521  Economy / Gambling / Re: How do you guys hide these websites? on: July 08, 2011, 01:37:06 PM
Most of these sites are NOT hidden, because the operators are going by the assumption that the sites are not illegal. The assumption is that because Bitcoins aren't legally recognized as "money", it isn't really gambling. There are some of these sites that have the operator's real address on them.

If you don't buy that argument, you can Google "anonymous vps". You'll find some services based in foreign countries that don't care what you put on your Web site. Most of them accept Liberty Reserve, which turns out to be easy to convert Bitcoins into, and it's also easy to prevent LR from being linked to your real identity.

Your self-serve site submission form doesn't include a field for the URL.
523  Economy / Gambling / Re: Jacks or Better Video Poker -- Be the next winner! 99.54% payout! on: July 08, 2011, 04:12:08 AM
I've reduced the size of the images (almost none of them are over 10K now), and added a long-term cache directive to the images and the sounds, so that browsers stop asking about them every time you click "DRAW". It made a world of difference, both in terms of game speed and apparent bugginess. In fact, I've removed the card-loading page.

Only the person who really did deposit that money can tell me which address the money went to.
525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Expect bitcoin to be "banned" - expect the ban to be ignored on: July 04, 2011, 04:19:55 AM
how does a politician go about banning something that is good for 99.99% of the non-banker population?

Since when has a politician put the interests of the individual over the bankers and central planners?

when his re-election depends on it.

Voters were vehemently opposed to the 2008 bailout. Politicians did it anyway. Voters' response (and their likely electoral response to a Bitcoin ban):

Yet another exchange should result in even thinner trade volume, as that volume can only come from other already thinly-traded exchanges (assuming that Bitcoin is no longer attracting new participants).
527  Economy / Gambling / Abandoned funds on my site. on: July 04, 2011, 03:45:45 AM
Several hours ago, someone went to my video poker site, deposited 0.2 BTC, lost half of it, and then left without withdrawing the remaining 0.1 BTC. If this is your 0.1 BTC, please play it or withdraw it. If you are unable to withdraw it because your session cookie was deleted, PM me with the deposit address you used, and a return address.

US users can get plenty of exposure to un-Americanised English if they spend enough time on the Internet.
529  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cool thing to do on: July 01, 2011, 06:53:46 PM
People seem more interested in the pyramids than any other games or sports betting. I wonder if I should abandon my video poker offering and just put up a pyramid. Sad

530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: We Need Roulette on: July 01, 2011, 06:34:38 PM
I would say you're absolutely right. However, some people believe that the government won't count Bitcoin gambling as really being gambling. Hence, you have Dragon's Tale, which is hosted in Pennsylvania, and Bitcoin Gamer, which is run by a company chartered in Kentucky (and includes a simple Roulette game). If they're wrong, they won't find out until the government decides to crack down on gambling, and then you'll see scrambling.

Hosting legally in Europe or the UK requires a license so expensive that the back-up money for the game would be the least of your concerns. You'd still get arrested by US authorities, however, even if your site is abroad.

These legal concerns are why I host on TOR.

By far the hardest part of making a Roulette game would be making a wheel that doesn't look like shit. (Bitcoin Gamer's Roulette wheel looks like garbage).  By far the easiest way to get acceptable graphics for Roulette would be to write an OpenGL-based downloadable client-- but people should be afraid to download something like that, because you could bundle a wallet stealer with that.

You could of course buy a system such as Real Time Gaming. That is what most of the established casinos do.
531  Economy / Gambling / SCAM alert! "BitPoker! v1.93" on: July 01, 2011, 06:02:54 AM
Someone has duplicated the visual appearance of my web site by copying the HTML, CSS, and a few of the images. However, this Web site comes with absolutely NO back-end, and hence does NOT host a playable game. It's just a static HTML page with the scammer's Bitcoin address as the address for adding credits:

    http://56twxq4s4hogh2ae.onion/

Evidence that it's a scam and not a gambling site:

  • In spite of having a mangled version of my JavaScript code, which (when not mangled) submits to the same "index.cgi" backend as my site, there is no index.cgi on the scammer's server.
  • There are no card images on the scammer's server, except my card-back image. Card faces would be needed to implement the game.
  • The scammer's site does not generate cookies or do anything to distinguish one browser from another. That means that even if making a game was attempted, it would be impossible to distinguish your session from mine if we both attempted to play at the same time.
  • With no back-end to generate the page, the Bitcoin deposit address that appears on the page there must be static.
  • The site is presented as if it was a finished and working game on TORDIR.

I wouldn't chalk connection problems up to your browser. It's more likely that the tor2web.org gateway was running slow, or even my own TOR connection (TOR is both slow and unreliable). I had no trouble loading from tor2web.org just now.

I did receive a 0.04$ payment when i hit the cashout button, assuming that payment came from your site of course

You do use a new address for every transaction, don't you?  Smiley

If your balance doesn't read 0, then the cash-out didn't come from me (or your browser is failing to update the balance).
533  Economy / Gambling / Re: Jacks or Better Video Poker -- Be the next winner! 99.54% payout! on: June 28, 2011, 06:16:25 AM
There are a number of inactive sessions with money in them. Care to help me identify yours? Your deposit address would be sufficient. Use the contact form on the page for security purposes.
534  Economy / Gambling / Re: Jacks or Better Video Poker -- Be the next winner! 99.54% payout! on: June 27, 2011, 10:29:36 PM
I'll check them out. :]

EDIT: They're all the same ones from the wiki :[ They're all based in the U.S. and Europe. I'm looking for hosting in some place like Costa Rica, where I can be sure the server won't get shut down.
535  Economy / Gambling / Re: Jacks or Better Video Poker -- Be the next winner! 99.54% payout! on: June 27, 2011, 09:22:28 PM
I actually fixed the tie behavior earlier today. You can double up again after a tie.

The only way I could achieve faster gameplay would be if I didn't have to operate over the slow TOR network. If anybody can point me to where I can find fully anonymous VPS hosting with 1G of RAM or so, it would be greatly appreciated.
536  Economy / Gambling / Re: Jacks or Better Video Poker -- Be the next winner! 99.54% payout! on: June 27, 2011, 09:11:07 PM
I had it waiting for 1 confirmation (whoops!). That problem is fixed. Credits are now available with 0 confirmations.
537  Economy / Gambling / Re: Jacks or Better Video Poker -- Be the next winner! 99.54% payout! on: June 27, 2011, 07:06:47 PM
Natural language is full of overloaded meanings. ฿ is already widespread as the "Bitcoin sign", thanks to a similar symbol appearing on the Bitcoin logo itself. Regardless of the opinions of a few, ฿ is on its way to meaning both Bitcoins and Thai Bahts, just as $ is used to describe several different currencies, not all of them called "dollars" (when ambiguity arises, we elaborate by adding "USD", "L$", "Z$", etc.).

I haven't reproduced the CSS issue, even after extensive testing. What browser are you using?

539  Economy / Gambling / Re: Dragon's Tale - a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG/Casino on: June 26, 2011, 10:52:57 PM
I was under the impression it was illegal to gamble anything of value. Remember that casinos use chips because the Mafia attempted the same dodge once upon a time. Casino chips aren't money, therefore it's not really gambling, right?
540  Economy / Gambling / Re: Dragon's Tale - a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG/Casino on: June 26, 2011, 11:54:59 AM
Is this guy openly operating an online casino from the US? He's got some serious balls.
