Nothing is a bitcoin killer. BTC is so huge and controls the entire crypto market. It even has mainstream name recognition, which nothing else in crypto has. Possibly in the future something will supplant it, but this seems extremely unlikely at the moment.

We are 8 blocks away from the BTG hard fork and the price is already volatile. Bitcoin went down and Ethereum went up. Is there some whales dumping bitcoin now before the fork? Any thought?
I think some may be doing that. If you values bitcoin but you think bitcoin gold will be worthless, then probably your best strategy is to move alts to btc ahead of the fork to take advantage of the rising price, then move back to alts just before the fork happens to avoid falling price. |

I think Aventus looks good as it has a real world use and is something that is really needed. Expecting price to rise considerably next year.

ETH and XRP would be solid for the first two. My third pick would probably change day by day, but I think Aventus looks undervalued. I can this being very valuable and maybe acquired by ticketmaster in the future. But I'll come back to this thread in a week or two and recommend something else!

QTUM may be a good coin but it is not realistic (at the moment at least) to call it an Ethereum killer. ETH is very firmly established and has a strong team. I can't see anything taking its place. Of course that may change in future, but QTUM has a long way to go to prove itself worthy as #2 coin.

The psychological barriers tend to be the round numbers, so we had $1k and $5k... next big one is $10k which could see a big bounce back. After that we're good until $20k  |

I remember last Fork right when the fork happened, tons of money got poured back into alts for a couple days.
Where do you think more money will be put into Fiat, alts, or BTC after the fork???
I think it will go back to where it came from. So if money came from alts, I'd suggest that it will also go back there after the fork, so probably now is a good time to buy alts if you don't want bitcoin gold. |

Each coin is worth what people are willing to pay for it, so it's just speculation. If it's a fork of bitcoin then it has some big reputation to start with. As for whether it has come from fiat or not... 'Money' in any sense doesn't really exist, it's all speculation. If your house is 'worth' $500k, that's because the market suggests that people are willing to pay $500k for it. If no one is willing to buy it, then it is worth what people are willing to pay for the bricks etc.

I would go with ETH because they've just had their fork which seemed to go well. A lot of alt coins could shoot up after people get their bitcoin gold, so yes now might be a good time. But people will give you different answers based on their own preferences.

all of these scam ico's have tens and hundreds of millions dollar but they can't push out anything. it is not about money and advertising hype in crypto world like most these scam coin or token platforms are doing right now. it's all about team and ability to code.
so, the good coders are already find or have their own place. all the new scams popping up will be pushing out nothing but take your hard earn Bitcoin. their hype scam promises should be worth nothing. take my word for it.
The situation may be improving a bit with regard to the insane cap ICOs. Back in I think June they were regularly getting $100m, but those mega-cap ones seem to have slowed down now, probably after the late Summer slow crash before the btc fork. So still a problem, but maybe getting a bit better. |

In most of ICOs, investors can get some bonuses, if they invest sooner. In my opinion these bonuses not only don't cause the ICO to be successful, but also cause the ICO to fail. In some ICOs there is up to 100% bonus.
If I see that there are some people have gotten 100% bonus in pre-ICO, I don't invest in that ICO, Because they will dump their coins after crowdsale and cause the price to fall.
Do you agree with me? What are your opinions?
Yes, I totally agree. if a 100% bonus is offered, then there must be a massive temptation to dump immediately - even if you only sell at ICO price, you make an instant 100% profit. This sort of situation will attract many people who aren't interested in the project and just want some easy money. |

Will XTRABYTES (XBY) Be A Top 10 Cryptocurrency By The End Of 2018? Why or why not?
They may have good developments coming, time will tell. However it is very hard for a coin to break into the top 10, and don't forget other coins (including the current top 10) are developing all the time as well. So I say no for Xtrabytes top 10 by end of 2018. Really everyone is guessing, and no-one knows for certain, however top 10 seems unlikely to me. |

I'd say Ethereum because it has had its own fork now and the price can be expected to rise. It is likely that a lot of altcoins will rise as people move money back out of bitcoin.

Some are scams, some are genuine but greedy, and some are 100% genuine and will use all of the generated money for furthering the project.
As with everything else, ICOs cover the spectrum - the good the bad and all points in between. The trick is always to identify which ICOs are the best.

I would add some Ethereum. Bitcoin is always good to have, and I'm not sure about some of the others in the list so not prepared to judge those.

The problem is everyone will have a different opinion, and some people will recommend a coin if they have some and want to sell it. In general the coins nearer the top of the market have proven themselves more and are safer long term bets. As you go to lower cap coins the risk increases, but then so does the potential for big % increases. So this is why many people suggest to split your coins betwen some bitcoin some top altcoins and some lower altcoins. |

Everything has its weaknesses, and nothing in crypto is a mature technology yet. But I think Ethereum is better than most, which is part of why it is number 2 in the charts and the top alt. I say have faith and give it time to mature.

XRP. But that's assuming you have a lot in other coins already, and it's just $1000 to add to existing holdings. If $1000 is total holdings, then I'd split it across coins and have some BTC too. |

First of all let me say that I really like ETH and like 40% of my portfolio is in ETH so this is not FUD post. Got in at last dip after sept. 15 so im still good. But I don't like chart that i have been seeing today. For me it looks like double top... what do you guys think?  *Corrected word dep with top I think now is not a good time to try to analyse ETH market - we have just had the upgrade, plus the upcoming btc fork has an impact everywhere. I think there are a lot of factors in play at the moment that wouldn't normally be the case. |

No, I don't think anything will be like bitcoin. It has its own purpose and is unlikely to lose that. But there will be other coins with other purposes that do well, for example ETH and XRP at the top end of the market. |
