521  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: I found a block !!! on: December 12, 2014, 10:57:51 PM
Unfortunately I was pool mining...

Note that I did not receive anything extra for finding it!

But still! One of my Antminer S3+ found a block shortly after I restarted them.

Has anyone else found one?

EDIT: I've switch to eligius.st pool.

I am new to mining. Whats the approximate amount you get if you find a block? Isn't it around 50 BTC?

25 BTC per block

Thats really nice. Would be much cool, if you were not part of a pool Tongue
Finding a block is really lucky speciialy with so many miners.

528  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ROBBED on: December 12, 2014, 10:48:01 PM
Just out curiosity have you checked if your address has been affected by this http://www.coindesk.com/good-samaritan-blockchain-hacker-returned-255-btc-speaks/ ?

There is reference to address list but it may be incomplete https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=581411.0

This was an incident which happened 2 days back and only lasted for 2 hours. The current post looks like a more recent thing.
529  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think Bitcoin will be worth in a year? on: December 12, 2014, 10:45:35 PM

 Cool

Maybe after 10700 years Wink
530  Economy / Speculation / Re: Weekly Speculation Thread on: December 12, 2014, 10:45:17 PM
Hi

So with all the threads in this section, it becomes really difficult to find out which is regarding which period and which reason. So I decided to make this thread to try and consolidate all the speculations here. Please post in the following format:

Current Bitstamp Price:
Speculated Price in a week: (May post as above x$ or below x$)
Reason (if applicable):

Bet: x BTC (Please post this if you are really confident about your speculation and want to put your money where your mouth is! If anyone decides to bet against you, that person can contact me (or anyone else) to escrow the bet.)

If you are accepting bets for it, then shouldn't it be in the gambling sections?
I think no one is replying probably, because there already exist a thread for speculating the prices.
531  Economy / Speculation / Re: The question is not what will you do if BTC hits $10 on: December 12, 2014, 10:44:14 PM
800$? not this year!
what about 80$? Grin
It doesn't look like it will drop to that low price. Lately, a lot of new retailers are accepting bitcoins, including Microsoft and Pokerstars, and would only make it more used by people, and hopefully a driver for prices to go up.
532  Economy / Speculation / Re: I'm proud of Bitcoin :). on: December 12, 2014, 10:42:48 PM
I still remember 1 year ago when I used Bitcoin to buy some weed on silk road.
Now becoming main stream due Microsoft.
This is just the beginning folks. Blockhalving soonish. Great time to come.
I wonder when this bear market will be over.

 Cool

The news of Microsoft hasn't been the biggest one yet. I was expecting more from Paypal to start and integrate bitcoins in their system.
Currently, I see no services offered by them for it.
533  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BLOCKCHAIN.INFO on: December 12, 2014, 10:38:43 PM
There is also a thread on here, by a user who posted about the potential flaw on Blockchain.
Might be worth checking, if your address in on the list.
534  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who got the prediction right? (bitcoin price) on: December 12, 2014, 11:28:38 AM
We will get close to testing 400 again after that 335 drop today, its definite, mass accumulation these last few days... When was I ever wrong?
Never dropped to 335$ today. Might be only on 1 particular exchagne. Lowest it went on bitstamp today was 348.
535  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 12, 2014, 11:26:56 AM
The price has been stuck between the denial and fear phase for too long. I'm still waiting for desperation and fear..

This, my buys are in the $310-$320 range. Usually before a big climb there is a crazy crash right before. And if I miss it...meh, that's all good too.

Though we have been through so many different reasons why Bitcoin is going to fail and reasons why Bitcoin is going to the moon that I'm not sure what sort of news could do either.

I don't believe there will be any "news" that will spark a rally or crash. Except for the ETF. I'm not sure why this is put on hold but I'm sure they have their reasons. Anyway, long-term I'd say it's far more sane to keep your coins than to sell them. If you're a day-trader you may find yourself with good profits or huge loss within this situation, so move cautiously.

A lot of times, its not news but big holders selling or dumpin, which causes a panic sell.
Just like a panic buy at times.
536  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BLOCKCHAIN.INFO on: December 12, 2014, 11:14:54 AM
Did you create an account, or sent a transaction on Dec 8th? There was a flaw that day which left private keys compromised everytime the address was used.
I made a lot of transactions that day, but my wallet is still safe. Can you please link to any article that can provide some concrete info on this issue?

If that is the case you should have got a mail from Blcokchain.info

If yuor coins were lost due to that they are very likely in the hands of Blockchain, and they have stated they will refund anybody who lost due to the hack.
I remember an article too, that for 2 hours, there were some issues, and someone lost over 20 coins, but as refunded by them.
537  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Help with good bussiness ideas for cool domain names. on: December 12, 2014, 10:50:02 AM
bitcoinpurse.org looks like a nice domainm as well. The .com is parked, but not being used.
You can definitely start something on that.

I wish I own bitcoinpurse.com:) I never buy other that .com domains. But crypto is different, it is opensource, there is lot of .org domains in use. So yes, bitcoinpurse.org is exception in that .com rule. Do you have any idea what kind of wallet service should I run there?
Well , as the name suggests the best would have been to start on online wallet of sorts, but thats hard to begin and is already done by a lot of other sites.
I will message, if I can think of something.

539  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can someone tell me which is the most secure of the offline wallets? on: December 12, 2014, 09:08:29 AM
I have been using Armory for the last 6 months, and has been the most secure wallet till now for offline storage of bitcoins.
You might as well try wallets like Trezor to store bitcoins.
540  Economy / Gambling / Re: SealsWithClubs.eu | Largest Bitcoin Poker Site | No Banking | Fast Cashouts on: December 12, 2014, 12:40:06 AM
I am curious about what kinds of risk would less confirmations cause? Since its irreversible and double spends do not get confirmed, wouldn't one or 2 suffice?

Depends on the level of risk tolerance you have, I suppose.  With no confirmations, it seems pretty easy to rip you off.  With just one, there are attacks that could let you see a false confirmation.  With two, it's getting a lot more difficult, but something (not even necessarily a heist) could conceivably break the network itself.

I couldn't articulate the reasons better than they have been, but there were good reasons right before SwC went to two that they did.

But don't other sites like Primedice accept 1 confirmation, and also process withdrawls if there has been only 1 confirmation.
If it was a big issues wouldn't they be moving to more than 1 as well?
