521  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bit coin hit 25000 USD on: November 27, 2017, 10:59:31 AM
it is realistic to see bitcoin hitting the 25,000$ price mark.
it is supply and demand which applies to everything from art to crypto.
i also think there will be bumps along the journey too, big dumps and price rises also.
522  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How do you keep updated about the upcoming changes to the bitcoin network? on: November 21, 2017, 09:38:59 PM
this forum is for sure the place to find out what is going on,
i also use an app on my phone 'bitcoin headlines' for general news.

How do you keep updated about the upcoming changes to the bitcoin network?
I mean, changes like segwit, lightning-network, etc.
Is there some kind of "official" website for this kind of information?
And also, the technical details of these new upgrades, where can I read about that?
Thank in advance!

The best way by a long shot is the bitcoin dev mailing list:[/s]

https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-dev/

You can click on "thread" and see the different posts of interesting things that are happening and they are posted directly by bitcoin developers.

Every other sources is often politicized, there you can read stuff as it happens.

Thank you for the link, very interesting and such a wealth of information
523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone still believe in ETN? (Electroneum) on: November 21, 2017, 05:23:03 PM
I got sucked in by the ICO, tried mining, and discovered their forum (not even an official one...) where everyone is obviously ra ra HODL. Now there was a lot I really liked about the project but I'd like to hear from people who have been doing this much, much longer than me and are not necessarily as invested as the folks in the other forum (or on their FB page).

Can it rebound from all their security issues? Have other ICOs suffered this scale of failure to launch and then come back to become viable options in the crypto world? I mean - people talk about it as potentially being bigger than bitcoin but they can't even get their act together and release the wallets to legitimate investors....

Anyone able to give me concrete reasons why I should still believe in ETN?
i think i have missed something, what are the security issues?
this was my first ICO so i am becoming worried by this board.
i would hope that whatever issues are surfacing now are only temporary and once sorted and exchanges, trading, mining and useage are normal it would be good.
524  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: What do you think about an idea to open a new cryptocurrency exchange on: November 21, 2017, 04:26:38 PM
Hi

Just wondering will you guys use new exchange if there will be lower rate than on other platforms?
As well as which one do you prefer fiat to crypto or crypto to crypto or both together?

Reason that I am asking that we have in mind to develop new exchange with better UX/UI performance and usability, margin trading as well as with lower fee and better anonymity.

At beta test we will going to provide some amount of money to beta testers for trading.

What you think about the idea?  Roll Eyes

As I was developer in team of one exchange which is very successful now, I have in mind to create platform where you can :

  • store your wallet of BTC and ETH as well as for other coins.
  • Trade with coins.
  • Dev API for merchant development
  • Read news from cryptocurrency and blockchain world
  • Mobile app for all these things after successful beta test.
  • As well as if community will allow (you are ruler in this world) in this app you can buy BTC or other coins by fiat completely anonymously without any verification.

NOTE: this isn't any fraud (like rawx.io) or average exchange.

As new users are joining the crypto-markets every day, it increases the scope of Exchange.
Fiat to crypto exchanges has to adhere all local rules as per the law of that country, which is easy to understand by the local citizen. Seeing the new users coming....Fiat to Crypto exchanges will be soon short in no. as per the increasing demand. So opening Fiat to crypto is a wonderful idea and easier to get succeed in a short span of time.
yes i also agree that a fiat to crypto exchange is a good idea.
i would like to be able convert fiat to crypto and trade on the same exchange rather than converting fiat on one exchange and then transferring it to another
525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: newbies on: November 21, 2017, 11:18:26 AM
It would be a good idea to spend a lot of time on this forum.
any information you could possibly want is all here.....somewhere  Grin.
good advice above is to start with the top 10 coins and pick something from there and as you learn you will know more about other alternative coins.
526  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin Gold on: November 21, 2017, 09:49:25 AM
Replied for visibility, I also want to know.

If you are comfortable with using mobile wallets (i.e. coinomi), there is the option to import privat keys.

Apart from that, I've found little to nothing. The webwallet doesn't even have a send option…

yes coinomi has the BTG wallet on its offering.
you can import your private keys from your electrum wallet into the BTG wallet on coinomi.
it is a good idea to not use that electrum wallet after exporting the keys but to open a new one.
527  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Lightning network on: November 21, 2017, 09:44:37 AM
Just an oversimplified but nice article. Not mine Smiley

https://cointelegraph.com/explained/lightning-network-explained

thats great, a good simplified explanation.
So i understand that this has the potential to greatly minimize the massive amount of unconfirmed transactions?
528  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin price alerts for busy people on: November 21, 2017, 06:39:14 AM
Looks good. Neat idea.
Would it be possible to have the option to have an on screen alert instead of or with an email alert on a mobile version?
529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: November 20, 2017, 04:38:03 PM
I am new to IOTA and this is what I understand it to be:

a token but with no blockchain instead using a tangle technology

as the tangle gets bigger it becomes more secure

zero transaction fees

no miners

=======================================================

these are some of the good points, so what are the bad points with this?
530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What Altcoins will reach $1000+ in the future? on: November 20, 2017, 04:25:16 PM
I think most people overlook the most important, the market cap, most of these coins will not hit $100 talkless of $1000. but I feel Ethereum and Dash are two potential for this new height

I have to agree here. Market cap is a terrible way to value a coin, but we can't ignore it when trying to estimate this kind of pricing. For coins to even reach $100 is a huge feat, so I would put it past those below $100 to even try and reach $300 or $500. Ethereum, Dash and even Zencash are then the ripe candidates. Bitcoin Cash already met this valuation (and a bit unfairly I would say) so that's out of the equation. I wouldn't ignore coins like Monero either, though a more realistic push is for $300 (and that's optimistic!).

i would agree.
at the moment dash and ethereum are to ones likely to rise to 1000$.
at a bigger stretch maybe Zcash and Monero and possible Byteball (based on its current value?) would be able to reach in the future.
its all about adoption really and other factors like new projects coming along with a newer and better way of doing the same job as an older coin.
531  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the anti government on: November 20, 2017, 03:49:30 PM
It is a general term I think, 'anti government' and can be expanded to be 'anti establishment' to include the financial institutions which seem to do their own thing with 'our' funds.
just go back to 2007 when the sh1t hot the fan and there was financial chaos all because of how the banks were run on the lead up to that.
many many people lost a lot and many many people who had not contributed to the corruption are still paying for it.
these factors infleuenced to creation of bitcoin and why so many people are not willing to get burned again
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] INDAHASH ICO: WORKING APP, 130 PERSON TEAM, 7 OFFICES, 300 000 INFLUENCERS on: November 20, 2017, 07:47:24 AM
Hi guys,
what is revolutionary in your project? only in tokens? it seems to me that now brands also cooperate with opinion leaders, organize marketing activities, but they pay with fiat money. How will INDAHASH change the work between brands and bloggers/opinion leaders?
correct, this is a pure token aimed at the 'infleuencer' market or sector. It offers infleuencers and their audience a chance to gain crypto indahash tokens or fiat.
If the market sees benefits in using the token then it will be more successful. It can create an economy inside a niche sector.
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC price 100 USD? on: November 18, 2017, 11:20:38 PM
It is possible that it will reach 100$ but looking at the litecoin charts on bittrex it looks like a slow steady riser,
it is just a matter of time
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] INDAHASH ICO: WORKING APP, 130 PERSON TEAM, 7 OFFICES, 300 000 INFLUENCERS on: November 18, 2017, 10:57:37 PM
I have not seen a bounty campaign other than this signature campaign at the moment.

Just looking back over the reddit pages and noticed this graphic,

We are on phase 2 now, THE MAIN ICO which ends DEC.

What are the thoughts, are we going to fill the ICO?

So there will be another round for ICO? Thought the ICO already ended? So the first one is the Pre-ICO and the other one you were talking about is the main ICO? Or just 2 rounds of ICO?
we are in the second phase of the project, the main ICO.
If you follow the https://indahash.com/ico and click 'key dates' the project roadmap will outline what is planned
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP PREDICTIONS? on: November 17, 2017, 03:30:16 PM
Hello! I am looking to invest in xrp.
Current price is 0.22$
Do you think next year it would rise to 3-5$?

it is difficult to say with ripple
i have read older boards about it with some bad reviews about it here on the forum.
just today i also read on a news article that american express are partnering  with ripple https://www.cnbc.com/2017/11/16/american-express-santander-team-up-with-ripple-on-blockchain-platform.html
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Electroneum a SCAM??? on: November 17, 2017, 03:21:05 PM
They just need to get on one of the bigger exchanges and I think that things can turn around quick  Cool
I agree. I was telling my son about the simulated  mining app/game and he told his friends in school. They're all excited about being able to earn a crypto currency (like bitcoin) and be able to send to each other through their phones, this thing could go super viral very fast.
totally agree with this, it has the potential to mushroom.
it will just take adoption and lots of it and there is no better way to have it adopted than to have the hungry for tech younger generation get into it.
and if they are being rewarded and can trade something easily its all win win for everybody involved

538  Economy / Speculation / Re: A word to the wise on: November 17, 2017, 12:54:00 PM
HODL tight! As soon as off-chain scaling gets implemented and Bitcoin futures start trading on CME, big daddy is going to the moon! Cream always rises to the top.

If you fold, too bad. Don't say you weren't warned.

People have been promising off-chain scaling for years on end. It hasn't materialised, As for segwit - hardly anyone bothers to use it.

Scaling will happen - but it will happen in an alt. Alredy Ethereum does more transactions per day than bitcoin. And all the other alts are waiting in the wings, such as Monero, Bitcoincash, and others.
i am not sure the off-chain scaling is going to be the driving factor,
i think it is going to be Bitcoin futures start trading on CME and other traders from traditional fiat trading get more involved that will drive the price.
i have read here somewhere that people are actually thinking this will be a bad thing for these new traders and speculators to be getting involved?
539  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin still reach $8k this year? on: November 17, 2017, 12:47:40 PM
Why not ?
I hear the rumor that segwit2x fork is canceled is just a lie, and segwit will continue so I think bitcoin price will rise to $ 8000 easily this month or next month Grin
the game still on , some people behind this issue don't know accidentally play with the market or not. the segwit issue indeed has a big influence on those people who looking for acquire more bitcoin to get doubled with the hard fork event.

i wish no drama anymore , and bitcoin just grow naturally. not grow by a lie.
yes i think bitcoin will grow naturally because more and more people are finding out about it through positive and negative news.
new 'investors' are getting involved to make more fiat money for themselves. you know the ones that dont really care about crypto in general.
so overall yes i am confident we will see the price of 8000$
540  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin Upcoming events? on: November 16, 2017, 05:24:08 PM
It sounds like a good addition to have here on bitcointalk actually other than the usual announcements boards.
Are you looking for something in particular?

This thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2367578.msg24185367#msg24185367 was asking everyone about what additions they would like to see on the forum.
to answer you question directly, i dont think there is one specific location other than the top crypto news sites.
