nah you would get tired of being endlessly blitzed on drugs.

Kickbacks are not referrals. Kickbacks are private 'under-the-table' payments. A prime example was one of the eastern-European hosting farms that unknown to the actual owners of the hardware, flashed all Bitmain miners to be hosted with them to use 1 of the DevFee 3rd-party firmware's out there.

Yes, how the DevFee is set and how much it is is up to the folks that modified the firmware and yes they do 'volume discount' deals with farms using their wares. They are of course privately negotiated deals but it is still just normal business practice. Problem with the above is that the hosting site made no mention of it to their customers. Folks only found out after the hosting company closed and folks that elected to have their hardware sent back to them or sent elsewhere discovered the miners had been flashed to non-oem firmware.

Referrals are fully public promotional marketing. Along with the volume discounts for hosting sites there can also be direct payment of a percentages of the DevFees collected back to hosting sites. Again, fine - as long as the folks who own the hardware are told about the 3rd party FW option and can say yes or no to it. Being paid for flashing en masse miners sent to a company w/o knowledge or consent of their owners - that is illegal kickback.

well this was wrong ,but was the host the villain or the host and the pool.

the pool may not know that the host was diverting without permission from the gear owner.

definitely a sleazily action by the host.

Does not matter if it is noise or if we drop under 20k or even go to the original terrible predictions for this bear say 12-13k.  Or if we bounce right back to 25k and then 30k.

Because of my discussions here and my mining setup I have decided to go about this in a different manner.

We all know btc will not do 120% on the button 20 years in a row.

For me at 66 I have decided that 76 is my time line for dca and buy the dip hodl moves.

And they are separate from my mining moves (this is due to JJG's influence)

I look at gold in the 1992 to 2003 range it was 200-400 the whole time

it hit 1848 by 2011 and from 2011 to 2023 it has been in a 1064 to 2050 slot

If BTC is to be in a 28.7 to 69 slot from dec 2020 to now.

the same rise of 4.5 to 5.0 could happen over next 8 years and maybe we push 300k by 2031-2032

https://www.moneymetals.com/gold-price

charts of gold are interesting when cherry picked as follows:

1992 to 2003 = flat slot
2003 to 2011= big jump
2011 to 2023 = flat slot

so cherry pick btc and does dec 2020 to feb 2023 = 1992 to 2003 for gold

thus  2023 to 2025 btc could = 2003 to 2011 for gold

and we are near 300k really quick

I am thinking we do not see this speed.

So I set a 10 year plan for my dca + dip and hodl all independent of mining.

so 2032 nov or bust. for my current 'investment buys'

Fud for all

from above

"Starting with that inflation data. The Labor Department (opens in new tab) said its producer price index (PPI), which measures how much suppliers are charging businesses for goods, rose 0.7% month-over-month in January. This was the biggest increase since June, and higher than the 0.4% rise economists were expecting. On an annual basis, PPI was up 6%. Core PPI, which excludes volatile energy and food prices, was 0.6% higher from December to January and up 4.5% year-over-year.
This morning's PPI data follows Tuesday's concerning consumer price index (CPI) reading, which heightened concerns the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates more than expected and keep them higher for longer."

5204  Economy / Economics / Re: Cheap food: can you beat this price in your country? on: February 17, 2023, 02:28:51 AM
When it comes to food, it is upto the end user who makes it. There are families that live the entire month with the same $35. Between different countries this changes and restaurants offering such low price meals is really impressive and when the competence is high, to stay on the top it is a must to compromise on the price. Over time the price will be increased, which is the base of business. Lets see whether the price is being increased over time.

yeah even here in the states careful shopping you can get a lot of food cheaply.

A local supermarket had a deal for chicken soup.

cleaned checked breast no bones or skin. 4 pounds

2 lbs carrots

1 quart broth

2 pounds celery

1 pound of noodles

add a quart of water.

and a 20 oz bag of broccoli

cost is $12 for 4 pound of chicken breast.
the bag of broccoli is 1 dollar
all the rest was free as a promo

total is $13 dollars and  add the time and gas to cook it is 3 hours and about 50 cents in gas.

grand total of $13.50

this is a very large pot of chicken soup.

very little carbs lots of protein good quality food.

About 10 plates of soup or ten meals.

So $1.35 a high quality food /meal home cooked.

I was able to buy this deal 4 times and my wife and I ate 40 dishes of it.  I played around and added more veg and some cheese so grand total may have been 4 x 13.50 = 54+6 or 60 bucks

say $1.50 a meal.

This type of deal is not constant I may get it one month a year.

Maybe a few other deals and I can be low cost  and diabetic friendly which is hard to do for me.

Just found a restaurant where the individual meal costs only 0,57$! Meal composed by rice, toasted cassava flour and black bean stew with few pieces of pork meats. Feeds one person decently and the taste is good. You can eat the whole month for less than 35$, considering lunch and dinner daily! That is perfect for cutting expenses with food!

Do you know any restaurants which serve cheaper meals than that where you live? It must be a meal, not snacks.

High carb content very unhealthy for long term diet.

Likely it tastes nice.

I would suggest it one or two times a week no more.

One of the major issues for the worlds diets is not enough cheap quality proteins.

Here is the USA they directly attacked the general population by raising the price of eggs from 1.19 a dozen to 4.49

Eggs were $1.19 in July of 2021 it is a huge price jump.

my 20% number over the next 20 years brings us to 640k

in the year 2043.

20% is not crazy high pie in the sky number.

lets check 30%

Brings us to 230k by 2033

and 3.167 million in 2043

my guess is the range is 20% to 30%

My point is if you prep for that range  you can do some planning for that range.

1.2 a year is more than good enough.

2003 gold was 400 it is now 1800.  if it had done 1.2 a year we would be at 15,335

at 1.2 a year BTC  in 20 years.

Feb 01 >>>>>       16x
Feb 08>>>>>       18x
Feb 15>>>>>        20x

I also purchased 4x+4x+4x  at 15.7 15.9 16.1 back in November 2022

So My coin purchases have been 32x of fiat since nov 2022

As JJG suggested I am keeping these numbers separate from my mining earnings and gear purchases.

My goal will be a minimum of 200x units of purchased btc so I have 168x to go or 84 weeks of dca.

Too early to judge, but things are looking ugly, seems like the news/rumors that Russia (as a state) is building some large mining farms is real.

If you're referring to that $12mil farm it's not just rumors, it's real, the funds have been approved and they are going to mine at some damn cheap electricity rates, but it's still only 30 000 miners that will be deployed..some time from now, so it will be probably just the tip of the iceberg.
Meanwhile, till that is built the pace is going bananas,

Quote
Current Pace:   112.4020%  (697 / 620.10 expected, 76.9 ahead)

this is just insane, I understand that the price made it more profitable to mine but we're still looking at just one extra cent per ths/s and 1$ a day per machine, I really can't acknowledge that such hashrate was standing by and just got powered up by this little swing in profitability. If this is true how much more will come online at 10 cents/th?
This is going to be an interesting halving, really interesting!  Roll Eyes

Yeah my interest is if BTC was 20 cents a th could we 2x the hash in a year
5212  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2023 Diff thread now opened. on: February 16, 2023, 02:45:39 AM
I still say that it is those storage units/warehouses full of unused miners that some of the mega farms were reported to be sitting on a couple months ago are either finally now being installed and brought online or were sold other business entities - farms - (to cover expenses/just move money around) and are now coming online...

a 140 th miner burning 3kwatts does 75 kwatts at 7 cents  5.25 power cost it now earns about 0.0812 cents x 140 = 11.36

that would make me put thousands on line  (if I had 10mw at 7 cents cost)

I could do 3000 miners or 420 ph. that is 34k - 16k = 18k a day pay off the gear in no time.
5213  Economy / Speculation / Re: How was your belief formed? on: February 15, 2023, 11:50:06 PM
The 2017 uptick followed by the huge 2018 gear growth convinced me it is going to last.

Btw right now we are far off ath of 69k but just like 2018 gear growth is massive.

So i have faith in another strong 💪 price rally

Buy at 4.10
Sell at 4.45
Holding time for pumping= less than 5 hours
Today my trading profits $117

I shared a screenshot of a Short trading/Day Trading today. The principle of all trading whether short trading or long trading is same, you have to buy in dumping market and sell the invested coins in pumping market.  But if the market is dumping again after buying then you need to hold until the market starts pumping again. However, there are some cryptocurrencies that need to be held after investing in the market for a long time.

I DONT care that it is an alt. But I do care that you are ignoring the tax consequences of that sale.

So are you in a no tax country?

You left it out.

I am USA based that sale could cost me 33% tax about 117 means 39 in tax.

5219  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving is Wasting? on: February 14, 2023, 02:57:14 PM
Being a student is so hard nowadays. I've been spending a lot for school requirements and different activities related to education. I'm stuck with this saying "SAVING IS WASTING", thinking that with the little amount of money I have, should I put it on an investment or should I just save it for my future expenses or emergencies. I'm also living in a country in which there are limited side hustles I could do to earn extra for investment, so I'm troubled somehow.

Cash is king and saving it is clever.

or  saving is wasting?

which is true?

answer both are wrong and both are right it is a guessing game.

Example I save 20 dollars a week for a year under my mattress and I have 1040 cash. Let's say inflation was 7% so it is worth $967.20 seems like I lost out.

But wait a minute I find an item being sold for 700 and I know it is worth 1800 the cash wants cash I give him the 700. I have 340 left and sell the item for 1800 I now have 2140.

So cash was king.

But you need to be able to make a deal like that with the cash. Or saving was wasting.
5220  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2023 Diff thread now opened. on: February 14, 2023, 01:36:26 PM
well 2 new m30s+ due in about 2 hours time.

brings us from 1.5 to 1.7ph and .8ph = 2.5 ph Grin
What's your reason for going with the 30s?
The 50s are better J/TH and $/TH and total TH

Well I don't know the quality of the liquid cooler.

2x 30s+  cost me 3200

2x 50 would be 5400

SO if the cooler sucks I save 1800 maybe 2000 buying the 30s+. which is the cooler cost.

If the cooler is good we will likely get 10 more and use m50's in them

If the cooler sucks we will likely go back to s19j pro gear.

m30s+ = Investing 3200 + 2000 = 5200 plus import taxes .

m50 = Investing 5400 + 2000 = 7400 plus import taxes.

going all s19j pro I can pay 1776 for 1 includes all so 4 x 1776 = 7104 for all truly cheaper but my cooling issues won't let me  max with air cooled gear.

we have 1.7+ .8 = 2.5 ph for btc     we have power for 25   3 kwatt units we don't have cooling

Also I know 'buysolar' can use this cooler in his home he has a 115kwatt solar array so this will work in his house if it is not good for the farm.

So bad cooler means s19j air cooled

good cooler means m50's and maybe 6-10 coolers

@ mikeywith yeah there is a bit of gear fomo 100th miners were selling at 15k they are now under 2k A lot of people like me with good cheap power but other issues (cooling) are buying.

2 days and 6 hours in we are plus 9.1%
