521  Economy / Speculation / Re: Australia speculated to also launch a spot ETF for Bitcoin on: May 02, 2024, 10:44:48 AM
Might want to source a local media outlet given such govt entities don't usually give running commentaries about what they *might* do.  (don't get me wrong - I don't doubt an overseas media outlet is speculating, but that's not the same as if it were announced here in Australia).

Agreed. I will look for this in Australian financial media next time for confirmation. However, the news also began according to Bloomberg which implies that it is only a speculation that Australia might also approve and launch a spot ETF for bitcoin. I will change the title of this thread to indicate that this is only speculation. Also, if you have any news updates on this, please share them in the thread, thank you.
The US SEC approval of Bitcoin ETF has opened the door for any other ETFs, I heard that Hong Kong, SEC, recently approved it's Bitcoin ETF, so I wouldn't be surprised if Australia, follows on the list of approvals. As for new ETF approvals impact on Bitcoin price, I don't know if any will have the effect that it did when the first was approved early this year, where we saw massive price pump that even made us to see a new ATH before halving, I'm saying this because we didn't see any positive impact when Hong Kong, ETF was approved, instead we're seeing further price dip. As for Ethereum ETF, I'm positive that it'll happen sooner or later, because it's a top altcoin, second only to Bitcoin.
522  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think that government can stop Bitcoin? on: May 02, 2024, 09:17:22 AM
We don't have one united government for the whole world, so despite the prejudice that some countries have about Bitcoin, others truly embrace it, that means that Bitcoin can not go into extinction because some people or government don't like it. I know that there's a total ban on Bitcoin in some countries while there's some levels of restrictions and regulations in others, despite these, people are still using it in those countries, because it's decentralized, although they do so at their own risks. The most important thing about Bitcoin is that it's adoption is increasing everyday and more people are seeing it as a store of value, and this movement is what will compel skeptical governments to accept it eventually.
523  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buy Bitcoin and Sell Junkcoins on: May 02, 2024, 07:52:01 AM
Take advantage of the Bitcoin halving and make a small profit
I can't agree less with what you're saying, for those that have the resources to accumulate Bitcoin now, this temporary price dip that we're experiencing now is the best time to do just that, the more it dips, the better for it's buyers, because eventually price surge will happen, as we're entering bull run.

Like some comments on this thread, I agree that it's not all altcoins that are junk, I wouldn't consider top altcoins like Ethereum, BNB, Solana and the rest of the reputable bunch as worthless, they're worth holding, and during Bitcoin bull run, it'll boost the altcoins bull run too. I'll agree if you call most new projects junks, because most of them are scams.
524  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Meme Coins still Catch Up With The Likes of Doge and Shib? on: May 02, 2024, 06:54:22 AM
I think it’s possible that other, newer meme coins can catch up with DOGE & SHIB for sure. SHIB came out of nowhere & people made a lot of money with it. I can’t advise you on what the next big returns meme coin will be, that’s the game unfortunately, do your own research & good luck.
A new memecoin can possibly emerge and catch up or even top doge and Shiba Inu, but the problem is that so far none has stepped up yet for the challenge, leaving this two at the top of the meme ranking. The problem with memecoins is that there are too many of them and most of them are scams, making it hard to pick the ones that can last as these top memes.

The memecoin that's mentioned in the OP might be the next shib, we'll never know, just like many others that are in the memecoins category, so it's for every investor to do their research and take their chances on the ones that they choose, because they're risky. Remember to invest the amount that you can afford to loose.
525  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Misunderstanding of Halving by Bitcoin enthusiast. on: May 01, 2024, 06:13:07 PM
Bitcoin has diverse means in which it operates, although I so much believe that this is th first time some of us that are here are experiencing this event called Bitcoin halving that's why they misunderstand the process, know doubt this occurrence that happens every four years was meant to be a period that Bitcoin is suppose to pump but unfortunately the pump has not been experienced yet but it doesn't mean that it won't happen.

People just dey carry the wrong mentally dey enter the market, there is no where that it's written that after Bitcoin halving say the market go pump immediately. Market go pump be say market go pump, when the pump go happen nobody know so make nobody dey tell you say na this particular time or that time. E dey happen before at a particular time no mean say e need to happen exactly at that time for this halving. Make we just relax ourselves because that pump wey we dey find no go come, Bitcoin need to settle down again and wait for something wey go ginger am up. ETF matter dun go, halving fomo dun go so make we no too dey expect say market go just wake up from no where begin they raise to our high expectations anytime soon.

Most of di people wey de carry dis wrong mentality de enter market na mainly newbies wey never get di experience of halving before, and as dem don hear plenty hypes about bull run, say na wen Bitcoin price de continually surge and investors go get plenty ROI, and na "after halving" di bull season de start. So dem don carry plenty money buy Bitcoin, halving don pass, instead of price to surge e begin to de dip, and many of dem go panic and begin to de sale.

E de important for newbies to research and gain knowledge about how Bitcoin de work before dem begin to invest, odawise dem go de make wrong decisions, some go even vex and say Bitcoin na scam. Dis na my first halving experience, and I no worry about wetin de happen now, because I don gather plenty experience for dis forum, so I know say bull run go happen, na just a matter of months and events go kickstart di price surge gradually.
526  Economy / Economics / Re: It's better to invest now than to regret it in a hospital bed. on: May 01, 2024, 05:11:27 PM
People should think about the future to have time.  There is no use in thinking after the time has passed.  Every age has certain demands.  The right time to invest and earn is when people are young.  After getting old it becomes very difficult to invest or earn.  So everyone should make good use of the time they have.  Many people will not understand where to invest and how much to invest when they get old.  But it can be considered prudently at a young age.  So you should think about securing your future by earning and investing without regretting at the last age.
Knowledge is power and those who're able to have it at their younger age, enjoys a better life when they grow old, because if anybody fails to plan for their old age when they're younger, they'll live in regrets in their old age. One of the best investments that anybody can go into is Bitcoin, but many people still don't know this, they will be investing in scam projects and others will simply squander all their earnings at young age, forgetting that old age will come when they won't have the energy to work and think productively.

Bitcoin is better when held for the long term, and the holder needs a steady source of income to be able to continue hodling it, otherwise they'll be compelled to tamper with their Bitcoin investment nvestment funds.
527  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Don't keep your hope in any news of bitcoin on: May 01, 2024, 03:56:27 PM
Di crypto market de volatile, dat na why we no fit to say Bitcoin price must be dis or dat in di future, na only speculations we fit to do, and every experienced Bitcoin holder suppose know say na so e be. Aldo events wey concern di world like wars, finance and oda breaking news fit to affect di price, also whales fit to dump dem Bitcoin to manipulate price, but in all na demand and supply de determine im price.

I realize say after di halving, many newbies de expect say Bitcoin price go begin to surge and we go enter bull run immediately, but di reality now be say price de dip di more everyday, and some of dem panic and de rush to sale dem Bitcoin, but di truth be say research don show say bull run no de start immediately after halving. Any investor wey de hudl Bitcoin no suppose to de focus on di short term pump and dump price speculations, because na long term project im suppose be.
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is your view and your opinion about Ethereum? on: May 01, 2024, 02:11:17 PM
Ethereum is second only to Bitcoin,in the crypto ranking and it's the number one altcoin in the market, a spot that it's still mentaining since I entered the crypto space, and if it's dev. team are up to the task, then they'll remain at the top of the altcoins ranking. Although Solana, is fast becoming everybody's favorite because of it's network, speed and cheaper transaction fees, while according to the last report that I heard about Ethereum gas fees, it's still favorable only to the big movers. Only Bitcoin is in it's own class, any altcoin can step up to Ethereum in this bull run.
529  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Hong Kong Bitcoin ETF Responsible for Recent Bear on: May 01, 2024, 01:21:40 PM
One of the influencers of Bitcoin price is global news, and this perticular Hong Kong, ETF news is directly on Bitcoin, so I think that the ETF will have an impact in the further dip in Bitcoin price, whether it's minimal or majorly. The first ETF caused a major price surge where we saw an ATH before halving, now we're seeing a dip during this recent ETF, so some of us will not know the extent of this ETF to the present price dip, all we can do is speculate.

As TravelMug, have noted, it could be that some whales might be manipulating the market by selling and causing this dip, inexperienced investors will panic and sale too, and it'll cause further dip and the whales will buy it all.
530  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re:  Fees are spiralling out of control due to halving. on: May 01, 2024, 12:03:01 PM
Bitcoin transaction fees went so high after the halving, and I wouldn't know for sure if it's caused by the aftermath of the halving or due to the runes that are dominating the network as members are speculating, but the fact remains that the occasional congestion in the mempool is not good for Bitcoin business. I'm however glad that the mempool is dicongesting, because evidently transaction fees are gradually returning to normal, I sent Bitcoin yesterday, $106 and the transaction fees was $6, and I was expecting the confirmation to take a couple of days, like the experience that I had a week before, but it didn't take long.
531  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gratitude should be an attitude on: May 01, 2024, 10:06:48 AM
Having an attitude of gratitude will make a person to be happy and have a positive outlook to life, despite any negative occurrences sorounding them. Life is what we make of it and what we see as priority, having the whole riches in this world doesn't guarantee happiness, it has to come from within like appreciating staying alive, touching other people's lives with kindness and being grateful to God, nature and others for being part of your life, because no man is an island and no one can survive in isolation.
532  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin for newbies like me on: May 01, 2024, 08:48:20 AM
Adequate knowledge of Bitcoin is very important before a person will embark on it's investment or trading, because as some members have noted on this thread, many people believe that Bitcoin is a get rich quick scheme, and that is why they're scammed into buying shitcoins, thinking that all cryptocurrency is Bitcoin. I've seen adverts on social media in my country advertising Bitcoin mining gadgets that if you want to become a millionaire within months that you should contact them, and these scammers are scamming people that don't have Bitcoin knowledge everyday. Knowledge is power to achieving greatness.
533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: April 2024 recorded the lowest amount lost to hack. on: May 01, 2024, 07:48:22 AM
This is a good news for the crypto community, it'll gradually reduce the stigma that people have about the crypto space that it's full of hacks and scams, hopefully the figure will continue to decrease and will have a safer crypto space. People are fast becoming more aware of the activities of these hackers and they're becoming more security conscious on how to protect their cryptos, there's massive awareness in every crypto communities on how to guide against scams and hacks. Finally, the best place to secure your crypto coins is in a none custodial wallet, where only you have the keys, we shouldn't leave our coins in an exchange, because if it's not your keys it's not your coins.
534  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Law of gravity no de apply for di prices of goods inside Nigeria on: April 30, 2024, 04:37:50 PM

Im blaming everything on fuel scarcity and increase, transportation is so espensive these days so the average retailer has no choice than to also increase their price to be able to make some gain out of it, fuel is chasing 1k per liter like say na dollar, I just week, very soon the average transportation price a day for anyone would be 2k for very short distance like from mile 3 ph to location ph.
Dis fuel price hyke na anoda reason for di prices of goods and services to de skyrocket, now to enter motor for short distance na double di money dem de collect now. Di prices of food items de high everyday, e come be like say na only chop money person de hustle for, even wen e be like say naira value de appreciate, still price of commodities de go high. We de always cry for bad leadership for dis country, and new administration go enter and give us fake promises, den di economy go de worse pass as dem meet am, I no know which way Nigeria, de go, even people don tire to pray sef, but na only God, go fit to help us make we get beta leaders wey go move di country forward, because no be everybody get di money to japa.
535  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should the top altcoins now be ok that we are in bull run? on: April 30, 2024, 02:54:04 PM
Altcoins within the top 200 ranking is too far, I think you can trim it down to 100 or 50, to be near the top rankings that can have the most probability to bull in the alt season. We're not quite into Bitcoin bull run yet, seeing as it's price is still in dip, until it starts to surge, that's when the bull season will actually start, and it'll precede altcoins season, so we'll have to wait for months before that happens. So you can continue to buy your favorite altcoins before the alt season, also remember invest in Bitcoin, you can not go wrong doing it.
536  Other / Off-topic / Re: Binance in a bit to tarnish Ronaldo's image on: April 30, 2024, 01:52:42 PM
This should be another lesson to followers of Ronaldo, and any other top celebrities and influencers to research any projects or products that the people they idolize promotes, especially if it's not what the celebrity is into. Sometimes I wonder if celebrities really consider their reputations and accountability to their fans before accepting to endorse anything, it's very sad that these celebrities only cares about the money that they'll be paid. Binance is a big brand, same with Ronaldo, it's the ignorant people that accepts anything that's endorsed by the latter that'll bear the lose when the ship sinks.
537  Economy / Economics / Re: Money and wealth is Energy know this first on: April 30, 2024, 12:19:50 PM
Money and wealth being energy depends on the perspective that you're looking at it from, if you mean by working hard physically, then I won't agree with you, because CEOs stay in comfortable offices and earn all the money, while the labourers do all the hard works and get peanuts. But if you mean energy by thinking smarter than everyone, then it can amount to wealth creation, because you're using your intellects to create wealth. It's said that if you want to be a millionaire, you need to think like a millionaire, so it's not working hard like a horse or machine, that can create lasting wealth, because the person will eventually break down and become poor.
538  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next movement of Bitcoin. Let's share everything you can about Bitcoin. on: April 30, 2024, 11:11:12 AM
Hello everyone,
I am a crypto investor and have invested much in meme coins and other altcoins. Now I am in minus; you know it is pressuring my head. Because I am a beginner investor, I need to know the next movements of Bitcoin. It will help me and other noobies who have invested in crypto.

Thanks in advance

We don't know what the is the exact movement of Bitcoin, it's a speculative asset and so you just have to be a long term investor. Why? because it will take time for Bitcoin market to be in a bull run, meaning price is going to be up for a certain period of time and will likely reach new all time high. And with that, if you just buy and be a holder and then sell when it reaches top price maybe next year.
This is the fundamental truth, we don't know what the precise price movement of Bitcoin will be, because it's volatile and a speculative asset, this is why it's better to hodl it on the long term, so irrespective of it's Short term pump and dump, it won't affect the investor's long term plan.

Memecoins are not like Bitcoin, most of them are just like Ponzi schemes, they get hyped, to attract investors, in the end they disappear with the investors funds, so they're risky projects because most of them are scams. The best and most reputable crypto is Bitcoin, so invest the amount that you can afford to loose in memecoins.
539  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Invest To Learning First on: April 30, 2024, 09:45:01 AM
Also, getting help from outside experts, like consultants, can be really useful. They can help you make smart decisions, save money, and understand how to invest better.
If a consultant is affiliated to a certain investment option, they may want to convince you to consider that investment above other investment choices even though it may not be good for you, this is why it is always important to have some knowledge before you seek third-party opinion. If you are fortunate and lucky to have access to two people who have experience in investing that can be very good for you because you can always try to verify the suggestion of the first consultant with the second person to hear their opinion they have about it before you go ahead to adopt it or make some modifications.
I agree with what you said, because a newbie crypto investor or trader without any experience and who goes ahead to visit a crypto consultancy group for learning and advice could be further endangering their chances of getting into a legit investment, because the consultants can be part of a scam project that wants to promote it to scam naive investors. So we should invest in learning first from established sites and individuals with experience before going a step further to consult relatively unknown sites for tutoring and advice, so you're not a total novice to what they're asking you to do.
540  Other / Politics & Society / Re: All people Should have the right to own Guns in our Society on: April 30, 2024, 08:35:39 AM
I can not agree to everybody owning a gun in any society, because people have different temperaments, someone who has anger issues can get mad at another person and decide to shoot the person because he has a gun, infact death rate will increase over time. What if the governments approves carrying pistols and shotguns by civilians, and armed robbers are carrying AK-47 riffles, which is more deadlier? I think that we'll be seeing more dead bodies everyday, because crime rates, manslaughter and murder will increase, so let's be careful what we wish for, guns are not supposed to be in the hands of everybody, only trained personnel and people who are authorized should carry guns.
