5201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paid the birth fee using bitcoin at the clinic, by accident. on: June 02, 2022, 10:32:16 AM
Congratulations bitzizzix! I wish you and your family all the best.
Did the doctor write a receipt for the paid bill? Wink

You should save this post and when your son is old enough and familiar with Bitcoin, show it to him.

Congratulations mate. But for security and privacy reasons, if I were you I'd edit out your son's name and birth date on your post. This might seem too overly paranoid but I wouldn't take my chances.
I wanted to recommend the same but you were quicker. Since we have scrappers that pick up all submitted posts by at least two forum members, OP would have to get in touch with them as well to get rid of all traces of the name. Not to mention that everything can be achieved for whatever reason.
5202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 02, 2022, 10:21:20 AM
Sort of like a trade? I can see that working give or take, would have a financial difference but I think it could be done. Think of it like this, Pogba plays for Barcelona, and De Jong plays for United.
Pogba can't be traded by Manchester United anywhere. He is out of contract already because his contract expired on 30 June. He is now a free agent and can decide where he wants to go together with his entourage.

Ivan Perisic is not a good signing in my opinion, he is 33 years old a bit old for a striker position and also his performance in the 2021 season with Inter Milan is not too bright, in Serie A he was only able to score 8 goals last season.
That's because Ivan Perisic is not a striker. He is a left midfielder/winger. Add to that around 10 assist and you got yourself a free player capable of hitting double digits in both goals and assists/season. Not a bad deal at all.

Filip Kostic from Eintracht Frankfurt has been linked with a move to Juventus. He is a Serbian international and apparently Juve striker Vlahovic has spoken well about him to the Juve management. Can't say I have followed his performances lately but he was named MVP of the UEFA Europa League competition for this season.
5203  Other / Meta / Re: Top Answer Feature on Beginners and Help Board on: June 02, 2022, 09:41:40 AM
You end up getting old useless posts while the new ones don't even show up in the search results.
There is a way to adjust that. When you search for something, pay attention to the Message age field. It's set to between 0 and 9999 days by default, so just adjust that to a shorter timeframe. For example, 0-31 days if you are sure the post/thread you are searching for was written sometimes in the last month.
5204  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: This wallet is watching-only on: June 02, 2022, 09:16:31 AM
An Electrum wallet doesn't become watch-only by itself. You created such a wallet by importing a Bitcoin address or public key, or multiple.
Maybe you have several wallets on your system and Electrum just opened the watch-only wallet by default. Click on File > Open and see if there are other wallet files in the default location.

What are you trying to do?
If you want to create a new wallet, click on Standard wallet > Create a new seed.
If you want to recover a wallet from seed, click on Standard wallet > I already have a seed.
If you want to import your private keys, click on Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys and import the private keys this time (not public keys or addresses).
5205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How many confirmations required for btc received to be safe from double spend? on: June 02, 2022, 09:06:48 AM
<Snip>
The chances of having a transaction of 3+ confirmations rejected or double spent isn't something I would worry about for normal Bitcoin usage. By normal I mean receiving $100s or even $1000 worth of BTC. If I were to ever receive millions or billions one day, I would wait for at least 6 confirmations. Not sure if that will even happen though. Grin

1 confirmation can be problematic and it doesn't have to involve a scam or double spend by the other party. The block could be orphaned. You see 1 confirmation, you release the money or goods, and the block your transaction got mined in gets rejected by the network. Then you are back to no confirmations. You weren't scammed and probably your transaction will be mined just fine in one of the upcoming blocks.
5206  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Multisig with Time Lock? on: June 01, 2022, 04:27:03 PM
I would have to agree with BlackHatCoiner when he said control your emotions. If you don't want to spend your Bitcoin today, don't do it. Look at me now, not spending my Bitcoin. Grin

Fancy scripts and setups, although useful in some cases can just create more problems. There might be a life-changing event that happens before 2030 where you absolutely need access to your coins and now you need permission by others to spend them. Sickness and disease of you and your loved ones can change all your priorities. Natural disasters can strike and even remove those who hold the keys to your setup from your life. Families break, marriages break, brothers become enemies of one another.

Be your own bank, right? But you be your own back, not others.
5207  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to receive Bitcoins with a cold wallet (Electrum offline wallet) on: June 01, 2022, 03:50:21 PM
So I think I get it.  Thus my next question: if my cold/offline wallet has no knowledge of transactions and is only an airgapped signing device, how is it that I can recover my Bitcoins from the 24 word seed phrase?  Wouldn't I have to have the Electrum watch-only wallet backed up as well?
Your hot Electrum wallet doesn't have the necessities to sign and broadcast Bitcoin transactions, thus there is nothing of significance in it to back up. It contains your master public key. If you were to lose that, it can be generated again thanks to your seed that is hopefully securely backed up. You can't spend Bitcoin with public keys. You can even post them publicly but that wouldn't be recommended for your privacy. The security of the funds wouldn't be affected though.

Electrum is just an interface and a software that lets you see what coins are yours. For obvious reasons, you can't do that with your cold storage because it can't retrieve that information from the nodes without an internet connection. But that doesn't mean there is nothing there. Compare it with a mirror. You just got a new haircut. Just because there is no mirror where you can see how you look like, that doesn't mean you didn't get a new haircut.
5208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How many confirmations required for btc received to be safe from double spend? on: June 01, 2022, 09:30:34 AM
What the average time it takes for 1 confirmation?  What about 2?  What about 3?  And what about 6?
Why not also ask about 20 and 50 confirmations as well?

You need a magic 8 ball to answer that question. I have seen two blocks being mined in the same minute. I have seen 3-4 blocks be mined in 1-2 minutes apart. And I have also seen that you need to wait for 40 minutes between two blocks. So take a wild guess how long it takes.
5209  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Receiving Address Question on: June 01, 2022, 09:15:41 AM
So why don't you trade with that person first and give him/her the receiving address Ledger Live generates for you? Do the trade first and then request a withdrawal from your casino account.

There are two other ways to do this:

  • We talked about this already. Create a new Bitcoin account on Ledger Live, generate a new address, and send that one to the person you expect to get a payment from. Use an address from your older BTC account for the gambling site.
  • Connect your Ledger to Electrum and use any of the receiving addresses on the "addresses" tab. There will be 20 of them. Give one to the gambling site and the other to the party you are trading with.

Problem solved.
5210  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Element in Hardware Wallets on: June 01, 2022, 09:04:39 AM
According to a well-known hardware hacker, STM microcontrollers are vulnerable to fault injection on a hardware level. You can patch it up or apply a bandage solution (like dkbit98 said) on the firmware and on a software level, but you are still dealing with an unsafe hardware component. Unsafe in the right hands.
5211  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: trouble with bitshield on: June 01, 2022, 08:40:45 AM
Unfortunately it looks like you got tricked and scammed into using a fake wallet that won't give you access to your coins.
The official site has no links to social media where you could ask the community if they were lucky in recovering their coins. A manual search found nothing on Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, or Reddit.

It's a long shot, but have you contacted support asking them why you can't send your coins out of the wallet?
I doubt they will be of any help but you have nothing more to lose. Ask them what the correct derivation path is for their software.
5212  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: TERRA LUNA - Da li se je netko zaj.... kao ja? on: June 01, 2022, 08:16:51 AM
Jel problem samo u meni, ili?
Vjerovatno nešto s tobom nije uredu. Grin

5213  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Coinsbee.com - Buy gift cards with about 50 crypto currencies! on: May 31, 2022, 01:55:50 PM
I have noticed something in your OP and I am not sure anyone mentioned it to you before. It's a big discussion with hundreds of posts so apologies if it was brought up before.

In your OP, you have that part that mentions the supported cryptocurrencies. Underneath the coin icons, there is a text that says: show all mobile phone credits brands. The link takes us to correct location (https://www.coinsbee.com/en/supported_cryptocurrencies), but the text on the the button is misleading. It's actually copied from the last part of your OP where you talk about mobile phone credit.

I guess it would be better if it said: show all supported cryptocurrencies instead.
5214  Economy / Gambling / Re: Pmalek’s Collection of The Best Gambling Threads and Discussions on: May 31, 2022, 01:25:23 PM
Even though I agree that both review platforms are good, I think these threads were intentionally left out due to this rule:

6.   No threads advertising a specific platform.
You are not wrong, but Maus0728 isn't either. It might be unfair not to include GamblingBro's thread when I have included a similar one by Bitcasinorank. As long as the content is interesting and of good quality and the advertisement of a site isn't the primary goal behind the thread, I don't mind it.

I remember having looked at some of GamblingBro's reviews and they are very good. I will add both threads to the collection.
5215  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: free crypto with learn and earn on: May 31, 2022, 09:32:03 AM
No one mentioned Brave Browser and the possibility to earn some Basic Attention tokens by looking at personalized ads they offer you. I assume they are still doing that. The browser supposedly blocks all third-party ads but lets you see those of their partners.

I am not recommending you use it, just mentioning there is that possibility as well. I would personally never consider doing that , so make sure you do your own research and understand what you are doing if you decide to give it a try.
5216  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is CoinGate a good option for accepting BTC payments? on: May 31, 2022, 09:17:09 AM
There is a good source of crypto payment processors on Bitcointalk that you can refer to and check what is available out there.
Bitcoin Payment Processors by Husires

He made two tables: one for hosted and the other for self-hosted services.
The OP also shows if the payment processor accepts coins via the LN, supports altcoins/fiat, minimum requirements, and the fee rates.
5217  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Gate.io shaddy activity on: May 31, 2022, 08:59:35 AM
That has got nothing to do with this case. That's an announcement made by the regulator of the Italian stock exchange and securities market where it is stated that Gate.io and all their connected sites are not licensed to offer crypto trading services in Italy and to Italian citizens. Because of that, they are ordered to stop providing such services.
5218  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: changenow.io are SCAMMERS, be careful, do NOT send them money on: May 31, 2022, 08:50:26 AM
ChangeNOW have been called selective scammers by some members. I don't use such platforms so I can't comment on the performance and quality of the service.

I can see that they have a live chat that is available around the clock. Have you spoken with one of their agents about the problem? Speaking about the problem, what is it exactly.
This is their forum representative. The person isn't that active and was last online back in March, but you can still try to contact them and provide precise information about what happened.

No one cares about one-line scam accusations btw. You have to do better than that.
5219  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Kriptomat and missing funds-are they in trouble? on: May 31, 2022, 08:39:56 AM
@shearwater
The response by the exchange representative does make sense. I can tell you from my personal experience that things like this can happen. They are not supposed to, but human error somewhere can cause it. My employer who I have been working for over a decade didn't pay my monthly fees at one time last year. I got in touch with him to see what was going on and he told me that everything was routed as usual and I was shown a bank statement as confirmation that they have sent the money. Went to my bank, spoke with the clerk, and was told the money never arrived. I sent them a transaction code my employer gave me and with this code they figured out what they did. I was never told what went wrong but I can only speculate that the money ended up in the wrong account.

Ask your bank to comply and do as the exchange requested.
