523  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the fastest way to buy bitcoin? on: August 05, 2013, 12:04:42 AM
You can buy them fast on ebay
I've heard of sellers asking for payment as a 'donation/gift' and sending no coin in return.
524  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the fastest way to buy bitcoin? on: August 04, 2013, 10:37:45 PM
Hi,

I know that Mt.Gox offers exchange services.  However, they take to long due to the wire transfers that are required.  Is there a faster mechanism out there for exchanges?

Thanks.

Buy 1 BTC and we each get .01 extra for free!

525  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Would you buy a wireless internet router with built in ASIC chips? on: August 04, 2013, 08:40:38 PM
1) You use a router anyways.

2) It's always plugged in and powered on.

3) It's always connected to the internet.

What if you could buy a router that double functioned as a bitcoin miner? With, say, 1 GH/s? Would you buy one? How much would you be willing to pay?

I wish I could run a hub of block erupters off of my roku. That's on all the time too =D
526  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: YES, you can get a REFUND from BFL on: August 04, 2013, 07:14:25 PM
I wonder if it would be considered legal (however unethical) to get the miner, use it for mining 7 days, then asking a refund (continuing to mine until it arrives), then send it back.
I'm not suggesting to do such a thing, just wondering.

Except the BFL would have had your money for over a year while you wait for the product. In reality, BFL would be the one that comes out ahead.
Sure.
I wasn't talking about BFL, I was wondering if "in general" this exploit might work.
Assuming "they" actually do deliver the product you ordered.
Of course BFL doesn't deliver so this doesn't apply.

You could mine while you wait for it to resell on eBay. People paying stupid prices there.

I need something to replace these erupters with...

Why replace the Erupters at all ? What is the harm in keeping them mining considering their negligible electrical use ?

Fair enough -- I need something to supplement the block erupters with =D

Obviously the pressure on PayPal works.

Since the payment was charged by Paypal to my VISA, I was wondering if asking for a refund to VISA would put more pressure on them to have a deep look at BFL.

Anybody has a similar experience?

If people are able to get refunds from PayPal, do we want them to take a "deep look" at BFL? I haven't placed an order with them yet, but realize that the alternatives that ship which I am currently mining with (blockerupters) are not going to hit ROI.

If people can get refunds AND BFL doesn't go bankrupt AND they are able to really ship a product in two weeks, would that not be the best scenario? I need something to replace these erupters with...

533  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Other Useful coins? on: August 03, 2013, 07:44:27 PM
Will primecoin be the first semi useful coin?  The proof concept there for cal. primes.  Will next be Curecoins or other?  Any other useful coins in the horizon?

I merge mine NMC...

Just sent an email to fraud@paypal.com explaining everything.

I asked for a refund to BFL and they rejected. Then I filed a Dispute in PayPal and was rejected because of the 45 days window. Let's try now with the email to fraud.

If I get a refund I will inform you.

You'll have better luck with a phone call.  It worked for me.

unless they say no, then you need in writing for paypal dispute.

Huh  I find it ironic that a group of bitcoiners are sitting around applauding paypal for returning money to a customer.   Roll Eyes
even more ironic that I just purchased a block erupter in a group buy that only takes paypal. And there, one or two people cried "SCAM!"

As I said in that thread, tho...escrow is what Paypal does best. As a long time seller and buyer, ive gotten both refunds and chargebacks. Geting more involved in bitcoin, it becomes increasingly evident that this is an area that remains in need of some improvement.
536  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [CLOSED] $58 SHIPPED! ASICminer Block Erupter USB Groupbuy #1 - 300+ on: August 03, 2013, 02:13:00 AM
I printed labels tonight for all smaller domestic orders so they should have Tracking numbers in Paypal. International Shipments and larger order tracking will be updated on Monday when all the orders ship.

Thanks!
Quite honestly the easiest block erupter transaction (presuming it arrives functional), to date. I'm getting sick of coinbase denying my BTC buys for "security reasons", it's quite aggravating when time is of the essence with these buys.

I'll update again, but for any skeptic(s), very smooth transaction. After all, escrow is what PayPal does best.
537  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: What's going on with Deepbit? Site not loading on: August 02, 2013, 03:38:21 PM
Maybe it's because you're one of the last 3 people still mining on Deepbit lol. Seriously though, I stuck with them for a couple years and when I switched to Slush's pool I started getting about 10% more BTC with the same speed at the same difficulty....
Once I hit next cash out i'm done with them. Was just waiting for someone like you to ask me why I'm still with them, when I have no idea myself.

Thanks for the feedback

What a great way to get erupter when you are short of coin.  That and paypal removes all the risk ...

I am testing the waters with one.

Same for me. Order placed!

www.bitinstant.com is out of service in case you haven't found out.

Coinbase.com is an option for USD, but there is a 7 day lead time to receive the BTC.

Level 2 verification gets it to you almost instantly.  It may take up to 8 hours in on-the-way-to-your-wallet limbo (one time instance), but from bank account > wallet is usually less than 30 minutes, prices not based on Gox.
Yep, once you get through the 30 day period, 50btc per day is the limit, and instantly too.  if nothing else, it's worth to go though with it, just to have this as an option in  the future.
Just in case... you never know what is coming next.  Grin
Going through the process as we speak, to pay back a buddy who lent me for one of your sticks =) Got the eligius model...did those go out Monday? I'm in CT.

I put in my first order on coinbase down at like 89, now I'm locked out from doing ANYTHING for 7 days until the transaction clears. Luckily I have two checking accounts but I would have bought more on this huge run up we're seeing. Oh well.
