521  Other / Meta / Re: BCT vs BTT abbreviation for this forum on: December 08, 2023, 04:33:37 PM
Uhmmm... This is from this post - right? VMiner? Okay... Did you have to create a topic to begin a debate on how anyone would address the forum as? Okay... What I'm saying is - anyone could decide to abbreviate the forum's domain name in a way that suits Thier descriptions right?.. lol

okay.. personally, I feel it's okay to say BTT forum - that has been registered on my mind right from inception..
Off topic; what reminds me of your activity & legacy is your meriting habits; cus you barely begin a topic like this one.

522  Other / Meta / Re: (Any Guesses?) Are there many real (unpaid) people still posting here at BCT? on: December 08, 2023, 04:13:56 PM
Hello, I have spent many hours studying the old threads at your wonderful forum, and I suggest to anyone they do the same. The amount of challenging, high-quality topics combined with no spam or sigs is a refreshing retro experience for me. As we quickly head into 2024, do you think there many real (unpaid) people still posting here at BCT? Have a great day.
We've got alot of quality posters in here that don't even care about whatever they'd earn; it ain't compulsory that anyone joins a signature CAMPAIGN... Like it's been said severally, it's just an added advantage and a sort of leverage to quality posters..

phillipma never joined a campaign until now - Jay and mining buddy ain't in any campaigns yet, they're actually very active on the WO thread; I also got to realize that signatures have created an awareness that could surpass the main purpose of BTT itself..
Edit: what the heck is BCT?

523  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Rebroadcasting raw txid. on: December 08, 2023, 12:04:28 AM
This is based from the auto-selected server's mempool.
If your Electrum auto-selected a new server where the previous transaction is kept, your wallet will remove the conflicting transaction and replace it with the one in their mempool.
This explanation has made me understood everything pertaining to auto-connection and manual de-selection .. I thought every single sever would automatically have the Tx as long as it was broadcasted.
Quote
To mitigate this (at least at your end), untick "Select server automatically" then manually select a server,
preferably those that support "full-rbf" since you're replacing a non-rbf flagged transaction.
(try electrum.blockstream.info:50002:s)
I actually -- out of more curiosity (not to get the funds off the mempool, but to understand the whole process) cancelled the transaction and realized that that was as good as broadcasting another transaction, waiting to be confirmed 🤦
So currently, I've got the first transaction with the 30 sat/vbyte waiting to be confirmed and also the same transaction waiting to be cancelled, also in the confirmation process but with a much lower fee rate.. I'm a mess!!!! But I'm happy that every bit of it isn't a waste cus I've definitely acquired alot of technical knowledge.
Y'all really helped... I dunno what else to do now but maybe I'll just increase the fees of the cancelled transaction...if it's confirmed and cancelled, then I'll wait till whenever
Edit; the cancelled transaction was on a higher fee rate; 50 sats/vbyte.
Note: The pending transaction is the same transaction I canceled..
With canceling a transaction in electrum, you replace it with a new one paying higher fee and sending the fund to one of your own addresses.
And @achow101, the great coderman once asked; why's the technical part of Bitcoin so hard to understand?. I'll just bump double fees; if it gets the money exhausted, I'll just let it slide.. that's life.

524  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not gamble with Loan Money~otherwise you will be in danger like me on: December 07, 2023, 09:59:04 PM
Some people go as far as gambling with loaned money and that doesn't sound right at all... I'm just wondering the pressure I passed through when I borrowed some cash from the bank way back 2017 - I didn't default the loan but I was pressured to the point that I never thought of missing the loan(it wasn't any pressure from the bank..I thought I shouldn't dare to default)...so I'm wondering why someone would borrow money and the next option I'm Thier minds would be spending it on nuisance..

525  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos and gamblers are struggling with high tx fees.? on: December 07, 2023, 09:53:46 PM
Easiest answer is: they convert to other coins that doesn't have as much fees as bitcoin in current times.
okay... Let me assume this is actually the solution; are they (casinos) not bearing the risk of deterioration overtime on altcoin?? What if they decided to accept deposits and withdrawals from an altcoin like say - Litecoin, and the value decreases few days after? Are they not definitely losing assuming they had alot of input for those days?? Or what if someone won a game on Thier platform a day or two ago and this present Bitcoin rise came, how do they make payments based on current BTC price?

526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Casinos and gamblers are struggling with high tx fees.? on: December 06, 2023, 11:00:23 PM
I'm just wondering how crypto casinos are able to cope with this high Tx fees.. cus definitely, they'll have a decreased transaction rate.. anyways, I understand the fact that they've got so many ways to cover up whatsoever.. maybe digital sales? Etc.. that'd also equat atleast 11/3 of the usual influx.

do people still gamble with these high tx fees? Is the current congestion in the mempool a motivation to some set of gamblers? that they might likely get fortunate since alot of gamblers won't wanna evade the high fees??

527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you deal with high transaction fee on BTC on gambling? on: December 06, 2023, 10:25:01 PM
I think everyone notice how high the current fee right now on Bitcoin network. I’m sure player like me that relying only on signature campaign payment in Bitcoin is having a hard time to play right now since the fee is insanely high.
That's definitely a big problem now as alot of peeps can't even redeem Thier transactions, talk more of having some to spare out on casino sites .. everyone's been made to face the effect of thw ATH.

mempool currently requires 250 - 340 sat/vbyte as their fair rate for fast confirmations... It's better you just stick to some new adjustable rules of not wagering for now, until the 300-day countdown is over..
528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you think that this is aperfect analogy of how gambling addiction starts? on: December 06, 2023, 09:56:42 PM
I think your description is for atleast 80% of the rate and frequency of gambling addiction - 20% could also be on a higher side with which it's effects stays probably between peer influence and boredom...

Sometimes, an addictive urge doesn't even begin with gambling; it's way better with other things, but gets worse if not controlled.. personally, (gender has got nothing to do with this) I cannot get addicted to something bad.. it just happens.

529  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Rebroadcasting raw txid. on: December 06, 2023, 12:56:54 AM
I'm not able to rebroadcast the tx as I've been warned about an already pending transaction - so what i get everytime is transaction conflict
Rebroadcast or broadcast?

You said you removed your transaction from electrum and your balance reappeared.
What did you do after that? Did you make a broadcast a new transaction using electrum? Since you have removed your transaction from electrum and the node you are connected to doesn't have it in its mempool, you should be able to make a new transaction and you shouldn't get any error.
That's exactly what I did ... My balance appeared for the first time.. then I made a New transaction on electrum with a fair rate of 20sat/byte.

it was unconfirmed for too long, probably due to traffic on the Blockchain? Idk. So I decided to bump the fees to 30sats/vbyte.. it's also been unconfirmed up till now.

Also note that even if you have broadcasted your new transaction, it's possible that ViaBTC doesn't have it in their mempool and still has your previous transaction.
this might be the problem Honestly... Cus I used the same receiving address as the previous TX... So maybe it's been continually marked as the previous one??
Edit: on two occasions, the old tx keeps reflecting back..(it just happened now)
530  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Rebroadcasting raw txid. on: December 06, 2023, 12:35:53 AM
If you removed your transaction from your electrum wallet, you can make and broadcast a new one using electrum itself and you don't need to use other tools like coinb.in.
Also note that even if you have broadcasted your new transaction, it's possible that ViaBTC doesn't have it in their mempool and still has your previous transaction.
I'm not able to rebroadcast the tx as I've been warned about an already pending transaction - so what i get everytime is transaction conflict
How do I do this? Bump the fees again or cancel the tx with a much more higher fees? Cus the rate currently is 30sat/vbyte...
Thanks for the correction.
531  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Rebroadcasting raw txid. on: December 05, 2023, 11:26:46 PM
From this topic, I was able to get different answers to how I could retrace the tx.. so I imported the seed phrase to an electrum wallet, and I tried disconnecting and reconnecting to different severs until I got an interface that allowed me to either "broadcast" the transaction or "remove" it... I actually clicked on the remove option and it immediately reflected in my wallet for the first time...(y'all remember I used TW the last time?)?

The case now is - I'm tryna accelerate the Tx and VIAbtc keeps giving me a warning - that my transaction id doesn't exist.. I also searched an old post from @LoyceV way back in 2017 and the instruction on it was to copy the hex format of the txid and rebroadcast it using coinb.in.
The problem here is; i can't generate the hex format of my txid on an Android version of electrum wallet... Is there a way out to help me proceed?? Preciate y'all.

532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Appropriate percentage of income for gambling on: December 05, 2023, 09:59:40 PM
I use 5% of my weekly income to gamble and I can not go more than that. Sometimes I can be busy and I can spend less. If a week favours me, I will save my profit and the remaining (5% last week income) for next week gambling. According to what I heard, people spend up to 12% of their weekly income on gamble.
5% of your weekly income?? Goodness lord..do you mean what you get in here from campaigns or?? What type of job pays weekly? How about the peeps that don't get Thier stipends on weekly basis, is this question also for them?...if you're actually a heavy staker, your weekly bankroll of atleast 5% of your stipend doesn't even deem your urge, talk more of the monthly salary earners; (In most cases,a satisfactory bankroll would consume almost everything everything before it' gets to MAYDAY)
Quote
I think it is not bad but that gives me the thinking to make a post like this on this forum. What percentage of weekly income do you think is right for gambling?
Right?any percentage is okay... You could also decide not to gamble at all..

No matter how much you lost on gambling, I ain't got that time for petty sentiments, all in the name of regrets or pity for you... I believe that nobody needs to tell you at that point to forsake so many unnecessary spendings, including gambling....(cus I believe a gambler would always carryon and spend on other irrelevancies extravagantly)

The one thing that gives them hope is that -- others are winning, and it'll definitely get to Thier turn... maybe today, maybe not. how sick that sounds to me...

I can't involve gambling in my new-year resolution.... Is it even something to be proud of doing?? These days, alot of people don't really value the fact that they've got to please their gambling urge... It's definitely becoming a problem, coupled with the current inflation rate..

instead, every man's new year resolution should be - looking for ways to change Thier psych towards achieving something tangible rather than fetching money from elsewhere to service thier selfish pleasure. I seen alot of peeps saying they'd definitely be on the lookout for new ways to speculate the coming games..; to me, that's just stupid to think of.

You would definitely have won big .... But what if that wasn't the case? And it eventually fell in one of those days that you felt it's wise to increase your stakes?? How would you feel if you had staked as much as what you won on this ticket and you lost it??

Gambling isn't a trust firm that gives you all you want - there's every tendency that you've lost more than what you posted today.. alot of gamblers won't post what they've been losing either.

Edit: signing a massage on my with my address?? Does that help?
I could not find a staked address from you, I must be too weak to find things. If you have staked an address so far then you are safe. We have talked about the rest many times.
I haven't staked any yet.
It's probably this case from October that was recently bumped: harizen - ban appeal. But the OP of that thread seems to have given up and hasn't been online for months. He can't expect other forum members to fight his battles if he isn't here himself anymore.
I've gotten enough clarity from some post in the first page... I just wanted to know if there are parameters that's been made to synchronize by the forum itself for every account's security. I seen them already...
OFF-topic: Why do you mention your name at the end of each topic? Is the account managed by more than one user?
This is my account and it isn't managed by any other person but me... How's that even possible? Hugeblack? What you see at the end of my post isn't written for fancy; that's my preferred Monika. I hope @Jollygood sees this too.
It's strange to me that someone who has been on the forum for years reacts in this way, as if he didn't understand until now that the security of his bitcointalk account depends only on him,
since when did it become a crime to ask questions on what anyone's getting confused about?! This stalking wasn't necessary and doesn't answer any questions... sorry to say.
I hope you meant message.  Grin
That was a mistake.. do you wanna prove otherwise? No? Thanks!
Quote
Now more seriously, it depends... how safe you keep your private key or seed?
If at least these are actually safe then yes, it should help.
Thanks alot... My priv keys are safe with me.
Third, let's cut out the baseless FUD! If you genuinely believe that the Bitcointalk.org forum is unsafe or worthless, then why keep using it? No one's forcing you, right?
you're totally off point... Did I mention that anywhere on my post?? Where did you get the interpretation from? Stop taunting others for tryna free up thier curiosities... It ain't supposed to be that way..

I've never seen successful gamblers in real life.. I've always been seeing probably fake attestations?? Cus if you wanna look at it critically, you ain't winning at all; if you staked a game at about $100 and your potential winnings for some few odds was like $600 and it actually cut... Then you kept wagering with the winnings - in the space of two weeks, you've lost $1200, who's losing?? This calculation doesn't mean anything to an addicted gambler anyways.

Yo, yooo!!! This are actually two different topics mhann!!
The governs pressing on money laundering cases on casinos..isn't the same thing with the fact that mixers are being banned .. BTW, the whole issue arouse when the governs weren't given prior authorization over mixers like 'em casinos did.. y'all been told that KYCs are made to stop money laundering?? Lol... There are more reasons to why it's made; why would the governs decide to eliminate a project that hasn't got any bad reviews just because they ain't initializing the KYCs??... Remember, In the crypto space, anonymity is imperative.

Hello everyone,

I'm totally new and I don't have a steady source of income so I'm looking for some help, nice to meet you all 😊
I don't wanna sound harsh but that's so wrong to think of... What site pays you money with zero skills, knowledge or experience?.. we all understand how hard it is to survive in the 21th century, yes, but at the same time, this isn't a Ponzi site; it's not even created to be giving away funds to nobody. We've got ways to make lil bucks maybe weekly, maybe monthly, maybe per contract and so on, but you need 'em skills to do any of this...

again, you sound really desperate and I don't think you're willing to pay for any skill ... Ofcourse ( becoming a community manager would earn you much more but would also demand your time and resources as well.)?!

1. Is it necessary for everyone to identify with their local boards and participate in the board discussions?
No. Ain't nobody gonna compel you to write on local boards. You could decide if you don't want to.. afterall, I don't even post in there...I barely do so.
Quote
2. I would love to get a detailed aim For each of the local board and also know the kind of thread that's best to be created in the local board.
detailed aim? It's basically for identification and closeness.. example, we've got some members in the forum passed away - how's everyone gonna know this? The deceased family member could pass an information through the local section and that's it... Maybe any donations? Maybe not... Depends on your countryman!
Quote
3. If it's necessary to participate in the activity of the local board, what happens to the people whose local board is not in the forum.
Again, it's not necessary!
Edit: do you speak English fluently?
