521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are privacy coins already dying on: October 23, 2022, 04:04:15 PM
I haven't heard any good news about privacy coins this days, it seems that people are losing interest in privacy coins because of regulation? Also privacy coins have bad performance compared to other altcoins, what is going on? Can privacy coins survive on the long run?

I have found an article that handles the subject quite well. You might wanna take a look.

The future looks grim for privacy-centric coins but this doesn't mean that they will cease to exist or that they have become unattractive. While regulation may have been stifling developments on the privacy side, there will always be those who will look for this sort of technology and those who will improve it further. There will always be demand for privacy-centric coins, and where there is a will, there is a way! Due to this, the price may surge for the ones who outstand the clampdown.
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency and Gambling on: October 23, 2022, 03:07:03 PM
It's perfectly understandable for the average joe to see cryptocurrency as gambling because they miss the whole point of the technology and end up losing money. Moreover, trading cryptos is a risky business and anyone without any kind of financial knowledge of how markets work will inevitably lead to heavy losses. It is a little bit like gambling because if you do not have any control over your emotions you will certainly lose what you have and what you cannot afford to lose. The correlation here is that at one time you may win a lot of money but right after that if you do not know when to step out, you will most certainly be at a loss.
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Repeat History ? on: October 23, 2022, 12:54:17 PM
I am looking the charts of bitcoin to make some trade on it and found a historical turning point on it what you guys are thinking about it check and leave your opinions.

Thanks Smiley Smiley

It's more than accepted that the Bitcoin price follows a 4-year cycle in which the prices breach through the previous highs and then the price finds a new All-Time High, This has been so since 2009. Unfortunately, it's also accepted that every cycle comes to an end and this may also be true when it comes to the Bitcoin price. Bitcoin has endured so much since its inception, however, regulation is now becoming an enormous hindrance and nobody knows how CBDCs will impact the cryptocurrency Industry once many countries follow through. Right now, it is all a big IF. I still feel we will see new highs soon or in the worst-case scenario, we may be in for a neverending downfall.
524  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigerian Man Won $51,000 in Sports Betting With a Bet of Just $1.072 on: October 23, 2022, 12:01:39 PM
Last week, on the 14th of October, 2022, A Nigerian Man used 800 naira (which is equivalent to $1.072 in today's NGN/DOLLAR exchange rate) to bet on sports...

He later won a whopping 38,317,137 Nigerian naira (which is equivalent to $51,363.454 in today's NGN/DOLLAR exchange rate).

         ....How luckier can one get?😁😁😁

Below is a quote of the entire article

Quote
An unidentified man has become a multi-millionaire after placing a bet on sports betting site with only N800.

The man, who instantly became a celebrity in a viral video, was seen with neigbhours trooping to the betting centre to confirm his N38million win after words spread out.

The system screen showed the man placed the multiple bet on Friday, October 14, 2022 with N800 only and won N38,317,130.00

After confirming his win, the man headed straight to the mosque to perform ‘Salat’ (daily obligatory prayer for Muslims). The crowd that had gathered to confirm his win followed him to the mosque, kept hailing him even as he ignored them and carried on with ablution for his prayers.

Wow, the guy was very lucky. What are the chances of making like 50k times more than your stake?? This was incredibly amazing and I feel very happy for the guy. I take it that this sort of amount of cash in Nigeria is a lot of money, so this will be like a new beginning for this guy. I hope he knows what to do with his money because normally when someone who is not used to having a lot of money finds himself with that kind of money on his hands, might take him to go for the wrong choices. Hope this never happens and I Wish him all the best!

527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: The first ever Gambling Metaverse on: October 22, 2022, 04:07:31 PM

I am just hearing about this Dragon's Tale game today. However, I just checked the site and as per my initial thoughts, this is not a metaverse. 3D games or virtual games do not define the true definition of metaverse. Metaverse would be real where you will physically go while still remaining at your home. We might not understand this logic today but with 5G internet, the imagination will be limitless. It just a matter of time when the world will be transformed into a metaverse.
[/quote]

I guess that's debatable. IMO, Dragon's tale is much like an embryo of what the Metaverse is today when compared to decentraland or Sandbox. If you take a look at the Metaverse significance "In futurism and science fiction, the metaverse is a hypothetical iteration of the Internet as a single, universal and immersive virtual world that is facilitated by the use of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) headsets. In colloquial use, a metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds focused on social connection." it does imply that online games such as Dragon's tale which is capable of gathering thousands of players in the same virtual environment are in fact an embryonic depiction of the Metaverse.
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: The first ever Gambling Metaverse on: October 22, 2022, 03:41:58 PM
I’m not aware of this but this project is really very old and outdated already. The graphics based on the images on the website looks like retro games in era of battle realms and vice city vibes. The game is only playable via windows game but I doubt that the developers is still incentivizing all players with Bitcoin since this is already pretty outdated.

Do you try it personally? I’m gonna test right sfter I run the app using my virus checker just to make sure I’m not downloading a game with virus on it. Thanks for sharing this gem

Yeah, I have played it for quite a while. A lot of people were actually able to win some coins out of this but I have never made it. I still hold my old account, you can try to find me in case you instal it and start playing the game. I recently installed it again and got in a couple of times eve though the game seems to be pretty silent.

https://livecoins.com.br/censura-deve-ser-tolerada-vitalik-buterin/

530  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / The first ever Gambling Metaverse on: October 22, 2022, 03:22:10 PM
I do not know if any of you guys remember, but the whole idea of metaverse is not new. Long before the metaverse hype, Second life had already introduced the concept and kept its leadership in the industry until very recently. Anyways, the concept was adopted by Dragon's tale, which was the first-ever Gambling metaverse Casino in the cryptocurrency space and where many players could get a lot of bitcoins simply by completing missions and treasure hunts.

Is anyone still playing Dragon's Tale today?
531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: October 22, 2022, 12:36:37 PM
Way Before El Salvador, the first country legally accepting Bitcoin as a legal Tender was actually Japan back in 2016. You guys can check the story here:
...
Besides, Germany was the first to recognise Bitcoin as private money and later as legal tender.

Those articles are not accurate.

Japanese law only makes it legal to use cryptocurrencies for payment. It does not require anyone to accept cryptocurrencies.

Germany declared Bitcoin as a "unit of account" and "private money", but not as "legal tender".

I guess it comes down to your definition of "legal tender". In the U.S., "legal tender" means it must be accepted for payments of debt, taxes, and dues. In El Salvador, not only is Bitcoin "legal tender" by that definition, but it must also be accepted for payments (when possible).

Ok, you may say that there is somewhat a big difference, but what we need to grasp here is that El Salvador was not the first country to allow for Bitcoin to be used as money, Even though it is not considered legal tender in Germany or in Japan, it actually works pretty much the same as legal tender. For me, this is the same as saying the colour is Red or it is Claret...
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tornado Cash sanctions as the beginning of the end of privacy coins? on: October 21, 2022, 05:31:13 PM
The issue with Tornado Cash is something that the community needs to put its eyes on. This is basically what could happen to privacy centric coins. As long as the ethereum network is censoring this sort of coins and other transactions it loses all its purpose and the guidance of the main Satoshi's idea. If the community accepts this, the real purpose of cryptos has been broken.
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need help with bch on: October 21, 2022, 10:50:55 AM
OK, so i have a wallet.dat file that once had 274bch but 250 was moved. And so if you open up the file in notepad, in the first group labeled address history, it lists all the addresses that belong to my private key, correct? Well at the end of the list is an address which when you look it up on the block chain explorer, shows the 24bch left, however when I import the wallet it shows a zero balance. What gives?

You should have them on the wallet if it is the same chain. It may be that you are watching the BEP 20 chain and the coins are on the BCH chain and your wallet is only setup to receive BEP 20. This already happen to me. If you are not using the app you used to create the wallet in question you should install it again and then import your funds by using your seed phrase and then set up a new password. After that you should add the BCH chain and thicker to the wallet and you should have your coins back.

hope this helps
534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gala potential? on: October 21, 2022, 10:42:26 AM
I started buying Gala in January at 30p and it has recently dropped below 3p for the first time in over a year and I am wondering if I should keep DCA or cool off for a bit?

I have always believed it had great potential however at a 95% drop since its all time high it has got me wondering why such a drop? I know we are in a bear market but there are not many others that have dropped 95% and I am beginning to doubt if it is going to be as big as I thought it would be.

I have been buying weekly since the crash in June which has now given me an average buy of £0.055 which is pretty good but I have always thought Gala would reach £2 next bull run minimum but am not so sure now.

Just wondering what everyone thinks on this project and its potential in the next bull run?

I guess metaverse coins are the next big thing. I have been buying a few of them, namely, mana, Gala, Sand, Hero, and a few more. I believe these will get me some profits as 2023 will be the year of metaverse coins. Remember that the halving is coming soon and it will affect cryptos prices. 535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Solana be the next Ethereum??? on: October 20, 2022, 08:58:34 PM
Solana is a VC-funded business, while Ethereum is more akin to a protocol, a la Bitcoin.
Solana is conventional finance with a "crypto" veneer. Ethereum was a good-faith, second step expanding upon Satoshi's vision.

Even though Solana has some good features, it is still not a trusted network and will never be number one. As for Ethereum, as soon as it became POS, it quickly abandoned Satoshi's vision. Now, I say Ethereum will probably not hold its first-place position much longer. How can you trust a network that censors certain transactions?
536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 13 years ago... on: October 20, 2022, 05:36:00 PM
I only knew about bitcoin in late 2013. Back then the price was around $37 and I thouht it was expensive. Once I knew what bitcoin was I started to mine LTC and swaping it for BTC. I also started to find jobs online and demand payment in bitcoin. I was all about bitcoin so I have used it since 2013 as a means of value. My bad, because if I knew what I now know, I wouldn't have spent it that way and today I would be a rich man. At least I did my part and helped cryptos become mainstream....
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2024 Bitcoin Halving - What are Your Expectations!!! on: October 20, 2022, 05:25:01 PM

What is the Bitcoin Halving (Halvening)?
New bitcoins are issued by the Bitcoin network every 10 minutes. For the first four years of Bitcoin's existence, the number of new bitcoins issued every 10 minutes was 50. Every four years, this number is cut in half.

In 2012, the number of new bitcoins issued every 10 minutes dropped from 50 bitcoins to 25. In 2016, it dropped from 25 to 12.5. In the most recent May 11, 2020 halving, the reward dropped from 12.5 to 6.25 BTC per block.

In the upcoming 2024 halving, the reward will drop from 6.25 BTC per block to 3.125 BTC.

The next bitcoin halving is less than two years, to me, this period will be different because, for the first time, I really am paying attention to important aspects of btc and keeping myself updated as well.
I can't really say much about previous halving other than just reading about them (probably because I was not holding btc) but now is different because I have been accumulating in every little way I can.

So dear colleagues, What are your expectations? other than price increase  Cool
*Do you expect to see widespread adoption and acceptance?
*More involvement from big companies?
*More popular?
*Increase number of users?
*Any other.......

So far the behavior of bitcoin price has been pretty comparable to right after the halving in every halving. IMO the predictions are pretty much the same. The precentage of price increase will keep around the 10 to 15% after the halving, but we never know. We may see like a huge price increase before the halving as we may see it going down due to the increasing regulation pressure.
538  Economy / Gambling / Re: The History Of Gambling. on: October 19, 2022, 11:37:05 PM
Gambling is old enough. The first proof of people gambling for something that had value was first done in china around 200 bc. This is mentoned on the book of songs, an old book thta refers to many things related to the chinese society back then. You can read more here:

https://addictionrehabtoronto.ca/brief-history-gambling-people-started-gambling/#:~:text=Gambling%27s%20Earliest%20Evidence&text=The%20earliest%20time%20of%20when,component%20of%20a%20lottery%20game.
Gambling is not something that started from a particular region, I know that every region will have there own gambling history just like Rome where many people thinks that gambling started from. We need to take a lone at Egypt where was recorded that gambling had been for long during bc.
We all have different options when. We we start talking about gambling and getting to know and have a random ideas about the history, then we might not leave because gambling is so broad that we can't gather all these information.

I completely agree, however, I didnt said that gambling started from a particular region, what I said was that the first written proof ever recorded was "the book of songs" which was written in China. Nontheless this doesnt mean that it was something that started in China rather than it most probably was imported to china.

540  Economy / Gambling / Re: Regulations & Gambling projects on: October 19, 2022, 12:55:44 PM
When regulation takes a hit on crypto prob in few years from now what will happen to gambling projects like Roobet and others? I've discovered one gambling project claiming to be regulated but there is nothing to prove that, anyway, can regulation affects gambling projects in future that's all I seek.

Regulation will come sooner or later because governments dont want to be left behind and loose the chance of getting money. Governments are only here to make our lives difficult, that is all they are worth for. Its a bit like cryptos, in the begining it was not regulated, now they running after crypto legislation as they dont want to miss on profits

It's already here mate, I think it has been since 2018 if I'm not mistaken. It was just evident in the last couple of years. It started when regulators look for crypto exchanges and then mandated they to have KYC/AML.

And then it followed by crypto based online casino. It's that some of them are still very adamant to apply it to their users because they know there will be an uproar. Nevertheless they will have to follow what the regulators are mandated so definitely it will have to happen sooner than later.

Yeah, its already here, but for instance, I live in Portugal, and regulation here is still in a deadlock. They have already something built that will be under way next year perhaps. Menahwhile, we are already demanded to KYC our crypto accounts but things are still being discussed. In general, Portugal will adopt European Legislation criteria.
