In the International League T20  tournament, the 26th match was played between Gulf Giants and MI Emirates which was won by Gulf Giants by only 5 runs. This match was a close one and interesting to watch from the spectators point of view.

James Vince from Gulf Giants made 59 runs and it was the vital runs scored by the giants captain. Jamie Smith made a not out 43 runs but he wasn’t supported by other batsmens still the bowlers help this win this match.

MI Emirates failed to score this small target. The captain Kieron Pollard made 41 runs but he alone could not win the match for this team. Almost all the bowlers took wickets from Gulf Giants while Chris Jordan took two wickets.

It was a battle between two of the top teams in International League T20. Ideally MI Emirates should have won, but they fell short by 5 runs. Still they are at the top of the table with 6 wins from 9 matches. However, as a result of the win yesterday, Gulf Giants has closed the gap between these two teams. Now they are at second place with 10 points from 9 matches. And today we have the match between two of the teams that are at the bottom. Dubai Capitals and Desert Vipers will take on each other at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The AustraliaU19 team has done well and made it to the final, but that doesn't mean they will definitely win against IndiaU19. Just because of that Tom Hartley got the most wickets in a previous match doesn't mean he will be successful in the final. The Indian team also has talented players who have done well in the tournament. It's important to think about both teams strengths and weaknesses and how they have performed overall instead of just looking at past statistics. The final result will depend on how well both teams play and perform on the day of the match.

One advantage with India is that recently a lot of money has been poured into the age group cricket system, and as a result many of the younger players have access to high-class infrastructural facilities and training. The advantage with Australia is that their grass-roots cricket system is quite strong in the colleges and school. That is how they are able to challenge India, despite having less than 2% of the population in comparison. Anyway, fingers crossed for the final. Even now, I would say that Australia has a solid advantage over India.

That's true and the real fact behind why South Africa did poor performance. today there was a SA20 match and Faf du Plessis,  de Kock, Keshav Maharaj, Reeza Hendricks were playing there. Actually its their board decision whom they should sent for playing. But if Cricket South Africa (CSA) send them as main players then this match might be More interesting. Although some players from south Africa like Keegan Petersen, David Bedingham performance were impressed and Neil Brand was on fire who got total 8 wickets alone. And in new Zealand, Rachin Ravindra and Kane Williamson were found in their full forum. I was expecting for century but Ravindra did double century in 1st innings. Kane Williamson also did double centuries but single century in each innings

Agreed on Keegan Petersen, David Bedingham and Neil Brand. But good performance from these three players were not able to make up for the poor form from the 8 other players. Honestly I was expecting a bit more from Raynard van Tonder and Zubayr Hamza in the batting department and Duanne Olivier/Dane Paterson. Because these players were in good form during the domestic 4-day series. But they failed to adjust to international cricket. Also, it proves that South Africa doesn't have enough depth in their player pool.

The first T20I match between Australia and West Indies will start in some time from now. West Indies performed better than what was expected from them during the test series, but imploded during the ODI series. The third and last ODI was a nightmare for them, as they were bowled out for just 87, and then the Aussies chasing the target in just 6.5 overs. During the ODI series, it was their new stars, such as Xavier Bartlett, Lance Morris and Will Sutherland who excelled. None of them have been selected for the T20I series.

I think other pacers weren't as good as Raza, Raza kept ball wicket to wicket and got few successes while other pacers bowled differently, also Australian tail-enders were surprisingly good at defending. Aussies know how to play underpressure, don't they? I mean it was last wicket and they tackled bowls good.

India has been playing real good in this tourney, unbeaten so far, let's see how they gonna tackle Aussies, or are we gonna see men's wc repeat where Aussies broke the unbeaten streak at Final.

Australia always perform better during the final match of major tournaments and India underperforms under such circumstances. And yesterday we saw how amazing the Australian bowlers were. Tom Straker, the 18-year old pacer completely demolished Pakistani batting lineup. And Callum Vidler have been in prime form throughout this series. On top of that, their batsmen have been in good form as well, especially Harry Dixon and Hugh Weibgen. That said, I won't discount the Indians. They have been unbeaten so far, both in group phase and Super6.

LOL.. what a collapse from Canada.. Chasing a target of 225, they were all set for victory at 174/3. Then the established batsman Harsh Thaker was nabbed by Kushal Malla. It triggered a collapse and once Nicholas Kirton got out, it was all over for them. And the biggest joke is that it was the part-timer Rohit Paudel who emerged as the pick of the bowlers. Nepal once again cements their position as one of the strongest associate sides. And hopefully performances such as this one should guarantee an uptick in fund allocation from the ICC.
527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: February 08, 2024, 11:33:33 AM
It seems we no longer need to speculate about Messi for the World Cup 2026. Because Messi already said that he would retire to play in the World Cup, i think his statement made 2023. If he doesn't change his decision, then we won't be able to watch Messi play in the next World Cup. Maybe this decision was to end his career as a footballer who competed in the world cup as champion. If he returns to play in the World Cup, then he might not be very happy, if he fails to bring Argentina to the same performance as the previous World Cup. So, retired from playing for the World Cup after winning, will maintain a good history and memories in his career.

IMO, it will be wise for Messi to not to participate in the FIFA World Cup of 2026. He will be forever known as the player who captained Argentina to the trophy in 2022. A poor performance in 2026 can ruin that reputation. Let the younger players such as Alexis Mac Allister, Julián Álvarez, Enzo Fernández and Nicolás González take over the responsibility. Messi will be 39 years at the time of 2026 World Cup, and I seriously doubt whether he will be in prime form. What about coaching the Argentina national football team in 2026?

Yesterday Comilla Victorians won match by 34 runs against Khulna Tigers. Liton Das played so well by scoring 45 runs in just 30 balls and Will Jacks 22 (27) helped Comilla to get a decent total of 150 runs for Khulna Tigers. The man of the Match is Aamir Jamal from Comilla Victorians for his extra odionery bowling performance took fove wickets by just give 5/23 is his bowling spell and restricted All out Khulna Tigers in just 115 runs.

Yeah.. Litton finally managed to get to a decent score. His poor form is what is sinking Comilla Victorians. However, yesterday's win should be credited to Aamer Jamal. He destroyed the Khulna Tigers top order, along with Mustafizur Rahman and Tanvir Islam. And his stunning performance in BPL comes after a highly successful test tour of Australia. Anyway, Victorians are 3rd in the points table and they have a lot of ground to cover. At this point, both Rangpur Riders and Chattogram Challengers are well ahead of them.

Australia U19 vs Pakistan U19, Semi-Final 2 is taking place and Pakistan team is already batting but not able to increase their runs much. In today's match, Pakistan team batted under a lot of pressure due to which their runs are relatively low at the moment and many wickets have also been lost. However, Australia's bowling performance today has been abysmal due to which the Pakistan team has easily come under pressure and with the runs they have accumulated, it looks like they will never win. All the batsmen who batted at the beginning of the Pakistan team played very poorly due to which the team did not increase the runs, but if any other player could have done as well as Azan Awais, it would have been possible to make a good score. In today's match Australia team seems to beat Pakistan for sure as at the moment their team score is 100 runs 33 overs 5 wickets.

LOL.. Pakistan struggling at 133/6 after 40.2 overs. I guess it is going to be yet another final between India and Australia in a major ICC tournament. These two teams are dominating international cricket at this point. England and New Zealand were also there in the pig-4 grouping. But during the last 2-3 years these two teams have lost their mojo. And then we have Pakistan and South Africa at a level below these teams. None of the other teams are able to provide any meaningful competition to either India or Australia.

It is true that the first Test match ended in a one-sided affair. It is unimaginable that South African cricket team players played so badly in first innings and second innings. South African cricket team players in the first innings game where no batsman managed to score 45+ runs. Even though David bedingham scored 87 runs in the batting of the second innings, the condition of the rest of the batsmen was similar. Throughout the game, it was as if the players of the South African cricket team were held hostage by the players of the New Zealand cricket team.

It was expected, right? CSA prioritized SA20 over the test series. This is why I always say that the ICC World Test Championship should be scrapped and boards should be able to decide on how many test matches they play every year. If the boards can decide on the number of ODI and T20I matches they play every year, then I don't know why the ICC is so adamant regarding the test matches. Test cricket is dying and there is no point in kicking a dead horse. It benefits no one. Just because ICC is awash with funds, they don't need to splurge that on test matches.
531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 07, 2024, 11:53:47 AM
Lol! I doubt that. This second string South African side is filled with newbies who are getting bullied by the Kiwis on their turf which is what everyone expected. Am expecting a similar result in the second test too.

This is what happens when you don't pay enough attention to your team's outlook in the test format.

Most of the boards doesn't care about test cricket. It is the ICC which forces them to play in this format. This is why I want to cut down the number of test matches. Only the pig-4 can afford to have separate teams for test and limited overs format. Smaller boards doesn't have this luxury and scheduling test matches can be financially draining for them. 3-4 matches per year sounds good for teams like South Africa. Anything more is like an unnecessary burden. Actually I am glad that South Africa sent an amateur squad. At least now the ICC will notice.

LOL.. Aamer Jamal just destroyed Khulna Tigers with a spell of 4-0-23-5. Five-wicket hauls are so rare in T20 cricket, and his wickets included those of Evin Lewis, Mohammad Nawaz and Nahidul Islam. Tanvir Islam and Mustafizur Rahman cleaned up the lower order and gifted 2 points to Comilla Victorians. Now both these teams have 8 points each, but they are behind Rangpur Riders and Chattogram Challengers at the points table. BTW Litton Kumer Das made a big comeback today, as he scored 45 from 30 balls. This is his first score of 15 plus so far in this season of the BPL.

Yesterday, it was a remarkable fightback from the Indians. At one point, they were 32/4. Then the partnership between Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas took them to target without much effort. Saharan mainly focused on keeping his wicket intact, while it was Das who went on the attack. For the Proteas, once Kwena Maphaka and Tristan Luus completed their first spell, the remaining bowlers failed to keep on the pressure on Indians. And this allowed the Indians to build upon during 5th wicket partnership, and eventually win the match.
534  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: February 06, 2024, 01:19:59 PM
In the first u-19 Semi finals, Proteas seamers simply bullying the Indian top order with pace. Bouncer after after, they are all over them and not giving an inch.

That is a good sign for South Africa's cricket setup, not many exciting batters are coming but at least they will find more speedsters for the national team.

Looks as if it is all over for India. They are 33/4 after 12 overs, and they still need another 212 runs. Tristan Luus has picked up 3 wickets till now, and Kwena Maphaka has picked up the wicket of Adarsh Singh. Uday Saharan is still there, along with Sachin Dhas. But now it is an uphill task for the Indians. Apart from Maphaka and Luus, the Proteas have quality pacers like Nqobani Mokoena and Riley Norton. At this point, I would say that the final match of this tournament will be played between the hosts (South Africa) and Australia.

I think Gulf Giant will win this game of International League T20 series. Today, 22 nd game Sharjah Warriors team won toss and they took a chance to select first bat or bowl and Sharjah Warriors team elected field first. Gulf Giant set a very big target of 187 runs in 20 overs by losing 6 wickets. S.Hetmyer scored 53 runs in 28 balls with three 4s and four 6s.  C.Lynn scored 45 runs in 32 balls and he hitted six 4s and one 6s. S.Williams Sharjah Warriors team bowler also showed good effort in bowling and he took down 3 wickets in 4 overs with 46 runs. Sharjah Warriors team effort is not going be good and Sharjah Warriors team needs 87 runs in 24 balls. At present, Sharjah Warriors one more batsman dismissed from pitch and his name was C.Woakes and they lost this game because they don't have much batsman or balls for chase down remaining target.

International League T20 is widely being advertised as the second most richest cricket league (after the IPL). So it is not very surprising to see heavyweights such as David Warner and Shimron Hetmyer participating in it. Today we have the match between Dubai Capitals and Gulf Giants, with the latter being favorites to win. Despite Warner's presence, Dubai Capitals is languishing at 5th position in the points table, after winning just 3 out of their 7 matches played so far. Same can be said about the Gulf Giants, but at least they have a better NRR.

Match between Chattogram Challengers and Fortune Barishal has started in Bangladesh Premier League and Challengers seems to be in a weak position as of now. Tanzid Hasan and Josh Brown have opened the batting for them, but the score is stuck at 26/0 after 4 overs with Mohammad Saifuddin and Abbas Afridi bowling in a very disciplined manner. Barishal needs to win this match, as they have only 6 points from 6 matches. Chattogram on the other hand has a bit more breathing space, as they have 4 wins from 6 matches.
537  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: February 06, 2024, 12:35:17 PM
It is looking difficult for the Indians. First of all, they allowed the South Africans to reach an imposing total of 244. And while chasing they lost two wickets in quick succession. And that too of two of their best batsmen - Adarsh Singh and Musheer Khan. Arshin Kulkarni and Uday Saharan are at the crease now, facing off against Kwena Maphaka and Tristan Luus. At this point, South Africa has a clear upper hand in this match, and it will take a Herculanean effort from some of the Indian batsmen to win this match and enter the final.
538  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 06, 2024, 12:22:03 PM
New Zealand are in mood of improving there batting stats that's why the opted to bat and were still batting on day 3 stumps. Kane Williamson got centuries in both innings and New Zealand now have an extensive lead of 528 runs. Still we have 2 days of play left and there is not much chance of South Africa surviving this game, they already gave New Zealand a lead of 349 runs in first innings.
Poor show of batting from South Africa in first inning. They should have scored 300 runs in first innings to remain in the game. 45 runs from Keegan Petersen was highest innings from South Africa in first innings.

This is going to be one of the most lop-sided matches in the history of test cricket. I don't understand the point in sending a squad where majority of the players will be making their test debut. Even teams like Ireland or Netherlands would have performed better than this. At this point, New Zealand has a massive lead of 528 runs. I don't know why they are not declaring yet. Perhaps they want the batsmen to improve their career stats. South African bowlers performed slightly better in the second innings, with Neil Brand being once again the best performer.
539  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 05, 2024, 06:37:53 PM
South Africa is playing right trash to be honest. Because the performance from them is not good at all. There is a big lead ahead of them and they are not being able to level. They have already lost four wickets for only 80 runs. I don't think they will actually be able to get anywhere near the total, 511 that was posted by their opponent. And there is a very big chance that they will have to play a  follow on innings. And that is definitely going to be a little frustrating for South Africa in my opinion. But of course they have the capability to make a comeback. first thing they will have to do is survive the first session of the next day.

Since their regular players are busy with SA20, CSA sent a very inexperienced squad to New Zealand. Even the captain (Neil Brand) is making his debut in this match. A total of 6 players are making their test debut for South Africa in this match (apart from Brand, others are Clyde Fortuin, Edward Moore, Ruan de Swardt, Raynard van Tonder and Tshepo Moreki). No wonder that New Zealand was able to get to an imposing total of 511. Apart from Brand, the other bowlers were very ordinary. South Africa is inching towards an innings defeat.
540  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: February 04, 2024, 03:09:03 PM
Even this match is over for me because having 400 targets in fourth inning is surely one of the most difficult job specially while you are playing in India against spinner trio and Bumrah is also at his top with impressive performance but as we have start from the England it's looking good and positive approach by them even they lost their first wicket in Ashwin first over but still Crawley is doing good job, and we have Rehan Ahmad as nightwatchman which can make some contribution.

Tomorrow first session could be interesting between ball and bat because if we have some good runs from England then surely we can expect good entertaining end of this match but if we have early breakthrough then surely things could be one-sided for the India for coming on level against England in this series.

Scoring 399 in fourth innings is almost impossible. But at the same time, don't forget that England scored 420 batting third during the first test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Back then Ollie Pope scored 196. And he's yet to bat in the 4th innings. The good news for England is that Mukesh Kumar looked clueless so far in this test. So India is effectively down to 4 bowlers, including the part-timer Axar. Also, it puts enormous amount of workload on Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav.
