522  Economy / Service Discussion / Has anyone used Bylls.com recently? on: September 19, 2014, 03:05:32 PM
I got a Chinese friend who just moved to Canada. He is in process of moving his fund from home country. I want to tell him he can use Bylls service to pay bills in the mean while.

I think hes almost maxed out his annual limit for CNY.

524  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone else buying? on: September 19, 2014, 01:24:59 PM
you should probably wait, price might go down even more up until 1st of October

What's happening then?

the end/begging of the US fiscal year. Someone proposed that this bitcoin price drop is due to americans wanting to pay their taxes (which must be payed in US dollars). I don't know if it is the only reason for bitcoin price drop, but definitely  it does have some influence on the price being lower

Most new investors buy into bitcoin around this time of last year. Due to capital gain tax, they prefer to wait for a year for lower tax rate, and since the price has been slowly declined, they decided to cash out now to gain bit of profit.

However this price point is where last bubble started, and miners are not willing to sell at loss. So market will reverse.

Thanks for the warning... I have some price points where i'll continue to buy to lower my average buying prices.

Just don't want to miss the opportunity if it (and it should) take a sharp rebound Smiley

No doubt about rebound, remember fiat move way too slow compared to bitcoin. It can take couple days for funds come in.

LOL never call bottoms noobs, thats the rules in trading. Trying to get avg buying cost to what you like is better strategy

Kendog very professional.  Whats your electric bill a month?

My datacenter hosting costs including everything. Needless to say, the datacenter I was using had not dealt with Bitcoin miners in the past, so they had no clue that I would use as much power as I did. They were not charging me enough and were losing money on the deal.

After this experience, I also think that using a datacenter for mining is not a great idea because datacenter costs are just too high. Miners don't need access to things like redundant power and internet, and those items just increase costs.

The most efficient mining setups I've seen just consist of a big bare bones warehouse with access to adequate enough cooling to keep the hardware from failing and a lot of cheap power.

Datacenters are WAY overkill for mining.

duh...

ofcourse they are, too bad you just found this out.

You sold all of that on ebay and didnt get scam?

WOW.....

That is still to be determined and the cost of doing business. I try not to sell a lot of hardware to the same person to spread my risk around, but have had to deal with some returns.

There are quite a few newbies on Ebay buying mining hardware that have trouble getting the miners to work, but I provide good support via email to try to get them up and running.

In general, there are some scammers on Ebay, but most people are honest.

Ebay also makes the buyer return an item and pay return shipping before getting a refund.

Right and they can return an empty box. As long as they show ebay their shipping slip, your money is gone.

532  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Let me sum it up for you people. on: September 19, 2014, 12:50:46 PM
Btc price drops 18%
Difficulty jumps 18%

Your mining profit got shafted 36% ...

But who cares, keep donating money to hardware vendors, they need your help.

Wow, the timing of the S4 release could not have been worse for Bitmain and miners looking to buy a S4, and it's mainly just bad luck outside of their control. The price of BTC is down to $400, and we're also looking at another 15%+ difficulty increase in 6 days.

I expect the price of a S4 to be between 2.5 and 3 BTC ($1000 - $1200), which will make ROI in BTC very difficult...

but but.... they cant sell at loss... bro  ..... (like some idiots here say)

They even said...... Bitmain will only make enough inventory that they know its sold out.

Bitmain can always price higher, for some reason there are still people buying it..

oh really?

538  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Is my BTC lost? Mycelium question... on: September 19, 2014, 04:20:57 AM
Hi...I had the mycelium app on my phone.  I gave someone the BTC address for my mycelium wallet and they sent me some BTC.

A few days later I deleted the app from by phone, but reinstalled it two days later. Same person then had to send me 0.07 BTC, and I told them the same address was fine, not even thinking about it may be different after reinstalling.

Is there any way to get this 0.07 BTC back? I know the address it went to, but I don't know how to access it. I really need this BTC Sad

Thats funny.... no. You trashed your private key when you removed mycelium. Thats why the app has key backup feature.

Why are you such a 5 yrs old? Its not rocket science.
539  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price manipulation going on right now at the big exchanges on: September 19, 2014, 04:16:53 AM
Price manipulation may be going on, but the price of a bitcoin is still high compared to the cost of mining it. When the hashrate curve flattens out again (as it has before), or at least when the "cost of mining a bitcoin" flattens out near (but less than) a bitcoin, we will have a correct bitcoin price. This will happen either if the bitcoin price goes low enough or the hash rate goes high enough. Since the current hash rate is still going up, we don't have a low enough bitcoin price yet.

Have you got any idea how much it costs to mine 1 BTC currently?

No, but he likes to open his mouth anyway to sound like hes smart.

Too bad, the dumbest usually sound the loudest.

540  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra AIRE Miner 16nm PreOrder on: September 19, 2014, 03:54:27 AM
Cointerra contacted me early on to develop a driver for their 28nm offer. However I've heard and know precisely nothing about this new offering.
Pls for the sake of the community and your reputation. Dont work with them ever, they're probably gonna use your name to attract more newbies.

I wouldn't begrudge ckol for doing this. Its how he makes a living and quite simply if he won't work for them they will find someone who will. At least the buyers who get sucked into the preorder will know that 1) the software has a better chance of working and 2) at least someone on the inside has some morals.

So because you make a living by being a driver. Its ok for you to be a gateaway driver in a bank robbery?

Stupid, if you work with/for criminals, your reputation is tainted. I'm sure they would use his name to make it sounds more legit. His actual work probably wont benefit any of the "customers"..... or "investors"
