behavior pattern) simply by abstaining and "forgetting" about the addiction, in the other case, no matter what you do, the "addiction" remains at the genetic level and this must be controlled all your life in order to avoid it. However, I have big doubts about the fact that there is some kind of genetic predisposition to gambling addiction.
529  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Government Owned Online Casinos What Do You Think Of Its Potential on: July 06, 2022, 02:08:40 PM
wrong mate , because gamblers will still gamble no matter who runs the site , either private casinos or government owned and runs casino> those gambler will still find money and time to gamble so why not the government get that advantage?

addiction in gambling is exploring over the world , and as long as government is allowing gambling in their region ? addiction will continues , if you dont wanna deal with addiction then tell those countries to totally banned gambling so in that way maybe gamblers will be lessen.

In fact, it is very important who manages the casino and I think that most gamblers will avoid state-owned casinos and go either to competitors or to the black market altogether (thanks to the Internet and cryptocurrencies make this easy). When you play in a state-owned casino, you most likely need to be immediately ready for KYC, paying taxes on every win and monitoring your financial transactions - what kind of person needs this?
530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is for big bag holders on: July 06, 2022, 01:38:36 PM
Its because you are also trying to win a big bag that's why you thought it's only for big bag holders.
That kind of game plan does need a large amount of capital to say it's a successful one. With a low percentage given by the house for you to hit a "win" in dice you will need like 50 times more bets. At what amount to bet will that be at that instance? Maybe tens of thousands of dollars.
I will look for other strategies if you cannot reach that amount because you are using luck basis if you think you will hit it in 10 bets.

If you start at 40 cents like the OP did, and then double down on a loss, a 10-loss streak will result in a $409.6 bet (and you're only claiming 40 cents). A streak of 15 losses will result in a bet of $13,107. That's a lot of money considering we have to risk it to win the initial 40 cents. Therefore, casinos love those who play Martingale - as a result, everything ends with a big loss and all the money remains in the casino.

Jeremy вторым постом вывалил какой-то странный текст про ограничения в участии в конкурсах:
If you are NOT enrolled in a Signature/Avatar Campaign

or

If your account is Newbie status, chances are you are NOT eligible for my on-site Prediction Contests (obviously there are exceptions).

Thank you for your understanding as we keep my contests Fun, Fast and Fair!

532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Finding value bets on: July 05, 2022, 03:10:31 PM
I will speak from my own experience:

Until some time when I watched a soccer game, it was normal for a team to be winning by 2 - 0 and the odd was at @1.12 I thought: "if I bet and guaranteed victory" but to my shock and that when I reached 72 minutes the team that was losing the game managed to draw and win the game, it was something shocking. so I thought: " I'm going to start placing bets with odds of @1.50 and I could even win some games, but I only had to lose 2 games for all my victories to become useless, so I changed to odds of @2.00 and realized the following: a bet value is one in which the person knows that if he wins his effort to keep doing analysis it will be rewarded, and the person will be in profit in the long run

Everyone has gone through this experience - "guaranteed" bets are the most frustrating since you win little and a bad outcome ruins the profits from a range of bets you've painstakingly accumulated before. Now I also choose big odds plus I try to bet if the favorite is in a losing position - in the end he is still the favorite, but the odds of him winning become attractive.
533  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Any changes experienced within body - Gambling??? on: July 05, 2022, 02:38:35 PM
It is common for most people when they are losing in the game they get angry and then when they are winning they start to laugh, this starts to become a habit that even when they are not playing, they are in front of some conversation they get angry when someone say something they don't like and get happy seconds later when they're right about something in the conversation

I have participated in many debates on various forums and on Twitter, so I would not say that this behavior is typical for gamblers. I think this is common to all people, but only a few have the necessary intellectual resource to overcome this stupid pattern, and most do not. On the other hand, maybe they initially treat conversations as entertainment, so they give a splash of emotions (and then I'm wrong about them haha).
534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: July 05, 2022, 01:21:03 PM
I disagree that Brazil is not a strong contender, because if you look at their team I feel that they’re the favourites to lift the cup, and I’m planning to wager on them a lot. Lastly I don’t think that France will win after seeing their poor performance in the nations league, hence that’s one team I’m going to avoid wagering on unless they drastically improve their performances.

The problem with betting on favorites is that many, like you, will bet massively on them and this will affect the bookies - the favorites will be quoted very little. Given that Brazil is not required to win every game in the group stage, and in the playoffs a team can, for example, win in extra time, it remains a big question whether the profit from betting on the favorites is worth the risk.

Many of us who play casinos, suffer more or less. Many are blaming it again that it is a money-losing machine. In this regard I would like to share a success history by playing casino game. It is only for knowing the truth especially those are don't know the fact.

Many of us may know the name of an international courier service known as FedEx. This courier service company headquarter is in Tennessee, USA. FedEx currently distributes about 1.2 billion parcels a year in 220 countries with an annual revenue of about 3 billion. Smith, founder of FedEx, started his business with 84 million us dollar. At that time he started operations in 35 countries with 8 planes. But at one stage, the price of plane fuel increased and that contemporary time courier service did not become very popular. His company is on the verge of bankruptcy. Smith come back to Las Vegas feeling sad. At that time Las Vegas was known as the capital of casinos. He had only $5,000 when he entered a casino with a depressed mind. His destiny was revealed. He earned about $27,000 with in a week. Smith come back to FedEx headquarter and invest his money on his company even though his money was not enough to run the company but with his hard work and enthusiasm he arranged to send all the parcels. in this way he established his company.

This is really a good success of smith as well as FedEx with the favor of Casino. By the way, i am not sharing it to encourage anyone to the casino.

An interesting story, but I would not agree with the conclusions that are suggested here. It seems to me that the main figure here is the founder of the company, and circumstances may not have played any role at all - for example, if he had lost these 5,000 dollars, then I think he would not have been upset. On the contrary, he would clear his mind of doubts and stupid ideas about winning at the casino and in the same way would work with tripled energy and still succeed.

Last night, Djokovic, one of the best tennis players on grass out there (potentially he is the favorite to win in Wimbledon) - had odds of 1.25 at peak against Timmy, after Timmy won one set.
Would you see that 1.25 as a value bet or not?

What if a tennis player in Wimbledon or some other big tournament, quickly goes 40-0 and you have him @ 1.10 to win the game (not the match, just that 40-0 game) - can this be a value bet?

What about a basketball match, the total line is 180.5 and the game in live goes 150.5 - is it worth taking the "over" because the line has dropped 30 points below the original line?

How do you define value in general?

Betting on Djokovic was definitely not value bet yesterday. It seems to me that after Timmy equalized the score in sets, it was necessary to bet on him, since in fact he was able to equalize the game, but the odds for his victory were very large, since Djokovic remained a clear favorite. In the end, Djokovic won, but if he lost, then everyone who bet on him with a seemingly good odds of 1.25 would lose a lot of money - the profit was not worth the risk.
538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To build your Professionalism on casino on: July 04, 2022, 12:07:04 PM
A person needs to think deeply about a few things before starting gambling in online. Adherence to these principles a gambler have more chances of getting success in gambling platform which can make a gambler responsible from the start.

Things to obey:

1. A gambler should gambling as an entertainment, not as a way to make money or the earning source of money.

2. Don't try to bet with your everyday life leading money which is very much needed or can't afford to lose  like billing, rent, food or something like that.

3. You should Understand the potential of the game, embrace it wisely and predict your chances of winning at that particular game.

4. It is more important to read the terms and conditions carefully other wise everything will be invalid.

5. No betting on YouTube reviews or anyone's advice. Prepare yourself to understand the advantage or disadvantage.

6. If you lose your assets then don’t pursue the losses.

I think your success in gambling will definitely visible if you follow the these instructions. Here  you can add your knowledge and experience for the flourishing to this concern.

I have seen lists like this many times and there are always points about "understanding the game, odds, etc.", but nowhere are there examples of real practical mathematical tricks to at least start converting odds into percentages of probability. For example, a large percentage of gamblers do not understand that odds 2 mean that an event will happen with a probability of (1/2) times the bookmaker's margin (approximately 5%) = 0.475 = 47.5% Understanding the elementary mathematics of gambling is very important along with the rest of the points.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: July 04, 2022, 11:47:56 AM
I think it's better when a couple of strong teams miss the tournament due to the high level of competition than when the tournament turns into a huge number of meaningless games (due to a large difference in the teams' classes) and interesting games can only be expected in the 1/4 finals. Even in the current tournament, the group stage will not be very interesting, and in the next one everything will be much worse.

Again, I need to disagree with you. We are already having meaningless games. Even top ranked teams from AFC and CAF are unable to compete against teams from CONMEBOL and UEFA. I will give you one example. Remember the Russia vs Saudi Arabia match during last world cup? (inaugural match). Russia destroyed Saudi Arabia with a 5-0 margin. Now Russia is not a top ranking team from the UEFA. And yet the match was completely one sided, despite the fact that Saudi Arabia is one of the strongest AFC teams.

Then I do not understand why you write that you do not agree with me? You repeat what I write: too many pointless games. And taking into account the change in the format of the World Cup, there will be much more of them. My opinion is that the old format is better, and it would be even better to switch to a new format where there are no weak teams at all in the final part. And I do not agree with the fact that, for example, African teams are weak - there have often been good teams from this region in history that have performed well at the World Cups - Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal, etc.
540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is for big bag holders on: July 04, 2022, 11:10:36 AM
I think @OP needs to learn proper bankroll management.

Here is a key pointer in one of the articles[1] I read on how important Proper bankroll management is.
Learning bankroll management can:
  • It ensures that we don’t chase our losses when on a losing streak.
  • It prevents us from getting carried away and staking too much when on a winning streak.
  • It allows us to withstand multiple losses without running out of money.
  • It enables us to make better and more rational betting decisions.
you can read further explanation on the link below

If you happen to understand and learn proper bankroll management you won't be creating thread like these saying that gambling is for big bag holders only.
-skip-

These tips work (in the sense that they allow you not to lose all the funds for a long time), but their implementation assumes that the player will not initially play Martingale. But will the player be satisfied with the fact that the volatility of his deposit is very small (which means that even if he is temporarily in the black, this will be an insignificant plus)? Using these tips, he will lose money in the same way, only at the same time he will most likely not receive additional adrenaline, since this will be a "reliable" game. In general, if we consider these tips regarding the desires of the average gambler, then they are very contradictory (maybe that's why few people follow them, although I'm sure everyone knows about them).
