521  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin acting like proxy for Gold ? on: June 09, 2017, 11:03:17 PM
Bitcoin price is acting like it is related to the gold price. This is happening regardless of whether you or I think Bitcoin has or should have any inherent value.
Bitcoin may not be a wise store of wealth, but it is reaching and achieving Facebook-style dominating and recognition.
An even 1.0 Bitcoin to Gold Ratio was strong resistance for a long time, but now bitcoin has broken above it and the gold price may act as strong support.
Bitcoin has been acting like gold, not silver. And if bitcoin even began to move closer to the total market value of gold.

Gold is a money of goverments and rich people. Bitcoin is the first serious money of the internet.
In the earth exists some gold. In the universe exists much more.
In the earth exists at the time 16,381,700 bitcoins. In the universe exists nothing more! Max. supply is fix: 21,000,000 and not more.
The gold has a weight. Bitcoin has no weight - you can hold it on a piece of papier.
Gold can't be transported with a speed of the light. Bitcoin can do it.
Gold is visible for everybody - if you hold/transfer it. Bitcoin can be protected through cryptography.
Gold can be seized by the court. If you are clever - your bitcoin can't be seized.

Your arguments are very tangible, but I would like to get an answer to the question, What to do when at some point there will be no electricity or the Internet. The world has become so dangerous that every day you can expect some kind of cataclysms or even a warrior. And then what to do when high technologies can come to an end.

Bitcoin is money for Internet. Internet was planned to survive a war or a cataclysm. I know - some resource, i.e. bitcoin will went lost in such situation. But the remaining supply will be working. What should I tell more?

At this time exists some war in our earth. If somebody want survive there - it is easier escape with a piece of papier or with an usb stick or a mobile. As refugee it is not possible to rescue 1-2 kg gold and your life also. Later - in an other country maybe, i.e. in europe - it is possible to pay with bitcoin. Buy a house, and other things.

But if our civilisation ends - no more need for gold, silver, other money, electricity or internet also - I think.

The gateway will be linked to the forked Horizon? Will the currency I just created be updated on there?

The gateway is between NXT and Horizon. This fork - see above - not living. It will be not more exists, if all nodes, they just using it, make a restart.
If you created the currency before this fork - your currency is safe and living. Is your node updates the blocks? If yes - your node is on the living chain. (or an another, but living fork Smiley ) I wish you are lucky, and your currency not on a fork. You can check it with the Online Wallet (use your account address, and NOT your passphrase to log in):

http://nexthorizon.github.io/hz-source/

It was a question which exchange I using for the new Horizon Market. I choosed NXT Asset Exchange, and NOT Horizon Asset Exchange, because I see - NXT is more stable at this time. I hope - if the Market established - Horizon become more good new user, more nodes, more nodes, they forging and will be a stable currency.

What happened to this coin? couldn't find on Polo or Bittrex? Its neither on coinmarketcap, is it abandoned by developer?

polo and bittrex trades not more Horizon.

I found it on coinmarketcap:
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/next-horizon/

About developer I don't know anything - I made a fork on github, to save the sources (as first step):
https://github.com/ifinta/hz-source

As next step - I start to develop, and admin a gateway to NXT blockchain - to have a Market for Horizon:
https://www.mynxt.info/asset/14827982687132149115

The gateway needs to be tested. After test I will inform you about details. ((gateway addresses, process, ...))

I am not at home - I don't know what shows my node... But the blockexplorer of horizon seems to work:
https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=blocks

And shows actual blocks...
Please try to restart some nodes. Maybe it helps.

Aha, that block explorer is way behind my node, it claims the latest block is 978546, whereas my node's last block show, from back on the fourth, was block 983475 ... Which is also the black block my pool saw.

-MarkM-

I think your nodes on a fork... - on a fork, which not more growing... What is the date of the last block on your nodes?
527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [HZ] Horizon - Decentralized Asset Exchange on: June 09, 2017, 03:37:27 PM
I have not received any new blocks since the fourth of June, and all ten of my connected peers are shown as not being up to date.

Is there some kind of master-node system going on? If not, why cannot these ten peers, all of which are running the same version, version NRS NHZ V5.4, bring each other up to date?

Also, a node I run on another server hs the user interface showing but when I try to log on to it it claims it cannot connect to the server. What would cause that? Usually one can connect even if it has not gotten the entire blockchain.

Did NHZ become HZ and all the NHZ wallets were ported over?

NHZ is only a gateway asset on the NXT blockchain. It will be changed 1 NHZ : 1 HZ (with a small fee) through a gateway.
The process is simple:
 - you send on HZ blockchain HZ to a gateway address with an NXT address as remark.
 - On NXT blockchain (after some confirmations) you will become NHZ asset.
or back:
 - you send on NXT blockchain NHZ to a gateway address with an HZ address as remark.
 - On HZ blockchain (after some confirmations) you will become HZ coins.

On NXT blockchain you can trade NHZ to NXT as you wish.

And was there a coin swap from NFD to (N)HZ? Is this still available?

It was closed already - I think. How many NFD's you have?

And are there any buyers for this coin?

HZ is a very usable coin (a good clone of NXT) - it has an asset exchange on the HZ blockchain, you can vote on the HZ blockchain, you can issue an asset, or currency on the HZ blockchain, ... I think it will have buyers, if the gateway works.

I have an idea - I posted it in bitcointalk.org already ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1926978.0 ), and I trying to act for this target with Lykke, but I become a message:

(...)

I would like to buy/sell CHF against Bitcoin at this time...
Can you help me?

Have you tried to logout and re-login again? That helped many who had this message first (including myself).

I tried logout and re-login. It don't helps. The dialog came after trying to buy CHF again...

Okay, please send a quick mail to support@lykke.com - usually they react fast.

I'll also post it on the team-slack. Are you on IOS or Android?

O. I will do it.
Android. Why?

I found a new platform - Lykke.
They promise 0 fees...
I installed the app on my mobile.
The app shows the lowest ask and highest bid prices also. It is possible to buy/sell/store in wallet XAU (gold) and XAG (silver), ... and EUR, USD, CHF, ... and of course BTC.
As first step I will deposit 2 BTC to my Lykke app.

More about udoo quad:
https://shop.udoo.org/eu/quad-dual/udoo-quad.html

I installed Nxt (blockchain just downloaded...), Horizon, node - the versions see above.
I should test the gateway software also, and then ready for start... Be patient - it needs some time.
At this time the hardware has no UPS, but I plan to buy one. Udoo needs 12V - if you known a good 12V UPS, just post it...
Remarks are welcome.

Report:
 - I decided to act.
 - My funds on xapo (at this time): 3913.22 EUR (or 1.93450976 BTC)

Analyse:

   xapo
date eur btc rate
2017-05-23   3817   1,95724298   1950,192203525
2017-05-25   4121,06   1,81859392   2266,0693817782
2017-05-26   3916   1,9184341   2041,2481200162
2017-05-27   3637,66   2,07594834   1752,2883059797
2017-05-28   3913,22   1,93450976   2022,8484140602

I see a small lost in bitcoin and a small increase in eur. Not a good profit. This post isn't about profitable trading - but it isn't a target to loose the funds. Plus Xapo was sometimes unreachable.
Maybe Xapo not the best platform for this experiment, as mentioned oft in this thread.
I searching for other platform. Can you tell me better platforms for this target? Please post it, if you have ideas...

I am trying to transfer from "My private wallet" in lykke app some funds to my "trading wallet". It isn't succeeds. I become an error with "HOLD UP! We are experiencing technical problems. Please try again.". I would like to use Lykke, but I can't - because this issue. It is also not clear - where can I set up a transfer fee for bitcoin transfer... (( Without transfer fee isn't a safe to send bitcoins today... I think. )) Can you, please, help me?

I believe the "hold up - message" shows up when there is an overload. Lykke experiences a significantly increasing number of users and activity. That should hopefully be solved soon.

Fee: Lykke pays all fees. No need to worry about that.

Thank you. Good. I keep to try again and again. Maybe it helps after some times...

They're investigating. Most likely my guess it could be overload is wrong. Seems to be an issue when transferring from private to trading. Hope they'll have it fixed soon.

The issue remained. I can't move my funds between wallets. I tried to move to another wallet (to my safe mycellium), but I become some problem. Nothing works... I am waiting...

It is just succeeded... (the fund not arrived yet, but the start of the transfer was successfully)
