There may be a silver lining to the FBI reading these forums. From reading the DPR indictment, I felt that they were careful to differentiate between the illegitimacy of silk road vs. the legitimacy of bitcoin. I suspect that some of these FBI guys may secretly have bitcoin fever just like us. This could (hopefully) undermine any full scale attack by the U.S. government against bitcoin.

Will it happen and when?

Years away, but not decades.

3 cancellations so far. I plan to keep trying to buy one bitcoin every couple weeks just to see if they ever fix their software.
525  Other / Politics & Society / Re: bitcoin is a prisoners dream, why no reports of use by inmates? on: October 20, 2013, 09:24:22 AM
I have a friend in prison since 1993. He justs laughs when people bring up the internet. He has never used it. Has no idea how it has changed the world. My understanding is that the prison uses it's own internal computer network that is not connected to the outside world. Occasionally, people do smuggle in cell phones, but that is pretty rare. As for bribing guards, they will trade favors with the gay inmates, no bitcoins needed. If you had a bitcoin wallet, the best thing would be to just sit on it, keep your head low, read a lot, wait till you are out, and enjoy spending your greatly appreciated bitcoins.

Ugh. Posting your email on the forums, advertising SR...paying for a hit on someone.. come on man.

Yes... paying for a hit on someone Huh, his image has gone from Entrepreneur Genius to Clever Thug. Hell, they even confiscated his bitcoins. Why weren't the majority of them in a brain wallet? And still living in the USA? He should have been living incognito in Russia or SE Asia by now.
