5241  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 3.3.8 on a 32-bit Computer on: September 07, 2019, 01:17:04 PM
Permission denied sounds like you need to run the command with sudo.

Yeah it is I had the same issue on my raspberry pi at some point.

@op run this

Code:
sudo chmod 770 /home/richard/.electrum/daemon

See what happens... I had the error 6 months ago so don't exactly know how I fixed it but I'm guessing it just can't run daemon because it'll be - rwxrw---- or something.
5242  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Scammer - a proposed resource for scam reports. on: September 05, 2019, 06:22:05 PM
@AdolfinWolf

Sure, you can already see this on the forum, but that isn't a reason to not start your own website.
The forum is very limited in its capabilities and I've heard many times that people don't tend to read it because this forum just seems to be from another age. (the UI is pretty dated...)

I think the other thing is that a website looks a lot more distinguished than a forum, everyone can post on this forum only one person can own bitcoin scammer. Com for example so it makes it a bit more authoritative.

Things like watching only scams and phishing attacks got a lot of people and people go to different places to find out things. Some might come here some might go to a website/search engine.

Most posts in scam accusations will reach the second or third pages pretty quickly and just keep falling from there too...

1 sat per byte is confirming really quickly this afternoon if you need to consolidate dust, now's your chance.
5244  Economy / Economics / Re: Trading on: September 04, 2019, 06:06:40 PM
There seem to be 3 main trading strategies:
Hold: most people have this as a main position and use it especially when they're starting out to hold most of their funds so there's a lot less risk.
day trading: these people to technical analysis and look at market sentiments in order to trade.
leverage trading: these people do trades where they give say 1btc and borrow 10 but they get liquidated of their position drops by 0.1 for example. Lots of people do this when they want to hold 90% and trade with 10% or something but leverage trading entails more risk.

Look at the sentiment behind exchanges too: hitbtc and yobit have quite a few negative reviews, coinbase, binance and bitmex seem to have less issues but are more limited on the trading pairs they have. I'd recommend looking into technical analysis to use with bitcoin and understand that every trade doesn't always take a profit so be sure to set a stop loss.
5245  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help receiving coin on: September 04, 2019, 11:15:27 AM
What does it say at the bottom left of your electrum app? Does it say "Not Connected" or does it give a balance?
5246  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is there a culture where people are sorted by aptitude at age 9/10? on: September 04, 2019, 11:12:06 AM
So pretty much all of the reports that "European children are smarter then American children" is only due to the fact that they're sorting children by how smart they are at a certain age, and only letting the smartest people continue on further into academia while the rest are left for the trades and such?

Wow.

That's just one country in europe and I'm not sure how the system actually works in Germany.

Most European countries and America seem to have bad education systems (if not all) but I'm not sure there's much they can do to improve it unelss you get teachers that have a better knowledge of their subject and can better direct their students. I think everyone remembers the few teachers who gave up on what they were supposed to be teaching or followed it so loosly as to a point where they would also cover a bit behind what you were supposed to learn too...

How was Einstein at math was he still pretty average by age 10 - that might be an interesting thing to look at do you have a link?
5247  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: September 03, 2019, 04:00:20 PM
If you have more than 7 confirmations I'd suggest contacting chipmixer's email address (which can be located on the bottom of their page or on the contact page) with the address you deposited to.
5248  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: September 03, 2019, 02:41:38 PM
That's a 0.04BTC reduction on the S15... I'll probably get one if I can deem its roi alright.

Are there any plans to. Bring back the PACMiC contracts or are they gone now forever... The interest wasn't great but it did guarentee your funds back and pay a ~0.1% (which in this space could be a lot worse, most gambling sites go negative).
5249  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: September 03, 2019, 02:20:21 PM
I'm waiting for my coins too. My transaction has several confirmations, but no Chips yet.

Have you tried skipping to step 2 in case it's a java script issue (does the page keep refreshing anyway, you'll see the refresh button in the top left turn to an X) ?
5250  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Scammer - a proposed resource for scam reports. on: September 02, 2019, 05:52:56 PM

Well if that is the case theymos and the mods hiding the trust scores for unregistered users would be useless in the forum since your website will be showing ecerything to them. I believe that the admins hid the trust scored for anonymous unregistered members so that their views won't be changed towards that user have a bad trust score.

You can publicly see trist scores on the bpip too so it won't have an affect on that. Also all you have to do is register an account to see trust. It's not like you have to advance in membership...

Also, I think the site would be better looking at scammer strategies than listing members because it's like trying to block trolls - they'll just keep coming back...
5251  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: September 02, 2019, 01:42:48 PM

In step 2, I see "Total chips 0.000". I hope you're right. The session ends in 86 hours. There is no answer to the email yet, there is no answer to the personal message to the official account of the mixer on this site, there is no answer in this topic from them.
Thanks for your advice. I'll keep you informed.

Yeah it's a known bug, you're going to have to wait for them to reply but you might want to extend your session on the site so it doesn't get deleted.

Let us know when it gets resolved.
5252  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Scammer - a proposed resource for scam reports. on: September 02, 2019, 08:47:06 AM
Bitcoin is referred to as dark Web money already and the majority of people consider it something that is just used by scammers and drug dealers and we probably won't get away from that for many years anyway. Especially since wealthy people are sad they've missed the boat for not buying the coin when it was cheaper...

Jet cash does pretty well at getting search engine crawlers to find his sites normally but it is probably quite a big undertaking to try to get it to the top of Google/duckduck, not an unachievable one though.
5253  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Antiviruses on: September 01, 2019, 09:28:58 PM
The real problem isn't the security model, but user's security awareness which makes security model useless on some cases.

Some parts of operating systems are exploitable like windows with the WannaCry virus which was a vulnerability exploit that was normally previously used for industrial network installations (so the modem can pass applications to other computers for them to be installed). It's hard to securely run windows unless you ensure that everyone on the same internet know what they're doing and how not to get a virus on their machine (even if that vulnerability was patched, we all know how often Windows updates can fail if you've ever run Windows - and some just never install).

Realistically, this question also apply to AV. Besides, look doesn't mean you understand the code.

Programmers might make some code too that can look correct but can compile to produce vulnerabilities. There must've been bugs in the past caused by old compilers that opened up vulnerabilities, in order to trust your piece of code is going to run correctly you might also wnat to check the compiler is fully up to date and not malicious (it's likely lots of people will check compilers for thier integrity especially as a lot of people are interested in how they function and how they can make them more efficient).

If you have a lot of crypto to keep safe, it might be worth investing in a separate computer entirely, as mentioned VM's can have backdoors in them and nothing can beat the security of an airgapped wallet (potentially with a hardware wallet added in too on the airgapped machine).
5254  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Need a portable hot spot recommendation on: September 01, 2019, 12:44:34 PM
Thanks gentlemand, I bought a tplink before your post and it started off a bit poorly but I've moved it near a window and it seems to reach 11mbps which I think is quite high (probably higher than I'll need)...

The tplink as 4000mah and I'm going to switch between keeping it plugged in and taking it out just when I'll need it...

My 3 sim works out at £17.50 a month since the first 6 months are half price.
5255  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Block.io api wallet on: August 31, 2019, 11:58:32 PM
You don't need ssl to connect via it, block.io will have it (if not its a reason not to use it). Juat be sure all links to them start with https and not http.

They should have documentation for working with php and if not it should be somewhere on a place like github (but anyone can upload anything so be careful and make sure you understand the code before running it).
5256  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: August 31, 2019, 11:13:20 PM
If its saying 0.000 then it's a known bug. You'll have to wait for cm to get to it and solve your problem... They're normally good at responding just make sure the session doesn't run out...
5257  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: August 31, 2019, 03:47:46 PM
IF you have javascript disabled you have to click to go to step 2 once your transaction confirms (it says this on the site)...

Try restoring your session from it's token and clicking to go to step 2 and see what happens if your transaction has confirmed.

Edit: transaction is confirmed so jump straight to step 2 and see if it loads.
5258  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BSV SCAM - Archive web pages on Fake bitcoin blockchain on: August 31, 2019, 03:33:13 PM
This is what I believe altcoins always have their strong roles in blockchain industry. Of course, I meant good altcoins, not scam altcoin projects. Bitcoin is unreplaceable, I agree, but bitcoin itself can not do all things to build up strong blockchain industry.
We do need altcoins that play its role in daily payments and minor to major things in human cilization, bitcoin in contrast plays as a leader and backbone of crypto currency and blockchain industry.

You need an altcoin specific thing or maybe a side chain, ethereum had to split it's chains up afaik to offer people an option to download just the main chain or the smart contracts chain (because there's a huge difference in the size)... The more you try to put into a chain's function, the lower it's security will be but separating things up is a great way to get around that problem into altcoins and side chains. BSV doesn't have much going for it so this is probably a good way to repurpose the coin - but I doubt bsv has many nodes.
5259  Other / Meta / Re: List of scammers who attack theymos on: August 31, 2019, 03:14:32 PM
If you get a couple of people on this then it might be interesting to have a voting system or a different page for newly discovered scams. They always change so they harder to find.

I think a couple of sections might be helpful like a social engineering section and a malware section too... I don't know how you'd do it with smf but if there's a system where up votes can be used then that'd be good or if you can change how things are stikied in smf so more important stuff appear but moderately important stuff don't disappear to page 2 (this could be handled with a stikied contents page though I guess)...

If one of you two could open a self moderated thread in project development or investigations then thst would be helpful. We'd need a vetting process for users added to the site so that they can't just delete everything or spread false information (on fit to talk this was handled with a 30 minute grace period and one or two moderators though) ...
5260  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BSV SCAM - Archive web pages on Fake bitcoin blockchain on: August 31, 2019, 01:51:06 PM
I'm not sure this is a good idea. This should be done on its own chain and not the bitcoin blockchain. Blocks are a megabyte in size atm and only ~10% of that could be given to storing this data.

I agree making a decentralised ledger of the Internet would be a great way to go, just not using the bitcoin blockchain.

Edit: do what you want with bsv...
