5201  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk is not doing well in Alexa rank because of the Merit system on: May 20, 2020, 08:52:49 PM
OP, I think your arguments is weak and your assumptions is wrong. Many people already said why you're wrong, I just want my 2 cents Satoshi. First, Alexa rank isn't main thing to determine popularity of website. Second, merit system isn't main factor why Bitcointalk Alexa rank decreased. It's probably insignificant factor at all. If you will check Bitcointalk traffic stats and charts of Bitcoin price, it has direct correlation. When Bitcoin goes up, Bitcointalk get more visitors and opposite. In the end of 2017, start of 2018, Bitcointalk had the most visitors, when Bitcoin price was ATH, there was peak of ICO projects.
And having less users isn't bad thing - I will pick quality over quantity. It's forum and main value of this forum is discussion. These people who came here here to earn easy money by spamming doesn't gives any benefits for this forum. Bitcointalk haven't lost anything after they left.
Why can argue about that Merit system isn't perfect, but in general I see only positive influence for Bitcointalk given by it.
5202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 20, 2020, 07:54:40 PM
Scottish League is small fry in numerous ways compared to the PL, but it's harsh that they relegated Hearts. They shouldn't be doing that unless they mathematically can't get out of the relegation zone. I'm sure they'll get that over-turned. They should do what the Belgium league did and just suspend relegation and play with the extra team next year.
Yeah, it's unfair situation and Belgian league made good decision. While French league did same thing and teams in relegation zone were planning to take legal actions against it.
Little Off-topic but Hearts were my favorite Scottish club 10-15 years ago when they had mad contraversial owner from my country Cheesy.

Quote
People are bound to test positive, but that's why they do the tests so they don't spread it so people testing positive is unlikely to halt things.
Yeah, and it shouldn't be reason to stop everything. In Germany there was positive tests too, but they just closed infected payers and staff in quarantine.

@DeathAngel, Completely agree. I'm not really sure why EPL players are so sceptical about return. Bundesliga restarted without any issues, Serie A and La Liga players also returned to training without any complaints.
5203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: May 20, 2020, 07:40:38 PM
Shortening the rest matches in Champions League and Europa league like you said looks a good solution. But how they can decide which stadiums for those matches? Home stadiums are always big advantage and I don't know how it looks like if they decide to make a dice, roll, something like that to choose which stadiums will hold those matches. It is weird and unfair for related clubs.

There will be serious losses for UEFA this season but it will still be good for them if they can finish the season. At least they will have some sort of income and is a good foundation for next season during the weird pandemic time.
As it was announced previously, UEFA will use neutral stadium for playoff  games, IIRC it will be Istanbul. It will be short few weeks tournament, something similar to World Cup. I think it's best possible scenario in current situation.
5204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: May 20, 2020, 07:19:47 PM
While we are waiting for restart of La Liga, there some important not related with Covid-19.
Legend of Athletic Bilbao, announced about retirement at 39 years old. He won't finnish this season because of surgeon:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/sport/amp/football/52743329
It's a bit sad, because of injury and pandemy, he won't get amazing farewell that he deserved. His last game had to be Basque derby on Copa del Rey final. There was good article about it yesterday:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/19/sports/soccer/aritz-aduriz-bilbao.html
Just this season he scored best goal of La Liga season against Barcelona:

5205  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Signature campaigns and some discussion about seo on: May 19, 2020, 08:42:46 PM
Only owners of websites know answers to your questions. Probably even managers of campaigns don't know this information. But no doubt that campaigns have positive impact, otherwise they wouldn't make it. I'm not big expert in SEO, but from what I know, campaigns help to improve it. But I doubt that it have significant effect on SEO rankings. There is no way how signature campaign can move website into high place in Google search results.
5206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FOX prepared to add virtual fans and crowd noise to NFL broadcasts on: May 19, 2020, 08:36:42 PM
Wait? Is it there actual fans and crowd noise on NFL games? Cheesy I don't follow American football, but at least in NBA there is almost no atmosphere - people just watch games or eat instead of cheering for their team.
I watched some South Korean football league games where they play recorded sounds from fans. It doesn't sounds as bad as I expected, but I don't think it's really needed. Yes, it's weird and difficult to watch football in empty stadiums, when you can hear players and managers talking. But it's current reality and we have to accept that.
5207  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Ad Networks that pay out in Bitcoin? on: May 19, 2020, 07:42:01 PM
If your website is eligible for Google Ad Sense I would recommend you on applying this in your website rather than crypto-paid Ad networks. From what I have seen their payout is considerably smaller compared to what Google Ad Sense can pay you. Their ads are sometimes also out of controlled and even make it disturbing for some viewers as they don't screen the ads very well. You'll also see a lot of HYIP sites, scams, sand even phishing sites being shows to your viewers depending on what sketchy ad network you will pick so really don't pick a ad network just because they pay in Bitcoin as it might not be worth it.
@examplens is right. If OP is looking for Bitcoin advertising networks, then probably Adsense isn't an option for him. Adsense requirements for publishers is really high, not every website can be accepted. And maybe OP just want to stay anonymous and don't use his real name and bank account. Finally, we are onnBitcoin forum, so maybe it's nothing strange that he want to get paid in Bitcoin.
I'm not sure about every ad network, but these which I used have option not to advertise NSFW or investment websites, you just have to enable it in your dashboard.
5208  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 19, 2020, 07:29:38 PM
I read in the local newspaper, LFP France league 1, considering continuing the season through 3rd August, which is the last day for the end of all leagues. IDK is it true, or just speculation. Still, I think, PL is much more serious and much more money is there. they can't just let the season end. Bundes league just restarted, I guess they will follow how it's going on and use the same model.
Strange. I can't find more details about it, only found some French articles :/. But it would be really strange to continue season after it was already ended and PSG were crowned.
Bundesliga now is good example for other major leagues. EPL and other leagues simply can't afford to cancel season and lose so much money. No doubts that French or Eredivisie would continue if not their governments.
5209  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Prolonged border closure on: May 18, 2020, 08:01:28 PM
Main problem here are the people who are working abroad as their main source of income. If they cannot go back to their work abroad, then that's going to be a big big issue.
People who are working abroad are allowed to travel, but it's quite difficult without plane flights.
Though, my friend travelled to Germany by feryy, then by car to Netherlands. And he didn't even had to spend 14 in quarantine - he started to work next day after arrival.
What about the import and export? If borders are closed then imagine the life living in a country like North Korea.
Obviously, borders aren't closed for important and export - it would cause complete collapse of economy which is already hurt seriously. Trucks with good are moving as usual between countries as usual.
Closed borders now mainly affect tourism sector - airline companies, tourism agencies, hotels and etc.
5210  Other / Meta / Re: Imagine bitcointalk.org in 2140 on: May 18, 2020, 07:48:28 PM
Unfortunately I don't have crystal ball, so I can only predict... It's very long time until 2140 and it's hard to imagine how world will look then. Damn, we don't have idea how we will live after 10 or 20 years. Just look how world looked like 120 years ago in 1900. You see how much everything has changed, I think in next 120 years there will be even bigger changes.
We don't know how internet will look then, we don't know will Bitcoin still will be a thing. But as @Watoshi-Dimobuto
said, it's most likely that Bitcointalk still will be run on current SMF version and Epochtalk still won't be ready to use Smiley.
5211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 18, 2020, 07:20:08 PM
While EPL clubs are allowed to return to training, Scottish Premiership ended season and announced Celtic as champions - they were ahead Rangers by 13 points.
BTW, is it there any news when they are planning to continue Championship season? I only remember reading that all leagues bellow League Two were cancelled without any promotion/relegation between divisions.
Oh, and if anyone wants to watch the Bundesliga games Skybet are live streaming them all. It's free to sign up. Can't say I'm that bothered about most games but I'll definitely be watching Dortmund Vs Bayern on the 26th.
I watched most of Bundesliga games during weekend and now I watch Werder - Bayer game and what I can say - watching football in empty stadiums gives weird feelings, but such football is better than nothing. But fact that we will see empty stadiums in most leagues at least until 2021 makes me sad...
5212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: May 18, 2020, 07:07:33 PM
Yesterday I was switching TV channels and accidentally found NASCAR race in action. It's first big racing event after very long break. I'm not fan of this racing series, but it was so good to watch real live race instead of various simulators. And different from football, absence of fans doesn't feels that much during race.
Race was won by Kevin Harvick https://www.motorsport.com/nascar-cup/news/kevin-harvick-wins-darlington/4793441/?nrt=119
Here is extended highlights if somebody is interested:

The car that is going to compete in 2021 is going to be fully enviromental friendly.
Apart from that, it is going to be of a great design as teams want to make the car reach high speed without any engine power but more to be aerodynamic when driving in the tracks.
They won't compete with this car in 2021, it was delayed until 2022 because of COVID-19 pandemy. Development of completely new car is freaking expensive and it's really difficult times for F1 teams.
5213  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is Bitcointalk.org on: May 17, 2020, 08:53:13 PM

Maybe someone who is in signature campaign is struggling to reach post quota. So, he create alt, ask silly question and then he can reply using his main account(s). Profit. Maybe it's not this case in this topic but I'm pretty sure that some members are doing it.

is this regular? i can not believe that someone is doing that, but if that is the thing, it should be criticized and marked with negative trust, since it is some kind of scam, when you create fog and try to discuss with themselves
I don't know, because there is no way how you can prove this, unless you have IP logs of user or other proofs which let to connect accounts. There was some discussion about it in past, but I can't find it now, but I completely agree, it derserves red trust.
Maybe it's not that big problem now, but in prime times of bounties some people had whole farms of accounts and they made lot of spam replying to their own made topic.
5214  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Life will most likely never return to normal, or at least in a very long time on: May 17, 2020, 08:29:57 PM
Well, life is returning to normal slowly, step by step in countries which were less affected by virus. They are opening restaurants, schools and etc. When walking in the city, I don't feel that we live in quarantine. Probably only place which reminds it is shops were people still forced to wear masks. And there is hand sanitizers at every entrance.
I think it mostly depends on what will happen in autumn. If there will be second wave and it will hard, life will not return to normal very soon.
But if there will be no second wave, or it will be very minimal, we will return to normal life fully in 2021. I hope to see stadiums full of people, concerts and other big events soon - I really miss it...
Clubbing is not a normal behavior it i s a waste of time and a waste of money.
It is good that we are keeping clubs close so that people will be focused on more important things.
What?! Sorry, but it's biggest nonsense that I read today. So, what people are supposed to do? Just work, eat and sleep? What about social life? Maybe you don't like clubbing, but I don't see nothing wrong in going to club to dance and take few shots.
5215  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is Bitcointalk.org on: May 17, 2020, 07:54:45 PM
OP, I think you confused Bitcointalk with another forum:
https://cryptotalk.org/
Probably it would be better to ask this question there. Because Bitcointalk isn't a workplace, I haven't heard that theymos are paying for posts here. If you came here just to earn money by posting, you're in wrong place.

And usually they have same patterns :
- Create a thread & asking question (mostly) about how to earn money from this forum
- After asking question, OP will suddenly offline and never respond to our reply.

Any idea?
Maybe someone who is in signature campaign is struggling to reach post quota. So, he create alt, ask silly question and then he can reply using his main account(s). Profit. Maybe it's not this case in this topic but I'm pretty sure that some members are doing it.
5216  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of Scam Emails like this on: May 17, 2020, 07:44:53 PM
I get such messages even to email which have zero connections with crypto - I've never used it to signup on crypto related websites.
Best thing what you can do - just don't click on links that you got in email, even if it looks 100% legit.
Another thing - make few email addresses. First - main which is used to for most important websites like PayPal or your bank account and other stuff. Don't use it for crypto related websites.
Another - for main crypto related websites - trading platforms, Bitcointalk and etc.
And the last one - for less important signups which may send you spam - bounties, airdrops, giveaways, faucets, less reputed exchanges and etc.
These steps will prevent your main inbox from being compromissed  and getting lot of spam and scam messages.
5217  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Party - Discord server on: May 17, 2020, 07:26:16 PM
I joined this server with my Bitcointalk username. I've never used Discord before, so I'll have to check how everything works there. It's good to have place for some less serious talks Smiley
But even if it's not official Bitcointalk server, I'm also a bit concerned about people with bad intentions who may try to impersonate well known Bitcointalk members...
5218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: May 17, 2020, 04:51:22 PM
@logfiles you need to watch the highlights of the Dortmund game asap because not only did you miss the game, but you also missed the new way of celebrations from the players i.e. shoulder touches, celebrating at least 2 meters away from each other etc.
Well, not everyone if following these guidelines. Hertha player Boyata even kissed his teammate cheek after goal scored:
https://www.goal.com/en/news/bundesliga-players-wont-be-punished-for-not-social/y6ufjek7206w1avqoi28h4oub
IMO, such restrictions isn't needed. I don't think that something bad can happen if they will celebrate goals as usual or shake hands before and after game. There is no social distancing during the game, players touch each other multiple times, so, goal celebration wouldn't be something different.
5219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: May 17, 2020, 04:40:50 PM
Messi: ''I've been lucky enough to play in the Champions League every season and I know you can't win it playing like we were playing."
The players of Barcelona don't seem to accept the ideas of their new coach and don't trust him.

Strange but the article I read had a very different spin to it. Remember we are reading translated versions so I would not really trust any of these sources. The one I understood was: Messi didn't think Barca could win champions league if they keep playing it the way they have been playing. So they need to change and change fast (I thought he was referring to even the way of last season).
I wouldn't blindly trust what is written in this article, especially because it comes from Marca - they are biased to write negative things about Barca. For me it doesn't looks that Messi is referring to manager in this words, it's more about how they were playing in general this season.

The lest time coinpot was down on February for a week.
For a week? Are you sure about that? I can't remember Coinpot being out for a week. It's just one or two days usually.
yes but beware, ban time is maybe coming after...
About what ban time you're talking about?
