I registered asicminer.bit using namecoin yesterday.
If friedcat provides a namecoin address I'd be happy to transfer it to him (gratis).

#1904 LS (SGL300G) production
|
|
|
I was happy to see that my LS pre-order status finally switched from 'processing' to 'production' today. Also they gave me a partial shipping refund, which was nice of them. (I moved from Europe to the US last year, so I overpaid for shipping). Hopefully I'll receive my unit next week (after waiting 370+ days). If I do I'll post some pics & hashrate. 1904 6/24/12 ninjarobot $xxx.xx Production View Order

"Ryan (Zhou) is a veteran entrepreneur and Bitcoin guru. Technically and commercially adept, he’s founded several successful startups and remains a prominent figure in the Bitcoin community."
Define "successful". If screwing your customers is "successful" then yes. *cough*Bitcoinica*cough* Good luck to all bitcoin newbies signing up for the coinjar "managed wallet". Maybe this time is different?

Working fine again. Nothing has changed. Decided to pull out whatever (little) funds I had there for now. These things scare me

Tomorrow will mark the full 1-year wait point for me. Ordered 3 jalapenos (upgraded to 1 LS) on June 24th 2012 with 76 BTC. Sigh.
Bad for you. BFL started a few weeks ago to manufacture Jalapenos. Now the first Single and MiniRig prototypes are made. Nobody knows how long it will take until BFL starts to manufacture little singles. No shit. Well, at least BFL will be shipping something (if they don't fold before they ship little singles). Sure beats Bitcoinica. Those bastards took 1993 BTC from me in May of last year and have not refunded customers yet, and perhaps never will. Now there is a real scandal.

This was super useful.
.bit domains are working for me now without using browser extensions or web-proxies. Thank you!
Btw, is there a solution that works for Android as well?
|
|
|
Unlikely. Too bad because Namecoin has a lot of merit, so it could use some more exposure.
Pehaps if LTC works out well for Gox they will be more open to add other cryptos also (including NMC).

...Maybe in 2 weeks?
(Now please excuse me while I *punch a dolphin in the FACE!*)

Im kind of surprised namecoin hasn't really gained ground. I guess its because there is no gui wallet for it and pretty much no community/dev support. I could see them being incredibly valuable in the next five years just because they allow ppl to circumvent costly domain registration services. kind of how palladium wasn't worth a whole lot until it was found to be an inexpensive way to dilute platinum in catalytic converters etc...
Actually Namecoin does have a GUI wallet. In fact, a new beta version of namecoin-qt was released just this week that also adds a .bit name registration and domain management UI. I tried it and it is pretty darn awesome. Namecoin also has active developers. Mainly khal and snailbrain.

5) Mt. Gox is certainly not a martyr, but it would be hard to argue that we aren’t "taking one for the team" as far as Bitcoin is concerned. We are a big target, and are absorbing the frustrations of Bitcoiners, regulators, banks, and a media that still doesn't quite understand what Bitcoin is. This is a job we are happy to fill, and not just because we are compensated for it. Our hope is that, once Bitcoin finds its place, we will be able to say that we made a difference in sorting it all out in the early days. New exchanges, business models, merchants, traders, and consumers are rising up to innovate and create a whole new way of doing business. A lot of lawyers are getting new cars in the meantime too. Yes, like the MtGox Lawyer preventing the NZ court appointed liquidator for Bitcoinica to access their own account so funds can finally be returned to Bitcoinica customers who are still waiting 1+ years later.

Rocking those blockchains like a boss!

This is a big leap for namecoin usability. Thanks to snailbrain and team for working on this!

Take a long view people. Friedcat pretty much won the 1st Gen ASIC mining race and everybody who invested with him has already reaped the benefits of that fact.
You can bet your bottom dollar (or bitcoin) that he has a solid plan for 2nd gen hardware in the pipeline. The second gen ASIC wars will likely start in earnest during October/November and I'm confident Bitfountain will raise the stakes yet again by being the first to deploy 2nd gen hardware in bulk.
I'm excited about the future of ASICMINER. A week of lower dividends is a god given for those who would like to buy more shares at a lower price.

This thread is no different.
Carry On.

If people looked through posts, this problem of spamming for hero status wouldn't be a problem That, or posting volume. Unless you are Satoshi or Gavin, there are only so many insightful comments one can make in a day.

Downloading the blockchain is thrashing the disk so hard I can barely stand it. Really think this option is necessary for the next release or only people with ssd can use it.
+1 for the dbcache patch or LevelDB suggestion. I'm downloading the blockchain with namecoin-qt 0.3.57 on my windows 7 laptop with regular (5400RPM) hard disk and at this rate it will take me 4+ days to synchronize with the network. Not because downloading blocks is slow but because my HDD is going crazy.

A: Yes, but only on the "Inter-Net".

Namecoin has tons of untapped potential. I'm really happy this is still being actively worked on. Thank you!
