5241  Economy / Gambling / Re: Hillary vs Trump betting: what are the best sites? on: November 03, 2016, 09:06:57 PM
I dont think that this is right though. You said that the odds right now is 1.32 on hillary and 3.3 on trump. But you calculate it with 1.98 on hillary? How can this thing is a guarantee win? Does not make sense to me though. If you want to make this guarantee win you must bet on minimum 40% more on hillary then you can make this equal or put more to get more profit

Hrm... maybe being able to read and do basic algebra would help. Consider using your time on the internet to learn that instead of posting garbage for a few cents. Knowledge is money Wink

There is something wrong in your calculation. Hillary's odds are around 1.3 on the best website and for trump its around 3.5 or so. I think you made a calculation somewhere.

Nothing's wrong. Did you forget to see the key words, "for example"?

These are example odds. Why do I care about the actual odds when I'm explaining how to hedge?

On Sportsbet.io, the odds are 2.45 for Trump and 1.35 for Clinton right now.

If you're trying to profit off the odds changes, then bet on whoever you think will be more likely to win - then once their odds increase (and hence the other candidate's payout increases) bet on the other. There's risks and rewards to betting on a single market vs. trying to hedge.
5242  Economy / Reputation / Re: Despised Icon-- ALT of Atari--,Logan-- and now flooding the forum with new accts on: November 03, 2016, 12:45:12 AM
A DT member should of put it on there when he was asking and it was known he was Atari and AmexSaleServe which I pointed out in his selling threads but nobody listened and I removed my posts because he said I was giving false accusations on his posts and had the evidence. That being the proof enough to give me negative feedback and use that as the reference link towards my profile's trust page.

It would have been good for them to have put it there to warn people, but remember: caveat emptor - the "victims" should be smart enough to see through the thinly-veiled scam. It doesn't take a genius to see that no collateral and no reputation means a bad deal.

He still is selling and people are still doing deals and giving him the benefit of the doubt against just that one negative that is showing from a trusted member for me atleast (KWH's trust given as of now).

Like I said - if they're stupid enough to fall for it, then they'll learn their lesson and that'll be that. If they don't learn their lesson, then you wouldn't have been able to stop anything anyway - they're just going to continue being swindled and there's no way to prevent that.
5243  Economy / Gambling / Re: Hillary vs Trump betting: what are the best sites? on: November 03, 2016, 12:17:20 AM
Don't.

The best odds are gone.

Wait for election night when there'll be crazy odds fluctuation - if you bet smart you can make guaranteed profit

There's no thing such as guaranteed profit, if there was, you would take 1 million dollars loan and go all in on your "guaranteed winner", but you will not because we don't know who is going to win.

I also think Hillary will win and it's relatively safe to bet on a Hillary win, but we don't know, Trump may win too, its getting close..

I'm pretty sure that you're missing the point. You can "play the odds" and try to bet such that you're +ev whether Hillary or Trump win - by betting and seeing if the odds change in your favor (you bet on a favorite, and then the payout decreases for them and increases for the other - now you can bet on the other candidate and profit no matter the result)

For example... on the day, Hillary's odds are at 1.98x and Donald Trump's odds are at 1.98x as well (arbitrary example)

You "short" on Hillary Clinton where you expect her payout to decline. Say you bet 10 BTC.

This is the case and then now her odds are at 1.32x and Trump's odds are at 3.3x (like on DB right now) then now you can make a bet on Trump odds to get a guaranteed profit.

If Hillary wins, your prior bet gives you a profit of 9.8 BTC.
If Trump wins, you lose 10 BTC...
So you prevent that by betting at least 3.04 BTC on Trump. If you want a profit, then you bet 6 BTC which would provide the following:

Your total bet is 16 BTC.
If Hillary wins, you win 19.8 BTC - 16 BTC = 3.8 BTC
If Trump wins, you win 19.8 BTC - 16 BTC = 3.8 BTC

Guaranteed profit of 3.8 BTC. Unless somehow the other candidates win.

You can check the math:

To choose a profitable bet with the increased Trump odds... let n represent the amount you bet on Trump

If Hillary wins, your profit is 19.8 - n - 10 (winnings - hedge bet - initial wager)
If Trump wins, your profit is 3.3n - n - 10 (winnings - hedge bet - initial wager)

19.8 - n  - 10 = 3.3n - n - 10
9.8 - n = 2.3n - 10
19.8 = 3.3n

n = 6

So you bet 6 BTC. And you get a profit of 19.8 - n - 10 = 3.8 BTC

Use this Sports Betting Hedge Calculator to simplify things so you that don't have to do algebra.

I don't know anybody who would send money to someone for a poker tournament who hasn't even brought up any statistics, has 0 reputation, and is looking for a $10 buy-in.

Keep in mind, this is a SINGLE buy-in and is "in two hours". With such little to back up and the fact that it's only within 2 hours, nobody's going to be stupid enough to stake them.

How would a good poker player not have $10? Case in point: he's not a good poker player, and he's just scamming.

Q: Does the negative trust affect you at all?
A: No.

Especially considering the fact that they're from negative-trust members all from the same day... nobody would take that seriously.

What an idiot, though - leaving his phone number public. Looks like the area code originates from North Carolina.
5245  Economy / Reputation / Re: Despised Icon-- ALT of Atari--,Logan-- and now flooding the forum with new accts on: November 02, 2016, 09:57:55 PM
-breaking the quoteladder-

Why would I worry about the 0.1btc that he threatened me to pay to him as you can clearly see from the pm log near the end of this cluster fu(ks attempts to get more funds from me. In total I paid pretty close to 0.08btc which I don't find as an extreme amount to lose if it saves someone else from getting taken to the cleaners to this desperate excuse of a person like I had.

Well, to be blunt, most people would be smart enough not to loan bitcoins out to newbies like that without collateral (usually people who can afford to loan are smart with their money). And in the unlikely event that the guy tries to scam by "offering collateral" then the loaner should be smart enough to escrow it.

The fact that the person continues to use the hyphens in the name is kind of stupid - don't they think that they're going to be found out almost immediately?

Look. At the end of the day, every time a newbie asks for a loan, there's going to be about 5-6 spam replies about "no collateral" or "you're a newbie lol" and that should ward off most people - along with the fact that a negative will probably be applied within  24 hours.

If someone's still going to loan regardless of that fact, then whatever you do cannot prevent them from doing so - they'll learn their lesson in due time.
5246  Economy / Reputation / Re: Despised Icon-- ALT of Atari--,Logan-- and now flooding the forum with new accts on: November 02, 2016, 08:25:10 PM
Report his PM's and block. If he posts too much feedback, ask Theymos to remove them. He may or may not.
He is Untrusted and bright red, his feedback means nothing.
He does not show as bright red to me.
I believe that only happens when a DT member (level 1 or 2) gives him negative trust.
This would warn others not to fall for these conniving ways that he strives for requesting in so many threads (using multiple accounts as you have witnessed and have been a part of with that one from Amexsaleserve).

Look again.
Ok now I do see as a red.
Will do the first part as you say and see what comes out of it if anything.

Thanks to you KWH.

YW. You now know why many will NOT work with Newbies. Keep in mind, many are not new just new accounts created to scam as much as possible.
Still going at it:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1666470.0

I don't know why more DT aren't tagging this filth so to stop this nonsense.
Admins should step in because nobody else is really taking anything he is doing here seriously.
He has taken $300 possibly in false trades and defaulted loans from everybody in the forum thus far in the past two weeks(started with me on Oct 23th) just from these 4 alt accounts.
I am not paying 0.1btc to anyone for removal of a trust rating received from a scammer. Nor why should I?

Then don't worry about the 0.1 btc.

He may have scammed funds but that's it. I think most people would deny a loan request or a trade from a newbie like that who has no reputation and a high likelihood of being a scammer. And if they do accept it like you did, then they learn a valuable lesson - one that's hopefully worth the amount they lost.
5247  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The Glam Life Settlement, Exposing Betcoin.ag and Betsoft on: November 02, 2016, 12:22:32 PM
Out of curiosity, how much did they end up paying him for his silence?
BTC50

They settled on just BTC50  Shocked wasn't the original payout in the 1000's of bitcoins?

I know it's better than nothing and BTC50 is a good amount of money but this guy won a lot more than that from what i remember, i think he was also a big gambler so BTC50 may not be that much to him.

Regardless of the amount, would you rather choose to receive 50 BTC (pretty much) guaranteed or would you rather try to get the jackpot against an already-shady casino? We're all human - it's reasonable to choose the settlement.

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
5248  Other / Archival / Re: Cryptodevil Gave Me Negative Trust? on: October 30, 2016, 01:08:52 AM
This is definitely a ponzi scheme (though may be profitable to invest at first so could be interesting).
Could you show proof of your (D)DoS protection (I.E. the site you are using to cover it so we can tell). If you've a dedicated server, you can merely take a picture of it in it's server room to prove that you have a dedicated server.

(Someone should really have noticed that you can't double your earnings in 1000 hours on a continuous basis - something usually crashes)!

I don't completely agree with the negative trust, but it seems like it could be a simple fix of just deleting what I've bolded.

Perhaps cryptodevil's thinking was that you're inciting the possibility of profit via ponzi schemes and thus potentially allowing people to start the cycle of ruin - more would be encouraged to join if they see that the ponzi is paying out initially. Usually, that's how they scheme people - by luring them in in the beginning with hopes of profit (or with promotions) and then pulverizing it all down to dust.

Plus, a big reminder: a lot of ponzi schemes are scams from the beginning, and so any money you think would earn you a profit even if you're quick would be gone in the wind.
5249  Economy / Lending / Re: I need a loan on: October 30, 2016, 12:05:39 AM
As I said I'm not selling my account.
This was just a question that I did but I'm not selling it.

And why would you ask that question, especially on a thread where OP is buying accounts?

Asking the question, "Is my account in good condition" on that specific thread seems to indicate that you want to sell it.

Ignoring this, you're still missing:

a signed message
collateral
a repayment amount
a purpose for the loan

Unfortunately, the oldest address you've posted is from just over a month ago (159Th5t6dSzNp1wyEAtZ9bfmsPxicBddb2) so there isn't really too much proof you owned the account since its inception.

As far as I can tell, the connection is still spotty but relatively stable at this point - there were some short disconnects, but for the most part the connection troubles have settled down.

Have to be concerned about account details being leaked this time again?

Probably not.

You are caring about others quality and inactivity but you have forgot to do your responsibilities actively/consciously that too for two weeks ?

I only just noticed now, but it appears that you hadn't updated my rank for the past 2 weeks. This weeks payment for me should be 0.042 instead of the 0.0399 for a Sr. Member. Sorry I didn't catch it. Thanks!

There's a total deficit of 0.00392 across the past two weeks.

It's a small amount, but I'd like my rank to be updated for next time Smiley

(Do not wonder, this is an account just created only for this post. It is a privilege supported by Theymos to protect identity.)

It's a small mistake, and I can be forgiving about it. Why would I be angry over ~$3? Compensation would be nice, but what I'm mainly concerned about is just having it updated for next time so that the mistake is fixed.

I mean, the fact that I didn't even realize it until two weeks later just shows how small it was.

Mistakes happen, even OP is a human. That's an example of where automated campaigns are superior.

One of the very few examples.
5252  Other / Meta / Re: Alert for mentions on the forum on: October 29, 2016, 02:16:26 PM
I doubt that this feature would be implemented because it would eat so many server resources.
A script you use yourself can be made - to search every... 30 minutes or so. It doesn't have to be a direct feature on the forum. Even a bookmark button to just do the search function with your name and recent mentions would be fine - it doesn't have to be anything that's implemented.

Why do you need to know when you're mentioned? Save that vanity crap for Twitter..

I have already stated in my first post as to why I wanted this:

I'm one that enjoys being active in a discussion, and though adding a thread to my watchlist is great, I personally don't want more than 10 or 20 threads on there at once - it floods it way too much... and since I post in different threads often, I want to avoid adding too many to see if there are replies or not.

Don't hand me vague replies. Reply with information if possible.

Nothing to do with vanity. Don't make assumptions.
5253  Other / Meta / Re: Deletion of posts on: October 29, 2016, 12:48:52 AM
But what am I supposed to write in this forum, one line suffices.  It happened here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=715972.0
It's pointless to justify a wrong with another. "Two wrongs don't make a right". It may be acceptable to post one-liners in those threads, sure, but what about all the other posts that you've made that are also one-liners and clearly worthless?

Forum rules

1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]

its impossible to prepare for every situation .

Why wuld they block it though?

wow I never even knew such stuff existed  if it did tht would be nice. does anyone know?

I wonder if one day local stores can take BTC in major cities

Even when only considering the posts in the game thread - although they CAN be "constructive", it should only that way if it's posted infrequently. If my entire account's post history consists of one-line "teamA vs teamB 1-0" then is that really acceptable?
5254  Economy / Gambling / Re: Chess Game that Used Bitcoin? on: October 29, 2016, 12:43:56 AM
You may expect them to spend as much or even much more than that. That is not a new thing, to make money from any business, you need to spend money, more the money in your invesment means more the returns, hence I am not surprised to see a bot engulping that huge amount.

You're really ignorant, aren't you?

11 of the top 50 are commercial engines. The top engine, however, is free AND open-source. Time has been spent to making engines more efficient, but if you think that the creation of Chess engines is based solely on a business perspective, then you need to re-evaluate your life.

You don't even know what you're talking about, at all.

"hence I am not surprised to see a bot engulping that huge amount"? What huge amount?  You clearly haven't bothered to go to the site, nevermind read anything relevant to price on it.

"You may expect them to spend as much or even much more than that." More than what? adaseb hasn't mentioned anything relating to the price and neither have I. Stop spamming.

5257  Other / Meta / Re: [Howto] sell my bitcointalk account on: October 27, 2016, 11:18:26 PM
Also, you should not have posted or hinted people that you are selling that account. It will get tagged as the account being sold or that it has a history of encouraging account farming/sale and will get a neutral or negative trust on it. (I hope what you are posting with is not the account for sale).

OP account is already tagged as "account for sale", but i'm not sure if it is legit tag.. How we can know if OP want sell this account? Maybe he want sell another one..

Does it really matter? What useful benefit does selling an account give to the community? How constructive do you think a bought account's post quality is going to be? The only possible reason that someone would really want to buy an account for means that aren't related to spamming or scamming is to switch identities and drop their original alias - but there's only so many cases that should happen for that.

Either way, selling your account should not be okay. If it was collateral for a loan, then that's their problem: don't accept accounts as collateral.
5258  Economy / Gambling / Re: FortuneJacks promo LuckyJack Is BOGUS on: October 27, 2016, 10:41:00 PM
Dude that sounds like s scam email to get you to login to a phishing site. They entice you with a promise of a win to get you to login quickly without thinking but then its too late you used their link and lost your account. This happens with all kinds of accounts. Eben some of my gaming accounts injad received emails like this about. It ia just phishing sttempts. As you say how can you win something without entering. Close the email and move on.

This is possible. If there is a contradiction between the email and the support, there may be the possibility of a phishing attempt. What was the email address that sent you the email? It should have @fortunejack.com (or something similar) appended to it.

The LuckyJack game is kind of weird, though. There's little to no terms and conditions provided to it and the wording is weird. "Players who deposited total of 10 mBTC at FortuneJack are qualified for the giveaway promo" is confusing - 10 mBTC for the day... since time immemorial... or when?

"Maximum amount player can win is 100 mBTC per day" - well, what's the minimum? There's no information whatsoever, even in the FAQ. There need to be clear and definite terms.

I'm not sure whether this should be in Meta or Project Development. If it's requested to move, then I'll do so as soon as I can. Anyway!

Is there some sort of notification for being mentioned in a post, like if someone had quoted you, or posted your name apart from searching your name? If not, then has anybody made anything [script] to automate the search process and fetch mentions?

I'm one that enjoys being active in a discussion, and though adding a thread to my watchlist is great, I personally don't want more than 10 or 20 threads on there at once - it floods it way too much... and since I post in different threads often, I want to avoid adding too many to see if there are replies or not.

5260  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Which Game Would You Rather Play? on: October 27, 2016, 09:45:45 PM
Personally, the CS:GO-style case opening would be a good concept for a game. Case opening in the game itself is already exciting, and allowing it for players to directly bet with money would just make it top.

I think it would be more interactive than the 10x10 grid concept - there's already a couple minesweeper-esque games out there; (and though I know the concept is different) we don't really need more of them. Fresh concepts are always good - innovation > stagnation.
